Malnutrition and Quality of Life in Chinese Cancer Patients: a Clinical Study of 23,994 Subjects显示文摘Background Malnutrition is common in patients with cancer, and can negatively impact their quality of life(QoL)and even survival. However, there is currently no large data available on the prevalence of malnutrition in Chinese cancer patients. This study evaluated the prevalence of malnutrition and the QoL of Chinese patients with locoregional, recurrent or metastatic cancer. Methods We conducted a nationwide observational,multi-center,hospital-based cross-sectional study within the Chinese Society of Nutritional Oncology(CSNO)Network. All of the patients were diagnosed with one of the following 18 different types of malignant tumors:lung cancer, gastric cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, malignant lymphoma, leukemia, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, brain cancer, biliary tract malignant tumors or gastrointestinal stromal tumors. These patients were enrolled from 72 hospitals located in different regions of China. The patients’nutritional status was evaluated based on the body mass index(BMI),loss of bodyweight, laboratory measurements and patient generated-subjective global assessment(PG-SGA)scores.The cancer patients’physical status and QoL were assessed by the Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)questionnaire and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer(EORTC)QLQ-C30 questionnaire, respectively. Results From December 2013 to April 2016,23,994 patients hospitalized for cancer treatment(such as surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy)were enrolled in the study. The patients included 12,494(52.9%)males and 11,124(47.1%)females.The mean age was 55.8±13.7 years. The proportions of patients in cancer stagesⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳand uncertain were 11.5%,20.3%,27.5%,30.2%and 10.5%,respectively.Among the 23,994 inpatients, the proportions of patients who were underweight(BMI<18.5 kg/m2),normal(18.5 kg/m2Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Zhen Ming Fu Chang Wang Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Fu Xiang Zhou Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Min Weng Qing Hua Yao Jiu Wei Cui Wei Li Han Ping Shi the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers(INSCOC)Group 2021Journal of Nutritional Oncology2021,6,1:8
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients. The validity of the PG-SGA in Chinese cancer patients warrants further investigation in other cancer types.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2016Journal of Nutritional Oncology2016,1,1:7
Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Gastric Cancer Patients显示文摘Purpose Malnutrition is severe among gastric cancer patients in China. While the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a widely used nutritional assessment tool, the validation for Chinese patients with gastric cancer has not been performed yet. The aim of this research is to validate the Chinese version of the PGSGA in Chinese gastric cancer patients by conducting analyses of nutrition screening and assessment data. Methods Two thousand consecutive adult patients with gastric cancer were included in this observational, cross-sectional study in several tertiary hospitals in China. A survey was made among those patients, which included several questionnaires and some anthropometric parameters. We calculated the parameters to validate the use of PG-SGA categorizing the nutritional status of gastric cancer patients. Then we performed statistical analysis to evaluate the internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity. Results This study verified the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate gastric cancer patients into different nutritional groups. The confirmatory factor analysis verified the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. The internal and external consistency was measured by a concordance analysis which showed an intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) of 0.987. The correlations of the Box 4 score with the Karnofsky performance status score demonstrated alternative form validity with good external consistency (Pearson, r = 0.643, P < 0.001). All three anthropometric dimensions of the PG-SGA were supported by principal component analysis. Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were significant in the majority of tests. Conclusion The Chinese version of the PG-SGA is a valid tool to access the patients’ nutritional status for Chinese gastric patients.Zhen Ming Fu Hong Xia Xu Chun Hua Song Wei Li Zeng Qing Guo Yuan Lin Ying Ying Shi Wen Hu Yi Ba Su Yi Li Zeng Ning Li Kun Hua Wang Jing Wu Ying He Jia Jun Yang Cong Hua Xie Xin Xia Song Gong Yan Chen Wen Jun Ma Su Xia Luo Zi Hua Chen Ming Hua Cong Hu Ma Chun Ling Zhou Wei Wang Qi Luo Yong Mei Shi Yu Mei Qi Hai Ping Jiang Wen Xian Guan Jun Qiang Chen Jia Xin Chen Yu Fang Lan Zhou Yong Dong Feng Rong Shao Tan Tao Li Jun Wen Ou Qing Chuan Zhao Jian Xiong Wu Chang Wang Han Ping Shi The Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) Group 2018Journal of Nutritional Oncology2018,3,4:5
Novel ionic liquids as reaction medium for atom transfer radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate显示文摘Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) employing ethyl 2-bromoisobutyrate (EBiB)/ CuBr as the initiating system was investigated at 50℃ in the absence of any additional ligand in the three room temperature ionic liquids (RTIL_s), 1-methyl-imidazolium acetate ([mim][CH_3COO]), 1-methylimidazolium propionate ([mim][CH_3CH_2COO]) and 1-methylimidazolium butyrate ([mim][CH_3CH_2CH_2COO]), respectively. All the polymerization in the three RTILs proceeded in a well-controlled manner. 6Interferon-induced Transmembrane Protein 3 Prevents Acute Influenza Pathogenesis in Mice显示文摘Objective Interferon-induced transmembrane protein 3(IFITM3)is an important member of the IFITM family. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying its antiviral action have not been completely elucidated.Recent studies on IFITM3,particularly those focused on innate antiviral defense mechanisms, have shown that IFITM3 affects the body’s adaptive immune response. The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of IFITM3 proteins to immune control of influenza infection in vivo. Methods We performed proteomics, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry analysis and used bioinformatics tools to systematically compare and analyze the differences in natural killer(NK)cell numbers, their activation, and their immune function in the lungs of Ifitm3-/-and wild-type mice. Results Ifitm3-/-mice developed more severe inflammation and apoptotic responses compared to wild-type mice. Moreover, the NK cell activation was higher in the lungs of Ifitm3-/-mice during acute influenza infection. Conclusions Based on our results,we speculate that the NK cells are more readily activated in the absence of IFITM3,increasing mortality in Ifitm3-/-mice.SUN Qiang LEI Na LU Jian GAO Rong Bao LI Zi LIU Li Qi SUN Ying GUO Jun Feng WANG Da Yan SHU Yue Long 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,5:4

A Survey of Urolithiasis in Young Children Fed Infant Formula Contaminated with Melamine in Two Townships of Gansu,China显示文摘Objective To determine the prevalence of urolithiasis in young children fed infant formula(IF) contaminated with melamine, and the association between IF consumption and urolithiasis.Design A total of 2 733 children ≤3 years of age on September 1,2008 in two townships of Gansu Province,China were studied.Cases of urolithiasis were diagnosed by ultrasonography.Milk product consumption was determined by their caregivers.Remaining IF samples were tested for melamine and cyanuric acid. Results Of 2 733 eligible children in the two townships,2 186(80%) were enrolled in our study.Overall,16.6%(362) of 2 186 children had urolithiasis. The prevalence was 24.6% in children exclusively fed Sanlu brand IF,9.7% in those fed other IF,and 8.5% in those fed exclusively on other milk products. For children exclusively breast-fed,no urolithiasis was found(P<0.05).The prevalence of urolithiasis was 11.4% in children fed 400 g of Sanlu IF,rising to 37.5% in children fed over 25 600 g.Of 48 Sanlu IF samples,91.7% contained melamine(median=1 800 ppm;range=45-4 700) and 66.7% contained cyanuric acid(median=1.2 ppm;range=0.4-6.3).Melamine was also detected in 22.2% of 36 other brand IF(median=27.5 ppm,range=4-50).Conclusions Urolithiasis was associated with melamine-contaminated IF.Although one product caused most morbidity, other milk products may have also contributed to the outbreak.SHI Guo Qing WANG Zi Jun FENG Zi Jian GAO Yong Jun LIU Jian Di SHEN Tao LIMing YANG Jin XU Hai Bing JIANG Xiao Hong WANG Zhao Nan CAI Mei WANG Yu Min ZHU Ye Fan LIU Hui Hui WANG Rui XIONG Wei Yi WANG Zhu Tian YANG Wei Zhong HOU Pei Sen ZENG Guang WANG Yu 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,2:1
Cloud Radiative Feedbacks during the ENSO Cycle Simulated by CAMS-CSM显示文摘This study evaluated the simulated cloud radiative feedbacks(CRF)during the El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO)cycle in the latest version of the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences climate system model(CAMS-CSM).We conducted two experimental model simulations:the Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project(AMIP),forced by the observed sea surface temperature(SST);and the preindustrial control(PIcontrol),a coupled run without flux correction. We found that both the experiments generally reproduced the observed features of the shortwave and longwave cloud radiative forcing(SWCRF and LWCRF)feedbacks. The AMIP run exhibited better simulation performance in the magnitude and spatial distribution than the PIcontrol run.Furthermore, the simulation biases in SWCRF and LWCRF feedbacks were linked to the biases in the representation of the corresponding total cloud cover and precipitation feedbacks. It is interesting to further find that the simulation bias originating in the atmospheric component was amplified in the PIcontrol run, indicating that the coupling aggravated the simulation bias.Since the PIcontrol run exhibited an apparent mean SST cold bias over the cold tongue, the precipitation response to the SST anomaly(SSTA)changes during the ENSO cycle occurred towards the relatively warmer western equatorial Pacific. Thus, the corresponding cloud cover and CRF shifted westward and showed a weaker magnitude in the PIcontrol run versus observational data.In contrast, the AMIP run was forced by the observational SST,hence representing a more realistic CRF.Our results demonstrate the challenges of simulating CRF in coupled models. This study also underscores the necessity of realistically representing the climatological mean state when simulating CRF during the ENSO cycle.Lin CHEN Lijuan HUA Xinyao RONG Jian LI Lu WANG Guo ZHANG Ming SUN Zi'an GE 2019Journal of Meteorological Research2019,33,4:1
Distribution of Microbiota in Fine Particulate Matter Particles in Guangzhou, China显示文摘Objective High PM2.5 concentration is the main feature of increasing haze in developing states, but information on its microbial composition remains very limited. This study aimed to determine the composition of microbiota in PM2.5 in Guangzhou,a city located in the tropics in China. Methods In Guangzhou, from March 5th to 10th,2016,PM2.5 was collected in middle volume air samplers for 23 h daily. The 16 S rDNA V4 region of the PM2.5 sample extracted DNA was investigated using high-throughput sequence. Results Among the Guangzhou samples,Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,Cyanobacteria, and Actinobacteria were the dominant microbiota accounting for more than 90%of the total microbiota, and Stenotrophomonas was the dominant gram-negative bacteria, accounting for 21.30%–23.57%.We examined the difference in bacterial distribution of PM2.5 between Beijing and Guangzhou at the genus level;Stenotrophomonas was found in both studies, but Escherichia was only detected in Guangzhou. Conclusion In conclusion, the diversity and specificity of microbial components in Guangzhou PM2.5 were studied, which may provide a basis for future pathogenicity research in the tropics.DONG Shi Rui HAN Ya Jing WU Jing ZENG Cheng Li ZHU Ke Hui CHEN Xiao Jing LIU Yu Mei ZOU Xiao Qian ZHENG Shao Ling WEN Zi Hao LIU Dan Dan WANG Yao HUANG Xiu Xia DU Xiu Ben HAO Jian Lei WANG Huan Yu GUO Shu JING Chun Xia YANG Guang 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,5:1
Performance of Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra and Xpert MTB/RIF for the Diagnosis of Tuberculosis through Testing of Formalin-fixed Paraffin-embedded Tissues显示文摘Tuberculosis(TB)is a significant infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis(MTB).In 2017,10.0 million new TB cases and 1.3 million deaths were reported globally, according to World Health Organization(WHO)[1].The Mycobacterial culture test is the gold standard for diagnosis but the positive rate is only about 30%[1],and it is eve n lower with extrapulm onary tuberculosis. For sputum-negative pulmonary and extrapulm on ary TB,pathological exami nation playsan importa nt role in diag no sis.The detecti on of MTB in forma I i fixed pa raff i n-embedded(FFPE)tissues iscritical for the definite pathological diagnosis of culture-negative TB.Accurate diagnosis is essentialin reducing TB-related morbidity and mortality[2].Molecular pathological tests detecting MTB DNA have shown advantages in improving diagnostic sen sitivity.DU Wei Li SONG Jing WANG Jian Guo LIU Zi Chen LI Kun WANG Yu Xuan DONG Yu Jie CHE Nan Ying 2019Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,12:1
Identification of Dual Receptor-binding Specific Strains of Human H5N1 Viruses in China显示文摘Objective Both the 2,6 linkage and its topology on target cells are critical for the recognition by human influenza virus. The binding preference of avian flu virus H5N1 HA to the 2,3-linked sialylated glycans is considered the major factor limiting its efficient infection and transmission in humans. To monitor potential adaptation of H5N1 virus in human population, the surveillance of receptor-binding specificity was undertaken in China. Methods The binding specificity of 32 human H5N1 virus strains isolated from 2003 to 2009 was tested by 2,3-specific sialidase-treated chicken red blood cell (CRBC) agglutination assay and a solid-phase direct binding assay with synthetic sialylglycopolymers. Results Dual binding preference to 2,3 and 2,6-glycans were found in two strains:A/Guangdong/1/06 (A/GD/1/06) and A/Guangxi/1/08 (A/GX/1/08).Thoughminor effect of short-2,6-binding was detected in A/GX/1/08 at a low virus titer, both showed high affinity to the oligosaccharide at a high load.Notably both are of the long-2,6-recognition,with the same topology as that of human H1N1 and H3N2 viruses. Conclusion The findings suggest that human H5N1 virus in China likely acquired the potential human-adaptation ability.Further research and surveillance on receptor-binding specificity of H5N1 viruses are required.ZHOU Jian Fang ZOU Shu Mei LI Zi WANG Min DONG Jie GUO Jun Feng WEI He Jiang WEN Le Ying XU Hong SHU Yue Long 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,1:0

Development and Assessment of Two Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza(HPAI) H5N6 Candidate Vaccine Viruses for Pandemic Preparedness显示文摘Objective In China, 24 cases of human infection with highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI) H5 N6 virus have been confirmed since the first confirmed case in 2014. Therefore, we developed and assessed two H5 N6 candidate vaccine viruses(CVVs).Methods In accordance with the World Health Organization(WHO) recommendations, we constructed two reassortant viruses using reverse genetics(RG) technology to match the two different epidemic H5 N6 viruses. We performed complete genome sequencing to determine the genetic stability. We assessed the growth ability of the studied viruses in MDCK cells and conducted a hemagglutination inhibition assay to analyze their antigenicity. Pathogenicity attenuation was also evaluated in vitro and in vivo. Results The results showed that no mutations occurred in hemagglutinin or neuraminidase, and both CVVs retained their original antigenicity. The replication capacity of the two CVVs reached a level similar to that of A/Puerto Rico/8/34 in MDCK cells. The two CVVs showed low pathogenicity in vitro and in vivo, which are in line with the WHO requirements for CVVs.Conclusion We obtained two genetically stable CVVs of HPAI H5N6 with high growth characteristics, which may aid in our preparedness for a potential H5N6 pandemic.LIU Li Qi LI Zi JIAO Ming LU Jian ZHOU Jian Fang LI Xi Yan LIU Jia GUO Jun Feng XIAO Ning ZHAO Xiang WANG Da Yan 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,9:0
