1Intelligent Speed Limit System for Safe Expressway Driving in Rainy and Foggy Weather Based on Internet of Things显示文摘The feature bends and tunnels of mountainous expressways are often affected by bad weather,specif-ically rain and fog,which significantly threaten expressway safety and traffic efficiency.In order to solve this problem,a vehicle–road coordination system based on the Internet of Things(IoT)is developed that can share vehicle–road information in real time,expand the environmental perception range of vehicles,and realize vehicle–road collaboration.It helps improve traffic safety and efficiency.Further,a vehicle–road cooperative driving assistance system model is introduced in this study,and it is based on IoT for improving the driving safety of mountainous expressways.Considering the influence of rain and fog on driving safety,the interaction between rainfall,water film,and adhesion coefficient is analyzed.An intelligent vehicle–road coordination assistance system is constructed that takes in information on weather,road parameters,and vehicle status,and takes the stopping sight distance model as well as rollover and sideslip model as boundary constraints.Tests conducted on a real expressway demonstrated that the assistance system model is helpful in bad weather conditions.This system could promote intelligent development of mountainous expressways.燕北瑞 方成 邱昊 朱文峰 2023Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong university(Science)2023,28,1:1
2Study on the Spatial Coupling between Expressway Networks and Tourist Attractions: A Case Study of Guizhou Province显示文摘Transportation is the most basic element in the development of tourism,with expressways being the main channel for tourism transportation in the era of driving tours.The relationship between transportation and tourism development has always been one of the hot topics in tourism geography study.Since the expressway service area is the main node of tourist service facilities in the expressway transportation network,we conducted a field research on 125 service areas and 177 tourist attractions in Guizhou Province,and obtained relevant data.By using the centrality measures for social network analysis,and combining the kernel density analysis with bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis,this paper explores the centrality characteristics of expressway transportation network,the spatial distribution regularity of tourist attractions,and the spatial coupling between them.The main study conclusions are as follows:(1)The expressway service areas in Guizhou Province gradually decrease from a single core to the periphery.(2)The spatial distribution of tourist attractions presents a weak circular structure with multiple cores in a scattered manner,and the regional differences are apparent.(3)There is positive spatial correlation between the expressway networks and tourist attractions.The spatial coupling between the expressway transportation network and tourist attractions can be divided into four types of clusters:high–high cluster,high–low cluster,low–high cluster,and low–low cluster,with high–high and low–low clusters as the main types.The high–high cluster is the area with the best coupling effect and the most mature tourism.The high–low and low–high clusters have a mismatch between transportation and tourism resources.For such clusters,the spatial coupling can be realized by changing the functions of the service area or improving the quality of the tourist attraction.They have great development potential.The low–low cluster is far away from tourist attractions and markets,thus it has a small value of tourism development,and it is the critical area for future improvement.The conclusion of this study can provide a theoretical basis and scientific suggestions for promoting integrated and coordinated sustainable development of transportation and tourism.CHEN Sihong XI Jianchao LIU Menghao 2020Chinese Journal of Urban and Environmental Studies2020,8,1:1
3Cause analysis of expressway traffic accidents based on accident statistics of Hunan provincial expressway in 2012-2018显示文摘Based on the 2012–2018 accident statistics on the Hunan Provincial Expressway in China,this paper analyses the proportion to which various factors contribute to accidents,as well as the trends over time.From 2012 to 2018,the total number of general procedure handling accidents(i.e.major accidents)increased first and then decreased,while the number of accidents and deaths per 1000 kilometres decreased year by year.The total number of simple procedure handling accidents(i.e.minor accidents)increased year by year,but the number of accidents per 1000 kilometres remained relatively stable.Speeding,fatigued driving,improper driving operation,failure to maintain a safe distance from the preceding vehicle and pedestrians entering the expressway are the main causes of general procedure handling accidents.Failure to maintain a safe distance from the preceding vehicle as required and improper driving operation accounted for approximately 2/3 of the simple procedure handling accidents.In view of the accidents caused by these factors,how to use law enforcement,education,science and technology and facilities construction to further reduce the occurrence of expressway traffic accidents is discussed.Xinyu Liu Shengjun Huang Qun Chen 2024Transportation Safety and Environment2024,6,1:0
4An estimation model of time-varying origin-destination flows in expressway corridors based on unscented Kalman filter显示文摘On the basis of measurable time series of mainline and ramp flows from traffic counts and the assumption of travel time distributions, this research presents a dynamic system model and its on-line estimation algorithm for recursive estimation of time-varying origin-destination (OD) matrices in expressway corridors. The proposed model employs a macro-traffic flow model to estimate travel times of OD flows and uses parameters of the traffic model as state variables, which are added to the constrained function of the system. To improve the model efficiency, we revise the travel time distribution based on the feature of normal distribution. The research employs a newly developed filtering technique, called unscented Kalman filter. The proposed model is evaluated with simulation experiments. 11Heavy metals in road-deposited sediment and runoff in urban and intercity expressways显示文摘Road-deposited sediments(RDS)accumulated on road surfaces are an important environmental medium that often provides transport for heavy metals.In order to understand the characteristics of heavy metals in RDS,we investigated the size distribution and heavy metal(i.e.Cd,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb and Zn)concentrations in RDS and road runoff in typical expressways of suburban and rural area in China.The results demonstrated that RDS particles from all impervious expressway surfaces were predominantly coarse particles(>250μm,58.4%±3.8%)and the RDS on all expressways contained more heavy metals than background soils.Furthermore,the concentrations of Cd,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb and Zn increased with traffic volume,suggesting that these heavy metals are mainly derived from traffic activities.Moreover,it is found that although heavy metals were concentrated in fine grain fractions,the total loading is highest for the coarsest particles due to their large mass percentage.Additionally,it reveals that the heavy metal concentrations in road runoff of suburban expressway are higher than that in urban expressway.Our findings enhance the understanding of expressway pollution,and imply that for controlling runoff pollution from RDS,transportation agencies should be concerned with both fine and coarse particles and take cleaning methods into account.Shuohan Gao Xinjun Wang Hua Li Yaping Kong Jiding Chen Zheng Chen 2022Transportation Safety and Environment2022,4,1:0

18Review and perspective of expressway tunnels in Taiwan, China显示文摘Since the construction of the first expressway in the 1970s, the total length of expressways in Taiwan has increased to over 1 000 km, of which 40 km are aligned with tunnels. These twin-tube tunnels, which have two or three lanes in each tube, are characterized by large cross-sections. Due to the complicated topography and heterogeneous geological conditions of Taiwan, tunnel construction has encountered many difficulties. Thus, many advanced excavation methods were developed during tunnel construction. To satisfy the concurrent requirements of safety, economy and efficiency, new construction methods and techniques should be developed or introduced.
