| 2 | Deep learning applied to two-dimensional color Doppler flow imaging ultrasound images significantly improves diagnostic performance in the classification of breast masses:a multicenter study显示文摘Background:The current deep learning diagnosis of breast masses is mainly reflected by the diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions.In China,breast masses are divided into four categories according to the treatment method:inflammatory masses,adenosis,benign tumors,and malignant tumors.These categorizations are important for guiding clinical treatment.In this study,we aimed to develop a convolutional neural network(CNN)for classification of these four breast mass types using ultrasound(US)images.Methods:Taking breast biopsy or pathological examinations as the reference standard,CNNs were used to establish models for the four-way classification of 3623 breast cancer patients from 13 centers.The patients were randomly divided into training and test groups(n=1810 vs.n=1813).Separate models were created for two-dimensional(2D)images only,2D and color Doppler flow imaging(2D-CDFI),and 2D-CDFI and pulsed wave Doppler(2D-CDFI-PW)images.The performance of these three models was compared using sensitivity,specificity,area under receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),positive(PPV)and negative predictive values(NPV),positive(LR+)and negative likelihood ratios(LR-),and the performance of the 2D model was further compared between masses of different sizes with above statistical indicators,between images from different hospitals with AUC,and with the performance of 37 radiologists.Results:The accuracies of the 2D,2D-CDFI,and 2D-CDFI-PW models on the test set were 87.9%,89.2%,and 88.7%,respectively.The AUCs for classification of benign tumors,malignant tumors,inflammatory masses,and adenosis were 0.90,0.91,0.90,and 0.89,respectively(95%confidence intervals[CIs],0.87-0.91,0.89-0.92,0.87-0.91,and 0.86-0.90).The 2D-CDFI model showed better accuracy(89.2%)on the test set than the 2D(87.9%)and 2D-CDFI-PW(88.7%)models.The 2D model showed accuracy of 81.7%on breast masses≤1 cm and 82.3%on breast masses>1 cm;there was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.001).The accuracy of the CNN classifications for the test set(89.2%)was significantly higher than that of all the radiologists(30%).Conclusions:The CNN may have high accuracy for classification of US images of breast masses and perform significantly better than human radiologists.Trial registration:Chictr.org,ChiCTR1900021375;http://gffzz62a03ee25e6f4a77hpf0xu0cwuk5566cv.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/showproj.aspx?proj=33139. | Teng-Fei Yu Wen He Cong-Gui Gan Ming-Chang Zhao Qiang Zhu Wei Zhang Hui Wang Yu-Kun Luo Fang Nie Li-Jun Yuan Yong Wang Yan-Li Guo Jian-Jun Yuan Li-Tao Ruan Yi-Cheng Wang Rui-Fang Zhang Hong-Xia Zhang Bin Ning Hai-Man Song Shuai Zheng Yi Li Yang Guang | 2021 | Chinese Medical Journal2021,,4: | 11 |
| 3 | Dietary supplementation of Lonicera macranthoides leaf powder improves amino acid profiles in serum and longissimus thoracis muscle of growing-finishing pigs显示文摘A 60-days feeding trial was conducted to determine the effect of dietary supplementation of Lonicera macranthoides leaf(LML) on growth performance, meat quality, and free amino acid profiles in growingfinishing pigs. L. macranthoides leaves were harvested, air-dried and milled to powder. A total of 288 crossbred barrows(Large White x Landrace) with an average initial BW of 54.0 ± 3.4 kg were randomly allocated to 3 treatment groups and fed either a basal diet or a diet supplemented with 0.5% or 1.0% LML powder. Results showed that diet supplemented with LML powder did not affect average daily feed intake(ADFI) and feed: gain ratio(P> 0.05) in growing-finishing pigs. Moreover, diet supplemented with LML powder showed no significant effects on carcass traits(P > 0.05) including dressing percentage,backfat thickness and loin muscle area, and meat quality traits(P > 0.05) including meat color, intramuscular fat and cooking loss. However, diet supplemented with LML powder significantly improved free amino acid profiles in serum and longissimus thoracis muscle in growing-finishing pigs. Most importantly, dietary LML powder increased total free amino acids content(P < 0.001) and essential free amino acid content(P < 0.001) in longissimus thoracis muscle. | 4 | Development of nutritious rice with high zinc/selenium and low cadmium in grains through QTL pyramiding显示文摘Enriching zinc(Zn) and selenium(Se) levels,while reducing cadmium(Cd) concentration in rice grains is of great benefit for human diet and health.Large natural variations in grain Zn, Se, and Cd concentrations in different rice accessions enable Zn/Sebiofortification and Cd-minimization through molecular breeding. Here, we report the development of new elite varieties by pyramiding major quantitative trait loci(QTLs) that significantly contribute to high Zn/Se and low Cd accumulation in grains. A chromosome segment substitution line CSSLGCC7 with the PA64s-derived GCC7 allele in the 93-11 background, exhibited steadily higher Mn and lower Cd concentrations in grains than those of 93-11. This elite chromosome segment substitution line(CSSL) was used as the core breeding material to cross with CSSLs harboring other major QTLs for essential mineral elements, especially CSSLGZC6 for grain Zn concentration and CSSLGSC5 for grain Se concentration. The CSSLGCC7+GZC6 and CSSLGCC7+GSC5 exhibited lower Cd concentration with higher Zn and Se concentrations in grains, respectively. | 5 | Effect of borneol and electroacupuncture on the distribution of hyperforin in the rat brain显示文摘Hyperforin is an antidepressant drug that has unstable therapeutic effects,due to its poor ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.Borneol and electroacupuncture have both been found to increase the permeability of the blood-brain barrier.As such,the current study examined the distribution of hyperforin in the rat brain,and the effects on the brain distribution of hyperforin of borneol alone (orally administered),and borneol combined with electroacupuncture treatment.High-performance liquid chromatography technology and pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that treatment with borneol alone (300,600 mg/kg) increased peak concentration and the area under the curve for hyperforin in the brain.In addition,the bioavailability of hyperforin in rat brain increased by 42.7%.However,increasing the dose of borneol dose did not appear to increase the distribution of hyperforin in the brain.Importantly,applying electroacupuncture at Baihui (GV 20) or Yamen (GV 15) appeared to enhance the brain-delivery effects of borneol,although this effect was weak.Overall,our results indicated that borneol alone or combined with electroacupuncture can provide promising strategies for brain-targeted delivery in central nervous system therapy. | Bin Yu Ming Ruan Yong Sun Xiaobing Cui Yun Yu Lingling Wang Taihui Fang | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,24: | 6 |

Both of operating parameters and reactor configurations,such as jet Reynolds number(Rej), volumetric flow ratio(R), the first-stage junction angle(φ), the connecting capillary length(Lc) and connecting capillary diameter(dc), had significant effects on the micromixing efficiency of the reactor. Such effects were investigated for both of the two stage structures, respectively, by experimental and CFD methods and were optimized for the best micromixing performance. | 8 | Theoretical and experimental investigation on novel 2D maglev servo proportional valve显示文摘This paper presents a novel two-dimensional maglev servo proportional cartridge valve(2 D maglev valve),where a contactless maglev coupling is introduced between electro-mechanical converter and valve body to realize functions of force transmission,spool position feedback and linear-rotary motion conversion.Such configuration can effectively reduce cost of both valve manufacturing and electro-mechanical converter,while still maintain features of 2 D valve such as null pilot leakage,high power-to-weight ratio and excellent anti-pollution capacity.Firstly,the characteristic equation of the valve is derived using linear theory,and the stability criterion is established for parameter determination.The influences of crucial structural parameters such as initial height of overlapping area,width of high-pressure and low-pressure holes,acting radius of magnetic force,pitch angle of maglev coupling,length of sensitive chamber and system pressure on the dynamic response are investigated based on AMESim numerical simulation.The prototype valve is then designed and manufactured and a special test rig is built.The no-load flow characteristic,load flow characteristic,leakage characteristic,amplitude and phase frequency characteristics and step response under different system pressures are measured.The experimental results are in a good agreement with the simulated analysis.As an over-damped system,the prototype valve has excellent working stability,which can reach a no-load flow rate of 105.9 L/min with hysteresis of 3.51%,amplitude bandwidth of 28.7 Hz and phase bandwidth of 42.8 Hz under 21 MPa.The research indicates that the 2 D maglev valve can be a potential solution of flow rate control valve for flight control surface system of civil aircraft with high pressure and large flow rate application. | Bin MENG Hao XU Jian RUAN Sheng LI | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,4: | 5 |
| 9 | A multi-institutional retrospective study of hyperthermic plus intravesical chemotherapy versus intravesical chemotherapy treatment alone in intermediate and high risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer显示文摘Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy(HIVEC)and intravesical chemotherapy(IVEC)in patients with intermediate and high risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC)after transurethral resection.Methods:We included 560 patients diagnosed with primary or recurrent NMIBC between April 2009 and December 2015 at 1 of 6 tertiary centers.We matched 364 intermediate or high risk cases and divided them into 2 groups:the HIVEC+IVEC group[chemohyperthermia(CHT)composed of 3 consecutive sessions followed by intravesical instillation without hyperthermia]and the IVEC group(intravesical instillation without hyperthermia).The data were recorded in the database.The primary endpoint was 2-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)in all NMIBC patients(n=364),whereas the secondary endpoints were the assessment of radical cystectomy(RC)and 5-year overall survival(OS).Results:There was a significant difference in the 2-year RFS between the two groups in all patients(n=364;HIVEC+IVEC:82.42%vs.IVEC:74.18%,P=0.038).Compared with the IVEC group,the HIVEC+IVEC group had a lower incidence of RC(P=0.0274).However,the 5-year OS was the same between the 2 groups(P=0.1434).Adverse events(AEs)occurred in 32.7%of all patients,but none of the events was serious(grades 3–4).No difference in the incidence or severity of AEs between each treatment modality was observed.Conclusions:This retrospective study showed that HIVEC+IVEC had a higher 2-year RFS and a lower incidence of RC than IVEC therapy in intermediate and high risk NMIBC patients.Both treatments were well-tolerated in a similar manner. | Qiang Ruan Degang Ding Bin Wang Chaohong He Xuequn Ren Zhenhua Feng Zhigang Pang Jin Wang Xiangliang Zhang Hongsheng Tang Jiahong Wang Qingjun He Ziying Lei Quanxing Liao Jiali Luo Shuzhong Cui | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1: | 4 |

| 11 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. | 15 | Effects of organic mineral fertiliser on heavy metal migration and potential carbon sink in soils in a karst region显示文摘Heavy metal pollution in karst mountainous area of Guizhou has spread due to the long-term exploitation of mineral resources and the improper disposal of environmentally hazardous waste. Heavy metals are characterised by non-degradation, strong toxicity, and constant accumulation, posing a grave threat to karst mountain fragile soil ecosystem. To reduce the harm caused by heavy metal pollution and damage to agricultural products, research was undertaken on the basis of previous work by simulating pot experiments on pak choi cabbage(Brassica rapa chinensis)planted in Cd-contaminated soil: different amounts of organic mineral fertilisers(OMF) compared with chemical fertiliser(CF) were used and by detecting the amount of heavy metal in the mature vegetable, a better fertilisation strategy was developed. The results showed that the Cd content in vegetables grown with CF was 23.70 mg/kg,while that of vegetables grown with OMF and bacterial inoculant was the lowest at 15.13 mg/kg. This suggests that the use of OMF and microbes in karst areas not only promotes plant growth but also hinders plant absorption of heavy metal ions in the soil. In addition, through the collection of pot leachate, the detection of water chemistrycharacteristics, and the calculation of the calcite saturation index, it was found that the OMF method also induces certain carbon sink effects. | 16 | Near-field coupling and SERS effects of palladium nanoparticle dimers显示文摘The linear optical properties and the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect of spherical palladium nanoparticle dimers are analyzed theoretically using generalized Mie theory. The calculation results demonstrate that the near-field coupling effect greatly influences the absorption, scattering and extinction spectra of nanoparticle dimers. The surface plasmon resonance wave- length red-shifts dramatically as the separation between nanoparticles decreases. Because of the near-field coupling between nanoparticles and the size effect, the maximum SERS enhancement factor at the 'hot spot' between palladium nanoparticle dimers is as high as 107-108, while the averaged SERS enhancement factor over the entire nanoparticle surface is in the range of 105-106. The deviation between the position of the peak in the extinction spectrum and the wavelength for maximum surface-averaged enhancement for the Pd nanoparticle dimers indicates that localized surface plasmon resonance has different influences on the far and near fields. | 18 | Factors Defining the Development of Severe Illness in Patients with COVID-19:A Retrospective Study显示文摘Objective Early triage of patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is pivotal in managing the disease. However, studies on the clinical risk score system of the risk factors for the development of severe disease are limited. Hence, we conducted a clinical risk score system for severe illness, which might optimize appropriate treatment strategies.Methods We conducted a retrospective, single-center study at the JinYinTan Hospital from January 24,2020 to March 31, 2020. We evaluated the demographic, clinical, and laboratory data and performed a10-fold cross-validation to split the data into a training set and validation set. We then screened the prognostic factors for severe illness using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)and logistic regression, and finally conducted a risk score to estimate the probability of severe illness in the training set. Data from the validation set were used to validate the score.Results A total of 295 patients were included.
