1Recent development of a refined multiple air pollutant emission inventory of vehicles in the Central Plains of China显示文摘Central Plains region of China,represented by Henan Province,is facing serious air pollution problems.Vehicular exhaust emissions had adverse impacts on the atmospheric environment.The first comprehensive and novel vehicle emission inventory for Henan Province using vehicle kilometers traveled,localized emission factors,and activity data at city-level was developed.Furthermore,3 km×3 km gridded emission and temporal variations were determined by using localized information.Results show that the total emissions of sulfur dioxide(SO2),nitrogen oxides(NOx),carbon monoxide(CO),particular matter with aerodynamic diameter<10μm(PM10),aerodynamic diameter<2.5μm(PM2.5),volatile organic compounds(VOCs),VOCs-evaporation and ammonia in 2015 were 9.1,533.4,1190.7,23.7,21.6,150.8,31.5 and 10.4 Gg,respectively,and the emission intensities of the above pollutants were 0.05,2.7,6.0,0.1,0.1,0.8,0.2 and 0.05 g/km,respectively.Vehicles meeting the Primary China 1,China 3 and China 4 contributed 89.1%,82.7%,75.3%,75.5%,75.5%,68.2%,68.4%and 82.3%for SO2,NOx,CO,PM10,PM2.5,VOCs,VOCs-evaporation and ammonia emissions,respectively.Zhengzhou,Zhoukou,Nanyang,Luoyang,Shangqiu and Xinyang showed relatively higher emissions and contributed more than 50%of each pollutant.The spatial distribution indicated obvious characteristics of the road network,and high-level emission was concentrated in the downtown areas.Additionally,the ozone formation potential(OFP)based on the estimated speciated VOC emissions was 569.6 Gg in Henan Province.Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons were the main species of VOCs,whereas olefins contributed the largest proportion of OFP,with 42.2%.Xingke Gu Shasha Yin Xuan Lu Huan Zhang Lingling Wang Ling Bai Chen Wang Ruiqin Zhang Minghao Yuan 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,10:11
2Characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs in Zhengzhou,China during haze pollution season显示文摘Zhengzhou is one of the most haze-polluted cities in Central China with high organic carbon emission,which accounts for 15%-20%of particulate matter(PM_(2.5))in winter and causes significantly adverse health effects.Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are the precursors of secondary PM_(2.5)and O_(3)formation.An investigation of characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs was carried out at the urban area of Zhengzhou from 1^(st) to 31^(st) December,2019.The mean concentrations of total detected VOCs were 48.8±23.0 ppbv.Alkanes(22.0±10.4 ppbv),halocarbons(8.1±3.9 ppbv)and aromatics(6.5±3.9 ppbv)were the predominant VOC species,followed by alkenes(5.1±3.3 ppbv),oxygenated VOCs(3.6±1.8 ppbv),alkyne(3.5±1.9,ppbv)and sulfide(0.5±0.9 ppbv).The Positive Matrix Factorization model was used to identify and apportion VOCs sources.Five major sources of VOCs were identified as vehicular exhaust,industrial processes,combustion,fuel evaporation,and solvent use.The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk values of species were calculated.The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks of almost all air toxics increased during haze days.The total non-carcinogenic risks exceeded the acceptable ranges.Most VOC species posed no non-carcinogenic risk during three haze events.The carcinogenic risks of chloroform,1,2-dichloroethane,1,2-dibromoethane,benzyl chloride,hexachloro-1,3-butadiene,benzene and naphthalene were above the acceptable level(1.0×10^(-6))but below the tolerable risk level(1.0×10^(-4)).Industrial emission was the major contributor to non-carcinogenic,and solvent use was the major contributor to carcinogenic risks.Dong Zhang Bing He Minghao Yuan Shijie Yu Shasha Yin Ruiqin Zhang 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,10:10

5An open conformation determined by a structural switch for 2A protease from coxsackievirus A16显示文摘Coxsackievirus A16 belongs to the family Picornaviridae,and is a major agent of hand-foot-and-mouth disease that infects mostly children,and to date no vaccines or antivi-ral therapies are available.2A protease of enterovirus is a nonstructural protein and possesses both self-cleavage activity and the ability to cleave the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4G.Here we present the crystal structure of coxsackievirus A162A protease,which interestingly forms hexamers in crystal as well as in solution.This structure shows an open conformation,with its active site accessible,ready for substrate binding and cleav-age activity.In conjunction with a previously reported“closed”state structure of human rhinovirus 2,we were able to develop a detailed hypothesis for the conforma-tional conversion triggered by two“switcher”residues Glu88 and Tyr89 located within the bll2-cII loop.Substrate recognition assays revealed that amino acid residues P1′,P2 and P4 are essential for substrate specificity,which was verifi ed by our substrate binding model.In addition,we compared the in vitro cleavage effi ciency of 2A pro-teases from coxsackievirus A16 and enterovirus 71 upon the same substrates by fl uorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET),and observed higher protease activity of enterovirus 71 compared to that of coxsackievirus A16.In conclusion,our study shows an open conformation of coxsackievirus A162A protease and the underlying mechanisms for conformational conversion and substrate specifi city.These new insights should facilitate the future rational design of effi cient 2A protease inhibitors.Yao Sun Xiangxi Wang Shuai Yuan Minghao Dang Xuemei Li Xuejun CZhang Zihe Rao 2013Protein & Cell2013,4,10:3
6Object-Based Classification Method for PolSAR Images with Improved Scattering Powers and Contextual Features显示文摘This paper proposes a new object-based classification method for Polarimetric synthetic aperture radar(Pol SAR) images, which considers scattering powers from an improved model-based polarimetric decomposition approach, as well as the spatial and textural features. With the decomposition, the scattering ambiguities between oriented buildings and vegetation are reduced. Furthermore,various contextual features are extracted from the object and incorporated into the K-nearest neighbors(k-NN)based classification. To reduce the feature redundancy, a new Supervised locally linear embedding(S-LLE) dimensionality reduction method is introduced to map the high dimensional polarimetric signatures into the most compact low-dimensional structure for classification. 7Catalytic conversion of guaiacol to alcohols for bio-oil upgrading显示文摘Guaiacol was chosen to represent O-containing chemicals with lower effective hydrogen carbon ratio(H/Ceff factor) in bio-oil,and the hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol was investigated over non-precious and nonsulfided catalysts. Effects of metal composition,reaction temperature,and hydrogen pressure on conversion and selectivity were investigated systematically. Among various compositions of catalysts,Ni Co/CNT exhibited best performance of guaiacol conversion with higher selectivity towards desired alcohols with higher H/Cefffactor. 11Experimental investigation on the bursting of single molten droplet in coolant显示文摘An experiment facility for observing low-temperature molten tin alloy droplet into water was es- tablished to investigate mechanisms of vapor explosion occurring in severe accidents of a fission nuclear reactor.The vapor explosion behaviors of the molten material were observed by a high-speed video cam- era and the vapor explosion pressures were recorded by a pressure transducer mounted under the water surface.The results showed that the pressure reached a peak value when the molten metal temperature was 600℃-650℃,and the coolant temperature had an obvious decreasing effect on the droplet breakups.A model for single droplet fuel/coolant interaction is proposed.It considers that in the case of Rayleigh-Taylor instability,the coolant that jets from opposite direction penetrates into the fuel and the vapor explosion occurs because of the rapid evaporation.This model explained the effect of metal droplet temperature and coolant temperature on vapor explosion.LI Tianshu YANG Yanhua YUAN Minghao HU Zhihua 2007Nuclear Science and Techniques2007,18,6:1
12Effects of molten material temperatures and coolant temperatures on vapor explosion显示文摘An observable experiment facility for low-temperature molten materials to be dropped into water was set up in this study to investigate the mechanism of the vapor explosion. The effect of the fuel and coolant interaction (FCI) on the vapor explosion during the severe accidents of a fission nuclear reactor has been studied. The experiment results showed that the molten material temperature has an important effect on the vapor explosion behavior and pressure. 13Enhanced mixing state of black carbon with nitrate in single particles during haze periods in Zhengzhou, China显示文摘Black carbon(BC)plays an important role in air quality and climate change,which is closely associated with its mixing state and chemical compositions.In this work the mixing state of BC-containing single particles was investigated to explore the evolution process of ambient BC particles using a single particle aerosol mass spectrometer(SPAMS)in March 2018 in Zhengzhou,China.The BC-containing particles accounted for 61.4%of total detected ambient single particles and were classified into five types including BC-nitrate(BC-N,52.3%)as the most abundant species,followed by BC-nitrate-sulfate(BC-NS,22.4%),BCOC(16.8%),BC-fresh(BC-F,4.5%)and BC-sulfate particles(BC-S,4.0%).With enhancement of the ambient nitrate concentration,the relative peak area(RPA)of nitrate in BC-N and BC–NS particles both increased,yet only the number fraction(N_(f))of BC–N particles increased while the N_(f) of BC-NS particles decreased,suggesting that the enhanced mixing state of BC with nitrate was mainly due to the increase in the ambient nitrate mass concentration.In addition,the Nfof BC-N decreased from 65.3%to 28.4%as the absorbing Angstrom exponents(AAE)of e BC increased from 0.75 to 1.45,which indicated the reduction of light absorption ability of aged BC particles with the enhanced formation of BC-N particles.The results of this work indicated a change in the mixing state of BC particles due to the dominance of nitrate in PM_(2.5),which also influenced the optical properties of aged BC particles.Qianni Zhou Chunlei Cheng Suxia Yang Minghao Yuan Jingjing Meng Haifeng Gong Qien Zhong Yao Zhang Yutong Xie Zhen Zhou Mei Li 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:0
14Microglia in brain aging:An overview of recent basic science and clinical research developments显示文摘Aging is characterized by progressive degeneration of tissues and organs,and it is positively associated with an increased mortality rate.The brain,as one of the most significantly affected organs,experiences age-related changes,including abnormal neuronal activity,dysfunctional calcium homeostasis,dysregulated mitochondrial function,and increased levels of reactive oxygen species.These changes collectively contribute to cognitive deterioration.Aging is also a key risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases,such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.For many years,neurodegenerative disease investigations have primarily focused on neurons,with less attention given to microglial cells.However,recently,microglial homeostasis has emerged as an important mediator in neurological disease pathogenesis.Here,we provide an overview of brain aging from the perspective of the microglia.In doing so,we present the current knowledge on the correlation between brain aging and the microglia,summarize recent progress of investigations about the microglia in normal aging,Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson's disease,Huntington's disease,and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,and then discuss the correlation between the senescent microglia and the brain,which will culminate with a presentation of the molecular complexity involved in the microglia in brain aging with suggestions for healthy aging.Haixia Fan Minheng Zhang Jie Wen Shengyuan Wang Minghao Yuan Houchao Sun Liu Shu Xu Yang Yinshuang Pu Zhiyou Cai 2024The Journal of Biomedical Research2024,38,2:0
15Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND 16Impaired autophagy in amyloid-beta pathology:A traditional review of recent Alzheimer's research显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. The major pathological changes in AD progression are the generation and accumulation of amyloid-beta(Aβ) peptides as well as the presence of abnormally hyperphosphorylated tau proteins in the brain. Autophagy is a conserved degradation pathway that eliminates abnormal protein aggregates and damaged organelles. Previous studies have suggested that autophagy plays a key role in the production and clearance of Aβ peptides to maintain a steady-state of Aβ peptides levels.However, a growing body of evidence suggests that autophagy is significantly impaired in the pathogenesis of AD, especially in Aβ metabolism. Therefore, this article reviews the latest studies concerning the mechanisms of autophagy, the metabolism of Aβ peptides, and the defective autophagy in the production and clearance of Aβpeptides. 17qSTA2-2,a novel QTL that contributes to seed starch synthesis in Zea mays L.显示文摘The seed storage materials accumulate during seed development,and are essential for seed germination and seedling establishment.Here we employed two bi-parental populations of an F2:3 population developed from a cross of improved 220(I220,small seeds with low starch)and PH4CV(large seeds with high starch),as well as recombinant-inbred lines(RILs)of X178(high starch)and its improved introgression line I178(low starch),to identify the genes that control seed storage materials.We identified a total of 12 QTLs for starch,protein and oil,which explained 3.44-10.79%of the phenotypic variances.Among them,qSTA2-1 identified in F2:3 and qSTA2-2 identified in the RILs partially overlapped at an interval of 7.314-9.554 Mb,and they explained 3.44-10.21%of the starch content variation,so they were selected for further study.Fine mapping of qSTA2-2 with the backcrossed populations of ^(I220)/PH4CV in each generation narrowed it down to a 199.7 kb interval that contains 14 open reading frames(ORFs).Transcriptomic analysis of developing seeds from the near-isogenic lines(NILs)of ^(I220)/PH4CV(BC_(5)F_(2))showed that only 11 ORFs were expressed in 20 days after pollination(DAP)seeds.Five of them were upregulated and six of them were downregulated in NIL^(I220),and the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)between NIL^(I220) and NIL^(PH4CV) were enriched in starch metabolism,hormone signal transduction and glycosaminoglycan degradation.Of the eleven NIL^(I220) differential expressed ORFs,ORF4(Zm00001d002260)and ORF5(Zm00001d002261)carry 75%protein sequence similarity,both encodes an glycolate oxidase,were the possible candidates of qSTA2-2.Further analysis and validation indicated that mutation of the qSTA2-2 locus resulted in the dysfunction of ABA accumulation,the embryo/endosperm ratio and the starch and hormone levels.Minghao Cai Xuhui Li Zhi Liang Jie Wang Delin Li Zhipeng Yuan Riliang Gu Jianhua Wang Li Li 2024Journal of Integrative Agriculture2024,23,4:0

19ENHANCING RAINFALL-RUNOFF POLLUTION MODELING BY INCORPORATION OF NEGLECTED PHYSICAL PROCESSES显示文摘The growing need to mitigate rainfall-runoff pollution,especially first flush,calls for accurate quantification of pollution load and the refined understanding of its spatial-temporal variation.The wash-off model has advantages in modeling rainfall-runoff pollution due to the inclusion of two key physical processes,build-up and wash-off.However,this disregards pollution load from wet precipitation and the relationship between rainfall and runoff,leading to uncertainties in model outputs.This study integrated the Soil Conservation Service curve number(SCS-CN)into the wash-off model and added pollutant load from wet precipitation to enhance the rainfall-runoff pollution modeling.The enhanced wash-off model was validated in a typical rural-residential area.The results showed that the model performed better than the established wash-off model and the commonly-used event mean concentrations method,and identified two different modes of pollution characteristics dominated by land pollution and rainfall pollution,respectively.In addition,the model simulated more accurate pollutant concentrations at high-temporal-resolution.From this,it was found that 12%of the total runoff contained 80%to 95%of the total load for chemical oxygen demand,total N,and total P,whereas it contained only 15%of the total load for NH4+-N.The enhanced model can provide deeper insights into non-point pollution mitigation.Mingjin CHENG Xin LIU Han XIAO Fang WANG Minghao PAN Zengwei YUAN Hu SHENG 2023Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2023,10,4:0
20The bright star survey telescope for the planetary transit survey in Antarctica显示文摘Transiting extrasolar planets(exoplanets),especially those orbiting bright stars, are desired for study of the diversity of planetary compositions, internal structures and atmospheres beyond our solar system. Dome A at Antarctica is a promising site for planetary transit surveys,where the continuous darkness and the large clear-sky fraction in the winter months greatly enhance the detection efficiency. The Chinese Small Telescope ARray and the Antarctic Survey Telescopes are the first facilities that have been operated at Dome A for use in exoplanet surveys. To increase the sky coverage, a low-temperature-resistant wide-field robotic telescope, named the bright star survey telescope(BSST), has been developed to join the ongoing planetary transit survey in Antarctica. The BSST has an aperture size of 300 mm and is equipped with a largeframe 4K×4K CCD camera to receive starlight from a 3.°4×3.°4 field of view. The BSST was operated at Lijiang observatory in April and May 2015 for a test run.Photometric precision of 3.5 mmag was achieved for stars with V~11 mag using 75 s exposures.
