5Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices.Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:36

9A step metallogenetic model for gold deposits in the northwestern Shandong Peninsula, China显示文摘Based on our study of the nature and variation of mineralization-controlling faults in their deep extension and the spatial distribution of gold orebodies in the northwestern Shandong Peninsula (NSP), here we propose that the gold deposits in the Jiaojia gold belt are controlled by listric faults and the gold deposits in the NSP are controlled by extensional fault system. We also suggest that there is a multiple mineralization space in the deep part of the NSP gold belt. As steps or benches occur along the deep extention of the listric fault where its dipping angle changes from steep to gentle, a number of gold deposits are correspondingly distributed as a steplike pattern, which is named as a step metallogenetic model for gold deposits in the NSP. The gold deposits in Shandong Peninsula were formed in the Cretaceous when the crust in the region experienced extention and thinning following the strong collision between North China Plate and Yangtze Plate during the Triassic. 10The first all-season sample set for mapping global land cover with Landsat-8 data显示文摘We report the world's first all-season training and validation sample sets for global land cover classification with Landsat-8 data.Prior to this,such samples were only available at a single date primarily from the growing season.It is unknown how much limitation such a single-date sample has to mapping global land cover in other seasons of the year.To answer this question,we selected available Landsat-8 images from four seasons and collected training and validation samples from them.We compared the performances of training samples in different seasons using Random Forest algorithm.We found that the use of training samples from any individual season would result in the best overall classification accuracy when validated by samples in the same season.The global overall accuracy from combined best seasonal results was 67.2% when classifying the 11 Level-1 classes in the Finer Resolution Observation and Monitoring of Global Land Cover(FROM-GLC) classification system.The use of training samples from all seasons(named all-season training sample set hereafter) produced an overall accuracy of 67.0%.We also tested classification within 10° latitude 60° longitude zones using all-season training subsample within each zone and obtained an overall accuracy of 70.2%.This indicates that properly grouped subsamples in space can help improve classification accuracies.All the results in this study seem to suggest that it is possible to use an all-season training sample set to reach global optimality with universal applicability in classifying images acquired at any time of a year for global land cover mapping.Congcong Li Peng Gong Jie Wang Zhiliang Zhu Gregory S. 12mm Wave communications for 5G: implementation challenges and advances显示文摘The requirement of the fifth generation(5 G) wireless communication for high throughput motivates the wireless industry to use the mm Wave(millimeter wave) communications for its wide bandwidth advantage. To compensate the heavy path loss and increase the communications capacity, phased array beamforming and massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) techniques are employed at both the user equipment(UE) and base stations(BS). Considering the commercial requirements, 5 G mm Wave large array systems should be implemented in an energy-and cost-efficient way with a small form factor. To address above issues and realize a reliable communications link, taking into account the particular characteristics of5 G mm Wave systems, this paper firstly examines the design challenges and trade-offs in system implementations, then some of the design strategies are summarized. 13Laparoscopic resection of lower rectal cancer with telescopic anastomosis without abdominal incisions显示文摘AIM:To assess laparoscopic radical resection of lower rectal cancer with telescopic anastomosis through transanal resection without abdominal incisions.METHODS:From March 2010 to June 2014, 30 patients(14 men and 16 women, aged 36-78 years, mean age 59.8 years) underwent laparoscopic radical resection of lower rectal cancer with telescopic anastomosis through anus-preserving transanal resection.The tumors were 5-7 cm away from the anal margin in 24 cases, and 4 cm in six cases.In preoperative assessment, there were 21 cases of T1N0M0 and nine of T2N0M0.Through the middle approach, the sigmoid mesentery was freed at the root with an ultrasonic scalpel and the roots of the inferior mesenteric artery and vein were dissected, clamped and cut.Following the total mesorectal excision principle, the rectum was separated until the anorectal ring reached 3-5 cm from the distal end of the tumor.For perineal surgery, a ring incision was made 2 cm above the dentate line, and sharp dissection was performed submucosally towards the superior direction, until the plane of the levator ani muscle, to transect the rectum.The rectum and distal sigmoid colon were removed together from the anus, followed by a telescopic anastomosis between the full thickness of the proximal colon and the mucosa and submucosal tissue of the rectum.RESULTS:For the present cohort of 30 cases,the mean operative time was 178 min,with an average of 13 positive lymph nodes detected.One case of postoperative anastomotic leak was observed,requiring temporary colostomy,which was closed and recovered3 mo later.The postoperative pathology showed T1-T2N0M0 in 19 cases and T2N1M0 in 11 cases.Twelve months after surgery,94.4%patients achieved anal function Kirwan grade 1,indicating that their analfunction returned to normal.The patients were followed up for 1-36 mo,with an average of 23 mo.There was no local recurrence,and 17 patients survived for>3years(with a survival rate of 100%).CONCLUSION:Laparoscopic radical resection of lower rectal cancer with telescopic anastomosis through transanal resection without abdominal incisions is safe and feasible.Shi-Yong Li Gang Chen Jun-Feng Du Guang Chen Xiao-Jun Wei Wei Cui Fu-Yi Zuo Bo Yu Xing Dong Xi-Qing Ji Qiang Yuan 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,16:19
14Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. 16Screening of a Composite Microbial System and Its Characteristics of Wheat Straw Degradation显示文摘To accelerate the decomposition of wheat straw directly returned to soil, we constructed a microbial system (ADS-3) from agricultural soil containing rotting straw residues using a 40-wk limited cultivation. To assess its potential use for accelerating straw decomposing, the decomposing characteristics and the microbial composition of ADS-3 were analyzed. The results indicated that it could degrade wheat straw and filter paper by 63.8 and 80%, respectively, during 15 d of incubation. Straw hemicellulose degraded dramatically 51.2% during the first 3 d, decreasing up to 73.7% by the end of incubation. Cellulose showed sustained degradation reaching 53.3% in 15 d. Peak values of xylanase and cellulase activities appeared at 3 and 11 d, with 1.32 and 0.15 U mL-1, respectively. Estimated pH averaged 6.4-7.6 during the degradation process, which approximated acidity and alkalinity of normal soils. The microbial composition of ADS-3 was stable based on denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis. By using bacterial 16S rRNA and fungal 26S rRNA gene clone library analysis, 20 bacterial clones and 7 fungal clones were detected. 17The effects of fermentation and adsorption using lactic acid bacteria culture broth on the feed quality of rice straw显示文摘To improve the nutritional value and the palatability of air-dried rice straw, culture broth of the lactic acid bacteria community SFC-2 was used to examine the effects of two different treatments, fermentation and adsorption. Air-dried and chopped rice straw was treated with either fermentation for 30 d after adding 1.5 L nutrient solution(50 m L inocula L–1, 1.2×1012 CFU m L–1 inocula) kg–1 straw dry matter, or spraying a large amount of culture broth(1.5 L kg–1 straw dry matter, 1.5×1011 CFU m L–1 culture broth) on the straw and allowing it to adsorb for 30 min. The feed quality and aerobic stability of the resulting forage were examined. Both treatments improved the feed quality of rice straw, and adsorption was better than fermentation for preserving nutrients and improving digestibility, as evidenced by higher dry matter(DM) and crude protein(CP) concentrations, lower neutral detergent fiber(NDF), acid detergent fiber(ADF) and NH3-N concentrations, as well as higher lactic acid production and in vitro digestibility of DM(IVDMD). The aerobic stability of the adsorbed straw and the fermented straw was 392 and 480 h, respectively. 18Calcium channel blockers reduce severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) related fatality显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS),an emerging tick-borne infectious disease caused by a novel phlebovirus (SFTS virus, SFTSV), was listed among the top 10 priority infectious diseases by the World Health Organization due to its high fatality of 12%-50% and possibility of pandemic transmission. Here, by screening a library of FDA-approved drugs, we found that benidipine hydrochloride, a calcium channel blocker (CCB), inhibited SFTSV replication in vitro. Benidipine hydrochloride was revealed to inhibit virus infection through impairing virus internalization and genome replication. Further experiments showed that a broad panel of CCBs, including nifedipine, inhibited SFTSV infection. The anti-SFTSV effect of these two CCBs was further an a lyzed in a humanized mouse model in which CCB treatment resulted in reduced viral load and decreased fatality rate. Importantly, by performing a retrospective clinical investigation on a large cohort of 2087 SFTS patients, we revealed that nifedipine administration enhaneed virus clearance, improved clinical recovery, and remarkably reduced the case fatality rate by >5-fold. 19Can acupuncture therapy reduce preoperative anxiety?A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Acupuncture therapy has shown promise for effectively relieving preoperative anxiety.Nevertheless,previous findings from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)are inconsistent and must be examined in detail.Objective:This study systematically evaluates the efficacy and safety of acupuncture therapy for preoperative anxiety as well as the quality of evidence supporting this application.Search strategy:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,Wanfang Data Journal Database,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,Chongqing VIP,Embase,Pub Med and Cochrane Library Databases were queried from their inception to 19,February 2020,using keywords such as“acupuncture therapy,”“preoperative”and“anxioty.”Manual searches expanded the search breadth and included conference abstracts and other reference lists.Inclusion criteria:RCTs were included in the current study if they contained a comparison between a group of anxiety patients that received acupuncture therapy and a control group that received sham acupuncture.Data extraction and analysis:Literature was reviewed,and various articles were selected using the Note Express 3.2.0 software.Two researchers independently screened and extracted data and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies.The Rev Man 5.3 software was used for data aggregation and the Grades of Recommendation,Assessment,Development and Evaluation(GRADE)assessment was used to evaluate the quality of the study outcomes.Results:Twelve studies were included in the review,containing a total of 916 patients.Meta-analysis showed that,compared with the control group,patients who received acupuncture therapy had reduced State-Trait Anxiety Inventory Scale(STAI-S)score(mean difference[MD]=–9.07,95%confidence interval[CI][–13.19 to–4.96],P<0.0001)and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score(MD=–1.37,95%CI[–2.29 to–0.45],P=0.003).However,for the Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)score,there was no difference between the two groups(MD=–3.98,95%CI[–12.89 to 4.92],P=0.38).Further,the GRADE assessment demonstrated that the STAI-S was of moderate quality,the VAS of low quality and the HAMA of very low quality.Conclusion:Acupuncture therapy may be able to decrease anxiety in preoperative patients,but the results need to be further verified due to the small sample sizes and the low quality of evidence to date.Qiu-yu Tong Ran Liu Kun Zhang Yuan G ao Guang-wei Cui Wei-dong Shen 2021Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,1:15
20Inhibition of autophagy significantly enhances combination therapy with sorafenib and HDAC inhibitors for human hepatoma cells显示文摘AIM:To clarify whether histone deacetylase inhibitors histone deacetylase inhibitors(HDACIs)can sensitize hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)cells to sorafenib treatment.METHODS:Bax,Bcl-2,ATG5-ATG12,p21,and p27protein levels in Hep3B,HepG2,and PLC/PRF/5 cells were examined by Western blot.CCK8 and a fluorometric caspase-3 assay were used to examine cellular viability and apoptosis levels.The effect of Beclin-1 on sensitization of HCC cells to sorafenib was examined by transfecting Beclin-1 siRNA into Hep3B,HepG2,and PLC/PRF/5 cells.RESULTS:Autophagy inhibition enhances the inhibitory effects of vorinostat and sorafenib alone or in combination on HCC cell growth.Vorinostat and sorafenib synergistically induced apoptosis and cell cycle alterations.Western blot data indicated that HDACIs and Beclin-1 knockdown increased the p53 acetylation level.The knockdown of Beclin-1 enhanced the synergistic effect of the combination of vorinostat with sorafenib.CONCLUSION:HDACIs can sensitize HCC cells to sorafenib treatment by regulating the acetylation level of Beclin-1.Hang Yuan Ai-Jun Li Sen-Lin Ma Long-Jiu Cui Bin Wu Lei Yin Meng-Chao Wu 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,17:15
