1Schistosoma japonicum infection induces macrophage polarization显示文摘The role of macrophages(Mφ)as the first line of host defense is well accepted.These cells play a central role in orchestrating crucial functions during schistosomal infection.Thus,understanding the functional diversity of these cells in the process of infection as well as the mechanisms underlying these events is crucial for developing disease control strategies.In this study,we adopted a Mφpolarization recognition system.Ml macrophage was characterized by expressing CD16/32,IL-12 and iNOS.M2 macrophage was characterized by expressing CD206,IL-10 and arg-1.In vivo(mouse peritoneal macrophages of different infection stages were obtained)and in vitro(different 5.japonicum antigens were used to stimulate RAW264.7)were characterized by using the above mentioned system.NCA and ACA stimulated RAW264.7 express significantly higher levels of IL-12 while significantly higher levels of IL-10 were detected after soluble egg antigen(SEA)stimulation.The results showed that dramatic changes of antigen in the microenvironment before and after egg production led to macrophage polarization.Furthermore,through TLR blocking experiments,the TLR4 signaling pathway was found to play a role in the process of macrophage polarization toward Ml.Our data suggest that macrophage polarization during S.japonicum infection had significant effects on host immune responses to S.japonicum.Jingwei Xu Hao Zhang Lin Chen Donghui Zhang Minjun Ji Haiwei Wu Guanling Wu 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,4:20

3Laser performance of the SG-Ⅲ laser facility显示文摘SG-Ⅲ laser facility is now the largest laser driver for inertial confinement fusion research in China. 5Co-occurrence Patterns of Above-ground and Below-ground Mite Communities in Farmland of Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China显示文摘One of the fundamental questions in community ecology is whether communities are random or formed by deterministic mechanisms. Although many efforts have been made to verify non-randomness in community structure, little is known with regard to co-occurrence patterns in above-ground and below-ground communities. In this paper, we used a null model to test non-randomness in the structure of the above-ground and below-ground mite communities in farmland of the Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China. Then, we used four tests for non-randomness to recognize species pairs that would be demonstrated as significantly aggregated or segregated co-occurrences of the above-ground and below-ground mite communities. The co-occurrence pattern of the above-ground mite community was significantly non-random in October, suggesting species segregation and hence interspecific competition. Additionally, species co-occurrence patterns did not differ from randomness in the above-ground mite community in August or in below-ground mite communities in August and October. Only one significant species pair was detected in the above-ground mite community in August, while no significant species pairs were recognized in the above-ground mite community in October or in the below-ground mite communities in August and October. 15A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. 18Some new Hydroidomedusa(Cnidaria) from the northern South China Sea显示文摘The study reviews all medusa genera and species belonging to the families Bougainvilliidae, Eucodoniidae, Proboscidactylidae, Corymorphidae and Sugiuridae from the northern South China Sea. A new genus Xu, Guo & Wang, gen. nov. is erected under the family Sugiuridae, based on the monotype, Monocanna ovale(Mayer, 1900) comb. nov. from Gastroblasta. Four new species, Nubiella terminaliknoba Xu, Guo & Wang sp. nov., Paranubiella shenzhenensis Xu, Huang & Wang, sp. nov., Eucodonium crassonemalis Xu, Guo & Lin, sp. nov. and Proboscidactyla trifurcata Xu, Huang & Guo, sp. nov., are described and illustrated here. The species Euphysora knides Huang, 1999 stat. rev. is revised to be a valid species. The keys to known genera of families Corymorphidae, Sugiuridae and species of genera Paranubiella, Eucodonium, Proboscidactyla are provided.
