1The Mars rover subsurface penetrating radar onboard China's Mars 2020 mission显示文摘China's Mars probe, named Tianwen-1,including an orbiter and a landing rover, will be launched during the July-August 2020 Mars launch windows.Selected to be among the rover payloads is a Subsurface Penetrating Radar module(RoSPR).The main scientific objective of the RoSPR is to characterize the thickness and sub-layer distribution of the Martian soil. The RoSPR consists of two channels. The low frequency channel of the RoSPR will penetrate the Martian soil to depths of 10 to 100 m with a resolution of a few meters. The higher frequency channel will penetrate to a depth of 3 to 10 m with a resolution of a few centimeters. This paper describes the design of the instrument and some results of field experiments.Bin Zhou ShaoXiang Shen Wei Lu Qing Liu ChuanJun Tang ShiDong Li GuangYou Fang 2020Earth and Planetary Physics2020,4,4:6
2CLUTTER SUPPRESSION METHOD IN GPR USING PARTICLE CLUSTERING显示文摘In this paper, a novel clutter suppression method in Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is proposed. Time segments of hill are represented by their corresponding particle in B-scan. Those particles in B-scan are clustered to represent reflectors (such as buried targets, air-soil interface). The clusters of buried target have a particle sequence with single peak. Therefore, if the particles donot belong to the cluster of buried target, time segment they represent will be suppressed. Experimental results and simulation are provided to demonstrate that the new algorithm outperforms existing approaches.Lu Cewu Liu Xiaojun Zhao Bo Fang Guangyou 2009Journal of Electronics(China)2009,26,5:3
3A new image processing method for discriminating internal layers from radio echo sounding data of ice sheets via a combined robust principal component analysis and total variation approach显示文摘Discriminating internal layers by radio echo sounding is important in analyzing the thickness and ice deposits in the Antarctic ice sheet. The signal processing method of synthesis aperture radar(SAR)has been widely used for improving the signal to noise ratio(SNR)and discriminating internal layers by radio echo sounding data of ice sheets. This method is not efficient when we use edge detection operators to obtain accurate information of the layers, especially the ice-bed interface. This paper presents a new image processing method via a combined robust principal component analysis-total variation(RPCA-TV)approach for discriminating internal layers of ice sheets by radio echo sounding data. The RPCA-based method is adopted to project the high-dimensional observations to low-dimensional subspace structure to accelerate the operation of the TV-based method, which is used to discriminate the internal layers. The efficiency of the presented method has been tested on simulation data and the dataset of the Institute of Electronics,Chinese Academy of Sciences, collected during CHINARE 28.The results show that the new method is more efficient than the previous method in discriminating internal layers of ice sheets by radio echo sounding data.LANG ShiNan ZHAO Bo LIU XiaoJun FANG GuangYou 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,4:2
4Lithospheric structures across the Qiman Tagh and western Qaidam Basin revealed by magnetotelluric data collected using a self-developed SEP system显示文摘Geophysics offers an important means to investigate the physical processes occurring inside the earth. In particular, since the 1960s,electromagnetic(EM)methods have played important roles in mineral exploration and engineering investigation.Such investigation requires extensive data acquisition and experimental analysis based on geophysical techniques.However,high-performance geophysical equipment, particularly EM exploration equipment, has been dominated by large geophysical companies from the United States,Canada,Germany, and other European countries for decades. This has limited the development of deep exploration technology in China.Recently,we have developed a high-resolution acquisition system with a wireless control unit and a high-power transmitting system for surface EM prospecting(SEP).The new system has been tested in the high-intensity,noisy environment in Jian-sanjiang area,Heilongjiang Province. We then conducted a field survey on the western edge of Qaidam Basin,Qinghai Province.A highly conductive anomaly was found in the upper mantle below the Qinmantage Mountains, which indicates a possible northward fluid channel that runs from below the Qinmantage Mountains to the bottom of the western crust of the Qaidam Basin.Identification of this significant feature was made possible by the new SEP for its better resolution than the previous systems. Also, geophysical analysis confirmed that the thick Cenozoic sediments of the Qaidam Basin are underlain by rigid Precambrian basement rocks and are characterized by a series of folds. The resistivity profile indicates that the Qaidam Basin was formed due to the folding structures in the northern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau which provided an additional evidence for the uplifting of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Qingyun DI Guoqiang XUE Zhongxing WANG Lanfang HE Renzhong PEI Tianxin ZHANG Guangyou FANG 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,10:2

7NON-DESTRUCTIVE PAVEMENT LAYER THICKNESS MEASUREMENT USING EMPIRICAL MODE DECOMPOSITION WITH GPR显示文摘Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) is an effective Non-Destructive Testing(NDT) technique for highway pavement surveys, which is able to acquire continuous pavement data compared with traditional core drilling method. In this study, we proposed an accurate and efficient method to estimate the thickness of each pavement layer using an air-coupled GPR system. For this work, the main difficulties are estimating each pavement layer's time delay and dielectric constant. We first give the basic signal model for pavement evaluation, and then present an Intrinsic Mode Functions(IMFs) product detector to determine each pavement layer's time delay. This method is based on Empirical Mode Decomposition(EMD), which is an adaptive signal decomposition procedure and proved to be suitable for suppressing noises in GPR signal. The dielectric constant was determined by metal reflection measurement. The laboratory and highway experiments illustrate that the proposed thickness estimation method yields reasonable result, thus meets the requirements of practical highway pavement survey with massive GPR data.Li Qiang Chen Jie Liu Xiaojun Fang Guangyou 2014Journal of Electronics(China)2014,31,6:1

10AN ULTRA-WIDEBAND ANTENNA FOR THE REINFORCED CONCRETE DETECTION显示文摘In this paper,an Ultra-Wideband(UWB) planar antenna is proposed for the reinforced concrete detection, which consists of a pair of planar waterdrop arms,a microstrip to coplanar parallel-strips transition and a shallow rectangular cavity. In order to overcome the disadvantages of the shallow cavity, some absorbing material is loaded to weaken the narrow-band effect of the cavity and the crosstalk interference. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed antenna has a large bandwidth from 0.48 GHz to 3.6 GHz with Voltage Standing Wave Ratio(VSWR) below 2 and a fractional bandwidth about 200% under the center frequency of 1.6 GHz,directional radiation characteristics and small late-time ringing in the time domain, which can be suitable for nondestructive detection of the reinforced concrete.Shao Jinjin Xia Zhenghuan Ji Yicai Fang Guangyou Yin Hejun 2013Journal of Electronics(China)2013,30,6:0
11NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF TIME-DOMAIN EM SCATTERING BY SHALLOW SUBSURFACE OBJECTS显示文摘The time-domain ElectroMagnetic(EM) scattering by buried objects in dispersive media is calculated with FD-TD method. The FD-TD formula in Debye dispersive media (both the complex permeability and the complex permittivity are described by Debye equations) are deduced, and the absorbing boundary condition is given. The validity of FD-TD method in lossy media is verified through comparing the FD-TD’s results and the other ones. The propagation of transient pulses in dispersive media is studied in detail. The scattering pulses and the wiggle traces for typical buried objects are given.Fang Guangyou Zhang Zhongzhi (China Hesearch Institute of Radiowave Propagation, Xinxiaog 453003)Wang Wenbing(Xi’aa Jiaotong University, Xi’an 710049) 1996Journal of Electronics(China)1996,13,3:0
12STATISTICAL APPROXIMATION BASED FINE FREQUENCY SYNCHRONIZATION FOR OFDM SYSTEMS显示文摘The paper proposes a novel approach for fine frequency synchronization of OFDM syn- chronization systems in multi-path channels. Maximum Likelihood (ML) function of frequency offsets including integral and decimal parts in frequency domain is developed according to the law of great number to eliminate the noise impact of the signal. When the timing delay close to the actual time, the proposed function produces a deep valley indicating frequency offset when large Valley-Square- Error (VSE) appears. Coarse timing offset can also be detected when function’s Valley-Square-Error (VSE) is maximized. Simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm gives very robust estimation of frequency offset, and a coarse timing offset estimation.Lu Cewu Liu Xiaojun Kuang Yujun Fang Guangyou Chen Qianbin 2007Journal of Electronics(China)2007,24,6:0
13Design of Pyramidal Horn with Arbitrary E/H Plane Half-Power Beamwidth显示文摘This paper proposes a novel design method for pyramid horns which are under the constraints of 3 dB beamwidth. It is based on the general radiation patterns of E/H planes derived from Huygens’principle.Through interpolation and fitting techniques, the E/H plane’s maximum aperture error parameter of the pyramid horn is obtained as a function of the angle and aperture electrical size.Firstly, the aperture size of the E(or H)plane is calculated with the help of the optimal gain principle.Secondly, the constraint equation of another plane is derived. Finally, the intersection of constraint equation and interpolation function, which can be solved iteratively, contains all the solution information. The general radiation patterns neglect the influence of the Huygens element factor which makes the error bigger in large design beamwidth. In this paper, through theoretical analysis and simulation experiments, two correction formulas are employed to correct the Huygens element factor’s influence on the E/H planes.Simulation experiments and measurements show that the proposed method has a smaller design error in the range of 0-60 degrees half-power beamwidth.ZHANG Wenrui SHAO Wenyuan JI Yicai LI Chao YANG Guan LU Wei FANG Guangyou 2023Chinese Journal of Electronics2023,32,4:0
14A COMPACT AND HANDHELD SURFACE PENETRATING RADAR FOR THE DETECTION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES显示文摘Surface Penetrating Radar (SPR) is a recently developed technology for non-destructive testing. It can be used to image and interpret the inner structure of the reinforced concrete. This paper gives the details about a compact and handheld SPR developed recently for reinforced concrete structure detection. The center operation frequency of the radar is 1.6 GHz. Not only it has fast acquisition ability, but also it can display the testing result on the LCD screen in real-time. The testing results show that the radar has a penetrating range of more than 30 cm, and a lateral resolution better than 5 cm. The performance validates that the radar can meet the application requirements for reinforced concrete structure detection.Zhou Bin Ye Shengbo Xia Xinfan Shao Jinjin Liu Lihua Fang Guangyou 2013Journal of Electronics(China)2013,30,4:0

16Through-Wall Tracking of Human Movers Using Continuous-Wave Radar显示文摘An intelligent frequency fitting algorithm is presented for continuous-wave radar to track human movers through walls. With the proper fitting dimension, which is usually determined by the practical detection requirements, this technique can improve the localization accuracy and the tracking performance without introducing too much calculation burden, and more precisely identify different targets even in the frequency ambiguous areas. This technology can also help to match the estimation results to their corresponding targets automatically, which is of great importance to certain urban sensing applications, such as specific target surveillance and tracking. To further improve the detection performance and better identify the weak targets in the presence of strong noise, CLEAN algorithm and adaptive filter technology are also involved.Experimental results are provided to illustrate the algorithm performance.DING Yipeng TANG Jingtian Cheng Dong Fang Guangyou 2014Chinese Journal of Electronics2014,23,2:0
17An ultra-sensitive metasurface biosensor for instant cancer detection based on terahertz spectra显示文摘Metasurface biosensors have become the core label-free and rapid-detection technology in bioanalysis.Lung cancer and brain cancer are the first leading causes of cancer death among adults and adolescents, respectively, where poor early diagnosis results from expensive detection costs and time consumption. To tackle the above problems, here,we introduce a terahertzdomain metasurface biosensor for cancer diagnosis, relying on a perfectly symmetrical periodic surface structure, which significantly exhibits polarization-insensitivity at 2.05 THz and the high-sensitivity of 504 GHz/RIU(RIU=refractive index unit).According to the frequency shifts and transmittance variations, four cell types are successfully distinguished from each other. The minimum number of cells is required for thousands of cells to display the differences of spectra, which is 1/30 of clinical methods.Furthermore, the results were consistent with pathological results(the gold standard in clinic)by Gaussian curve fitting. The proposed biosensor has really achieved the characterization of cells in normal and cancerous state. This detection strategy dramatically reduced the cost of detection by reuse and time consumption was reduced to 1/20 of the pathology testing. In addition,it is flexible to set samples and easy to realize automatic operation due to the great polarization-insensitivity of the proposed biosensor, which can further reduce labor costs in the future. It is envisioned that the proposed biosensor will present immense potential in the fields of cancer detection, distinguishing different cancers, identifying primary lesion cancer or metastatic cancer.Peiliang Wang Jing Lou Yun Yu Lang Sun Lan Sun Guangyou Fang Chao Chang 2023Nano Research2023,16,5:0
184-ELEMENT PLANAR ARRAY ANTENNA FOR UWB APPLICATION显示文摘A novel low-cost 4-element planar array antenna directly fed by a coaxial cable for Ultra-WideBand(UWB) application is presented. The proposed antenna consists of 2×2 bowtie elements and a simple 1:4 power divider feeding network. Compared to the basic bowtie element, the impedance bandwidth of the array antenna has a significant improvement that the low cut-off frequency is extended from 6 GHz of the bowtie element to 2 GHz. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has a large bandwidth of 2 GHz to 11 GHz for Voltage Standing Wave Ratio(VSWR)<2, and exhibits a bidirectional radiation pattern and a modest gain across the operating band and a peak gain of about 9 dBi at 11 GHz.Chen Chao Shao Jinjin Meng Shengwei Fang Guangyou Yin Hejun 2014Journal of Electronics(China)2014,31,3:0
19PULSE SHRINKING TIME-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER FOR UWB APPLICATION显示文摘A kind of architecture of Time-to-Digital Converter(TDC) for Ultra-WideBand(UWB) application is presented. The proposed TDC is based on pulse shrinking, and implemented in a Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA) device. The pulse shrinking is realized in a loop containing two Programmable Delay Lines(PDLs) or a two-channel PDL. One line(channel) delays the rising edge and the other line(channel) delays the falling edge of a circulating pulse. Delay resolution of PDL is converted into a digital output code under known conditions of pulse width. This delay resolution measurement mechanism is different from the conventional time interval measurement mechanism based on pulse shrinking of conversion of unknown pulse width into a digital output code. This mechanism automatically avoids the influence of unwanted pulse shrinking by any circuit element apart from the lines. The achieved relative errors for four PDLs are within 0.80%–1.60%.Chen Chao Meng Shengwei Xia Zhenghuan Fang Guangyou Yin Hejun 2014Journal of Electronics(China)2014,31,3:0
20EFFICIENT COMPUTATIONAL METHOD FOR TRANSIENT EM RESPONSE OF LARGE-LOOP SOURCE OVER LAYERED EARTH显示文摘Calculations of the ElectroMagnetic(EM) response produced by a large horizontal loop placed over layered medium are rather complex because its integral expression contains the product of two Bessel functions and has a divergent term. In this paper, an improved fast Hankel and Gaver-Stehfest transforms are introduced to solve the strong-oscillation and slow-decay properties of the integrand, where one Bessel function in the product is substituted by a carefully chosen polynomial of high accuracy and the other used as the digital filter coefficients in the convolution integral. Comparisons prove the validity and the efficiency of the proposed method.Qi Youzheng Huang Ling Zhao Haitao Fang Guangyou Yu Gang 2014Journal of Electronics(China)2014,31,3:0
