1Dietary modulation of endogenous host defense peptide synthesis as an alternative approach to in-feed antibiotics显示文摘Traditionally, antibiotics are included in animal feed at subtherapeutic levels for growth promotion and disease prevention.However, recent links between in-feed antibiotics and a rise in antibiotic-resistant pathogens have led to a ban of all antibiotics in livestock production by the European Union in January 2006 and a removal of medically important antibiotics in animal feeds in the United States in January 2017.An urgent need arises for antibiotic alternatives capable of maintaining animal health and productivity without triggering antimicrobial resistance.Host defense peptides(HDP) are a critical component of the animal innate immune system with direct antimicrobial and immunomodulatory activities.While in-feed supplementation of recombinant or synthetic HDP appears to be effective in maintaining animal performance and alleviating clinical symptoms in the context of disease, dietary modulation of the synthesis of endogenous host defense peptides has emerged as a cost-effective,antibiotic-alternative approach to disease control and prevention.Several different classes of smallmolecule compounds have been found capable of promoting HDP synthesis.Among the most efficacious compounds are butyrate and vitamin D.Moreover, butyrate and vitamin D synergize with each other in enhancing HDP synthesis.This review will focus on the regulation of HDP synthesis by butyrate and vitamin D in humans, chickens, pigs, and cattle and argue for potential application of HDP-inducing compounds in antibiotic-free livestock production.Kelsy Robinson Xi Ma Yulan Liu Shiyan Qiao Yongqing Hou Guolong Zhang 2018Animal Nutrition2018,,2:9

3An Overview of Mineral Dust Modeling over East Asia显示文摘East Asian dust(EAD) exerts considerable impacts on the energy balance and climate/climate change of the earth system through its influence on solar and terrestrial radiation, cloud properties, and precipitation efficiency. Providing an accurate description of the life cycle and climate effects of EAD is therefore critical to better understanding of climate change and socioeconomic development in East Asia and even worldwide. Dust modeling has undergone substantial development since the late 1990 s, associated with improved understanding of the role of EAD in the earth system. Here, we review the achievements and progress made in recent decades in terms of dust modeling research,including dust emissions, long-range transport, radiative forcing(RF), and climate effects of dust particles over East Asia. Numerous efforts in dust/EAD modeling have been directed towards furnishing more sophisticated physical and chemical processes into the models on higher spatial resolutions. Meanwhile, more systematic observations and more advanced retrieval methods for instruments that address EAD related science issues have made it possible to evaluate model results and quantify the role of EAD in the earth system, and to further reduce the uncertainties in EAD simulations. Though much progress has been made, large discrepancies and knowledge gaps still exist among EAD simulations. 4Screen-imaging guidance using a modified portable video macroscope for middle cerebral artery occlusion显示文摘The use of operating microscopes is limited by the focal length.Surgeons using these instruments cannot simultaneously view and access the surgical field and must choose one or the other.The longer focal length (more than 1 000 mm) of an operating telescope permits a position away from the operating field,above the surgeon and out of the field of view.This gives the telescope an advantage over an operating microscope.We developed a telescopic system using screen-imaging guidance and a modified portable video macroscope constructed from a Computar MLH-10 × macro lens,a DFK-21AU04 USB CCD Camera and a Dell laptop computer as monitor screen.This system was used to establish a middle cerebral artery occlusion model in rats.Results showed that magnification of the modified portable video macroscope was appropriate (5-20 ×) even though the Computar MLH-10 × macro lens was placed 800 mm away from the operating field rather than at the specified working distance of 152.4 mm with a zoom of 1-40 ×.The screen-imaging telescopic technique was clear,life-like,stereoscopic and matched the actual operation.Screen-imaging guidance led to an accurate,smooth,minimally invasive and comparatively easy surgical procedure.Success rate of the model establishment evaluated by neurological function using the modified neurological score system was 74.07%.There was no significant difference in model establishment time,sensorimotor deficit and infarct volume percentage.Our findings indicate that the telescopic lens is effective in the screen surgical operation mode referred to as 'long distance observation and short distance operation' and that screen-imaging guidance using an modified portable video macroscope can be utilized for the establishment of a middle cerebral artery occlusion model and micro-neurosurgery.Xingbao Zhu Junli Luo Yun Liu Guolong Chen Song Liu Qiangjin Ruan Xunding Deng Dianchun Wang Quanshui Fan Xinghua Pan 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,12:6
5Effect of cold rolling process on microstructure and mechanical properties of high strength β titanium alloy thin sheets显示文摘The microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-3.5Al-5Mo-6V-3Cr-2Sn-0.5Fe high strength titanium alloy sheets prepared by unidirectional cold rolling and two-step cross cold rolling were investigated. Results showed that the β phase grains were refined significantly by cold rolling followed by solution treatment for a short time.Compared to unidirectional cold rolling, the short time solution treatment after two-step cross rolling could significantly reduce the non-uniformity of the microstructure of the alloy sheets. After aging treatment at 550 ℃,the anisotropy of the mechanical properties still existed in the unidirectional rolled sheets, and the tensile strength was highest along the rolling direction. 7Improved Relief Grinding Method of Gear Hob with Equal Relief Angle显示文摘The regrinding error is the main factor affecting the eligible length of hob tooth,how to decrease the regrinding error is a hot issue in the research area of hob grinding.At present,researches focus on changing the trajectory of relief moving,because of no unified relief grinding path planning method,the research result is restricted in the practical application.For solving the problem,the calculation model of the hob relief angle is established with the Archimedes relieving motion to analyze the interaction between the increasing relief angle of the hob and the accelerating tooth profile errors.Based on it,the improved relief grinding method of gear hob is proposed with equal relief angle(ERA).Furthermore,the relief grinding method with ERA is developed with the following two steps.Firstly,the convergence numerical solution algorithm of the tooth top curve is designed to form the wheel motion path which is compared with that of traditional grinding.The second step is to establish the solution model of ERA grinding wheel.In order to verify the effect of the method,hob grinding simulation system of 3D solid was built under the AutoCAD environment.The regrinding errors is analyzed by intercepting the hob axial profiles of the various regrinding angles with Boolean operations and further converting it to basic rack tooth,then the simulation example of zero rake straight flute hob is used to compare the regrinding errors between ERA grinding and traditional grinding.Finally,the experiments were implemented on the five-axis CNC relief grinder with the relief motion of ERA grinding driven by cam.The results of experiments show that the method can effectively reduce the regrinding errors of hob and grind expediently gear hob of AA rank and over.This research provide an effective model of relief moving path plan reducing regrinding error,and have practicable value in CNC relief grinder.LI Guolong SUN Menghui LI Xianguang LIU Fei HUANG Chao 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,5:4

9Fabrication of magnetic multi-template molecularly imprinted polymer composite for the selective and efficient removal of tetracyclines from water显示文摘Antibiotic contamination of the water environment has attracted much attention from researchers because of their potential hazards to humans and ecosystems.In this study,a multi-template molecularly imprinted polymer(MIP)modified mesoporous silica coated magnetic graphene oxide(MGO@MS@MIP)was prepared by the surface imprinting method via a sol-gel process and was used for the selective,efficient and simultaneous removal of tetracyclines(TCs),including doxycycline(DC),tetracycline(TC),chlorotetracycline(CTC)and oxytetracycline(OTC)from water.The synthesized MIP composite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,transmission electron microscope and thermogravimetric analysis.The adsorption properties of MGO@MS@MIP for these TCs were characterized through adsorption kinetics,isotherms and selectivity tests.The MIP composite revealed larger adsorption quantities,excellent selectivity and rapid kinetics for these four tetracyclines.The adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic and followed the Freundlich isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.The MGO@MS@MIP could specifically recognize DC,TC,CTC and OTC in the presence of some chemical analogs.In addition,the sorption capacity of the MIP composite did not decrease significantly after repeated application for at least five cycles.Thus,the prepared magnetic MIP composite has great potential to contribute to the effective separation and removal of tetracyclines from water.Guolong Zeng Yiyang Liu Xiaoguo Ma Yinming Fan 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,5:3

11Linkage between the intestinal microbiota and residual feed intake in broiler chickens显示文摘Background:Intestinal microbiota plays a key role in nutrient digestion and utilization with a profound impact on feed efficiency of livestock animals.However,the intestinal microbes that are critically involved in feed efficiency remain elusive.Methods:To identify intestinal bacteria associated with residual feed intake(RFI)in chickens,male Cobb broiler chicks were individually housed from day 14 to day 35.Individual RFI values were calculated for 56 chickens.Luminal contents were collected from the ileum,cecum,and cloaca of each animal on day 35.Bacterial DNA was isolated and subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Intestinal microbiota was classified to the feature level using Deblur and QIIME 2.High and low RFI groups were formed by selecting 15 and 17 chickens with the most extreme RFI values for subsequent LEfSe comparison of the difference in the microbiota.Spearman correlation analysis was further performed to identify correlations between the intestinal microbiota composition and RFI.Results:No significant difference in evenness,richness,and overall diversity of the microbiota in the ileum,cecum,or cloaca was observed between high and low RFI chickens.However,LEfSe analysis revealed a number of bacterial features being differentially enriched in either high or low RFI chickens.Spearman correlation analysis further identified many differentially enriched bacterial features to be significantly correlated with RFI(P<0.05).Importantly,not all short-chain fatty acid(SCFA)producers showed a positive association with RFI.While two novel members of Oscillibacter and Butyricicoccus were more abundant in low-RFI,high-efficiency chickens,several other SCFA producers such as Subdoligranulum variabile and two related Peptostreptococcaceae members were negatively associated with feed efficiency.Moreover,a few closely-related Lachnospiraceae family members showed a positive correlation with feed efficiency,while others of the same family displayed an opposite relationship.Conclusions:Our results highlight the complexity of the intestinal microbiota and a need to differentiate the bacteria to the species,subspecies,and even strain levels in order to reveal their true association with feed efficiency.Identification of RFI-associated bacteria provides important leads to manipulate the intestinal microbiota for improving production efficiency,profitability,and sustainability of poultry production.Jing Liu Sydney N.Stewart Kelsy Robinson Qing Yang Wentao Lyu Melanie A.Whitmore Guolong Zhang 2021Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,3:2
12Interaction of monopalmitate and carnauba wax on the properties and crystallization behavior of soybean oleogel显示文摘The aim of this work was to investigate the possible synergistic interaction between monopalmitate(MP)and carnauba wax(CW)on the properties and crystallization behavior of oleogels.The soybean oleogels were prepared from MP and CW,and were characterized by oil binding capacity(OBC),solid fat content(SFC)and isothermal crystallization.The results showed that the OBC of the prepared oleogels changed in a W-shape trend with the increase of CW content.The mass ratio of MP and CW greatly affected the SFC.At 40,50 and 60°C,the SFC of these oleogels showed a slight deep eutectic effect with the increase of CW content in the gelators.The mass ratio of MP to CW also apparently affected the peak temperature and enthalpy during the crystallization and melting process analyzed by differential scanning calorimeter.The hysteresis occurring in the study indicated that crystallization temperature was lower than melting temperature and crystallization enthalpy was higher than melting enthalpy.The isothermal crystallization of these oleogels was characterized by Avrami equation,the Avrami exponent(n)and the apparent crystallization constant(k)of these oleogels were affected by the mass ratio of MP to CW as well as the crystallization temperature.Great difference in the values of n and k between the MP(or CW)oleogel and these oleogels suggested that the crystal growth mechanism had changed.However,the factor k for the oleogel formed of MP and CW with a mass ratio of 2:8 was about 1,unaffected by the crystallization temperature.From these results,we could deduce that the synergistic interaction between MP and CW did happen and affect the properties and crystallization behavior of these oleogels.Shuaishuai Yang Guolong Yang Xiaowei Chen Jingnan Chen Wei Liu 2020Grain & Oil Science and Technology2020,3,2:2

16Multiferroic and magnetoelectric properties of La_(0.1)Ba_(0.9)Fe_(12)O_(19) ceramics显示文摘La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19 powders with similar hexagonal crystal structure to Ba Fe12O19 have been successfully synthesized using polymer precursor method. The powders were suppressed into pellets, which were sintered into ceramics at 1,300 °C for 1 h. The structure and morphology of the ceramics have been determined by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). Clear electric hysteresis loops upon different amplitude of external fields indicates that La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19 is a kind of possible ferroelectric compound. The maximum remnant polarization of La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19 ceramic is estimated to be *9.6 l C/cm2. The Fe O6 octahedron in its perovskite-like hexagonal unit cell as well as the shift of Fe3?off the center of octahedron are proposed to be the origin of electric polarization in La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19. Simultaneous occurrence of large ferroelectricity and strong ferromagnetism has been observed in La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19 ceramics. More interestingly, this compound demonstrates electronic polarization behavior being actuated by an applied magnetic field, indicating the existence of magnetoelectric(ME) coupling effect in the La0.1Ba0.9Fe12O19 ceramics. 173D-Printed Bio-inspired Multi-channel Cathodes for Zinc–air Battery Applications显示文摘It is of great significance to enhance mass transfer and improve active surface area in cathodes for zinc–air batteries(ZABs),which promote oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)efficiency and power outputs.Nature has endowed some tissues with special structures to have efficient mass transfer properties and high active surface area.As an important mass transfer part of trees,xylem contains massive long and partially aligned channels,which provides numerous“passageway”and high active surface area for plants to facilitate the efficient transport of oxygen and inorganic salts.The multi-channel structures give an important insight to develop high efficient air cathode.Herein,3D-printed bio-inspired multi-channel cathodes(BMCs),inspired by xylem structures,have been developed for high-performance ZABs via 3D printing.Channels of bionic cathode contribute to forming a continuous supply of oxygen from air.As a result,massive tri-phase boundary regions,where ORR happens,are formed inside of cathode.Moreover,the 3D-printed metal-based framework can facilitate electron transfer during ORR process.Benefiting from the multi-channel framework,the assembled ZABs with BMC-600 show excellent electrochemical performances in terms of the high power density of 170.1 mW cm^(−2) and a high open-circuit voltage of 1.51 V.Therefore,BMCs provide a potential alternative as promising cathode for metal-air batteries.Xin Men Zhiyuan Li Wei Yang Mi Wang Song Liang Hang Sun Zhenning Liu Guolong Lu 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,4:1

19Super Resolution Perception for Improving Data Completeness in Smart Grid State Estimation显示文摘The smart grid is an evolving critical infrastructure,which combines renewable energy and the most advanced information and communication technologies to provide more economic and secure power supply services.To cope with the intermittency of ever-increasing renewable energy and ensure the security of the smart grid,state estimation,which serves as a basic tool for understanding the true states of a smart grid,should be performed with high frequency.More complete system state data are needed to support high-frequency state estimation.The data completeness problem for smart grid state estimation is therefore studied in this paper.The problem of improving data completeness by recovering highfrequency data from low-frequency data is formulated as a super resolution perception(SRP)problem in this paper.A novel machine-learning-based SRP approach is thereafter proposed.The proposed method,namely the Super Resolution Perception Net for State Estimation(SRPNSE),consists of three steps:feature extraction,information completion,and data reconstruction.Case studies have demonstrated the effectiveness and value of the proposed SRPNSE approach in recovering high-frequency data from low-frequency data for the state estimation.Gaoqi Liang Guolong Liu Junhua Zhao Yanli Liu Jinjin Gu Guangzhong Sun Zhaoyang Dong 2020Engineering2020,6,7:1
