1Performance of RegCM4 over Major River Basins in China显示文摘A long-term simulation for the period 1990–2010 is conducted with the latest version of the International Centre for Theoretical Physics' Regional Climate Model(RegCM4), driven by ERA-Interim boundary conditions at a grid spacing of 25 km. The Community Land Model(CLM) is used to describe land surface processes, with updates in the surface parameters,including the land cover and surface emissivity. The simulation is compared against observations to evaluate the model performance in reproducing the present day climatology and interannual variability over the 10 main river basins in China,with focus on surface air temperature and precipitation. Temperature and precipitation from the ERA-Interim reanalysis are also considered in the model assessment. Results show that the model reproduces the present day climatology over China and its main river basins, with better performances in June–July–August compared to December–January–February(DJF).In DJF, we find a warm bias at high latitudes, underestimated precipitation in the south, and overestimated precipitation in the north. The model in general captures the observed interannual variability, with greater skill for temperature. We also find an underestimation of heavy precipitation events in eastern China, and an underestimation of consecutive dry days in northern China and the Tibetan Plateau. 4Strata behavior in extra-thick coal seam mining with upward slicing backfilling technology显示文摘Based on the character of upward slicing backfilling mining and the condition of Gonggeyingzi coal mine in Inner Mongolia,this paper describes the studies of the strata behavior and the stress distribution in the process of backfilling mining in extra-thick coal seams.This was achieved by setting up and analyzing the elastic foundation beam model using the ABAQUS software.The results show that:(1) With the gradual mining of different slices,the roof appears to bend continuously but does not break.The vertical stress in the roof decreases and the decreasing amplitude reduces,while the tensile stress in the roof grows with the mining slices and the maximum tensile stress will not exceed the allowable tensile stress.(2) The front vertical stress at the working face exceeds the rear vertical stress and both show a trend of decrease with decreasing amplitude of decrease.(3) The slices mined early have more influence on the surrounding rock than the later ones.Similarly,the strata behavior experiences the same trend.The field measured data show that the roof does not break during the mining process,which is consistent with the conclusion.Deng Xuejie Zhang Jixiong Kang Tao Han Xiaole 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,4:1

7Pathogenesis and preventive measures of environment-related cardiovascular disease in northern China显示文摘Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)have been the top-ranked cause of human death in the world for years,according to the World Health Organization.Accumulating evidence from epidemiological data supports the view that the risk of CVDs is higher in northern China than in southern area.There is no doubt that living environment has become a crucial factor contributing to the occurrence and progression of CVDs in northern region.However,there have not been any clinical guidelines for the prevention strategy of environment-related CVDs,especially for cold exposure.Thus,there is an urgent need for better understanding of the clinical characteristics and underlying mechanisms of cold-induced CVDs in order to formulate and implement proper and effective measures for minimizing the risk of CVDs for people residing in low-temperature area.Cold exposure,air pollution,lack of sunlight and irrational diet are believed to be crucial factors responsible for environment-related CVDs,and preventive measures might be carried out accordingly to decrease the high risk of CVDs in northern China.Yukai Cao Xuejie Han Xinbo Zhao Jiuxu Kan Yue Yuan Yue Li 2022Frigid Zone Medicine2022,2,3:0
8CRISPR-powered optothermal nanotweezers:Diverse bio-nanoparticle manipulation and single nucleotide identification显示文摘Optothermal nanotweezers have emerged as an innovative optical manipulation technique in the past decade,which revolutionized classical optical manipulation by efficiently capturing a broader range of nanoparticles.However,the optothermal temperature field was merely employed for in-situ manipulation of nanoparticles,its potential for identifying bio-nanoparticles remains largely untapped.Hence,based on the synergistic effect of optothermal manipulation and CRIPSR-based bio-detection,we developed CRISPR-powered optothermal nanotweezers(CRONT).Specifically,by harnessing diffusiophoresis and thermo-osmotic flows near the substrate upon optothermal excitation,we successfully trapped and enriched DNA functionalized gold nanoparticles,CRISPR-associated proteins,as well as DNA strands.Remarkably,we built an optothermal scheme for enhancing CRISPR-based single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)detection at single molecule level,while also introducing a novel CRISPR methodology for observing nucleotide cleavage.Therefore,this innovative approach has endowed optical tweezers with DNA identification ability in aqueous solution which was unattainable before.With its high specificity and feasibility for in-situ bio-nanoparticle manipulation and identification,CRONT will become a universal tool in point-of-care diagnosis,biophotonics,and bio-nanotechnology.Jiajie Chen Zhi Chen Changle Meng Jianxing Zhou Yuhang Peng Xiaoqi Dai Jingfeng Li Yili Zhong Xiaolin Chen Wu Yuan Ho-Pui Ho Bruce Zhi Gao Junle Qu Xueji Zhang Han Zhang Yonghong Shao 2023Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,12:0

10SD-RLK28 positively regulates pollen hydration on stigmas as a PCP-Bβ receptor in Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Pollen hydration on dry stigmas is strictly regulated by pollen–stigma interactions in Brassicaceae. Although several related molecular events have been described, the molecular mechanism underlying pollen hydration remains elusive. Multiple B-class pollen coat proteins(PCP-Bs) are involved in pollen hydration. Here, by analyzing the interactions of two PCP-Bs with three Arabidopsis thaliana stigmas strongly expressing S-domain receptor kinase(SD-RLK), we determined that SD-RLK28 directly interacts with PCP-Bβ. We investigated pollen hydration, pollen germination, pollen tube growth, and stigma receptivity in the sd-rlk28 and pcp-bβ mutants. PCP-Bβ acts in the pollen to regulate pollen hydration on stigmas. Loss of SD-RLK28 had no effect on pollen viability, and sd-rlk28 plants had normal life cycles without obvious defects. However,pollen hydration on sd-rlk28 stigmas was impaired and pollen tube growth in sd-rlk28 pistils was delayed. The defect in pollen hydration on sd-rlk28 stigmas was independent of changes in reactive oxygen species levels in stigmas.
