1Acupuncture's Role in Solving the Opioid Epidemic: Evidence, Cost-Effectiveness, and Care Availability for Acupuncture as a Primary, Non-Pharmacologic Method for Pain Relief and Management-White Paper 2017显示文摘The United States(U.S.) is facing a national opioid epidemic, and medical systems are in need of nonpharmacologic strategies that can be employed to decrease the public's opioid dependence. Acupuncture has emerged as a powerful, evidence-based, safe, cost-effective, and available treatment modality suitable to meeting this need. Acupuncture has been shown to be effective for the management of numerous types of pain conditions, and mechanisms of action for acupuncture have been described and are understandable from biomedical, physiologic perspectives. Further, acupuncture's cost-effectiveness can dramatically decrease health care expenditures, both from the standpoint of treating acute pain and through avoiding addiction to opioids that requires costly care, destroys quality of life, and can lead to fatal overdose. Numerous federal regulatory agencies have advised or mandated that healthcare systems and providers offer non-pharmacologic treatment options for pain. Acupuncture stands out as the most evidence-based, immediately available choice to fulfil these calls. Acupuncture can safely, easily, and cost-effectively be incorporated into hospital settings as diverse as the emergency department, labor and delivery suites, andneonatal intensive care units to treat a variety of commonly seen pain conditions. 2Effect of Mixing on Properties and Microstructure of Magnesium Oxychloride Cement显示文摘This paper investigated the effect of mixing on the properties of magnesium oxychloride cement, such as apparent viscosity, setting time, compressive strength, and specific strength as well. The phase composition and crystallographic structure of the cement were determined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The results indicate that the increases of stirring rate and mixing time change apparent viscosity distinctly, shorten setting time and enhance mechanical property. Magnesium oxychloride cement after mixing for 20 min exhibits the optimal mechanical performance. The effect of stirring rate on the phase composition of magnesium oxychloride cement dominates over the effect of mixing time. The increases of stirring rate and mixing time can increase the dispersion state and accelerate the neutralization, thus promoting the strength of magnesium oxychloride cement due to the formation of stable 5·1·8 phase, needle-like crystals and continuous crystalline structure in the whole cement matrix. 3First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. 13Therapeutic effect of Qinghuayin(清化饮)against chronic atrophic gastritis through the inhibition of toll or interleukin-1 receptor domain-containing adaptor inducing interferon-β signaling pathway显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To examine the efficacy of Qinghuayin(清化饮,QHY)in rat chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG)models and explored the molecular mechanism of QHY in treating CAG.METHODS:In total,65 Wistar rats were randomly divided into the control(n=10)and CAG groups(n=55).CAG model rats were further divided into five groups:model(n=10),vitacoenzyme(n=10),low-dose QHY(n=10),medium-dose QHY(n=10),and high-dose QHY groups(n=10).We analyzed histopathological changes using hematoxylin and eosin staining and measured interleukin(IL)-6 and IL-8 levels in serum using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)(Boster Bio,Pleasanton,USA).In addition,gastrin(GAS),pepsinogen I(PGI),and PGII expressions were evaluated using ELISA.The protein and m RNA expression of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)and toll or interleukin-1 receptor domaincontaining adaptor inducing interferon-β(TRIF)was detected by Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,respectively.RESULTS:Our results revealed that histopathological changes in CAG model rates could be restored by low-,medium-,and high-dose QHY.The changes in GAS and PGI/II expression demonstrated that QHY improved CAG.Serum IL-6 and IL-levels were decreased by QHY administration.TLR4 and TRIF were upregulated at the m RNA and protein levels in the model group but downregulated by QHY administration.CONCLUSION:We concluded that QHY could effectively improve the histopathological changes of the gastric mucosa induced by CAG in rats.The therapeutic mechanism of QHY may be related to inhibition of the inflammatory factors IL-6 and IL-8 and suppression of TLR4/TRIF m RNA and protein expression.HE Youcheng YAO Xiaoling LI Sihan ZHOU Hongjian XU Ruoying ZHENG Rong XIAO Wendi SU Ning LIN Ping HUANG Minghan 2022Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,2:1
14Dynamic functional connectivity analysis of Taichong (LR3) acupuncture effects in various brain regions显示文摘The present study conducted a multi-scale dynamic functional connectivity analysis to evaluate dynamic behavior of acupuncture at Taichong (LR3) and sham acupoints surrounding Taichong. Results showed differences in wavelet transform coherence characteristic curves in the declive, precuneus, postcentral gyrus, supramarginal gyrus, and occipital lobe between acupuncture at Taichong and acupuncture at sham acupoints. 15DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATIC WEIGHING PLATFORM FOR MONITORING BODYWEIGHT OF BROILER CHICKENS IN COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION显示文摘Bodyweight is a key indicator of broiler production as it measures the production efficiency and indicates the health of a flock.Currently,broiler weight(i.e.,bodyweight)is primarily weighed manually,which is timeconsuming and labor-intensive,and tends to create stress in birds.This study aimed to develop an automatic and stress-free weighing platform for monitoring the weight of floor-reared broiler chickens in commercial production.The developed system consists of a weighing platform,a real-time communication terminal,computer software and a smart phone applet userinterface.The system collected weight data of chickens on the weighing platform at intervals of 6 s,followed by filtering of outliers and repeating readings.The performance and stability of this system was systematically evaluated under commercial production conditions.With the adoption of data preprocessing protocol,the average error of the new automatic weighing system was only 10.3 g,with an average accuracy 99.5%with the standard deviation of 2.3%.Further regression analysis showed a strong agreement between estimated weight and the standard weight obtained by the established live-bird sales system.The variance(an indicator of flock uniformity)of broiler weight estimated using automatic weighing platforms was in accordance with the standard weight.The weighing system demonstrated superior stability for different growth stages,rearing seasons,growth rate types(medium-and slow-growing chickens)and sexes.The system is applicable for daily weight monitoring in floor-reared broiler houses to improve feeding management,growth monitoring and finishing day prediction.Its application in commercial farms would improve the sustainability of poultry industry.Danni ZHOU Yi ZHOU Pengguang HE Lin YU Jinming PAN Lilong CHAI Hongjian LIN 2023Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2023,10,3:0
16FPGA-based Digital Implementation of Flexible Power Control for Three-phase to Single-phase MMC-based Advanced Co-phase Traction Power Supply System显示文摘A three-phase to single-phase modular multilevel converter based advanced co-phase traction power supply(MMC-ACTPS) system is an effective structure to address the concerns of phase splitting and poor power quality of the conventional electrified railway. Due to the large number of MMCACTPS system modules, I/O resources and computing speed have high requirements on processors. Moreover, the module capacitor balance is challenging because the sorting time is too long when the traditional sorting algorithm for voltage balance is used. To solve the above issues, a digital implementation scheme of flexible power control strategy for three-phase to single-phase MMC-ACTPS system based on field programmable gate array(FPGA), which has sufficient I/O resources, has been proposed. Due to the parallel execution characteristics of the FPGA, the execution time of the controller and the modulator can be greatly reduced compared with a digital signal processor(DSP) + FPGA or DSpace. In addition, an improved sorting algorithm is proposed to reduce the sorting time and the implementation steps are analyzed. 17Li-Mg-Si bioceramics provide a dynamic immuno-modulatory and repair-supportive microenvironment for peripheral nerve regeneration显示文摘Biomaterials can modulate the local immune and repair-supportive microenvironments to promote peripheral nerve regeneration. Inorganic bioceramics have been widely used for regulating tissue regeneration and local immune response. However, little is known on whether inorganic bioceramics can have potential for enhancing peripheral nerve regeneration and what are the mechanisms underlying their actions. Here, the inorganic lithium-magnesium-silicon (Li-Mg-Si, LMS) bioceramics containing scaffolds are fabricated and characterized. The LMS-containing scaffolds had no cytotoxicity against rat Schwann cells (SCs), but promoted their migration and differentiation towards a remyelination state by up-regulating the expression of neurotrophic factors in a β-catenin-dependent manner. Furthermore, using single cell-sequencing, we showed that LMS-containing scaffolds promoted macrophage polarization towards the pro-regenerative M2-like cells, which subsequently facilitated the migration and differentiation of SCs. Moreover, implantation with the LMS-containing nerve guidance conduits (NGCs) increased the frequency of M2-like macrophage infiltration and enhanced nerve regeneration and motor functional recovery in a rat model of sciatic nerve injury. 18Effects of Seed Soaking with Paclobutrazol on Early Tillering and Endogenous Hormone Contents of Sugarcane Seedlings显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to explore the effect of seed soaking with paclobutrazol( PP333) on early tillering and endogenous hormone content of sugarcane seedlings.[Method] With the sugarcane variety ROC22 as the experimental material,seeds were soaked in different concentrations of PP333. The number and growth of tiller were investigated,and the contents of endogenous hormones IAA,CTK,ABA and GA3 at two-leaf,four-leaf and six-leaf stages of sugarcane seedlings were measured,to study the effects of seed soaking with PP333 on early tillering and endogenous hormone contents of sugarcane seedlings.[Result] Seed soaking with PP333 could effectively improve and advance tillering occurrence of sugarcane seedlings. The suitable PP333 concentration for sugarcane tillering occurrence,growth and development was 50 mg/L. Seed soaking with PP333 significantly increased the CTK and ABA contents in leaves of sugarcane seedlings,and decreased IAA and GA3 contents.
