1Investigation on mechanism of phosphate removal on carbonized sludge adsorbent显示文摘For the removal of phosphate(PO_4^(3-)) from water, an adsorbent was prepared via carbonization of sewage sludge from a wastewater treatment plant: carbonized sludge adsorbent(CSA). The mechanism of phosphate removal was determined after studying the structure and chemical properties of the CSA and its influence on phosphate removal. The results demonstrate that phosphate adsorption by the CSA can be fitted with the pseudo second-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherm models, indicating that the adsorption is single molecular layer adsorption dominated by chemical reaction. The active sites binding phosphate on the surface are composed of mineral particles containing Si/Ca/Al/Fe. The mineral containing Ca, calcite, is the main factor responsible for phosphate removal. The phosphate removal mechanism is a complex process including crystallization via the interaction between Ca^(2+) and PO_4^(3-); formation of precipitates of Ca^(2+), Al^(3+), and PO_4^(3-); and adsorption of PO_4^(3-)on some recalcitrant oxides composed of Si/Al/Fe.Lei Zhang Junxin Liu Xuesong Guo 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,2:7
2A study on JA-and BTH-induced resistance of Rosa rugosa‘Plena’to powdery mildew(Sphaerotheca pannosa)显示文摘Different concentrations of jasmonic acid(JA)and benzothiadiazole(BTH) were sprayed on 2-year-old Rosa rugosa‘Plena’ seedlings. The induced resistance of JA and BTH to Sphaerotheca pannosa(Wallr.) and the changes of their related physiological indices were investigated. Results showed that JA and BTH treatments had inhibitory impacts on S. pannosa infection. The optimal concentration of JA and BTH was 0.5 mmol/L for the disease-resistance induction of the leaves, its inductive effect was up to 66.36% for BTH and 54.49% for JA. Our results confirmed that exogenous JA and BTH significantly improved R. rugose ‘Plena’ resistance to S. pannosa. When treated with JA and BTH, activities of the three defense enzymes(POD, PPO, and PAL) increased significantly.Contents of total phenolics, flavonoids, and lignin also increased significantly. 3Continuous desulfurization and bacterial community structure of an integrated bioreactor developed to treat SO_2 from a gas stream显示文摘Sulfide dioxide(SO2) is often released during the combustion processes of fossil fuels. An integrated bioreactor with two sections, namely, a suspended zone(SZ) and immobilized zone(IZ), was applied to treat SO2 for 6 months. Sampling ports were set in both sections to investigate the performance and microbial characteristics of the integrated bioreactor. SO2 was effectively removed by the synergistic effect of the SZ and IZ, and more than 85%removal efficiency was achieved at steady state. The average elimination capacity of SO2 in the bioreactor was 2.80 g/(m3·hr) for the SZ and 1.50 g/(m3· hr) for the IZ. Most SO2 was eliminated in the SZ. The liquid level of the SZ and the water content ratio of the packing material in the IZ affected SO2 removal efficiency. The SZ served a key function not only in SO2 elimination, but also in moisture maintenance for the IZ. The desired water content in IZ could be feasibly maintained without any additional pre-humidification facilities. Clone libraries of 16 S r DNA directly amplified from the DNA of each sample were constructed and sequenced to analyze the community composition and diversity in the individual zones.The desulfurization bacteria dominated both zones. Paenibacillus sp. was present in both zones, whereas Ralstonia sp. existed only in the SZ. 4Temporal variation of microbial population in a thermophilic biofilter for SO_2 removal显示文摘The performance of a biofilter relies on the activity of microorganisms during the gas contaminant treatment process. In this study, SO_2 was treated using a laboratory-scale biofilter packed with polyurethane foam cubes(PUFC), on which thermophilic desulfurization bacteria were attached. The thermophilic biofilter effectively reduced SO_2 within 10 months of operation time, with a maximum elimination capacity of 48.29 g/m^3/hr.Temporal shifts in the microbial population in the thermophilic biofilter were determined through polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA) sequence analysis. The substrate species and environmental conditions in the biofilter influenced the microbial population. Oxygen distribution in the PUFC was analyzed using a microelectrode. When the water-containing rate in PUFC was over 98%, the oxygen distribution presented aerobic–anoxic–aerobic states along the test route on the PUFC. 5Effects of oxygen and water content on microbial distribution in the polyurethane foam cubes of a biofilter for SO_2 removal显示文摘The performance of a biofilter for off-gas treatment relies on the activity of microorganisms and adequate O_2 and H_2O. In present study, a microelectrode was applied to analyze O_2 in polyurethane foam cubes(PUFCs) packed in a biofilter for SO_2 removal. The O_2 distribution varied with the density and water-containing rate(WCR) of PUFCs. The O_2 concentration dropped sharply from 10.2 to 0.8 mg/L from the surface to the center of a PUFC with 97.20%of WCR. The PUFCs with high WCR presented aerobic–anoxic–aerobic areas.Three-dimensional simulated images demonstrated that the structure of PUFCs with high WCR consisted of an aerobic 'shell' and an anoxic 'core', with high-density PUFCs featuring a larger anoxic area than low-density PUFCs. Moreover, the H_2O distribution in the PUFC was uneven and affected the O_2 concentration. Whereas aerobic bacteria were observed in the PUFC surface, facultative anaerobic microorganisms were found at the PUFC core, where the O_2 concentration was relatively low. 7Single cell analysis reveals inhibition of angiogenesis attenuates the progression of heterotopic ossification in Mkx^(−/−)mice显示文摘Tendon heterotopic ossification(HO)is characterized by bone formation inside tendon tissue,which severely debilitates people in their daily life.Current therapies fail to promote functional tissue repair largely due to our limited understanding of HO pathogenesis.Here,we investigate the pathological mechanism and propose a potential treatment method for HO.Immunofluorescence assays showed that the Mohawk(MKX)expression level was decreased in human tendon HO tissue,coinciding with spontaneous HO and the upregulated expression of osteochondrogenic and angiogenic genes in the tendons of Mkx^(−/−)mice.Single-cell RNA sequencing analyses of wild-type and Mkx^(−/−)tendons identified three cell types and revealed the excessive activation of osteochondrogenic genes during the tenogenesis of Mkx^(−/−)tendon cells.Single-cell analysis revealed that the gene expression program of angiogenesis,which is strongly associated with bone formation,was activated in all cell types during HO.Moreover,inhibition of angiogenesis by the small-molecule inhibitor BIBF1120 attenuated bone formation and angiogenesis in the Achilles tendons of both Mkx mutant mice and a rat traumatic model of HO.These findings provide new insights into the cellular mechanisms of tendon HO and highlight the inhibition of angiogenesis with BIBF1120 as a potential treatment strategy for HO.Junxin Lin Yuwei Yang Wenyan Zhou Chao Dai Xiao Chen Yuanhao Xie Shan Han Huanhuan Liu Yejun Hu Chenqi Tang Varitsara Bunpetch Dandan Zhang Yishan Chen Xiaohui Zou Di Chen Wanlu Liu Hongwei Ouyang 2022Bone Research2022,10,4:1

10Effect of jasmonate treatments on leaves of Rosa rugosa‘Plena’and detoxification enzymes and feeding of adult Monolepta hieroglyphica显示文摘To study the effect of jasmonates(JAs)on the resistance of economic forest plants to insects,R osa rugosa‘Plena'leaves were treated with 1 mmol/L jasmonic acid(JA),methyl jasmonate(MeJA)and Z-jasmone,then the content of tannin and total phenol in leaves and the feeding area of Monolepta hieroglyphica adults on leaves were measured.Changes in the activities of detoxification enzymes in adult M.hieroglyphica that had fed on leaves treated with JAs were also studied.Tannin and total phenol levels in leaves increased significantly after treatment with JAs,and tannin level was 1.36–1.55-fold higher than in the control after treatment with 1 mmol/L MeJA.The total content of phenol in leaves treated with 1.0 mmol/L Z-jasmone increased by 1.33–2.20-fold compared with those of the control.The activities of detoxification enzymes in adults were inhibited to differing degrees:activity of alkaline phosphatase(AKP)first increased,then decreased;the activities of acid phosphatase(ACP),glutathione S-transferases(GSTs)and carboxylesterase(CarE)following treatment with 1 mmol/L MeJA were significantly reduced and were 22%–31%,11%–26%,and 11%–31%lower than those of the control,respectively.Moreover,the feeding area of adult M.hieroglyphica on the leaves treated with JAs was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The feeding area of economic forest R.rugosa‘Plena'leaves treated with 1 mmol/L MeJA decreased by 17%–43%compared with that of the control.Moreover,the decrease in the adult M.hieroglyphica feeding area was highly positively correlated with the content of tannin and positively correlated with the contents of total phenol of economic forest R.rugosa‘Plena'leaves.The reduced feeding area of adult M.hieroglyphica was highly negatively correlated with the activities of AKP and ACP and negatively correlated with those of the GSTs.In conclusion,the use of 1 mmol/L MeJA can noticeably decrease the deleterious effects of adult M.hieroglyphica.Junxin Yan Yi Tan Yaru Lv Fei Wang Yongqiang Zhang Defu Chi 2021Journal of Forestry Research2021,32,3:1

14Study of Treating HAPE with HBO in Situ at the Altitude of 4636m显示文摘Study Objective: To evaluate the treatment effect of HAPE with HBO in situ at an extreme altitude of 4636 m. To investigate the relationship between pulmonary hypertension (PH) and HAPE. To emphasize the importance of the treatment in situ.Methods: The 32 patients from the plateau of 4636~5130 m (the barometric pressure: 57.41~53.28 kPa/431.6~400.6 mmHg(1 mmHg=133.3224 Pa), the partial pressure of oxygen: 12.0~11.6 kPa/90.0~87.0 mmHg) were treated in situ of 4636 m altitude with HBO. Before and after the treatment, the clinical symptoms / signs, radiographic evidence, SaO2, and MPAP were compared.Results: The clinical symptoms/signs, and all the targets of the patients were improved dramatically (p<0.001).Conclusions: Treating HAPE with HBO is the most effective method among various therapies in situ at an extreme altitude. The pulmonary -artery pressure was significantly decreased. All cases showed improved immediately. Among the subjects, 11 cases (34.3%) were cured at once. The therapy made it possible for patients to get further treatment at a lower altitude area with prospective good results. We suggested that treating HAPE with HBO should be the first choice in situ. There must be PH in the patients of HAPE, but the reverse is not the true. The PH is a mechanism of normal compensation of the body exposing in the hypoxic environment. 17Necroptosis-elicited host immunity:GOx-loaded MoS_(2) nanocatalysts for self-amplified chemodynamic immunotherapy显示文摘Nanoparticles induced potent antitumor immunotherapy plays a significant role for enhancing conventional therapeutic effectiveness.However,revealing the pathway of how nanoagents themselves trigger the host immunity or how to maximize the immunotherapy efficacy still needs further exploration.Herein,rose-like MoS2 nanoflowers modified with 2-deoxy-D-glucose(2-DG)and glucose oxidase(GOx)(MPGGFs)have been successfully fabricated via a one-pot hydrothermal reaction and following one-by-one surface modification as a multifunctional nanocatalyst for photothermal therapy enhanced self-amplified chemodynamic immunotherapy(PTT-co-CDT).By introducing GOx,the obtained MPGGFs exhibited self-amplified chemodynamic therapeutic efficacy under hypoxia tumor microenvironment(TME)because of the raised intracellular H2O2 level via enzyme-catalysis of oxygen.Furthermore,combined with the intrinsic excellent photothermal conversion efficiency of MoS2 nanoflowers,PTT-co-CDT performances by MPGGFs could effectively induce the necroptosis of tumor cells both in vitro and in vivo.Then the induced necroptosis via PTT-co-CDT by MPGGFs could directly trigger host immunity by activating the antigen-specific T-cells(CD4^(+) and CD8^(+)).Finally,the excellent in vivo safety of MPGGFs makes us believe that the successful construction of rose-like multifunctional nanocatalyst not only has great potentials for self-amplified chemodynamic immunotherapy,but also provides a paradigm for exploring necroptosis triggered host immunity for cancer treatment.Wensheng Xie Jingsong Lu Zhenhu Guo Xiaoxiao Guo Yongjiu Chi Jieling Ye Junxin Zhang Wanling Xu Lingyun Zhao Yen Wei 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
18Responses of Drought-Resistant Mutant vem1 to Stress and Cloning of VEM1 Gene in Arabidopsis显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to investigate the responses of drought-resistant mutant vem1 to stress and clone VEM1 gene in Arabidopsis. [Method] A drought-resistant mutant vem1 was isolated from the Arabidopsis mutant pool. The germination rates of wild-type( WT) and mutant vem1 were detected to investigate the responses of mutant vem1 to mannitol,NaCl and ABA stress. [Result] The mutant vem1 was resistant to mannitol and NaCl stress but sensitive to ABA stress. VEM1 gene was cloned by Tail-PCR technology and sequenced. The sequencing result was submitted to NCBI for sequence alignment and gene mapping using BLAST. Database analysis suggested that VEM1 gene was a transposable element gene. 19CO_(2)-elevated cell-free protein synthesis显示文摘Gases are the vital nutrition of all organisms as the precursor of metabolism pathways.As a potential biological process,protein synthesis is inevitably regulated by gas transport and utilization.However,the effect of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))present in many metabolic pathways on protein synthesis has not been studied well.In this work,carbon dioxide combined with oxygen was employed for cell-free protein synthesis(CFPS)in the tube-in-tube reactor with precise control of gas concentration.In this in vitro system,gases could directly affect the protein synthesis process without transmembrane transport.Varied concentrations of carbon dioxide(0-1%)and constant oxygen concentration(21%)were employed for CFPS to assess the effects.The cell-free reactions with 0.3%CO_(2) and 21%O_(2) showed the highest protein yields.The combined effect of CO_(2) and O_(2) also resulted in relatively high protein expression under high oxygen conditions(0.3%CO_(2) and 100%O_(2)).Moreover,metabolomics assays were performed to gain insight into metabolic changes,which showed that CO_(2) slightly improved energy metabolism and redox balance.In particular,the extra supplied CO_(2) activated the decarboxylating reactions and removed toxic metabolites to recover the protein synthesis activity.The exploration of CO_(2) on protein synthesis could provide guiding implications for basic studies and biomanufacturing.Xiaomei Lin Caijin Zhou Ting Wang Xiaoting Huang Junxin Chen Zhixia Li Jisong Zhang Yuan Lu 2022Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2022,7,3:0
20Evaluation of trap effi ciency for the Asian longhorned beetle,Anoplophora glabripennis显示文摘The Asian longhorned beetle(ALB),Anoplophora glabripennis,is a well-known stem borer with high polyphagous properties causing frequent outbreaks in northeast China.An attractant-based trap is needed to improve the sensitivity,reliability,and effi ciency for detection of the beetle.In this study,the eff ects of attractants,trap types and color synergy of a trapping system were evaluated.Attractant blends comprised of the male-produced,two-component pheromone plus plant volatiles were used in the fi eld in Hengshui city.Plant volatiles(e.g.,1-pentanol,and 2-pentanol)in combination with male pheromones increased the mean number of trapped ALB compared to the pheromone alone.Males responded better than females to traps baited with plant volatiles alone,whereas traps emitting plant volatiles plus pheromone,regardless of trap type,captured more females than males.The ALB-trapping effi ciency of a modifi ed fl ight intercept panel trap was more than ten times as high as a woodborer panel trap and 1.2 times a fl ight intercept panel trap.The 1-pentanol and 2-pentanol attractants alone or in combination with male-produced pheromone were more eff ective for monitoring ALB than common lures.In laboratory Y-tube olfactometer experiments,the color brown was better at increasing attraction of both males and females to 1-pentanol,2-pentanol,1-pentanol+pheromone,and 2-pentanol+pheromone compared to the clear-glass control arm.The fi ndings provide a reliable and eff ective trap system to monitor ALB infestations.Junxin Yan Yantao Zhou Dun Jiang Yaru Lü Yingsheng Liu Mengmeng Yu Aijun Zhang Shanchun Yan 2023Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,4:0
