1Role of secondary aerosols in haze formation in summer in the Megacity Beijing显示文摘A field experiment from 18 August to 8 September 2006 in Beijing, China, was carried out. A hazy day was defined as visibility < 10 km and RH(relative humidity) < 90%. Four haze episodes, which accounted for ~ 60% of the time during the whole campaign, were characterized by increases of SNA(sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium) and SOA(secondary organic aerosol) concentrations. The average values with standard deviation of SO2-+4, NO-3, NH4 and SOA were 49.8(± 31.6), 31.4(±22.3), 25.8(±16.6) and 8.9(±4.1) μg/m3, respectively, during the haze episodes, which were 4.3, 3.4, 4.1, and 1.7 times those in the non-haze days. The SO2-4,NO-3, NH+4, and SOA accounted for 15.8%, 8.8%, 7.3%, and 6.0% of the total mass concentration of PM10 during the non-haze days. The respective contributions of SNA species to PM10 rose to about27.2%, 15.9%, and 13.9% during the haze days, while the contributions of SOA maintained the same level with a slight decrease to about 4.9%. The observed mass concentrations of SNA and SOA increased with the increase of PM10 mass concentration, however, the rate of increase of SNA was much faster than that of the SOA. The SOR(sulfur oxidation ratio) and NOR(nitrogen oxidation ratio) increased from non-haze days to hazy days, and increased with the increase of RH. 3Geodynamic Background of Intracontinental Cenozoic Alkaline Volcanic Rocks in Laojiezi, Western Yangtze Craton: Constraints from Sr-Nd-Hf-O Isotopes显示文摘The Laojiezi alkaline volcanic rocks, which are located in the intraplate region of the Yangtze craton, coincide with the formation of the Jinshajiang-Ailaoshan-Red River alkaline rock belt. Although this belt has been widely studied by geologists because of its porphyry-related Pb-Ag-Au polymetallic deposit and geotectonic location, the material sources of this belt are still debate. Whole-rock analyses show that these rocks have high total alkali contents(3.73–11.08 wt%), and their aluminum saturation index(ASI) values widely vary from 0.82 to 3.07, which comprise a metaluminous-peraluminous magma series. These rocks are characterized by high K(K2 O/Na2 O>1) and low Ti and Mg contents; enrichment in large-ion lithophile elements, such as Rb, Ba, K and light rare earth elements; and depletion in high field strength elements, such as Ta, Nb, P, and Ti. These rocks exhibit moderate Eu(Eu/Eu*=0.86–1.04) and Ce(Ce/Ce*=0.63–0.96) anomalies. Their(87 Sr/86 Sr)i, εNd(t), zircon εHf(t) and δ18 O values range from 0.70839 to 0.71013, from-10.16 to-12.45, from-19.6 to-5.8, and from 5.69‰ to 8.54‰, respectively, and their Nd and Hf two-stage model ages(TDM2) are 1.67–1.86 Ga and 1.27–2.02 Ga, respectively. These data reflect the primary partial melting of Paleoproterozoic to Mesoproterozoic lower crust with minor residual continental lithospheric mantle and supracrustal metasediments. The lithosphere was likely thickened along the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau following the Indian-Asian continentcontinent collision(65–41 Ma). During the post-collision phase(36–16 Ma), the transition from a compressional to extensional setting triggered the convective removal of the over-thickened CLM beneath the Yangtze craton, which led to the upwelling of asthenospheric materials. This process created alkali-rich and high-K magma through the partial melting of the thickened lower crust. 4Characteristics and formation mechanism of regional haze episodes in the Pearl River Delta of China显示文摘To investigate the characteristics and the specific mechanism of continuous haze,comprehensive measurements were conducted from 15 October to 19 November in the Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Super-Station in Heshan of Guangdong province.Five haze episodes occurred in October and November 2014 in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region. The meteorological parameters, gas data, chemical compositions, and optical parameters of the aerosols were obtained. Among these events, the second haze episode,with the highest concentration of PM2.5 of 187.51 μg/m^3, was the most severe. NO^3-was always higher than SO_4^(2-), which indicated that motor vehicles played an important role in the haze, even though the oxidation rate from SO_2 to SO_4^(2-)was faster than that of NOXto NO_3^-. The difference between the hourly averages of Na+and K+during the haze episode and clean days was small, implying that straw combustion and sea salt had no significant effect on the occurrence of haze, and the backward trajectories of the air masses also conformed with this result. The air pollutants were difficult to disperse because of the significant decrease in the planetary boundary layer(PBL) height. 5Effects of preventive acupuncture or moxibustion at the Guanyuan acupoint on expression of interleukin-2 and its receptors in hypothalamus, serum, and uterus of menopausal rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have indicated preventive acupuncture and moxibustion at the Guanyuan point have positive effects on the immune system of menopausal rats. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of preventive acupuncture or moxibustion at the Guanyuan point on interleukin-2 (IL-2) and its receptor (IL-2R mRNA) levels in hypothalamus, serum, and uterus of menopausal rats. DESIGN: Randomized control animal experiment. SETTING: School of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. MATERIALS: This study was performed at the Laboratory of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from November 2004 to July 2005. The vaginal smear method was used to determine the estrus cycle of 9.5-month-old Sprague Dawley (SD) female rats. Three continuous estrus cycles were measured, and 160 rats with estrus cycle disorder, weighing (300 ± 20) g, were included in this study. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: preventive acupuncture group (n =48), preventive moxibustion group (n =48), model groups (n =48), and 10-month-old group (n =16). Sixteen 3.5-month-old healthy SD female rats, weighing (240 ± 20) g, were also assigned to the young group. All rats were clean grade and were purchased from the Laboratory Animal Center, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The experiment was in accordance with animal ethics standards. METHODS: Acupuncture was applied to the preventive acupuncture group at 10 months of age. The needle was inserted upward and perpendicularly two fen to a point that was two fen below the Guanyuan point. The rats freely moved around during needle retention (20 minutes). Acupuncture was administered twice a week and continued for eight weeks. A moxa cone (small) moxibustion was applied to the preventive moxibustion group at 10 months of age. The rats were caught gently and kept at the same position as the preventive acupuncture group. The moxa cone was ignited and held to the Guanyuan point directly. Only one moxa cone was used each time. After moxibustion, the local skin turned slightly red. Moxibustion was used twice a week and continued for eight weeks. Nothing except gently catching and lying was administered to the model group and the young group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Radioimmunoassay, in situ hybridization, and similar methods were employed to detect IL-2 in serum and the uterus, as well as IL-2R mRNA expression in the hypothalamus and uterus arcuate nuclei, of the preventive acupuncture group, preventive moxibustion group, model groups (at 12, 14, and 16 months), 10 month old group (at 10 months), and the young group (at 4 months). RESULTS: All 176 rats were included in the final analysis. ① IL-2R mRNA: IL-2R mRNA expression decreased significantly in the uterus of 12-, 14-, and 16-month-old model groups and in the hypothalamus of 14- and 16-month-old model groups (P < 0.05-0.01). Compared to the same month-aged model groups, the expression of IL-2R mRNA increased significantly in the hypothalamus and uterus of 16-month-old preventive acupuncture or moxibustion groups (P < 0.05-0.01).② IL-2: IL-2 in serum of 12- and 14-month-old model groups and in the uterus of 12-, 14-, and 16-month-old model groups decreased significantly compared to the young group (P < 0.05-0.01). IL-2 serum levels increased significantly in the 16-month-old group with preventive moxibustion; in addition, IL-2 expression levels increased significantly in the uterus of the 12-month-old group with preventive moxibustion, as well as the 12- and 16-month-old groups with preventive acupuncture (P < 0.05-0.01). CONCLUSION: As a rat ages and becomes menopausal, IL-2R mRNA expression in the hypothalamus anduterus, as well as IL-2 levels in the serum and uterus, decrease. However, preventive acupuncture and preventive moxibustion can repress the decrease to some extent. 8A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. 12Immunogenicity of multi-epitope-based vaccine candidates administered with the adjuvant Gp96 against rabies显示文摘Rabies, a zoonotic disease, causes > 55,000 human deaths globally and results in at least 500 million dollars in losses every year. The currently available rabies vaccines are mainly inactivated and attenuated vaccines, which have been linked with clinical diseases in animals. Thus, a rabies vaccine with high safety and efficacy is urgently needed. Peptide vaccines are known for their low cost, simple production procedures and high safety. Therefore, in this study, we examined the efficacy of multi-epitope-based vaccine candidates against rabies virus. The ability of various peptides to induce epitope-specific responses was examined, and the two peptides that possessed the highest antigenicity and conservation, i.e., AR16 and h PAB, were coated with adjuvant canineGp96 and used to prepare vaccines. The peptides were prepared as an emulsion of oil in water(O/W) to create three batches of bivalent vaccine products. The vaccine candidates possessed high safety. Virus neutralizing antibodies were detected on the day 14 after the first immunization in mice and beagles, reaching 5–6 IU/m L in mice and 7–9 IU/m L in beagles by day 28. The protective efficacy of the vaccine candidates was about 70%–80% in mice challenged by a virulent strain of rabies virus. Thus, a novel multi-epitope-based rabies vaccine with Gp96 as an adjuvant was developed and validated in mice and dogs. 16Impacts of synoptic circulation on surface ozone pollution in a coastal eco-city in Southeastern China during 2014-2019显示文摘The coastal eco-city of Fuzhou in Southeastern China has experienced severe ozone(O_(3))episodes at times in recent years.In this study,three typical synoptic circulations types(CTs)that influenced more than 80%of O_(3) polluted days in Fuzhou during 2014-2019 were identified using a subjective approach.The characteristics of meteorological conditions linked to photochemical formation and transport of O_(3) under the three CTs were summarized.Comprehensive Air Quality Model with extensions was applied to simulate O_(3) episodes and to quantify O_(3) sources from different regions in Fuzhou.When Fuzhou was located to the west of a high-pressure system(classified as“East-ridge”),more warm southwesterly currents flowed to Fuzhou,and the effects of cross-regional transport from Guangdong province and high local production promoted the occurrence of O_(3) episodes.Under a uniform pressure field with a low-pressure system occurring to the east of Fuzhou(defined as“East-low”),stagnant weather conditions caused the strongest local production of O_(3) in the atmospheric boundary layer.Controlled by high-pressure systems over the mainland(categorized as“Inland-high”),northerly airflows enhanced the contribution of cross-regional transport to O_(3) in Fuzhou.The abnormal increases of the“East-ridge”and“Inland-high”were closely related to O_(3) pollution in Fuzhou in April and May 2018,resulting in the annual maximum number of O_(3) polluted days during recent years.Furthermore,the rising number of autumn O_(3) episodes in 2017-2019 was mainly related to the“Inland-high”,indicating the aggravation of cross-regional transport and highlighting the necessity of enhanced regional collaboration and efforts in combating O_(3) pollution.Yu Yan Xuesong Wang Zhengchao Huang Kun Qu Wenbin Shi Zimu Peng Limin Zeng Shaodong Xie Yuanhang Zhang 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,5:0
17Clinical features of multiple myeloma patients with isolated extramedullary relapse显示文摘This study sought to analyze the clinical features and prognosis of multiple myeloma with isolated extramedullary relapse and with the absence of systemic progression.The clinical features and outcome were retrospectively analyzed in six multiple myeloma patients.These patients had secretory multiple myeloma at diagnosis.When relapsed,the dissociation between medullary and extramedullary response was detected.The serum or urine monoclonal component was extremely low or absent.The plasma cells in bone marrow were <5%.All patients received new targeted therapies(thalidomide or bortezomib) before extramedullary relapse.It is difficult to achieve second remission for them.Even in those showing response,the duration of response was extremely short.The median of overall survival from diagnosis and from extramedullary relapse was 19 months and 6 months,respectively.The overall survival was significantly shorter compared to the patients without extramedullary involvement(84 months,P= 0.001).These patients exhibited a special and rare relapse pattern.Patients with this relapse pattern were resistant to current therapies,including novel targeted agents and associated with poor prognosis.Xiaoyan Qu Lijuan Chen Tian Tian Limin Duan Ruinan Lu Hua Lu Hanxin Wu Jianyong Li 2018The Journal of Biomedical Research2018,32,4:0
18Spontaneous decoration of ionic compounds at perovskite interfaces to achieve 23.38% efficiency with 85% fill factor in NiO_X-based perovskite solar cells显示文摘Inorganic hole transport materials, particularly NiO_X, have shown considerable promise in boosting the efficiency and stability of perovskite solar cells. However, a major barrier to commercialization of NiO_X-based perovskite solar cells with positive-intrinsic-negative architectures is their direct contact with the absorbing layer, which can lead to losses of photovoltage and fill factor. Furthermore, highly positive under-coordinated Ni cations degrade the perovskite at the interface. Here, we address these issues with the use of an ionic compound(QAPyBF_(4)) as an additive to passivate defects throughout the perovskite layer and improve carrier conduction and interactions with under-coordinated Ni cations. Specifically,the highly electronegative inorganic anion [BF_(4)]~- interacts with the NiO_x/perovskite interface to passivate under-coordinated cations(Ni^(≥3+)). 19Efficacy and mechanisms of Dingxian pill(定痫丸)combined with valproic acid on pentylenetetrazol-induced chronic epilepsy in rats显示文摘OBJECIVE:To investigate the efficacy and mechanisms of Dingxian pill(定痫丸)combined with valproic acid(VPA)on pentylenetetrazol-induced chronical epilepsy in rats.METHODS:A rat model of epilepsy was established by administering pentylenetetrazol(PTZ)water solution(35 mg/kg).Rats were divided into 4 groups,among which three groups were treated with different drugs once a day for 28 d including Dingxian pill(2.4 g/kg),VPA(0.2 g/kg),or a combination of Dingxian pill(2.4 g/kg)and VPA(0.2 g/kg)respectively,and the control group was given the same volume of saline.Rats in different groups were compared based on animal behavior,electroencephalograms,Morris water maze,immunohistochemistry,transcriptomics and real-time polymerase chain reaction.RSULTS:The combination therapy of Dingxian pill and VPA inhibited PTZ-induced seizure-like behavior and reduced seizure grades more significantly than VPA alone.Compared with the control group,the learning and memory ability of chronic PTZ-induced epileptic rats was improved in all the drug treatment groups,especially in the group that received both Dingxian pill and VPA.Similar to the results of MWM tests,expression of the neuroexcitability marker gene c-Fos was reduced after Dingxian pill and/or VPA treatment,and the effect was most pronounced in the combined treatment group.Transcriptomic analysis revealed that gene expression in the rodent hippocampus,which is involved in epilepsy,was upregulated by combined treatment with Dingxian pill and VPA,compared with VPA treatment alone.CONCLUSION:Our results not only highlight the antiepileptic effects of combined Dingxian pill and VPA treatment,but also shed light on the underlying molecular mechanisms and provide a way to apply Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of epilepsy.QU Dongxiao GE Yiqin ZHUO Limin CHEN Liji XUE Yonghua CHENG Jiwei TAO Jie LI Guoyi ZHU Yudan XIAO Qian 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,2:0
