1Improvement of snow depth retrieval for FY3B-MWRI in China显示文摘The primary objective of this work is to develop an operational snow depth retrieval algorithm for the FengYun3B Microwave Radiation Imager(FY3B-MWRI)in China.Based on 7-year(2002–2009)observations of brightness temperature by the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS(AMSR-E)and snow depth from Chinese meteorological stations,we develop a semi-empirical snow depth retrieval algorithm.When its land cover fraction is larger than 85%,we regard a pixel as pure at the satellite passive microwave remote-sensing scale.A 1-km resolution land use/land cover(LULC)map from the Data Center for Resources and Environmental Sciences,Chinese Academy of Sciences,is used to determine fractions of four main land cover types(grass,farmland,bare soil,and forest).Land cover sensitivity snow depth retrieval algorithms are initially developed using AMSR-E brightness temperature data.Each grid-cell snow depth was estimated as the sum of snow depths from each land cover algorithm weighted by percentages of land cover types within each grid cell.Through evaluation of this algorithm using station measurements from 2006,the root mean square error(RMSE)of snow depth retrieval is about 5.6 cm.In forest regions,snow depth is underestimated relative to ground observation,because stem volume and canopy closure are ignored in current algorithms.In addition,comparison between snow cover derived from AMSR-E and FY3B-MWRI with Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)snow cover products(MYD10C1)in January 2010 showed that algorithm accuracy in snow cover monitoring can reach 84%.Finally,we compared snow water equivalence(SWE)derived using FY3B-MWRI with AMSR-E SWE products in the Northern Hemisphere.The results show that AMSR-E overestimated SWE in China,which agrees with other validations.JIANG LingMei WANG Pei ZHANG LiXin YANG Hu YANG JunTao 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6:22

3Response-surface-based structural reliability analysis with random and interval mixed uncertainties显示文摘Traditional reliability analysis requires probability distributions of all the uncertain parameters.However,in many practical applications,the variation bounds can be only determined for the parameters with limited information.A complex hybrid reliability problem then will be caused when the random and interval variables coexist in a same structure.In this paper,by introducing the response surface technique,we develop a new hybrid reliability method to efficiently compute the interval of the failure probability of the structure due to the probability-interval hybrid uncertainty.The present method consists of a sequence of iterations.At each step,a response surface model is constructed for the limit-state function by using a quadratic polynomial and a modified axial experimental design method.An approximate hybrid reliability problem is created based on the response surface model,which is subsequently solved by an efficient decoupling approach.An updating strategy is suggested to improve the quality of the response surface and whereby ensure the reliability analysis precision.A computational procedure is then summarized for the whole iterations.Four numerical examples and also a practical application are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the present method.HAN Xu JIANG Chao LIU LiXin LIU Jie LONG XiangYun 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,7:14
4Identification and standardization of maneuvers based upon operational flight data显示文摘To find a way of loads analysis from operational flight data for advanced aircraft,maneuver identification and standardization jobs are conducted in this paper. For thousands of sorties from one aircraft, after studying the flight attitude when performing actions, the start and end time of the maneuvers can be determined. According to those time points, various types of maneuvers during the flight are extracted in the form of multi-parameters time histories. By analyzing the numerical range and curve shape of those parameters, a characteristic data library is established to model all types of maneuvers. Based on this library, a computer procedure using pattern-recognition theory is programmed to conduct automatic maneuver identification with high accuracy. In that way, operational loads are classified according to maneuver type. For a group of identified maneuvers of the same type, after the processes of time normalization, trace shifting, as well as averaging and smoothing, the idealization standard time history of each maneuver type is established.Finally, the typical load statuses are determined successfully based on standard maneuvers. 5Pediatric reference intervals in China(PRINCE):design and rationale for a large,multicenter collaborative cross-sectional study显示文摘There is a lack of accurate pediatric reference intervals(RIs) in China, with most commonly used RIs established without consideration of the effect of age and gender. The Pediatric Reference Intervals in China(PRINCE) project aims to establish and verify pediatric RIs for 31 common laboratory measurands.The project will be a large, multicenter cross-sectional study:14,490 healthy children and adolescents aged up to 19 years will be surveyed by 10 children's hospitals and one pediatric department of a university hospital. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the study methods, 602 children were surveyed in the pilot phase of the PRINCE study in April 2017: it found that some measurands were distinctly age dependent and that there were differences between values for males and females. The results of the pilot study affirmed the necessity of the PRINCE project for Chinese pediatrics. The pilot also indicated potential difficulties in the full survey, e.g., difficulties in recruiting children aged under 3 years and insufficient collection of blood samples from infants. 10Complete three-dimensional coseismic displacements due to the 2021 Maduo earthquake in Qinghai Province,China from Sentinel-1 and ALOS-2 SAR images显示文摘On 22 nd May 2021(local time),an earthquake of M_(s)7.4 struck Maduo county in Qinghai Province,China.This was the largest earthquake in China since the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.In this study,ascending/descending Sentinel-1 and advanced land observation satellite-2(ALOS-2)synthetic aperture radar(SAR)images were used to derive the three-dimensional(3-D)coseismic displacements of this earthquake.We used the differential interferometric SAR(In SAR,DIn SAR),pixel offset-tracking(POT),multiple aperture In SAR(MAI),and burst overlap interferometry(BOI)methods to derive the displacement observations along the line-of-sight(LOS)and azimuth directions.To accurately mitigate the effect of ionospheric delay on the ALOS-2 DIn SAR observations,a polynomial fitting method was proposed to optimize range-spectrum-split-derived ionospheric phases.In addition,the 3-D displacement field was obtained by a strain model and variance component estimation(SM-VCE)method based on the high-quality SAR displacement observations.Results indicated that a left-lateral fault slip with the largest horizontal displacement of up to 2.4 m dominated this earthquake,and the small-magnitude vertical displacement with an alternating uplift/subsidence pattern along the fault trace was more concentrated in the near-fault regions.Comparison with the global navigation satellite system data indicated that the SM-VCE method can significantly improve the accuracy of the displacements compared to the classical weighted least squares method,and the incorporation of the BOI displacements can substantially benefit the accuracy of north-south displacement.In addition to the displacements,three coseismic strain invariants calculated based on the strain model parameters were also investigated.It was found that the eastern and western parts of the faults suffered more significant strains compared with the epicenter region.Jihong LIU Jun HU Zhiwei LI Zhangfeng MA Lixin WU Weiping JIANG Guangcai FENG Jianjun ZHU 2022Science China Earth Sciences2022,65,4:6
11The cellular labeling and pH-sensitive responsive-drug release of celastrol in cancer cells based on Cys-CdTe QDs显示文摘As one of the active compounds derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine,Celastrol(CSL)had cytotoxicity for human leukemia cancer cells K562 and its multidrug-resistant cell line K562/A02.Here,we introduced cysteamine-modified CdTe QDs as the labeling and drug carrier into CSL research and found that the self-assembly and conjugation of anticancer molecular CSL with the Cys-CdTe QDs could significantly increase the drug’s cytotoxicity for K562 cells.More important,these CSL-Cys-CdTe nanocomposites could overcome the multidrug resistance of K562/A02 cells and efficiently inhibit the cancer cell proliferation by realizing the pH-sensitive responsive release of CSL to cancer cells.The enhanced cytotoxicity was caused by the increase of the G2/M phase arrest for K562/A02 cells as well as for K562 cells.Cys-CdTe QDs can readily bind on the cell plasma membranes and be internalized into cancer cells to trace and detect human leukemia cancer cells in real time.In addition,these Cys-CdTe QDs can facilitate the inhibition of the multidrug resistance of K562/A02 cells and readily induce apoptosis.As a good photosensitizer for the therapy,labeling,and tracing of cancer cells,the combination of CSL with Cys-CdTe QDs can optimize the use of and a new potential therapy method for CSL and yield new tools to explore the mechanisms of active compounds from Traditional Chinese Medicine.LI JingYuan SHI LiXin SHAO YiXiang SELKE Matthias CHEN BaoAn JIANG Hui WANG XueMei 2014Science China Chemistry2014,57,6:6
12Comparison of lymph node number and prognosis in gastric cancer patients with perigastric lymph nodes retrieved by surgeons and pathologists显示文摘Objective: To compare the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes and prognosis in gastric cancer patients whose perigastric lymph node retrieval was performed by surgeons and pathologists.Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of clinical and follow-up data from 1,056 patients who underwent gastric cancer D2 radical lymph node resection between January 2008 and December 2010 in the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department of Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital.The follow-up ended in December 2015.Patients were divided into two groups according to the specialty of physicians who performed the postoperative perigastric lymph node retrieval: the surgeon group(475 cases) and the pathologist group(581 cases).The numbers of positive and total perigastric lymph nodes and the 3- and 5-year survival were compared between gastric cancer patients in the two groups overall and stratified by TNM stage(AJCC 7th Edition).Results: Overall, the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes were significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group(6.53±4.07 vs.4.09±3.70, P=0.021; 29.64±11.50 vs.20.71±8.56, P<0.001).Further analysis showed that the total number of lymph nodes in stage Ⅰ patients(19.40±9.62 vs.15.45±8.59, P=0.011) and the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes in stage Ⅱ(1.38±1.08 vs.0.87±1.55, P=0.031; 25.35±10.80 vs.16.75±8.56, P<0.001) and stage Ⅲ patients(8.11±6.91 vs.6.66±5.12, P=0.026; 32.34±12.55 vs.25.45±8.31, P<0.001)were significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group.The survival analysis showed that the3- and 5-year survival of stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ patients was significantly higher in the surgeon group than in the pathologist group(82.0% vs.73.1%, 69.5% vs.61.2%, P=0.038; 49.2% vs.38.9%, 36.3% vs.28.0%; P=0.045).Conclusions: Compared with retrieval performed by pathologists, postoperative perigastric lymph node retrieval performed by surgeons was associated with significant increase in the total lymph node number of stage Ⅰ patients, the numbers of positive and total lymph nodes of stage Ⅱ and Ⅲ patients, and the survival of stage Ⅱ and stage Ⅲ gastric cancer patients.Lixin Jiang Zengwu Yao Yifei Zhang Jinchen Hu Dawei Zhao Huiyuan Zhai Xixun Wang Zhenbin Zhang Dong Wang 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:5
13Effects of spatial distribution of soil parameters on soil moisture retrieval from passive microwave remote sensing显示文摘In this paper,we studied the effect of spatial distribution of soil parameters on passive soil moisture retrieval at pixel scale.First,we evaluated the forward microwave emission model and soil moisture retrieval algorithm accuracy through the observa-tion of field experiments.Then,we used soil parameters in different spatial distribution patterns,including random,normal,and uniform distribution,to determine the different levels of heterogeneity on soil moisture retrieval,in order to seek the rela-tionship between heterogeneity and soil moisture retrieval error.Finally,we conducted a controlled heterogeneity effect ex-periment measurements using a Truck-mounted Multi-frequency Radiometer(TMMR) to validate our simulation results.This work has proved that the soil moisture retrieval algorithm had a high accuracy(RMSE=0.049 cm3 cm 3) and can satisfy the need of this research.The simulation brightness temperatures match well with observations,with RMSE=9.89 K.At passive microwave remote sensing pixel scale,soil parameters with different spatial distribution patterns could have different levels of error on soil moisture estimation.Overall,we found that soil moisture with a random distribution in a satellite pixel scale can cause the largest error,with a normal distribution being the second,and a uniform distribution the least due to the smallest het-erogeneity.ZHANG Tao ZHANG LiXin JIANG LingMei ZHAO ShaoJie ZHAO TianJie LI YunQing 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,8:5
14Effects of ionic strength and temperature on the aggregation and deposition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes显示文摘The aggregation and deposition of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) determines their transport and fate in natural waters.Therefore,the aggregation kinetics of humic-acid treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes(HA-MWCNTs) was investigated by time-resolved dynamic light scattering in NaCl and CaCl_2 electrolyte solutions.Increased ionic strength induced HA-MWCNT aggregation due to the less negative zeta potential and the reduced electrostatic repulsion.The critical coagulation concentration(CCC) values of HA-MWCNTs were 80 mmol/L in NaCl and 1.3 mmol/L in CaCl_2 electrolyte,showing that Ca^(2+) causes more serious aggregation than Na^+.The aggregation behavior of HA-MWCNTs was consistent with Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek theory.The deposition kinetics of HA-MWCNTs was measured by the optical absorbance at 800 ran.The critical deposition concentrations for HA-MWCNT in NaCl and CaCl_2 solutions were close to the CCC values,therefore the rate of deposition cannot be increased by changing the ionic strength in the diffusion-limited aggregation regime.The deposition process was correlated to the aggregation since larger aggregates increased gravitational deposition and decreased random Brownian diffusion.HA-MWCNTs hydrodynamic diameters were evaluated at 5,15 and 25℃.Higher temperature caused faster aggregation due to the reduced electrostatic repulsion and increased random Brownian motion and collision frequency.HA-MWCNTs aggregate faster at higher temperature in either NaCl or CaCl_2electrolyte due to the decreased electrostatic repulsion and increased random Brownian motion.Our results suggest that CNT aggregation and deposition are two correlated processes governed by the electrolyte,and CNT transport is favored at low ionic strength and low temperature.Lixin Wang Xuezhi Yang Qi Wang Yuxuan Zeng Lei Ding Wei Jiang 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:5

17Application of the Levenberg-Marquardt Method in Improving Technology of the Seismic Influence Field显示文摘Attenuation relation of seismic intensity is fitted by using 152 complete isoseismic lines from65 earthquakes which were greater than MS4. 0 from 1940 to 2015 in Inner Mongolia and neighboring regions. Meanwhile,based on the difference of land form and geological structure characteristics,the study area is the divided into eastern,western and central.The intensity attenuation relationships are established separately by using the LM( Levenberg-Marquardt) method and elliptic attenuation model. Comparisons are made by using the earthquake affecting field model of North China and computed results. 18An Examination of the Predictability of Tropical Cyclone Genesis in High-Resolution Coupled Models with Dynamically Downscaled Coupled Data Assimilation Initialization显示文摘Predicting tropical cyclone(TC)genesis is of great societal importance but scientifically challenging.It requires fineresolution coupled models that properly represent air−sea interactions in the atmospheric responses to local warm sea surface temperatures and feedbacks,with aid from coherent coupled initialization.This study uses three sets of highresolution regional coupled models(RCMs)covering the Asia−Pacific(AP)region initialized with local observations and dynamically downscaled coupled data assimilation to evaluate the predictability of TC genesis in the West Pacific.The APRCMs consist of three sets of high-resolution configurations of the Weather Research and Forecasting−Regional Ocean Model System(WRF-ROMS):27-km WRF with 9-km ROMS,and 9-km WRF with 3-km ROMS.In this study,a 9-km WRF with 9-km ROMS coupled model system is also used in a case test for the predictability of TC genesis.Since the local sea surface temperatures and wind shear conditions that favor TC formation are better resolved,the enhanced-resolution coupled model tends to improve the predictability of TC genesis,which could be further improved by improving planetary boundary layer physics,thus resolving better air−sea and air−land interactions.Mingkui LI Shaoqing ZHANG Lixin WU Xiaopei LIN Ping CHANG Gohkan DANABASOGLU Zhiqiang WEI Xiaolin YU Huiqin HU Xiaohui MA Weiwei MA Haoran ZHAO Dongning JIA Xin LIU Kai MAO Youwei MA Yingjing JIANG Xue WANG Guangliang LIU Yuhu CHEN 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,9:4

20Theoretical study on boiling heat transfer in the Xi'an pulsed reactor显示文摘Boiling heat transfer condition has significance for pool-type research reactors cooled by natural circulation.It has important effect on the fuel element safety of reactor.On the basis of heat transfer characteristics of the Xi'an pulsed reactor(XAPR),fuel conduction,single-phase convection and boiling heat transfer,and void fraction models of the core are constructed.To validate the correctness of the physical models presented in the paper,numerical calculation based on a subchannel analysis method of XAPR is carried out,and the temperature fields are measured in some reactor coolant channels.The comparison between the calculated and experimental results verifies the effectiveness of the models.These physical models are used to calculate the thermal-hydraulic parameters of XAPR at the rated power(for XAPR the rated power is 2.0 MW in steady-state operation).The results indicate that subcooled boiling occurs in the XAPR core but it exhibits a subcooling degree which is considerably higher than that of saturation boiling.Subcooled boiling improves the efficiency of heat transfer between the fuel element surface and coolant,as well as effectively protects fuel elements.This research is also a beneficial reference in thermal-hydraulic analysis for other natural circulation reactors.CHEN LiXin TANG XiaoBin JIANG XinBiao CHEN Da ZHAO ZhuMin 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:2
