3Cognitive impairment and the associated risk factors among the elderly in the Shanghai urban area:a pilot study from China显示文摘Objectives:Our study aimed to investigate the prevalence of cognitive impairment(CI)and the associated risk factors among elderly people in Shanghai urban area,China.Methods:A population-based survey was conducted among people aged 55 years or older in urban areas of Shanghai.Face-to-face interviews were carried out to collect information including demographic characteristics,medical history,and medication use,etc.The validated Chinese version of the Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)was used to screen subjects with CI,and the criteria of CI were adjusted for education levels.Results:A total of 3,176 home-living residents(≥55 years old)were included in the study.Among them,266 people(102 men and 164 women)were identified as cognition impaired,with a prevalence of 8.38%(266/3,176,95%CI:(8.26,8.49))for both genders,9.21%(102/1,107,95%CI:(9.18,9.33))for men and 7.93%(164/2,069,95%CI:(7.80,8.09))for women,respectively.Furthermore,we found that several significant risk factors,including social factors(education,number of children,marriage status,and family structure),physiological factors(age,blood glucose level,and obesity),factors on living styles(physical exercise,diet&chronic diseases),and genetic factor(ApoE),associated with CI onset.Conclusions:This study confirms the high prevalence of CI among the elderly population in the Shanghai urban in China,similar to previous epidemiologic studies in Western countries.The putative risk factors associated with CI merit further investigated.Jun-Peng Zhuang Gang Wang Qi Cheng Li-Ling Wang Rong Fang Li-Hua Liu Ran Xiong Yu Zhang Ya-Xing Gui Wen-Yan Kang Hui-Dong Tang Sheng-Di Chen 2012Translational Neurodegeneration2012,1,1:10

5A novel nomogram individually predicting disease-specific survival after D2 gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer显示文摘Background:Few studies have shown nomograms that may predict disease-specific survival(DSS)probability after curative D2 gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer(AGC),particularly among Chinese patients.This study sought to develop an elaborative nomogram that predicts long-term DSS for AGC in Chinese patients.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 6753 AGC patients undergoing D2 gastrectomy between January 1,2000 and December 31,2012 from three large medical hospitals in China.We assigned patients from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center to the training set,and patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University and Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital to two separate external validation sets.A multivariate survival analysis was performed using Cox proportional hazards regression model in a training set,and a nomogram was constructed.Harrell’s C-index was used to evaluate discrimination and calibration plots were used to validate similarities between survival probabilities predicted by the nomogram model and actual survival rates in two validation sets.Results:The multivariate Cox regression model identified age,tumor size,location,Lauren classification,lymphatic/venous invasion,depth of invasion,and metastatic lymph node ratio as covariates associated with survival.In the training set,the nomogram exhibited superior discrimination power compared with the 8th American Joint Com-mittee on Cancer TNM classification(Harrell’s C-index,0.82 vs.0.74;P<0.001).In two validation sets,the nomogram’s discrimination power was also excellent relative to TNM classification(C-index,0.83 vs.0.75 and 0.81 vs.0.74,respec-tively;P<0.001 for both).After calibration,the nomogram produced survival predictions that corresponded closely with actual survival rate.Conclusions:The established nomogram was able to predict 3-,5-,and 10-year DSS probabilities for AGC patients.Validation revealed that this nomogram exhibited excellent discrimination and calibration capacity,suggesting its clinical utility.Wei Wang Zhe Sun Jing-Yu Deng Xiao-Long Qi Xing-Yu Feng Cheng Fang Xing-Hua Ma Zhen-Ning Wang Han Liang Hui-Mian Xu Zhi-Wei Zhou 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:8
6Systematic identification of endogenous RNA polymeraseⅢpromoters for efficient RNA guidebased genome editing technologies in maize显示文摘Single-guide RNA(sg RNA) is one of the two core components of the CRISPR(clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat)/Cas(CRISPR-associated) genome-editing technology. We established an in vitro Traffic Light Reporter(TLR) system, which is designated as the same colors as traffic lights such as green, red and yellow were produced in cells. The TLR can be readily used in maize mesophyll protoplast for a quick test of promoter activity. The TLR assay indicates the variation in transcription activities of the seven Pol III promoters, from 3.4%(U6-1) to over 21.0%(U6-6). The U6-2 promoter, which was constructed to drive sg RNA expression targeting the Zm Wx1 gene, yielded mutation efficiencies ranging from 48.5% to 97.1%. Based on the reported and unpublished data, the in vitro TLR assay results were confirmed to be a readily system and may be extended to other plant species amenable to efficient genome editing via CRISPR/Cas. 8The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. 9Association between Selenium in Soil and Diabetes in Chinese Residents Aged 35–74 Years:Results from the 2010 National Survey of Chronic Diseases and Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance显示文摘Objective To explore the association between soil selenium levels and the risk of diabetes in Chinese adults aged 35–74 years.Methods Data for this study were derived from the China Chronic Diseases and Behavioral Risk Factors Surveillance 2010 survey.Selenium concentrations in soil were obtained from the Atlas of Soil Environmental Background Values in China.A two-level binary logistic regression model was used to determine the association between soil selenium concentrations and the risk of diabetes,with participants nested within districts/counties.Results A total of 69,332 participants aged 35–74 years,from 158 districts/counties were included in the analysis.Concentrations of selenium in soil varied greatly across the 158 districts/counties,with a median concentration of 0.219 mg/kg(IQR:0.185–0.248).The results showed that both Quartile 1(0.119–0.185 mg/kg)and Quartile 4(0.249–0.344 mg/kg)groups were positively associated with diabetes compared to a soil selenium concentration of 0.186–0.219 mg/kg(Quartile 2),crude odds ratios(ORs)(95%CI)were 1.227(1.003–1.502)and 1.280(1.048–1.563).The P values were 0.045 and 0.013,for Quartile 1 and Quartile 4 groups,respectively.After adjusting for all confounding factors of interest,the Quartile 1 group became non-significant,and the Quartile 4 group had an adjusted OR(95%CI)of 1.203(1.018–1.421)relative to the reference group(Quartile 2),the P values was 0.030.No significant results were seen for the Quartile 3 group(0.220–0.248 mg/kg)compared to the reference group.Conclusion Excessive selenium concentrations in soil could increase the risk of diabetes among Chinese adults aged 35–74 years.WANG Qi Qi YU Shi Cheng XU Cheng Dong LIU Jian Jun LI Yuan Qiu ZHANG Man Hui LONG Xiao Juan LIU Yun Ning BI Yu Fang ZHAO Wen Hua YAO Hong Yan 2020Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,4:3
10First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. 11Calibration procedures for the CHASE/HIS science data显示文摘The Hα line is an important optical line in solar observations containing the information from the photosphere to the chromosphere. To study the mechanisms of solar eruptions and the plasma dynamics in the lower atmosphere, the Chinese Hα Solar Explorer(CHASE) was launched into a Sun-synchronous orbit on October 14, 2021. The scientific payload of the CHASE satellite is the Hα Imaging Spectrograph(HIS). The CHASE/HIS acquires, for the first time, seeing-free Hα spectroscopic observations with high spectral and temporal resolutions. It consists of two observational modes. The raster scanning mode provides full-Sun or region-of-interest spectra at Hα(6559.7-6565.9 ?) and Fe I(6567.8-6570.6 ?) wavebands. The continuum imaging mode obtains full-Sun photospheric images at around 6689 ?. In this paper, we present detailed calibration procedures for the CHASE/HIS science data, including the dark-field and flat-field correction, slit image curvature correction, wavelength and intensity calibration, and coordinate transformation. 13Visible-light stimulated synaptic plasticity in amorphous indium−gallium−zinc oxide enabled by monocrystalline double perovskite for high-performance neuromorphic applications显示文摘Photoelectric synaptic devices have been considered as one of the key components in artificial neuromorphic systems due to their excellent capability to emulate the functions of visual neurons,such as light perception and image processing.Herein,we demonstrate an optically-stimulated artificial synapse with a clear photoresponse from ultraviolet to visible light,which is established on a novel heterostructure consisting of monocrystalline Cs2AgBiBr6 perovskite and indium–gallium–zinc oxide(IGZO)thin film.As compared with pure IGZO,the heterostructure significantly enhances the photoresponse and corresponding synaptic plasticity of the devices,which originate from the superior visible absorption of single-crystal Cs2AgBiBr6 and effective interfacial charge transfer from Cs2AgBiBr6 to IGZO.A variety of synaptic behaviors are realized on the fabricated thin-film transistors,including excitatory postsynaptic current,paired pulse facilitation,short-term,and long-term plasticity.Furthermore,an artificial neural network is simulated based on the photonic potentiation and electrical depression effects of synaptic devices,and an accuracy rate up to 83.8%±1.2%for pattern recognition is achieved.This finding promises a simple and efficient way to construct photoelectric synaptic devices with tunable spectrum for future neuromorphic applications.Fu Huang Feier Fang Yue Zheng Qi You Henan Li Shaofan Fang Xiangna Cong Ke Jiang Ye Wang Cheng Han Wei Chen Yumeng Shi 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:2

17Can the temperature of Ellerman Bombs be more than 10 000 K?显示文摘Ellerman bombs(EBs) are small brightening events in the solar lower atmosphere.By their original definition,the main characteristic of EBs is the two emission bumps in both wings of chromospheric lines,such as Hα and CaII 8542  lines.Up to now,most authors have found that the temperature increase of EBs around the temperature minimum region is in the range of 600–3000 K.However,with recent IRIS observations,some authors proposed that the temperature increase of EBs could be more than 10000 K.Using non-LTE semi-empirical modeling,we investigate the line profiles,continuum emission and radiative losses for EB models with different temperature increases,and compare them with observations.Our result indicates that if the EB maximum temperature reaches more than 10000 K around the temperature minimum region,then the resulting Hα and CaII 8542  line profiles and the continuum emission would be much stronger than those of EB observations.Moreover,due to the high radiative losses,a high temperature EB would have a very short lifetime,which is not compatible with observations.Thus,our study does not support the proposal that EB temperatures are higher than 10000 K.Cheng Fang Qi Hao Ming-De Ding Zhen Li 2017Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2017,17,4:2

19Can we determine the filament chirality by the filament footpoint location or the barb-bearing?显示文摘We attempt to propose a method for automatically detecting the solar filament chirality and barb bearing. We first introduce the concept of an unweighted undirected graph and adopt the Dijkstra shortest path algorithm to recognize the filament spine. Then, we use the polarity inversion line(PIL) shift method for measuring the polarities on both sides of the filament, and employ the connected components labeling method to identify the barbs and calculate the angle between each barb and the spine to determine the bearing of the barbs, i.e., left or right. We test the automatic detection method with Hα filtergrams from the Big Bear Solar Observatory(BBSO) Hα archive and magnetograms observed with the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager(HMI) on board the Solar Dynamics Observatory(SDO). Four filaments are automatically detected and illustrated to show the results. The barbs in different parts of a filament may have opposite bearings. The filaments in the southern hemisphere(northern hemisphere) mainly have left-bearing(rightbearing) barbs and positive(negative) magnetic helicity, respectively. The tested results demonstrate that our method is efficient and effective in detecting the bearing of filament barbs.
