1EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON HIGH-SPEED CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS WITH DIFFERENT IMPELLERS显示文摘The experimental study is carded out on high-speed centrifugal pumps with three different impellers. The ex-perimental results and analysis show that high-speed centrifugal pumps with a closed complex impeller can achieve thehighest efficiency and the lowest head coefficient followed by those with half-open impeller and open-impeller, and canobtain much easily stable head-capacity characrastic curve, while those with a half-open complex impeller can't. Thecharacteristic curve with a open impeller is almost constant horizontal line before dropping sharply. 2Compact, submilliwatt, 2 × 2 silicon thermo-optic switch based on photonic crystal nanobeam cavities显示文摘We propose and experimentally demonstrate a 2×2 thermo-optic(TO) crossbar switch implemented by dual photonic crystal nanobeam(PCN)cavities within a silicon-on-insulator(SOI)platform.By thermally tuning the refractive index of silicon,the resonance wavelength of the PCN cavities can be red-shifted.With the help of the ultrasmall mode volumes of the PCN cavities,only~0.16 mW power is needed to change the switching state.With a spectral passband of 0.09 nm at the 1583.75 nm operation wavelength,the insertion loss(IL)and crosstalk(CT)performances were measured as IL(bar)=-0.2 dB,CT(bar)=-15 dB,IL(cross)=-1.5 dB,and CT(cross)=-15 dB.Furthermore,the thermal tuning efficiency of the fabricated device is as high as1.23 nm/mW.HUANYING ZHOU CIYUAN QIU XINHONG JIANG QINGMING ZHU YU HE YONG ZHANG YIKAI SU RICHARD SOREF 2017Photonics Research2017,5,2:8
3On-chip silicon photonic 2 × 2 mode-and polarization-selective switch with low inter-modal crosstalk显示文摘Mode-and polarization-division multiplexing offer new dimensions to increase the transmission capacity of optical communications. Selective switches are key components in reconfigurable optical network nodes. An on-chip silicon 2 × 2 mode-and polarization-selective switch that can route four data channels on two modes and two polarizations simultaneously is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The overall insertion losses are lower than 8.6 d B. To reduce the inter-modal crosstalk, polarization beam splitters are added to filter the undesired polarizations or modes. 4Attribution analysis based on Budyko hypothesis for land evapotranspiration change in the Loess Plateau, China显示文摘Land evapotranspiration(ET) is an important process connecting soil, vegetation and the atmosphere, especially in regions that experience shortage in precipitation.Since 1999, the implementation of a large-scale vegetation restoration project has significantly improved the ecological environment of the Loess Plateau in China.However, the quantitative assessment of the contribution of vegetation restoration projects to long-term ET is still in its infancy.In this study, we investigated changes in land ET and associated driving factors from 1982 to 2014 in the Loess Plateau using Budyko-based partial differential methods.Overall, annual ET slightly increased by 0.28 mm/a and there were no large fluctuations after project implementation.An attribution analysis showed that precipitation was the driving factor of inter-annual variability of land ET throughout the study period;the average impacts of precipitation, potential evapotranspiration, and vegetation restoration on ET change were 61.5%, 11.5% and 26.9%, respectively.These results provide an improved understanding of the relationship between vegetation condition change and climate variation on terrestrial ET in the study area and can support future decision-making regarding water resource availability.HE Guohua ZHAO Yong WANG Jianhua GAO Xuerui HE Fan LI Haihong ZHAI Jiaqi WANG Qingming ZHU Yongnan 2019Journal of Arid Land2019,11,6:5

6Biomimetic polyetheretherketone microcarriers with specific surface topography and self-secreted extracellular matrix for large-scale cell expansion显示文摘Reusable microcarriers with appropriate surface topography,mechanical properties,as well as biological modification through decellularization facilitating repeated cell culture are crucial for tissue engineering applications.Herein,we report the preparation of topological polyetheretherketone(PEEK)microcarriers via gas-driven and solvent exchange method followed by hydrothermal treatment at high temperature and pressure.After hydrothermal treated for 8 h,the resulting topological PEEK microcarriers exhibit walnut-like surface topography and good sphericity as well as uniform size distribution of 350.24619.44 mm.And the average width between ravine-patterned surface of PEEK microcarriers is 7806290 nm.After repeated steam sterilization by autoclaving for three times,topological PEEK microcarriers show nearly identical results compared with previous ones indicating strong tolerance to high temperature and pressure.This is a unique advantage for large-scale cell expansion and clinical applications.Moreover,PEEK microcarriers with special topography possess higher protein adsorption efficiency.In addition,the reutilization and biofunctionalization with repeated decellularization of topological PEEK microcarriers show highly beneficial for cell adhesion and proliferation.Therefore,our study is of great importance for new generation microcarriers with micro-and nano-scale surface feature for a broad application prospect in tissue engineering.Qingming Ji ZongliangWang Zixue Jiao Yu Wang Zhenxu Wu Peng Wang Yuhang Zhu Shuo Sun Yi Liu Peibiao Zhang 2020Regenerative Biomaterials2020,7,1:3
7Study on the mechanical behavior of adhesive interface by digital image correlation显示文摘The shear modulus of the adhesive layer and the failure mode of adhesive structure on single lap joint specimens under tensile tests are investigated in this paper.The aluminum-aluminum adherends are bonded by two different adhesives:polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and epoxy.The full deformation fields are measured using the digital image correlation (DIC) method with the images on the middle part of the adhesive layer recorded by a high resolution microscope.Then,the shear modulus values of the two adhesives are calculated with a simple pure shear strain model.A numerical model is proposed to simulate the single lap joint structure under tensile load in comparison with the experimental results.The results show that this method can successfully estimate the shear modulus of the adhesive layer.The failure behavior of epoxy adhesive/adherend interface is also analyzed and discussed.GUO BaoQiao XIE HuiMin ZHU JianGuo WANG HuaiXi CHEN PengWan ZHANG QingMing 2011Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,4:3
8Multi-channel 28-GHz millimeter-wave signal generation on a silicon photonic chip with automated polarization control显示文摘We propose and experimentally demonstrate an integrated silicon photonic scheme to generate multi-channel millimeter-wave(MMW) signals for 5 G multi-user applications. The fabricated silicon photonic chip has a footprint of 1.1 × 2.1 mm^2 and integrates 7 independent channels each having on-chip polarization control and heterodyne mixing functions. 7 channels of4-Gb/s QPSK baseband signals are delivered via a 2-km multi-core fiber(MCF) and coupled into the chip with a local oscillator(LO) light. The polarization state of each signal light is automatically adjusted and aligned with that of the LO light, and then 7 channels of 28-GHz MMW carrying 4-Gb/s QPSK signals are generated by optical heterodyne beating. 9IMPROVE OPTICAL CLEARING OF SKIN IN VITRO WITH PROPYLENE GLYCOL AS A PENETRATION ENHANCER显示文摘In order to enhance the optical clearing effect of topically applied optical clearing agents(OCAs),we evaluated the effect of propylene glycol(PG)as a chemical penetration enhancer(PE)on optical clearing of skin in vitro by observation and measurement of optical-transmittance and diffuse-reflectance spectra.Three OCAs,i.e.,glycerol,D-sorbitol and PEG400,and two other penetration enhancers,Azone and Thiazone,were used in this study.The results indicated that the decrease of reduced scattering coefficient caused by OCA/PG was larger than that by pure OCA,and the change by OCA/water was the least after the same treatment time.There were significant differences for the reduced scattering coefficient at 630 nm after 120 min application of agents between OCA and OCA/PG.The efficacy of optical clearing caused by OCA/PG depended on the OCA itself.When PEG400 was mixed with three different PEs,we found the optical clearing were different.The penetration enhancing ability of PG was much better compared to Azone,and suboptimal to Thiazone.Also,this study provides evidence for the use of PG as a PE in order to improve skin optical clearing.ZHONGWEI ZHI ZHENZHEN HAN QINGMING LUO DAN ZHU 2009Journal of Innovative Optical Health Sciences2009,2,3:2
10Impact of large-scale vegetation restoration project on summer land surface temperature on the Loess Plateau, China显示文摘A large-scale afforestation project has been carried out since 1999 in the Loess Plateau of China. However, vegetation-induced changes in land surface temperature (LST) through the changing land surface energy balance have not been well documented. Using satellite measurements, this study quantified the contribution of vegetation restoration to the changes in summer LST and analyzed the effects of different vegetation restoration patterns on LST during both daytime and nighttime. The results show that the average daytime LST decreased by 4.3°C in the vegetation restoration area while the average nighttime LST increased by 1.4°C. The contributions of the vegetation restoration project to the changes in daytime LST and nighttime LST are 58% and 60%, respectively, which are far greater than the impact of climate change. The vegetation restoration pattern of cropland (CR) converting into artificial forest (AF) has a cooling effect during daytime and a warming effect at nighttime, while the conversion of CR to grassland has an opposite effect compared with the conversion of CR to AF. 20Restoration of FMRP expression in adult V1 neurons rescues visual deficits in a mouse model of fragile X syndrome显示文摘Many people affected by fragile X syndrome(FXS)and autism spectrum disorders have sensory processing deficits,such as hypersensitivity to auditory,tactile,and visual stimuli.Like FXS in humans,loss of Fmr1 in rodents also cause sensory,behavioral,and cognitive deficits.However,the neural mechanisms underlying sensory impairment,especially vision impairment,remain unclear.It remains elusive whether the visual processing deficits originate from corrupted inputs,impaired perception in the primary sensory cortex,or altered integration in the higher cortex,and there is no effective treatment.In this study,we used a genetic knockout mouse model(Fmr1^(KO)),in vivo imaging,and behavioral measurements to show that the loss of Fmr1 impaired signal processing in the primary visual cortex(V1).Specifically,Fmr1^(KO) mice showed enhanced responses to low-intensity stimuli but normal responses to high-intensity stimuli.This abnormality was accompanied by enhancements in local network connectivity in V1 microcircuits and increased dendritic complexity of V1 neurons.These effects were ameliorated by the acute application of GABAA receptor activators,which enhanced the activity of inhibitory neurons,or by reintroducing Fmr1 gene expression in knockout V1 neurons in both juvenile and young-adult mice.Overall,V1 plays an important role in the visual abnormalities of Fmr1^(KO) mice and it could be possible to rescue the sensory disturbances in developed FXS and autism patients.Chaojuan Yang Yonglu Tian Feng Su Yangzhen Wang Mengna Liu Hongyi Wang Yaxuan Cui Peijiang Yuan Xiangning Li Anan Li Hui Gong Qingming Luo Desheng Zhu Peng Cao Yunbo Liu Xunli Wang Min-hua Luo Fuqiang Xu Wei Xiong Liecheng Wang Xiang-yao Li Chen Zhang 2022Protein & Cell2022,13,3:0
