Efects of physical and chemical characteristics of surface sediments in the formation of shallow lake algae-induced black bloom显示文摘Surface sediments are closely related to lake black blooms. The dissolved oxygen(DO) distribution and its penetration depth in surface sediments as well as the migration and transformation of redox sensitive elements such as Fe and S at the sediment-water interface are important factors that could influence the formation of the black bloom. In this study, dredged and undredged sediment cores with diferent surface properties were used to simulate black blooms in the laboratory. The Micro Profiling System was employed to explore features of the DO and ∑ H2 S distribution at the sediment-water interface. Physical and chemical characteristics in sediments and pore waters were also analyzed. The results showed that sediment dredging efectively suppressed the black blooms. In the undredged treatment, DO penetration depth was only 50 μm. Fe2+concentrations, ∑ H2 S concentrations, and ∑ H2 S production rates were remarkably higher in surface sediments and pore waters compared to control and dredged treatments. Furthermore, depletion of DO and accumulation of Fe2+and ∑ H2 S in surface sediments and pore waters provided favorable redox environments and necessary material sources for the blooms. The study results proved that physical and chemical characteristics in surface sediments are important factors in the formation of the black bloom, and could provide scientific guidance for emergency treatment and long-term pre-control of black blooms. | Qiushi Shen Cheng Liu Qilin Zhou Jingge Shang Lei Zhang ChengXin Fan | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,12: | 43
Beyond hypoxia: Occurrence and characteristics of black blooms due to the decomposition of the submerged plant Potamogeton crispus in a shallow lake显示文摘Organic matter-induced black blooms(hypoxia and an offensive odor) are a serious ecosystem disasters that have occurred in some large eutrophic shallow lakes in China. In this study, we investigated two separate black blooms that were induced by Potamogeton crispus in Lake Taihu, China. The main physical and chemical characteristics, including color- and odor-related substances, of the black blooms were analyzed. The black blooms were characterized by low dissolved oxygen concentration(close to 0 mg/L), low oxidation-reduction potential, and relatively low pH of overlying water. Notably higher Fe2+and∑S2-were found in the black-bloom waters than in waters not affected by black blooms. The black color of the water may be attributable to the high concentration of these elements, as black FeS was considered to be the main substance causing the black color of blooms in freshwater lakes. Volatile organic sulfur compounds, including dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and dimethyl trisulfide, were very abundant in the black-bloom waters. The massive anoxic degradation of dead Potamogeton crispus plants released dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and dimethyl trisulfide, which were the main odor-causing compounds in the black blooms. The black blooms also induced an increase in ammonium nitrogen and soluble reactive phosphorus levels in the overlying waters. This extreme phenomenon not only heavily influenced the original lake ecosystem but also greatly changed the cycling of Fe, S, and nutrients in the water column. | Qiushi Shen Qilin Zhou Jingge Shang Shiguang Shao Lei Zhang Chengxin Fan | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,2: | 33
Impact of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the sediment-water interface显示文摘As a diagenetic progress, bioturbation influences solute exchange across the sediment-water interface (SWI). Different benthic animals have various mechanical activities in sediment, thereby they may have different effects on solute exchange across the SWI. This laboratory study examined the impacts of different benthic animals on phosphorus dynamics across the SWI. Tubificid worms and Chironomidae larvae were introduced as model organisms which, based on their mechanical activities, belong to upward-conveyors and gallery-diffusers, respectively. The microcosm simulation study was carried out with a continuous flow culture system, and all sediment, water, and worms and larvae specimens were sampled from Taihu Lake, China. To compare their bioturbation effects, the same biomass (17.1 g wet weight (ww)/m 2 ) was adopted for worms and larvae. Worms altered no oxygen penetration depth in sediment, while larvae increased the O 2 penetration depth, compared to the control treatment. Their emergence also enhanced sediment O 2 uptake. The oxidation of ferrous iron in pore water produced ferric iron oxyhydroxides that adsorbed soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP) from the overlying water and pore water. Larvae built obviously oxidized tubes with about 2 mm diameter and the maximum length of 6 cm in sediment, and significantly decreased ferrous iron and SRP in the pore water compared to the control and worms treatments. Worms constructed no visually-oxidized galleries in the sediment in contrast to larvae, and they did not significantly alter SRP in the pore water relative to the control treatment. The adsorption of ferric iron oxyhydroxides to SRP caused by worms and larvae inhibited SRP release from sediment. Comparatively, worms inhibited more SRP release than larvae based on the same biomass, as they successively renewed the ferric iron oxyhydroxides rich oxidation layer through their deposition. | Lei Zhang Xiaozhi Gu Chengxin Fan Jingge Shang Qiushi Shen Zhaode Wang Ji Shen | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,11: | 14

Streamwise-body-force-model for rapid simulation combining internal and external flow fields显示文摘A streamwise-body-force-model(SBFM) is developed and applied in the overall flow simulation for the distributed propulsion system, combining internal and external flow fields. In view of axial stage effects, fan or compressor effects could be simplified as body forces along the streamline. These body forces which are functions of local parameters could be added as source terms in Navier-Stokes equations to replace solid boundary conditions of blades and hubs. The validation of SBFM with uniform inlet and distortion inlet of compressors shows that pressure performance characteristics agree well with experimental data. A three-dimensional simulation of the integration configuration, via a blended wing body aircraft with a distributed propulsion system using the SBFM, has been completed. Lift coefficient and drag coefficient agree well with wind tunnel test results. Results show that to reach the goal of rapid integrated simulation combining internal and external flow fields, the computational fluid dynamics method based on SBFM is reasonable. | Cui Rong Li Qiushi Pan Tianyu Zhang Jian | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2016,29,5: | 6
Finite Control Set Model Predictive Current Control of a Five-Phase PMSM with Virtual Voltage Vectors and Adaptive Control Set显示文摘This paper presents an improved finite control set model predictive current control(FCS-MPCC)of a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM).First,to avoid including all the 32 voltage vectors provided by a two-level five-phase inverter into the control set, virtual voltage vectors are adopted. As the third current harmonics can be much reduced by virtual voltage vectors automatically, the harmonic items in the cost function of conventional FCS-MPCC are not considered.Furthermore,an adaptive control set is proposed based on voltage prediction.Best control set with proper voltage vector amplitude corresponding to different rotor speed can be achieved by this method.Consequently, current ripples can be largely reduced and the system performs much better. At last, simulations are established to verify the steady and transient performance of the proposed FCS-MPCC,and experiments based on a 2 kW five-phase motor are carried out.The results have validated the performance improvement of the proposed control strategy. | Wusen Wang Ying Fan Siyu Chen Qiushi Zhang | 2018 | CES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems2018,2,1: | 5
Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses reveal that melatonin promotes melon root development under copper stress by inhibiting jasmonic acid biosynthesis显示文摘Melatonin has been shown to alleviate the effects of abiotic stress and to regulate plant development.Copper,a common heavy metal and soil pollutant, can suppress plant growth and development. In this work,we explored the protective effects of exogenous melatonin on lateral root formation in response to copper stress using melon seeds subjected to three germination treatments:CK1(control),CK2(300μmol/L CuSO4),and MT3(300μmol/L melatonin+300μmol/L CuSO4).Melatonin pretreatment increased the antioxidant enzyme activities and root vigor, and decreased the proline and malondialdehyde(MDA)contents in the roots of copper-stressed melon seedlings. We then used transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses to explore the mechanisms by which exogenous melatonin protects against copper stress. There were 70 significant differentially expressed genes(DEGs)(28 upregulated,42 downregulated)and 318 significantly differentially expressed metabolites(DEMs)(168 upregulated,150 downregulated)between the MT3 and CK2 treatments.Melatonin pretreatment altered the expression of genes related to redox and cell wall formation processes. In addition,we found that members of the AP2/ERF,BBR/BPC,GRAS,and HD-ZIP transcription factor families may have vital roles in lateral root development.Melatonin also increased the level of Glutathione(GSH),which chelates excess Cu^(2+).The combined transcriptomic and metabolomic analysis revealed DEGs and DEMs involved in jasmonic acid(JA)biosynthesis, including four lipoxygenase-related genes and two metabolites(linoleic acid and lecithin)related to melatonin’s alleviation effect on copper toxicity. This research elucidated the molecular mechanisms of melatonin’s protective effects in copper-stressed melon. | Zhicheng Hu Qiushi Fu Jing Zheng Aiai Zhang Huaisong Wang | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 4

Animals in the WT and WC groups received 2 μL of the extracellular tracer gadolinium-diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid(Gd-DTPA)injected into the thalamus or caudate nucleus, respectively, and 12 Jing-well points in the distal ends of the rats' digits were used for WPBA. Although 2 μL of Gd-DTPA was injected into the thalamus or caudate nucleus, respectively, for animals in the two sham groups(ST and SC), no acupuncture or bloodletting was performed. Brain extracellular space and interstitial fluid flow parameters were measured using Gd-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging.RESULTS: The brain interstitial fluid flow speed was decreased in the thalamus after WPBA, with a significantly lower Gd-DTPA clearance rate and longer half-life of Gd-DTPA in the thalamus of treated rats than those in sham-control rats [WPBA-treated rats' clearance rate,(7.47 ± 3.15) × 10^(-5)/s(P = 0.009);half-life,(1.52 ± 0.13) h, P = 0.000]. By contrast, no significant changes in brain extracellular space and interstitial fluid flow parameters were detected in the caudate nucleus after WPBA(P = 0.649). In addition, no differences in the morphology of the brain extracellular space or the final distribution of the traced brain interstitial fluid were demonstrated between the WT and WC groups(P = 0.631, P = 0.970,respectively).CONCLUSION: The WPBA decreased the speed of the local thalamic ISF flow in rats, which is assumed to be a beneficial protection by down-modulated the metabolic rate of the attacked neurons under stroke. | FuYu LiYuliang GuoJia Liu Bin Liu Huipo Zhang Weibo Sun Wanli GaoYajuan Ren Qiushi Han Haojun | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,1: | 3 |

Impact point prediction guidance based on iterative process for dual-spin projectile with fixed canards显示文摘The fixed canards configuration of a dual-spin projectile makes it difficult to apply the traditional guidance law. In this study, a modified impact point prediction guidance strategy based on an iterative process was developed for a class of dual-spin projectiles with fixed canards, to reduce the impact point dispersion. The guidance strategy is dependent on the modified projectile linear theory to rapidly predict the flight states and the impact point. For projectiles with control applied to the trajectory, the modified projectile linear theory method is known to achieve poor impact point prediction. To improve the prediction accuracy, improvements were made to the modified projectile linear theory by considering the products of the yaw rate and other small quantities. The guidance strategy is based on the iterative process for the continuous adjustment of the expected output of the roll angle of the course correction fuze, to minimize the direction error between the predicted impact point and target location. Studies were conducted on a model dual-spin projectile configuration to demonstrate the guidance details. The numerical simulations indicate that the proposed guidance strategy can effectively reduce the projectile impact point dispersion. | Xin ZHANG Xiaoxian YAO Qiushi ZHENG | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2019,32,8: | 3
The calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II inhibitor KN-93 protects rat cerebral cortical neurons from N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-induced injury显示文摘In this study, primary cultured cerebral cortical neurons of Sprague-Dawley neonatal rats were treated with 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 μM calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II inhibitor KN-93 after 50 μM N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-induced injury. Results showed that, compared with N-methyl-D-aspartic acid-induced injury neurons, the activity of cells markedly increased, apoptosis was significantly reduced, leakage of lactate dehydrogenase decreased, and intracellular Ca(2+) concentrations in neurons reduced after KN-93 treatment. The expression of caspase-3, phosphorylated calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II and total calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II protein decreased after KN-93 treatment. And the effect was apparent at a dose of 1.0 μM KN-93. Experimental findings suggest that KN-93 can induce a dose-dependent neuroprotective effect, and that the underlying mechanism may be related to the down-regulation of caspase-3 and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II expression. | Xuewen Liu Cui Ma Ruixian Xing Weiwei Zhang Buxian Tian Xidong Li Qiushi Li Yanhui Zhang | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,2: | 3
Hysteresis behaviors of compressor rotating stall with cusp catastrophic model显示文摘Rotating stall is a complex nonlinear dynamic phenomenon which is always characterized by catastrophe and hysteresis in high aerodynamic-loading compressor. Exploring the key contributing factors and characteristic rules of hysteresis is very important for compressor design and flow instability control. In this paper, a novel model method is proposed to analyze the hysteresis behaviors to extend the understanding of compressor rotating stall. The equilibrium states of compressor system under different conditions are first described based on Moore-Greitzer model. Then, through assessing the stability of the equilibrium points by Liapunov's theorem, the ratio of shutoff head to compressor characteristic semi-height is found to affect the stall hysteresis: the size of hysteresis loop will gradually decrease, even disappear with the increase of the ratio. Combing the effects of both the ratio and throttle coefficient, the hysteresis behaviors of compressor stall under multi-parameters can be found to be consistent with the topological properties of cusp catastrophic model by Thom's catastrophe theory. Finally, according to topological invariant rules, from the perspective of potential function, the equilibrium surface equation of compressor system is developed by standard cusp catastrophic model to describe the various hysteresis behaviors of compressor rotating stall along different control routes. | Zhiping LI Peng ZHANG Tianyu PAN Qiushi LI Jian ZHANG | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2018,31,5: | 3
Transcriptome profiling of Cucumis melo fruit development and ripening显示文摘Hami melon(Cucumis melo)is the most important melon crop grown in the north-western provinces of China. In order to elucidate the genetic and molecular basis of developmental changes related to size, flesh, sugar and sour content,we performed a transcriptome profiling of its fruit development.Over 155000000 clean reads were mapped to MELONOMICS genome, yielding a total of 23299 expressed genes.Of these,554 genes were specifically expressed in flowers, and 3260 genes in fruit flesh tissues. The 7892 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were related to fruit development and mediated diverse metabolic processes and pathways;83 DEGs and 13 DEGs were possibly associated with sucrose and citric acid accumulation, respectively. The quantitative real-time PCR results showed that six out of eight selected candidate genes displayed expression trends similar to our DEGs.This study profiled the gene expression related to different growing stages of flower and fruit at the whole transcriptome level to provide an insight into the regulatory mechanism underlying Hami melon fruit development. | Hong Zhang Huaisong Wang Hongping Yi Wenqiang Zhai Guangzhi Wang Qiushi Fu | 2016 | Horticulture Research2016,3,1: | 2
Porous tantalum-composited gelatin nanoparticles hydrogel integrated with mesenchymal stem cell-derived endothelial cells to construct vascularized tissue in vivo显示文摘The ideal scaffold material of angiogenesis should have mechanical strength and provide appropriate physiological microporous structures to mimic the extracellular matrix environment. In this study,we constructed an integrated three-dimensional scaffold material using porous tantalum(pTa),gelatin nanoparticles(GNPs)hydrogel, and seeded with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)-derived endothelial cells(ECs)for vascular tissue engineering. The characteristics and biocompatibility of pTa and GNPs hydrogel were evaluated by mechanical testing, scanning electron microscopy, cell counting kit,and live-cell assay. The BMSCs-derived ECs were identified by flow cytometry and angiogenesis assay.BMSCs-derived ECs were seeded on the pTa-GNPs hydrogel scaffold and implanted subcutaneously in nude mice.Four weeks after the operation, the scaffold material was evaluated by histomorphology. The superior biocompatible ability of pTa-GNPs hydrogel scaffold was observed. Our in vivo results suggested that 28 days after implantation, the formation of the stable capillary-like network in scaffold material could be promoted significantly. The novel, integrated pTa-GNPs hydrogel scaffold is biocompatible with the host, and exhibits biomechanical and angiogenic properties. Moreover, combined with BMSCs-derived ECs,it could construct vascular engineered tissue in vivo. This study may provide a basis for applying pTa in bone regeneration and autologous BMSCs in tissue-engineered vascular grafts. | Zhenhua Zhao Mang Wang Fei Shao Ge Liu Junlei Li Xiaowei Wei Xiuzhi Zhang Jiahui Yang Fang Cao Qiushi Wang Huanan Wang Dewei Zhao | 2021 | Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,6: | 2
Microfluidic adhesion analysis of single glioma cells for evaluating the effect of drugs显示文摘Cancer metastasis is one of the most serious problems for tumor therapy, which is closely related to cell adhesion and deadhesion process.Better comprehension of cell adhesion ability will benefit drug research. Here,a biomimetic microfluidic enzyme digestion method was proposed to gently measure the influence of drugs on cell-matrix adhesion ability at the single cell level. The method can selectively digest the extracellular matrix(ECM)that linked to a single cell, and the trypsin concentration around the cell is relatively uniform and constant, thus the measured cell adhesion strength should be precise.Commercially available anti-cancer agents including 5-fluorouracil(5-FU),actinomycin D(Act D),temozolomide(TMZ)and allicin were evaluated, and the data showed only TMZ and allicin can inhibit cell adhesion significantly under our experiment conditions. The influence of TMZ became more and more obvious as the increase of duration and the effect became prominent only after 6 h adhesion process, which could provide a quick evaluation of whether the drugs are effective to cancer cell(compared with Calcein-AM/PI cell viability test). The adhesion strength of U87 cells decreased when the concentration of TMZ increased, and the effect of TMZ can be effectively inhibited by adding lactic acid to culture medium, which indicated acidic tumor microenvironment could promote drug resistance of tumor cells.Different from conventional evaluation methods which focus on the drugs’influence on cellular viability or metabolism, this work provides a new perspective to study the effect of drugs, which is helpful to enrich the drug evaluation system. | Qiang Zhang Sifeng Mao Weiwei Li Qiushi Huang Shuo Feng Zhanying Hong Jin-Ming Lin | 2020 | Science China Chemistry2020,63,6: | 1
