1Efficient one-pot synthesis of n-butyl levulinate from carbohydrates catalyzed by Fe_2(SO_4)_3显示文摘Butyl levulinate(BL) is a promising new candidate as diesel fuel and fuel additive. In this study, an efficient process for a one-pot synthesis of BL from biomass-derived carbohydrates in butanol medium with the catalysis of metal sulfates was developed. The catalytic activity of a series of metal sulfates for the synthesis of BL from fructose was investigated. Among various metal sulfates, ferric sulfate Fe_2(SO_4)_3 was found to be the most efficient catalyst, which gave a remarkably high BL yield of 62.8 mol% under the conditions of 463 K, 3 h, a catalyst dosage of 5.0 g/L, and fructose concentration of 25 g/L. Different carbohydrates including glucose, cellulose, inulin and sucrose were also used for one-pot synthesis of BL with the catalysis of Fe_2(SO_4)_3, showing the yields of 39.6, 30.5, 56.6 and 50.1 mol%, respectively. In addition,the recycling and reuse of Fe_2(SO_4)_3 was studied by characterizing them using powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). A plausible reaction pathway for the one-pot synthesis of BL from fructose was proposed. 2Recent Advances of Persistent Luminescence Nanoparticles in Bioapplications显示文摘Persistent luminescence phosphors are a novel group of promising luminescent materials with afterglow properties after the stoppage of excitation.In the past decade,persistent luminescence nanoparticles(PLNPs)with intriguing optical properties have attracted a wide range of attention in various areas.Especially in recent years,the development and applications in biomedical fields have been widely explored.Owing to the efficient elimination of the autofluorescence interferences from biotissues and the ultra-long near-infrared afterglow emission,many researches have focused on the manipulation of PLNPs in biosensing,cell tracking,bioimaging and cancer therapy.These achievements stimulated the growing interest in designing new types of PLNPs with desired superior characteristics and multiple functions.In this review,we summarize the works on synthesis methods,bioapplications,biomembrane modification and biosafety of PLNPs and highlight the recent advances in biosensing,imaging and imaging-guided therapy.We further discuss the new types of PLNPs as a newly emerged class of functional biomaterials for multiple applications.Finally,the remaining problems and challenges are discussed with suggestions and prospects for potential future directions in the biomedical applications.Shuqi Wu Yang Li Weihang Ding Letong Xu Yuan Ma Lianbing Zhang 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,6:8
3Control mechanism and technique of floor heave with reinforcing solid coal side and floor corner in gob-side coal entry retaining显示文摘Floor heave is the most common convergence in gob-side entry retaining.The paper analyzes the form,process and characteristics of gob-side entry retaining with the comprehensive methods of theoretical analysis,numerical simulation and the field trial.Research results present that bending and folding floor heave is the main factor in the stage of the first panel mining;squeezing and fluidity floor heave plays a great role in the stable stage of gob-side entry retaining;the combination of the former two factors affects mainly the stage of the second mining ahead;abutment pressure is a fundamental contribution to the serious floor heave of gob-side entry retaining,and sides corners of solid coal body are key part in the case of floor heave controlling of gob-side entry retaining.Floor heave of gob-side entry retaining can be significantly controlled by reinforcing sides and corners of solid coal body,and influence rules on the floor heave of gob side entry retaining of sides supporting strength and the bottom bolt orientation in solid coal side are obtained.Research results have been successfully applied in gob-side entry retaining of G20-F23070 face haulage roadway in #2 coal mine of Pingmei Group,and the field observation shows that the proposed technique is an effective way in controlling the floor heave of gob-side entry retaining.Chen Yong Bai Jianbiao Yan Shuai Xu Ying Wang Xiangyu Ma Shuqi 2012International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2012,22,6:6
4Naringenin is a Potential Immunomodulator for Inhibiting Liver Fibrosis by Inhibiting the cGAS-STING Pathway显示文摘Background and Aims:Naringenin is an anti-inflammatory flavonoid that has been studied in chronic liver disease.The mechanism specific to its antifibrosis activity needs further investigation This study was to focused on the cyclic guanosine monophosphate-adenosine monophosphate synthase(cGAS)pathway in hepatic stellate cells and clarified the antifibrosis mechanism of naringenin.Methods:The relationship between the cGAS-stimulator of interferon genes(STING)pathway and liver fibrosis was analyzed using the Gene Expression Omnibus database.Histopathology,immunohistochemistry,fluorescence staining,Western blotting and polymerase chain reaction were performed to assess gene and protein expression levels associated with the cGAS pathway in clinical liver tissue samples and mouse livers.Molecular docking was performed to evaluate the relationship between naringenin and cGAS,and western blotting was performed to study the expression of inflammatory factors downstream of cGAS in vitro.Results:Clinical database analyses showed that the cGAS-STING pathway is involved in the occurrence of chronic liver disease.Naringenin ameliorated liver injury and liver fibrosis,decreased collagen deposition and cGAS expression,and inhibited inflammation in carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)-treated mice.Molecular docking found that cGAS may be a direct target of naringenin.Consistent with the in vivo results,we verified the inhibitory effect of naringenin on activated hepatic stellate cells(HSCs).By using the cGAS-specific agonist double-stranded(ds)DNA,we showed that naringenin attenuated the activation of cGAS and its inflammatory factors affected by dsDNA.We verified that naringenin inhibited the cGAS-STING pathway,thereby reducing the secretion of inflammatory factors by HSCs to ameliorate liver fibrosis.Conclusions:Interrupting the cGAS-STING pathway helped reverse the fibrosis process.Naringenin has potential as an antihepatic fibrosis drug.Li Chen Siwei Xia Shuqi Wang Yuanyuan Zhou Feixia Wang Zhanghao Li Yang Li Desong Kong Zili Zhang Jiangjuan Shao Xuefen Xu Feng Zhang Shizhong Zheng 2023Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1:3
5Changes of visceral properties and digestive enzymes in the herbivorous marine teleost Siganus canaliculatus fed on different diets显示文摘The rabbitfish Siganus canaliculatus is one of the few cultured herbivorous marine teleosts. To better understand the digestive physiology of this fish and provide data for designing formulated feed using macroalgae as an ingredient, the changes of visceral properties and digestive enzyme activities were investigated after the juveniles were fed on different types of food including raw fish(RF), formulated diet(FD) or macroalgae Enteromorpha prolifra(EP) and Gracilaria lemaneiformis(GL) for eight weeks. The results showed that the hepatosomatic and viscerosomatic indices in the RF and FD groups, as well as the relative intestine length(RIL) in the EP and GL groups, were significantly higher than those in other groups. Additionally, differences in the histological structure of the liver and anterior intestine were also observed among different dietary groups. The hepatic nuclei were displaced to the periphery by lipid inclusions in fish fed RF. The highest levels of mucosal folds were found in the anterior intestines of fish fed macroalgae. Digestive enzyme activity profiles showed obvious fluctuations in the first three weeks, and then leveled off in the following weeks. The levels of protease, lipase and α-amylase in the alimentary tract showed changes related to the levels of dietary protein, lipid and carbohydrate, respectively.Although macroalgae significantly inhibited the activity of protease in the stomach, it increased RIL and the number of mucosal folds in the anterior intestine so as to compensate for the influences on protease activities in the stomach. 8Effects of phenanthrene on hepatic enzymatic activities in tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus ♀×O.aureus ♂)显示文摘The effects of phenanthrene(Phe) on hepatosomatic index(HSI) and hepatic enzymatic activities in hybrid tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus ♀× O.aureus ♂) were investigated via the static freshwater exposure at dosage of 50,100,and 400 μg/L for 4-14 d.Compared with the control group,HSI was significantly decreased(P < 0.05) at 400 μg/L at day 14.Increased enzymatic activities(P < 0.05) were observed for catalase(CAT),glutathione peroxidase(GPx) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) at either 100 or 400 μg/L at day 8 and 14,as well as for CAT at 50 μg/L at day 14,except for GPx at 400 μg/L at day 8.Ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase(EROD) activity was significantly increased(P < 0.05) at all dosage at day 4 as well as at 50 μg/L at day 8,but significantly decreased at either 100 or 400 μg/L at day 14(P < 0.05).Glutathione-S-transferase(GST) activity was not affected.The results suggest that CAT,GPx,SOD and EROD,as well as HSI in tilapia may be used as the biomarkers or indexes for evaluating or monitoring the pollution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) such as Phe.XU Wenju LI Yuanyou WU Qingyang WANG Shuqi ZHENG Huaiping LIU Wenhua 2009Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,6:1

10In situ synthesis of biomass-derived Ni/C catalyst by self-reduction for the hydrogenation of levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone显示文摘Herein,we reported in situ synthesis of biomass-derived Ni/C catalyst by self-reduction with pomelo peel.Compared with the conventional method, which includes carbonization, activation, impregnation and reduction, the entire preparation process was simplified to two steps, which was more straightforward. This synthesis method was green as Ni/C can be prepared without any additional chemical and the self-reduction process was realized in N2, which can avoid using H2 thus averting some problems such as storage, transportation and safety of H2. 11Expression of heat-resistant β-glucosidase in Escherichia coli and its application in the production of gardenia blue显示文摘Gardenia blue is a natural blue pigment that is environmentally friendly,non-toxic,and stable.The hydrolysis of geniposide,catalyzed byβ-glucosidase,is a critical step in the production process of gardenia blue.However,β-glucosidase is not resistant to high temperatures,limiting the production of gardenia blue.In this study,we investigated the effectiveness of a heat-resistant glucosidase obtained from Thermotoga maritima in the production of gardenia blue.The enzyme exhibited a maximum activity of 10.60 U/mL at 90℃.Single-factor and orthogonal analyses showed that exogenously expressed heat-resistant glucosidase reacted with 470.3μg/mL geniposide and 13.5μg/mL glycine at 94.2℃,producing a maximum yield of 26.2857μg/mL of gardenia blue after 156.6 min.When applied to the dyeing of denim,gardenia blue produced by this method yielded excellent results;the best color-fastness was achieved when an iron ion mordant was used.This study revealed the feasibility and application potential of microbial production of gardenia blue.Wenxi Li Jielin Li Ying Xu Yan Huang Shuqi Xu Zirui Ou Xiaoli Long Xinyu Li Xinyu Liu Zening Xiao Jiaqi Huang Weizhao Chen 2021Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,3:1
12Profile and determinants of delayed care-seeking and diagnosis among patients with imported malaria: a retrospective study in China, 2014–2021显示文摘Background: In areas where malaria has been eliminated, delayed care-seeking and diagnosis of imported malaria are constant threats. This study aimed to describe the profile and determinants of delayed care-seeking and diagnosis among patients with imported malaria in China.Methods: This retrospective study assessed surveillance data obtained from 2014 to 2021 in the Chinese provincial-level administrative divisions (PLADs) of Anhui, Henan, Hubei, and Zhejiang, and Guangxi. Epidemiological characteristics were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Furthermore, factors associated with delayed care-seeking and diagnosis among imported malaria cases were identified using multivariate logistic regression.Results: Overall, 11.81% and 30.08% of imported malaria cases had delays in seeking care and diagnosis, respectively. During the study period, there was a decreasing trend in the proportion of imported malaria cases with delayed care-seeking (χ^(2) = 36.099,P < 0.001) and diagnosis (χ^(2) = 11.395,P = 0.001). In multivariate analysis, independent risk factors associated with delayed care-seeking include PLADs (Guangxi as reference), consultations in high-level facilities for the first medical visit, infections with non-Plasmodium falciparum species, and older age. However, PLADs (Guangxi as reference), the purpose of traveling (labour as reference), and infections with non-P. falciparum species increased the risk of delayed diagnosis. Delayed care-seeking (adjusted odds ratio: 1.79,P = 0.001) and diagnosis (adjusted odds ratio: 1.62,P = 0.004) were risk factors for severe disease development.Conclusions: Based on this study’s findings, we strongly advocate for improved access to quality healthcare to reduce the rate of misdiagnosis at the first visit. Infections caused by non-P. falciparum species should be highlighted, and more sensitive and specific point-of-care detection methods for non-P. falciparum species should be developed and implemented. In addition, education programs should be enhanced to reach target populations at risk of malaria infection. 14Identification of African swine fever virus MGF505-2R as a potent inhibitor of innate immunity in vitro显示文摘African swine fever(ASF)is etiologically an acute,highly contagious and hemorrhagic disease caused by African swine fever virus(ASFV).Due to its genetic variation and phenotypic diversity,until now,no efficient commercial vaccines or therapeutic options are available.The ASFV genome contains a conserved middle region and two flexible ends that code for five multigene families(MGFs),while the biological functions of the MGFs are not fully characterized.Here,ASFV MGF505-2R-deficient mutant ASFV-Δ2R was constructed based on a highly virulent genotype II field isolate ASFV CN/GS/2018 currently circulating in China.Transcriptomic profiling demonstrated that ASFV-Δ2R was capable of inducing a larger number of differentially expressed genes(DEGs)compared with ASFV CN/GS/2018.Hierarchical clustering of up-regulated DEGs revealed that ASFV-Δ2R induced the most dramatic expression of interferon-related genes and inflammatory and innate immune genes,as further validated by RT-qPCR.The GO and KEGG pathway analysis identified significantly enriched pathways involved in pathogen recognition and innate antiviral immunity.Conversely,pharmacological activation of those antiviral immune responses by exogenous cytokines,including type I/II IFNs,TNF-αand IL-1β,exerted combinatory effects and synergized in antiviral capacity against ASFV replication.Collectively,MGF505-2R is a newly identified inhibitor of innate immunity potentially implicated in immune evasion.Huaguo Huang Wen Dang Zhengwang Shi Mingyang Ding Fan Xu Tao Li Tao Feng Haixue Zheng Shuqi Xiao 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,1:0
15Insights into the architecture of human-induced polygenic selection in Duroc pigs显示文摘Background:As one of the most utilized commercial composite boar lines,Duroc pigs have been introduced to China and undergone strongly human-induced selection over the past decades.However,the efficiencies and limitations of previous breeding of Chinese Duroc pigs are largely understudied.The objective of this study was to uncover directional polygenic selection in the Duroc pig genome,and investigate points overlooked in the past breeding process.Results:Here,we utilized the Generation Proxy Selection Mapping(GPSM)on a dataset of 1067 Duroc pigs with 8,766,074 imputed SNPs.GPSM detected a total of 5649 putative SNPs actively under selection in the Chinese Duroc pig population,and the potential functions of the selection regions were mainly related to production,meat and carcass traits.Meanwhile,we observed that the allele frequency of variants related to teat number(NT)relevant traits was also changed,which might be influenced by genes that had pleiotropic effects.First,we identified the direction of selection on NT traits by G,and further pinpointed large-effect genomic regions associated with NT relevant traits by selection signature and GWAS.Combining results of NT relevant traits-specific selection signatures and GWAS,we found three common genome regions,which were overlapped with QTLs related to production,meat and carcass traits besides“teat number”QTLs.This implied that there were some pleiotropic variants underlying NT and economic traits.We further found that rs346331089 has pleiotropic effects on NT and economic traits,e.g.,litter size at weaning(LSW),litter weight at weaning(LWW),days to 100 kg(D100),backfat thickness at 100 kg(B100),and loin muscle area at 100 kg(L100)traits.Conclusions:The selected loci that we identified across methods displayed the past breeding process of Chinese Duroc pigs,and our findings could be used to inform future breeding decision.Zitao Chen Jinyan Teng Shuqi Diao Zhiting Xu Shaopan Ye Dingjie Qiu Zhe Zhang Yuchun Pan Jiaqi Li Qin Zhang Zhe Zhang 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,1:0
16Potassium thiocyanate additive for PEDOT:PSS layer to fabricate efficient tin-based perovskite solar cells显示文摘The commercialized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)is usually used as hole transport layers(HTLs)in tin-based perovskite solar cells(TPSCs).However,the further development has been restricted due to the acidity that could damage the stability of TPSCs.Although the PEDOT:PSS solution can be diluted by water to decrease acidity and reduce the cost of device fabrication,the electrical conductivity will decrease obviously in diluted PEDOT:PSS solution.Herein,potassium thiocyanate(KSCN)is selected to regulate the properties of PEDOT:PSS HTLs from the diluted PEDOT:PSS aqueous solution by water with a volume ratio of 1:1 to prepare efficient TPSCs.The effect of KSCN addition on the structure and photoelectrical properties of PEDOT:PSS HTLs and TPSCs have been systematically studied.At the optimal KSCN concentration,the TPSCs based on KSCN-doped PEDOT:PSS HTLs(KSCN-PSCs)demonstrate the champion power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 8.39%,while the reference TPSCs only show a champioan PCE of 6.70%.The further analysis demonstrates that the KSCN additive increases the electrical conductivity of HTLs prepared by the diluted PEDOT:PSS solution,improves the microstructure of perovskite film,and inhibits carrier recombination in TPSCs,leading to the reduced hysteresis effect and enhanced PCE in KSCN-PSCs.This work gives a low-cost and practical strategy to develop a high-quality PEDOT:PSS HTLs from diluted PEDOT:PSS aqueous solution for efficient TPSCs.Xu Zhao Shoudeng Zhong Shuqi Wang Shaozhen Li Sujuan Wu 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,12:0
17Development of digital organ-on-a-chip to assess hepatotoxicity and extracellular vesicle-based anti-liver cancer immunotherapy显示文摘Organ-on-a-chip systems have been increasingly recognized as attractive platforms to assess toxicity and to develop new therapeutic agents.However,current organ-on-a-chip platforms are limited by a“single pot”design,which inevitably requires holistic analysis and limits parallel processing.Here,we developed a digital organ-on-a-chip by combining a microwell array with cellular microspheres,which significantly increased the parallelism over traditional organ-on-a-chip for drug development.Up to 127 uniform liver cancer microspheres in this digital organ-on-a-chip format served as individual analytical units,allowing for analysis with high consistency and quick response.Our platform displayed evident anti-cancer efficacy at a concentration of 10μM for sorafenib,and had greater alignment than the“single pot”organ-on-a-chip with a previous in vivo study.In addition,this digital organ-on-a-chip demonstrated the treatment efficacy of natural killer cell-derived extracellular vesicles for liver cancer at 50μg/mL.The successful development of this digital organ-on-a-chip platform provides high-parallelism and a low-variability analytical tool for toxicity assessment and the exploration of new anticancer modalities,thereby accelerating the joint endeavor to combat cancer.Guohua Wu Jianguo Wu Zihan Li Shengyu Shi Di Wu Xuanbo Wang Han Xu Hui Liu Yixiao Huang Rending Wang Jia Shen Zhihong Dong Shuqi Wang 2022Bio-Design and Manufacturing2022,5,3:0

20ADVANCES IN EXPERIMENTAL APPROACHES FOR INVESTIGATING CELL AGGREGATE MECHANICS显示文摘Cells tend to form hierarchy structures in native tissues.Formation of cell aggregates in vitro such as cancer spheroids and embryonic bodies provides a unique means to study the mechanical properties and biological behaviors/functions of their counterparts in vivo.In this paper,we review state-of-the-art experimental approaches to assess the mechanical properties and mechanically-induced responses of cell aggregates in vitro.These approaches are classified into five categories according to loading modality,including micropipette aspiration,centrifugation,compression loading,substrate distention,and fluid shear loading.We discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each approach,and the potential biomedical applications.Understanding of the mechanical behavior of cell aggregates provides insights to physical interactions between cells and integrity of biological functions,which may enable mechanical intervention for diseases such as atheromatosis and cancer.Wenjun Zhang Shuqi Wang Min Lin Yulong Hail Guiping Zhao Tian Jian Lu Feng Xu 2012Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2012,25,5:0
