| 1 | Preparation and CO2 adsorption properties of porous carbon by hydrothermal carbonization of tree leaves显示文摘Porous carbon materials were prepared by hydrothermal carbonization(HTC) and KOH activation of camphor leaves and camellia leaves. The morphology, pore structure, chemical properties and CO2 capture ability of the porous carbon prepared from the two leaves were compared. The effect of HTC temperature on the structure and CO2 adsorption properties was especially investigated. It was found that HTC temperature had a major effect on the structure of the product and the ability to capture CO2. The porous carbon materials prepared from camellia leaves at the HTC temperature of 240℃ had the highest proportion of microporous structure, the largest specific surface area(up to 1823.77m^2/g) and the maximum CO2 adsorption capacity of 8.30mmol/g at 25℃ under 0.4 MPa. For all prepared porous carbons, simulation results of isothermal adsorption model showed that Langmuir isotherm model described the adsorption equilibrium data better than Freundlich isotherm model. For porous carbons prepared from camphor leaves, pseudo-first order kinetic model was well fitted with the experimental data. However,for porous carbons prepared from camellia leaves, both pseudo-first and pseudo-second order kinetics model adsorption behaviors were present. | 2 | Lignin biosynthesis by suppression of two O-methyl-transferases显示文摘Caffeic acid O-methyltransferase (COMT) and caffeoyl-CoA-3-O-methyltransferase (CCoAOMT) genes encode two methyltransferases at different substrate levels in lignin biosynthesis. We constructed two single antisense expression vectors containing the cDNA of COMT or CCoAOMT genes and one dual antisense expression vector containing cDNAs of both OMTs genes. The antisense constructs were transferred into tobacco mediated by Agrobac-terium tumefacience. PCR-Southern analysis indicated that antisense cDNAs had been integrated into the genome of the transgenic tobacco. The antisense genes were also expressed at transcriptional level displayed by Northern dot analysis. Klason lignin assay of 3-month-old transgenic tobaccos showed that repression in COMT or CCoAOMT alone could result in reduction of lignin content, more reduction was caused by suppression in CCoAOMT than in COMT. | 3 | Ectomycorrhizal fungus enhances drought tolerance of Pinus sylvestris var.mongolica seedlings and improves soil condition显示文摘Mongolian pine is an important afforestation species widely used for ecological management in northeast China. The environment in this region is very unstable and the flora are regularly subjected to drought stress.This paper reports on the influence of inoculation with the Suillus luteus on seedlings under different water conditions.Both inoculated and non-inoculated ectomycorrhizal fungi(ECMF)-S. luteus seedlings were maintained under wellwatered or water-stress conditions for 3 months. The S.luteus colonization rate under water stress was higher than that in well-watered conditions. Under water stress, inoculated seedlings had greater growth than non-inoculated seedlings. In addition, under water stress, S. luteus-inoculated seedlings had greater superoxide dismutase and peroxidase activity, higher soluble protein content, lower proline content, and lower malondialdehyde content than non-inoculated seedlings. S. luteus colonization increased the rhizosphere soil-enzyme activity and the rhizosphere soil nutrition content under both well-watered and water-stress conditions. | 5 | Whole Genome Analyses of Chinese Population and De Novo Assembly of A Northern Han Genome显示文摘To unravel the genetic mechanisms of disease and physiological traits,it requires comprehensive sequencing analysis of large sample size in Chinese populations.Here,we report the primary results of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Precision Medicine Initiative(CASPMI)project launched by the Chinese Academy of Sciences,including the de novo assembly of a northern Han reference genome(NH1.0)and whole genome analyses of 597 healthy people coming from most areas in China.Given the two existing reference genomes for Han Chinese(YH and HX1)were both from the south,we constructed NH1.0,a new reference genome from a northern individual,by combining the sequencing strategies of PacBio,10×Genomics,and Bionano mapping.Using this integrated approach,we obtained an N50 scaffold size of 46.63 Mb for the NH1.0 genome and performed a comparative genome analysis of NH1.0 with YH and HX1.In order to generate a genomic variation map of Chinese populations,we performed the whole-genome sequencing of 597 participants and identified 24.85 million(M)single nucleotide variants(SNVs),3.85 M small indels,and 106,382 structural variations.In the association analysis with collected phenotypes,we found that the T allele of rs1549293 in KAT8 significantly correlated with the waist circumference in northern Han males.Moreover,significant genetic diversity in MTHFR,TCN2,FADS1,and FADS2,which associate with circulating folate,vitamin B12,or lipid metabolism,was observed between northerners and southerners.Especially,for the homocysteine-increasing allele of rs1801133(MTHFR 677T),we hypothesize that there exists a “comfort”zone for a high frequency of 677T between latitudes of 35–45 degree North.Taken together,our results provide a high-quality northern Han reference genome and novel population-specific data sets of genetic variants for use in the personalized and precision medicine. | Zhenglin Du Liang Ma Hongzhu Qu Wei Chen Bing Zhang Xi Lu Weibo Zhai Xin Sheng Yongqiao Sun Wenjie Li Meng Lei Qiuhui Qi Na Yuan Shuo Shi Jingyao Zeng Jinyue Wang Yadong Yang Qi Liu Yaqiang Hong Lili Dong Zhewen Zhang Dong Zou Yanqing Wang Shuhui Song Fan Liu Xiangdong Fang Hua Chen Xin Liu Jingfa Xiao Changqing Zeng | 2019 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2019,17,3: | 4 |

| 8 | A hybrid genipin-crosslinked dual-sensitive hydrogel/nanostructured lipid carrier ocular drug delivery platform显示文摘The objective of this study was to develop a novel hybrid genipin-crosslinked dual-sensitive hydrogel/nanostructured lipid carrier(NLC) drug delivery platform. An ophthalmic antiinflammatory drug, baicalin(BN) was chosen as the model drug. BN –NLC was prepared using melt-emulsification combined with ultra-sonication technique. Additionally, a dual pH-and thermo-sensitive hydrogel composed of carboxymethyl chitosan(CMCS) and poloxamer 407(F127) was fabricated by a cross-linking reaction with a nontoxic crosslinker genipin(GP). GP-CMCS/F127 hydrogel was characterized by FTIR, NMR, XRD and SEM. The swelling studies showed GP-CMCS/F127 hydrogel was both pH-and thermo-sensitive. The results of in vitro release suggested BN –NLC gel can prolong the release of baicalin comparing with BN eye drops and BN –NLC. Ex vivo cornea permeation study was evaluated using Franz diffusion cells. The apparent permeability coefficient(Papp) of BN –NLC gel was much higher(4.46-fold) than that of BN eye drops. Through the determination of corneal hydration levels, BN –NLC gel was confirmed that had no significant irritation to cornea. Ex vivo precorneal retention experiments were carried out by a flow-through approach. The results indicated that the NLC-based hydrogel can prolong precorneal residence time. | 9 | Low intensity near-infrared light promotes bone regeneration via circadian clock protein cryptochrome 1显示文摘Bone regeneration remains a great clinical challenge. Low intensity near-infrared(NIR) light showed strong potential to promote tissue regeneration, offering a promising strategy for bone defect regeneration. However, the effect and underlying mechanism of NIR on bone regeneration remain unclear. We demonstrated that bone regeneration in the rat skull defect model was significantly accelerated with low-intensity NIR stimulation. In vitro studies showed that NIR stimulation could promote the osteoblast differentiation in bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) and MC3T3-E1 cells, which was associated with increased ubiquitination of the core circadian clock protein Cryptochrome 1(CRY1) in the nucleus. We found that the reduction of CRY1 induced by NIR light activated the bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) signaling pathways, promoting SMAD1/5/9 phosphorylation and increasing the expression levels of Runx2 and Osterix. NIR light treatment may act through sodium voltage-gated channel Scn4a, which may be a potential responder of NIR light to accelerate bone regeneration. | 12 | Rationalizing the impact of oxygen vacancy on polysulfide conversion kinetics for highly efficient lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘The“shuttle effect”of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)is a huge challenge for practical use of high-energydensity lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries,and one of the main reasons is the sluggish kinetics of sulfur conversion.Metal oxides are able to expedite the sulfur electrochemistry,and the structural defects enhance the adsorption-conversion ability of metal oxides for polysulfides.However,a significant research gap still remains regarding the relationship between the oxygen vacancy concentration and the adsorptivecatalytic performance of metal oxides.Herein,we establish a correlation between oxygen vacancy concentration and adsorptive-catalytic properties by using tungsten oxide(WO_(x))as model catalysts.It is revealed that high-concentration oxygen vacancy is beneficial for enhancing the binding between tungsten oxide and LiPSs,reducing the energy barrier of Li_(2)S decomposition,and promoting polysulfide conversion kinetics.Consequently,the Li-S batteries using the tungsten oxide with high-concentration oxygen vacancies deliver high initial discharge capacity of 1169 mA h g^(-1)at 0.2 C and 865 mA h g^(-1)at 2 C,low attenuation rate of 0.064%per cycle over 1100 cycles at 2 C.With a high sulfur area loading of 5.34 mg cm^(-2),the Li-S batteries still exhibit high initial gravimetric capacity of 982 mA h g^(-1)at 0.1 C and areal capacity of 5.92 mA h cm^(-2).This work promotes the feasibility of defect engineering on metal oxides as an effective mean to enhance the practicality of Li-S batteries. | Ya Song Huan Li Junfeng Li Jinyu An Jiao-Jing Shao Guangmin Zhou | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,12: | 1 |

| 14 | Effects of an ectomycorrhizal fungus on the growth and physiology of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica seedlings subjected to saline-alkali stress显示文摘This research investigates the mechanism of increased salinity tolerance of ectomycorrhizal fungiinoculated P. sylvestris var. mongolica to provide a theoretical basis for the application of the fungus in saline soils.Growth effects due to inoculation of seedlings with Suillus luteus(a symbiotic ectomycorrhizal fungus), were determined in four kinds of saline–alkali soils. Growth and physiological indicators, including photosynthetic characteristics, plant height, biomass, photosynthetic pigments,catalase(CAT) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) enzyme levels, and malondialdehyde(MDA), an organic marker for oxidative stress, and soluble protein levels were determined. Mycorrhizal colonization rate decreased with increasing saline–alkalinity and growth of inoculated seedlings was significantly enhanced. Biomass and chlorophyll contents also increased significantly. SOD and CAT activities were higher than in non-inoculated seedlings. However, MDA content decreased in inoculatedseedlings. Soluble protein content did not increase significantly. Inoculation with a symbiotic ectomycorrhizal fungus could enhance the saline–alkali tolerance of P. sylvestris var. mongolica. Growth and physiological performance of inoculated seedlings were significantly better than that of uninoculated seedlings.
