| 1 | Correlations Between Foliar Stable Carbon Isotope Composition and Environmental Factors in Desert Plant Reaumuria soongorica (Pall.) Maxim.显示文摘Leaves of 407 individuals of Reaumuria soongorica (Pall.) Maxim. collected from the major distribution areas were measured to investigate the distribution characteristics of the stable carbon isotope in this desert plant, as well as correlations between δ13C values and environmental factors. Results showed that δ13C values in R. soongorica ranged from-22.77‰. to-29.85‰. and that the mean δ13C value (-26.52‰)was higher than a previously reported δ13C value for a different desert ecosystem. This indicates that R.soongorica belongs to the C3 photosynthetic pathway and has higher water use efficiency than other species. The correlations between δ13C values and environmental factors demonstrated that the foliar δ13C values in R. soongorica increased significantly with decreasing mean annual precipitation and mean relative humidity, and decreased with decreasing duration of sunshine and evaporation. The spatial distribution trend of δ13C values in R. soongorica was not obvious and there was no significant correlation between the δ13C values and mean annual temperature. We conclude that different distribution trends in δ13C values for R. soongorica were likely caused by stomatal limitation rather than by nutrient-related changes in photosynthetic efficiency and that precipitation played an important role in the wide distribution range of R.soongorica. | 7 | Panzhihua Airport Landslide (Oct. 3rd 2009) and an Emergency Monitoring and Warning System Based on the Internet of Things显示文摘Panzhihua city(26°05'-27°21'N,101°08'102°15'E),located in a mountainous area,is one of the large cities in Sichuan province,China.A landslide occurred in the filling body of the eastern part of the Panzhihua airport on October 3,2009(hereafter called the 10.3 landslide).We conducted field survey on the landslide and adopted emergency monitoring and warning models based on the Internet of Things(IoT) to estimate the losses from the disaster and to prevent a secondary disaster from occurring.The results showed that four major features of the airport site had contributed to the landslide,i.e,high altitude,huge amount of filling rocks,deep backfilling and great difficulty of backfilling.The deformation process of the landslide had six stages and the unstable geological structure of high fillings and an earthquake were the main causes of the landslide.We adopted relative displacement sensing technology and Global System for Mobile Communications(GSM) technology to achieve remote,real-time and unattended monitoring of ground cracks in the landslide.The monitoring system,including five extensometers with measuring ranges of 200,450 and 700 mm,was continuously working for 17 months and released 7 warning signals with an average warning time of about 26 hours.At 10 am on 6 December 2009,the system issued a warning and on-site workers were evacuated and equipment protected immediately.At 2:20 pm on 7 December,a medium-scale collapse occurred at the No.5 monitoring site,which justified the alarm and proved the reliability and efficiency of the monitoring system. | WANG Hong-hui TUO Xian-guo ZHANG Gui-yu PENG Feng-ling | 2013 | Journal of Mountain Science2013,10,5: | 13 |

| 9 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Although the overall prevalence rate is still low, with a population of 1.3 billion, high-risk factors which have contributed to the HIV/AIDS epidemics worldwide continue to prevail in China, including a high rate of injecting drug use and needle sharing, commercial sex with low rates of condom use, and concurrent sex with both commercial sex workers and noncom- mercial casual or steady sex partners. In addition, there are increasing “double risk” populations overlapping drug users and sex workers, as well as increasing rates of STDs and HIV among high-risk populations. Sexual transmission, therefore, may serve as a bridge connecting high-risk populations with general populations. | 11 | Features of colorectal cancer in China stratified by anatomic sites:A hospital-based study conducted in university-affiliated hospitals from 2014 to 2018显示文摘Objective:The clinical and biological characteristics of colorectal cancer have been found to differ depending on the anatomic site of the cancer.However,for Chinese patients,there is limited information on the proportion of cases at each site and the related features.In this study,we explored the location,distribution and other features of colorectal cancers at each anatomic site in Chinese patients.Methods:We conducted a hospital-based study using hospitalization summary reports from 10 Peking University-affiliated hospitals from 2014 to 2018;the reports covered a total of 2,097,347 hospitalizations.Incident cases were chosen as the study population,and their epidemiological features were further analyzed.Results:A total of 20,739 colorectal cancer patients were identified.Rectum was the most common location(48.3%)of the cancer,whereas the proportions of patients with distal and proximal colon cancer were 24.5%and18.6%,respectively.Patients with rectal cancer were predominantly male and were the youngest for all anatomical sites(each P<0.001).The highest proportion of emergency admissions,the longest hospital stays and the highest hospitalization costs were found in patients with proximal colon cancer(each P<0.001).The proximal colon cancer subgroup included the highest proportions of patients with medical histories of cholecystectomy,cholecystolithiasis and/or gallbladder polyps and appendectomy(P=0.009,P<0.001 and P<0.001,respectively).The distal colon cancer subgroup included the highest proportions of patients with medical histories of diabetes and hypertension(P<0.001,respectively).Conclusions:The patterns of colorectal cancer observed in this study differ from those reported for Western patients and show a significantly higher proportion of patients with rectal cancer.Different epidemiological features were also found based on anatomic sites.Further studies based on tumor location should be conducted to facilitate more accurate screening and treatment. | Ruize Qu Yanpeng Ma Liyuan Tao Xiaoyuan Bao Xin Zhou Bingyan Wang Fei Li Siyi Lu Lin Tuo Siyan Zhan Zhipeng Zhang Wei Fu | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4: | 10 |
| 12 | Climatic significance of the stable carbon isotope composition of tree-ring cellulose:Comparison of Chinese hemlock (Tsuga chinensis Pritz) and alpine pine (Pinus densata Mast) in a temperate-moist region of China显示文摘In the reconstruction of past climate using stable carbon isotope composition (δ13C) in tree ring,the responses of the stable carbon composition (δ13C) of multiple tree species to environmental factors must be known detailedly. This study presented two δ13C series in annual tree rings for Chinese hem-lock (Tsuga chinensis Pritz) and alpine pine (Pinus densata Mast),and investigated the relationships between climatic parameters and stable carbon discrimination (△13C) series,and evaluated the poten-tial of climatic reconstruction using △13C in both species,in a temperate-moist region of Chuanxi Pla-teau,China. The raw δ13C series of the two species was inconsistent,which may be a result of different responses caused by tree's inherent physiological differences. After removing the low-frequency ef-fects of CO2 concentration,the high-frequency (year-to-year) inter-series correlation of △13C was strong,indicating that △13C of the two tree species were controlled by common environmental conditions. The △13C series of the species were most significantly correlated with temperature and moisture stress,but in different periods and intensity between the species. During the physiological year,the impacts of temperature and moisture stress on △13C occur earlier for Chinese hemlock (previous December to February for moisture stress and February to April for temperature,respectively) than for alpine pine (March to May for moisture stress and April to July for temperature,respectively). In addition,in temperate-moist regions,the control on △13C of single climatic parameter was not strongly dominant and the op-timal multiple regressions functions just explained the 38.5% variance of the total. | 13 | Preparation of ternary Cr_2 O_3-SiC-TiO_2 composites for the photocatalytic production of hydrogen显示文摘Novel ternary Cr 2 O 3 -SiC-TiO 2 composites were synthesized by implanting Cr 3+ into SiC-TiO 2 via sol-gel and impregnation approaches. The results from X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and trans- mission electron microscopy show that the Cr 3+ species were doped onto the surface of the SiC-TiO 2 carrier. The diffuse reflectance ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra revealed that the absorption edges of the ternary Cr 2 O 3 -SiC-TiO 2 composites were gradually shifted red with increasing chromium content. The luminescence intensities of the composites decreased with increasing doped Cr 3+ content due to the reduction in the number of recombination sites of electron-hole pairs. | 14 | Application of pole-zero cancellation circuit in nuclear signal filtering and shaping algorithm显示文摘In radiation measurement and digital nuclear spectrum systems,traditional nuclear signal processing circuits in nuclear electronics have been gradually replaced by digital algorithm modules with the application of highperformance programmable hardware logic devices(such as FPGA or DSP).Referring to the digital realization method of inverse RC integral circuit systems,the function of the pole-zero cancellation(PZC)circuit was analyzed,a new modified cascade equivalent model of PZC was established,and the time-domain digital PZC(DPZC)recursive algorithm was derived in detail in this study.Two parameters kIand k_(D)are included in the new algorithm,where kIshould match the exponential decay time constant of the input signal to realize the pole-zero compensation,while the decay time constant of the output signal can be changed with the adjustable parameter k_(D)(which is larger than the decay time constant of the input signal).Based on the new DPZC algorithm module,two trapezoidal(triangular)shaping filters were designed and implemented.The amplitude–frequency characteristics of the output signal of the proposed trapezoidal shaping algorithm and the convolution trapezoidal shaping algorithm were compared,with fixed peaking time.The results show that the trapezoidal shaping algorithm based on DPZC can better suppress high-frequency noise.Finally,based on the Na I(Tl)scintillator(u75 mm×75 mm)detector and^(137)Cs source,the effect of the k_(D)value on the energy resolution of the DPZC trapezoidal(triangular)shaping algorithm was studied.The experimental results show that,with an increase in k_(D),the energy resolution of the system improved and reached the maximum when k_(D)was greater than 10,and the optimal energy resolution of the system was 7.72%. | Huai-Ping Wang Jian-Bin Zhou Xiao-Ping Ouyang Xian-Guo Tuo Xu Hong Yi Liu Jie Yu You-Xian Jin | 2021 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,8: | 7 |
| 15 | Effects of Salinity on Embryonic Development, Survival, and Growth of Crassostrea hongkongensis显示文摘This study examined the effects of salinity on embryonic development, survival, and growth of the Hong Kong oyster Crassostrea hongkongensis. The embryos, larvae, and juveniles of C. hongkongensis were held in artificial seawater at three different salinities(low, 15; medium, 23; and high, 30) to determine the optimum hatchery and nursery conditions for mass production of the seeds. Results showed that the percentage production of straight-hinged larvae from fertilized eggs was significantly lower at the high salinity than at the low- and medium-salinities(P < 0.05). The survival rates of larvae and juveniles differed significantly among the three salinity trials, with the highest survival rate observed at the low salinity(P < 0.05). The shell height of larvae was significantly larger at the low salinity than at the high and medium salinities from days 9 to 15(P < 0.05), whereas that of juveniles was significantly larger at the low salinity than at the high and medium salinities on day 70(P < 0.05). These results indicate that the larvae and juveniles of C. hongkongensis are tolerant to a wide range of salinities(15 to 30), but show better growth and survival at relatively low salinities. | 16 | Abiogenic hydrocarbons in commercial gases from the Songliao Basin,China显示文摘This paper discusses the kinetic fractionation, composition and distribution characteristics of carbon and hydrogen isotopes for various alkane gases formed in different environments, by different mecha- nisms and from different sources in nature. It is demonstrated that the biodegradation or thermode- gradation of complex high-molecule sedimentary organic material can form microbial gas or thermogenic gas. The δ 13C1 value ranges from -110‰ to -50‰ for microbial gases but from -50‰ to -35‰ (even heavier) for thermogenic gases. Controlled by the kinetic isotope fractionation, both microbial and thermogenic gases have δ 13C and δ D values characterized by normal distribution, i.e. δ 13C1< δ 13C2< δ 13C3< δ 13C4 and δ DCH4< δ DC2H6< δ DC3H8<δ DC4H10, and by a positive correlation between the δ 13C and δ D values. Simple carbonbearing molecules (CH4, CO and CO2) can form abiogenic alkane gases via polymerization in the abiological chemical process in nature, with δ 13C1 heavier than -30‰. Moreover, controlled by the kinetic isotope fractionation, abiogenic alkane gases are characterized by a reverse distribution of δ 13C values and a normal trend of δ D values, namely δ 13C1> δ 13C2> δ 13C3> δ 13C4 and δ DCH4<δ DC2H6< δ DC3H8< δ DC4H10. The δ 13C values and δ D values are negatively correlated. Natural gases from 26 commercial gas wells distributed in the Xujiaweizi and Yingshan-Miaotaizi faulted depressions in the Songliao Basin, China, show δ13C1 values ranging from -30.5‰ to -16.7‰ with a very narrow δ D range between -203‰―-196‰. These gases are characterized by a reverse distribution of δ 13C values but a normal distribution of δ D values, and a negative correlation between their δ 13C and δ D values, indicating an abiological origin. The present study has revealed that abiogenic hydrocarbons not only exist in nature but also can make significant contribution to commercial gas reserviors. It is estimated that the reserve volume of alkane gases with abiogenic characteristics in these 26 gas wells in the Songliao Basin is over 500×108 m3. It was reacted with nano-selenium in distilled water containing ascorbic acid (Vit C) to form a stable CrvpPS-nano-Se complex. The immunomodulatory effects of CrvpPS and CrvpPS-nano-Se on T lymphocytes subgroups and NK cells in mice were investigated. After intragastric administration for 10 days separately, both CrvpPS and CrvpPS-nano-Se showed significant stimulatory functions to thymus gland of mice.
