| 1 | Os isotope dating and growth hiatuses of Co-rich crust from central Pacific显示文摘Up to now, accurate determination of the growth age and hiatuses of the Co-rich crust is still a difficult work, which constrains the researches on the genesis, growth process, controlling factors, regional tectonics, paleo-oceanographic background, etc. of the Co-rich crust. This paper describes our work in determining the initial growth age of the Co-rich crust to be of the late Cretaceous Campanian Stage (about 75-80 Ma), by selecting the Co-rich crust with clear multi-layer structures in a central Pacific seamount for layer-by-layer sample analysis and using a number of chronological methods, such as Co flux dating, dating by correlation with 187Os/188Os evolution curves of seawater, and stratigraphic divi- sion by calcareous nannofossils. We have also discovered growth hiatuses with different time intervals in the early Paleocene, middle Eocene, late Eocene and early-middle Miocene, respectively. | 2 | Phytophthora Effectors Modulate Genome-wide Alternative Splicing of Host mRNAs to Reprogram Plant Immunity显示文摘Alternative splicing(AS)of pre-mRNAs increases transcriptome and proteome diversity,regulates gene expression through multiple mechanisms,and plays important roles in plant development and stress responses.However,the prevalence of genome-wide plant AS changes during infection and the mechanisms by which pathogens modulate AS remain poorly understood.Here,we examined the global AS changes in tomato leaves infected with Phytophthora infestans,the infamous Irish famine pathogen.We show that more than 2000 genes exhibiting significant changes in AS are not differentially expressed,indicating that AS is a distinct layer of transcriptome reprogramming during plant-pathogen interactions.Furthermore,our results show that P.infestans subverts host immunity by repressing the AS of positive regulators of plant immunity and promoting the AS of susceptibility factors.To study the underlying mechanism,we established a luminescence-based AS reporter system in Nicotiana benthamiana to screen pathogen effectors modulating plant AS.We identified nine splicing regulatory effectors(SREs)from 87 P.infestans effectors.Further studies revealed that SRE3 physically binds U1-70K to manipulate the plant AS machinery and subsequently modulates AS-mediated plant immunity.Our study not only unveils genome-wide plant AS reprogramming during infection but also establishes a novel AS screening tool to identify SREs from a wide range of plant pathogens,providing opportunities to understand the splicing regulatory mechanisms through which pathogens subvert plant immunity. | Jie Huang Xinyu Lu Hongwei Wu Yuchen Xie Qian Peng Lianfeng Gu Juyou Wu Yuanchao Wang Anireddy SNReddy Suomeng Dong | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,10: | 4 |

| 4 | The Features and Regulation of Co-transcriptional Splicing in Arabidopsis显示文摘Precursor mRNA(pre-mRNA)splicing is essential for gene expression in most eukaryotic organisms.Previous studies from mammals,Drosophila,and yeast show that the majority of splicing events occurs co-transcriptionally.In plants,however,the features of co-transcriptional splicing(CTS)and its regulation still remain largely unknown.Here,we used chromatin-bound RNA sequencing to study CTS in Arabidopsis thaliana.We found that CTS is widespread in Arabidopsis seedlings,with a large proportion of alternative splicing events determined co-transcriptionally.CTS efficiency correlated with gene expression level,the chromatin landscape and,most surprisingly,the number of introns and exons of individual genes,but is independent of gene length.In combination with enhanced crosslinking and immunoprecipitation sequencing analysis,we further showed that the hnRNP-like proteins RZ-1B and RZ-1C promote efficient CTS globally through direct binding,frequently to exonic sequences.Notably,this general effect of RZ-1B/1C on splicing promotion is mainly observed at the chromatin level,not at the mRNA level.RZ-1C promotes CTS of multiple-exon genes in association with its binding to regions both proximal and distal to the regulated introns.We propose that RZ-1C promotes efficient CTS of genes with multiple exons through cooperative interactions with many exons,introns,and splicing factors.Our work thus reveals important features of CTS in plants and provides methodologies for the investigation of CTS and RNA-binding proteins in plants. | Danling Zhu Fei Mao Yuanchun Tian Xiaoya Lin Lianfeng Gu Hongya Gu Li-jia Qu Yufeng Wu Zhe Wu | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,2: | 1 |

| 7 | High-entropy(Sm_(0.2)Eu_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Dy_(0.2)Er_(0.2))_(2)Hf_(2)O_(7) ceramic with superb resistance to radiation-induced amorphization显示文摘Nuclear engineering materials are required to possess outstanding extreme environmental tolerance and irradiation resistance.A promising novel pyrochlore-type of(Sm_(0.2)Eu_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Dy_(0.2)Er_(0.2))2 Hf_(2)O_(7)high-entropy ceramic(HE-RE2 Hf_(2)O_(7))for control rod was prepared by solid-state reaction method.The ion irradiation of HE-RE_(2) Hf_(2)O_(7)with 400 keV Kr+at 400℃was investigated using a 400 kV ion implanter and compared with single-component pyrochlore Gd2 Hf_(2)O_(7)to evaluate the irradiation resistance.For HE-RE2 Hf_(2)O_(7),the phase transition from pyrochlore to defective fluorite is revealed after irradiation at 60 dpa.After irradiation at 120 dpa,it maintained crystalline,which is comparable to Gd2 Hf_(2)O_(7)but superior to the titanate pyrochlores previously studied.Moreover,the lattice expansion of HE-RE2 Hf_(2)O_(7)(_(0.2)2%)is much lower than that of Gd2 Hf_(2)O_(7)(0.62%),indicating excellent irradiation damage resistance.Nanoindentation tests displayed an irradiation-induced increase in hardness and a decrease in elastic modulus by about 2.6%.Irradiation-induced segregation of elements is observed on the surface of irradiated samples.In addition,HE-RE2 Hf_(2)O_(7)demonstrates a more sluggish grain growth rate than Gd2 Hf_(2)O_(7)at 1200℃,suggesting better high-temperature stability.The linear thermal expansion coefficient of HE-RE2 Hf_(2)O_(7)is 10.7×10-6 K-1 at 298–1273 K.In general,it provides a new strategy for the design of the next advanced nuclear engineering materials. | Jingxin Wu Meng Zhang Zhanqiang Li Minzhong Huang Huiming Xiang Liyan Xue Zhengming Jiang Zhigang Zhao Lianfeng Wei Yong Zheng Fan Yang Guang Ran Yanchun Zhou Heng Chen | 2023 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,24: | 1 |
| 8 | Observation of Van Hove Singularities and Temperature Dependence of Electrical Characteristics in Suspended Carbon Nanotube Schottky Barrier Transistors显示文摘A Van Hove singularity(VHS) is a singularity in the phonon or electronic density of states of a crystalline solid. When the Fermi energy is close to the VHS, instabilities will occur, which can give rise to new phases of matter with desirable properties. However, the position of the VHS in the band structure cannot be changed in most materials. In this work, we demonstrate that the carrier densities required to approach the VHS are reached by gating in a suspended carbon nanotube Schottky barrier transistor. Critical saddle points were observed in regions of both positive and negative gate voltage, and the conductance flattened out when the gate voltage exceeded the critical value. These novel physical phenomena were evident when the temperature is below 100 K. | 12 | The dopamine receptor D4 regulates the proliferation of pulmonary arteries smooth muscle in broilers by downregulating AT1R显示文摘The major cause of pulmonary vascular remodeling in broilers is abnormal proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs),and one of the main causes of pulmonary hypertension syndrome(PHS)in broilers is pulmonary artery vascular remodeling.Forty Arbor Acres(AA)broilers were randomly divided into four groups(n=10):a control group(deionized water,Og/L NaCl),a freshwater group(FW,deionized water+1 g/L NaCl),highly salinized freshwater group 1(H-SFW-1,deionized water+2.5 g/L NaCl)and highly salinized freshwater group 2(H-SFW-2,deionized water+5 g/L NaCl).The results of in vivo experiments showed that vascular smooth muscle of the broilers could be significantly proliferated by intake of high-salinity fresh water(H-SFW-1&H-SFW-2),which significantly increased the content of angiotensin II(Ang II)and the expression of angiotensin II type 1(AT1)receptor protein.Meanwhile,it significantly decreased the expression of dopamine receptor D4(DRD4)protein.The results of in vitro experiments showed that exogenous Ang II induced the proliferation of primary VSMCs in broilers,which could be significantly inhibited by DRD4 agonists(D4A,HY-101384A)and enhanced by DRD4 inhibitors(D4I;HY-B0965).In addition,the results of immunoblotting and fluorescence quantitative PCR showed that AT1 receptors could be negatively regulated by DRD4 in VSMCs of broilers,either at the transcriptional or translational level.At the same time,the expression of AT1 receptor could be increased by DRD4 inhibition by D4I and decreased by DRD4 activation by D4A.The negative regulatory effect of DRD4 on AT1 receptor occurred in a dose-dependent manner.These results indicate that long-term intake of highly salinized fresh water can cause PHS in broilers,accompanied by varying degrees of proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle.This mechanism may involve response of its receptor being induced by increased Ang II,while DRD4 can negatively regulate it. | Xiaoqi Yang Yang Fu Lianfeng Wu Antong Li Luyao Ji Hao Li Yuxuan Peng Jiabin Zhang Donghai Zhou Huiping Zhou | 2021 | Animal Diseases2021,1,2: | 0 |

| 14 | Classification of Rice Yield Using UAV-Based Hyperspectral Imagery and Lodging Feature显示文摘High-yield rice cultivation is an effective way to address the increasing food demand worldwide.Correct classification of high-yield rice is a key step of breeding.However,manual measurements within breeding programs are time consuming and have high cost and low throughput,which limit the application in large-scale field phenotyping.In this study,we developed an accurate large-scale approach and presented the potential usage of hyperspectral data for rice yield measurement using the XGBoost algorithm to speed up the rice breeding process for many breeders.In total,13 japonica rice lines in regional trials in northern China were divided into different categories according to the manual measurement of yield.Using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)platform equipped with a hyperspectral camera to capture images over multiple time series,a rice yield classification model based on the XGBoost algorithm was proposed.Four comparison experiments were carried out through the intraline test and the interline test considering lodging characteristics at the midmature stage or not.The result revealed that the degree of lodging in the midmature stage was an important feature affecting the classification accuracy of rice.Thus,we developed a low-cost,high-throughput phenotyping and nondestructive method by combining UAV-based hyperspectral measurements and machine learning for estimation of rice yield to improve rice breeding efficiency. | Jian Wang Bizhi Wu Markus VKohnen Daqi Lin Changcai Yang Xiaowei Wang Ailing Qiang Wei Liu Jianbin Kang Hua Li Jing Shen Tianhao Yao Jun Su Bangyu Li Lianfeng Gu | 2021 | Plant Phenomics2021,3,1: | 0 |

| 16 | Maternal aging increases offspring adult body size via transmission of donut-shaped mitochondria显示文摘Maternal age at childbearing has continued to increase in recent decades.However,whether and how it influences offspring adult traits are largely unknown.Here,using adult body size as the primary readout,we reveal that maternal rather than paternal age has an evolutionarily conserved effect on offspring adult traits in humans,Drosophila,and Caenorhabditis elegans.Elucidating the mechanisms of such effects in humans and other long-lived animals remains challenging due to their long life course and difficulties in conducting in vivo studies.We thus employ the short-lived and genetically tractable nematode C.elegans to explore the mechanisms underlying the regulation of offspring adult trait by maternal aging.By microscopic analysis,we find that old worms transmit aged mitochondria with a donut-like shape to offspring.These mitochondria are rejuvenated in the offspring’s early life,with their morphology fully restored before adulthood in an AMPK-dependent manner.Mechanistically,we demonstrate that early-life mitochondrial dysfunction activates AMPK,which in turn not only alleviates mitochondrial abnormalities but also activates TGFβsignaling to increase offspring adult size.Together,our findings provide mechanistic insight into the ancient role of maternal aging in shaping the traits of adult offspring. | Runshuai Zhang Jinan Fang Ting Qi Shihao Zhu Luxia Yao Guicun Fang Yunsheng Li Xiao Zang Weina Xu Wanyu Hao Shouye Liu Dan Yang Di Chen Jian Yang Xianjue Ma Lianfeng Wu | 2023 | Cell Research2023,33,11: | 0 |
