Mn3O4 nanoparticles@reduced graphene oxide composite:An efficient electrocatalyst for artificial N2 fixation to NH3 at ambient conditions显示文摘Currently,industrial-scale NH3 production almost relies on energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process from atmospheric N2 with large amount of CO2 emission, while low-cost and high-efficient catalysts are demanded for the N2 reduction reaction (NRR).In this study,Mn3O4 nanoparticles@reduced graphene oxide (Mn3O4@rGO) composite is reported as an efficient NRR electrocatalyst with excellent selectivity for NH3 formation. In 0.1 M Na2SO4 solution, such catalyst obtains a NH3 yield of 17.4 μg·h^-1·mg^-1cat.and a Faradaic efficiency of 3.52% at-0.85 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode.Notably,it also shows high electrochemical stability during electrolysis process.Density functional theory (DFT) calculations also demonstrate that the (112) planes of Mn3O4 possess superior NRR activity. | Hong Huang Feng Gong Yuan Wang Huanbo Wang Xiufeng Wu Wenbo Lu Runbo Zhao Hongyu Chen Xifeng Shi Abdullah M.Asiri Tingshuai Li Qian Liu Xuping Sun | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,5: | 8
Effect of different levels of nitrogen deficiency on switchgrass seedling growth显示文摘Switchgrass(Panicum virgatum L.) is a warm-season rhizomatous perennial grass that can tolerate diverse abiotic stresses while yielding relatively high biomass, and is considered a leading biofuel feedstock for marginal lands. Nitrogen(N) is crucial for the growth and development of switchgrass, and its tolerance to low N supply and high N use efficiency are very important for its production under poor conditions. The large-scale planting of switchgrass on marginal lands could be an effective approach to solving the problem of feedstock supply for biomass energy. This study used a hydroponic experiment to evaluate the effect of N deficiency on switchgrass seedlings. Three N treatments(0, 0.15, and 1.50 mmol L-1Hoagland's solution)and six cultivars were used, three of each ecotype(upland and lowland). The results showed that biomass, leaf area, root surface area, net photosynthesis, and total chlorophyll content significantly decreased under low N treatments compared with those in full strength Hoagland's nutrient solution. However, once established, all plants survived extreme N stress(0 mmol L-1) and, to some extent, were productive. Cultivar Kanlow performed best of the six cultivars under stress. Significant interactions between stress treatment and cultivars showed that breeding for cultivars with high yield and superior performance under N deficiency is warranted. The lowland outperformed the upland ecotypes under stress, suggesting that lowland cultivars may survive and be productive under a wider range of stress conditions. However, given the better adaptability of lowland ecotypes to hydroponic cultivation, further study is needed. | Yi Zhu Xifeng Fan Xincun Hou Juying Wu Tao Wang | 2014 | The Crop Journal2014,2,4: | 4
A Public Health Perspective on Preventing and Controlling the Spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019显示文摘On March 11,2020,the World Health Organization(WHO)formally declared coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)a worldwide pandemic as the virus spreads rapidly with new cases and deaths rising exponentially in many countries. As of March 12,there were 125,048 confirmed cases and 4,613 deaths, and the numbers are still surging affecting 118 countries(1).Now we know that regional efforts to contain individual outbreaks have failed. The next phase of epidemic control is mitigation, and China has implemented multiple effective measurements such as mandatory citywide lockdowns to isolate and block the spread since January 2020.Recent data has shown evidence of controlling the epidemic(2). | Xifeng Wu Yuanqing Ye | 2020 | China CDC weekly2020,2,14: | 2
Nanotrap-enabled quantification of KRAS-induced peptide hydroxylation in blood for cancer early detection显示文摘Circulating peptide is a potential source of biomarkers for cancer detection. However, the existence of large molecular weight proteins in plasma have a disastrous effect on circulating peptides isolating and detecting.Herein, nanotrap fractionation following by mass spectrometry have been applied to quantify the levels of bradykinin (BK) and hydroxylated bradykinin (Hyp-BK) as a relative measure of KRAS-regulated prolyl-4-hydroxylase alpha-1 (P4HA1) which may serve as early diagnosis marker for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).We found that P4HA1 can be upregulated by KRASG12v,which is a PDAC driver mutation, using HPNE/KRAS and HPNE cells. And we revealed that P4HA1 is overexpressed in PDAC tumors, compared to normal and inflamed pancreatic tissues.RNA interference revealed that P4HA1 activity was primarily responsible for Hyp-BK production.Mass spectrometry analysis revealed that plasma Hyp-BK/BK ratio was higher in PDAC than pancreatitis patients and healthy controls, while the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) is 0.8209 (95%Cl,0.7269-0.9149).The Hyp-BK/BK association with PDAC was reproduced in another cohort, where this ratio was found to increase with advancing tumor stage. These novel findings paved the way for wider applications of Nanotrap coupled mass spectrometry as a powerful tool for revealing biosignatures from plasma. | Zaian Deng Zhen Zhao Bo Ning Jeffery Basilio Karen Mann Jie Fu Yajun Gu Yuanqing Ye Xifeng Wu Jia Fan Paul Chiao Tony Hu | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,6: | 2

All-optical modulation of quantum states by nonlinear metasurface显示文摘Metasurfaces have proven themselves an exotic ability to harness light at nano-scale,being important not only for classical but also for quantum optics.Dynamic manipulation of the quantum states is at the heart of quantum information processing;however, such function has been rarely realized with metasurfaces so far. Here,we report an all-optical dynamic modulation of the photonic quantum states using the nonlinear metasurface. The metasurface consists of a metallic nanostructure combined with a photoisomerizable azo layer.By tuning the plasmonic resonance through optically switching the azo molecules between their binary isomeric states,we have realized dynamic control of transmission efficiencies of orthogonally polarized photons and also the phase delay between them, thereby an entangled state was efficiently controlled. As an illustration,a quantum state distillation has been demonstrated to recover a Bell state from a non-maximally entangled one to that with fidelities higher than 98%.Our work would enrich the functions of the metasurface in the quantum world, from static to dynamic modulation, making the quantum metasurface going practical. | Di Zhang Yang Chen Shengchao Gong Wei Wu Wei Cai Mengxin Ren Xifeng Ren Shuang Zhang Guangcan Guo Jingjun Xu | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,3: | 1

Trend Analysis and Intervention Effect Starting Point Detection of COVID-19 Epidemics Using Recalibrated Time Series Models—Worldwide,2020显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to identify a model for short-term coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)trend prediction and intervention evaluation. Methods:We compared the autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA)model and Holt exponential smoothing(Holt)model on predicting the number of cumulative COVID-19 cases in China.Based on the mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)value, the optimal model was selected and further tested using data from the United States,Italy and Republic of Korea. The intervention effect starting time points and abnormal trend changes were detected by observing the pattern of differences between the predicted and real trends. Results:The recalibrated ARIMA model with a 5-day prediction time span has the best model performance with MAPEs ranged between 2%and 5%.The intervention effects started to show on February 7 in the mainland of China,March 5 in Republic of Korea and April 27 in Italy, but have not been detected in the US as of May 19.Temporary abnormal trends were detected in Korea and Italy, but the overall epidemic trends were stable since the effect starting points. Conclusion:The recalibrated ARIMA model can detect the intervention effects starting points and abnormal trend changes;thus to provide valuable information support for epidemic trend analysis and intervention evaluation. | Shu Li Chen Chen Shuyin Cao Kejia Hu Hao Lei Xiaolin Xu Qinchuan Wang Changzheng Yuan Sicong Wang Sisi Wang Junlin Jia Yuanqing Ye Xifeng Wu | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,20: | 0
Fauna characteristics and ecological distribution of Carnivora and Artiodactyla in Niubeiliang National Nature Reserve,China显示文摘Niubeiliang National Nature Reserve(NNR,108°45p-109°04p E,33°47p-33°56p N)is located on the east-ern range of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province,China and spans the southern and northern slopes of Mt.Qinling.A transect survey and investigation were carried out in NNR to determine the fauna characteristics and ecological distribution of carnivora and artiodactyla from May 2003 to August 2004.The NNR has 18 mammals(carnivore and artiodactyl),two of which belong to the first class and seven to the second class of state key protected wildlife in China. The results of this study indicated that ungulates were abun-dant in the NNR,as all ungulates that were distributed within Mt.Qinling could be found within the reserve. However, only 45.5%of the carnivores distributed within Mt.Qinling were detected within the NNR.Among the mammals, there were 12 oriental species(66.7%),1 palearctic specie(5.5%)and 5 widely-distributed species(27.8%).The NNR is a crossing area of palearctic species and oriental species on the zoogeo-graphical regions, and it is a transitional area from the oriental realm to the palearctic realm. The results of the analysis on the ecological distribution of carnivore and artiodactyl in the area showed that their elevation ranges had large differences. The species whose elevation ranges above 1300 m,about 1000 m,and in 450-700 m occupied one third respectively. The results also indicated that species richness for the mam-mals in the NNR peaked at a middle elevation(rising at first, then descending with the increase in elevation). Not only on the southern slope, but also on the northern slope of Mt.Qinling, the number of species distributed in the area at 1800-2200 m a.s.l.was the largest(more than 80%),while the number of species distributed in the area above 2600 m a.s.l.was the smallest(about 50%).Elevation gradients of species richness for the mammals in the NNR also embodied the mammal distributions among the vegetation types. The number of species distributed in the mixed coniferous and broadleaf deciduous forest at middle elevations was the larg-est,while the number of species distributed in the broadleaf deciduous forest at middle and low elevations, subalpine coniferous forest, subalpine shrubbery and meadow was relatively smaller. | ZENG Zhigao SONG Yanling MA Yingtai WANG Xifeng WU Xuntao XIE Zhenfeng SHAO Jianbin LI Chunning | 2007 | Frontiers in Biology2007,2,1: | 0
Low-Temperature Diffusion Bonding Behavior of Hydrogenated Zr R60702显示文摘High temperature in diffusion bonding(DB)process severely deteriorates the performance of zirconium(Zr)R60702 in extreme chemical environment. Therefore,it is important to reduce the DB temperature of Zr R60702.In this work,low-temperature diffusion bonding of Zr R60702 at 750°C is realized by 0.3 wt%hydrogen addition while 900°C is required in DB process for unhydrogenated Zr R60702.The shear strength of the hydrogenated joint bonded at 750°C reaches 388 MPa,which is 117.98%higher than that of the unhydrogenated joint bonded at 750°C and equal to that of the unhydrogenated joint bonded at 900°C.The effects of hydrogen addition in Zr R60702 on the microstructure evolution, phase transformation temperature, interatomic bonding and self-diffusion coefficient of Zr atoms are investigated in detail. The results show that the optimized DB properties can be attributed to the improvements of its grain boundary diffusion, plasticity and self-diffusion coefficient of Zr atoms. | Jialin Zheng Longteng Li Huiping Wu Doudou Yang Bin Wang Dayong An Xifeng Li | 2023 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,10: | 0
Social–financial approach for analyzing financial transitions显示文摘This study proposes a social-financial approach(SFA)to fill the methodological research gap in strategic policy design for managing financial transitions during social changes. The SFA seeks to characterize inclusive transitions in response to innovation and analyze financial management in social changes.Using a multilevel perspective,we combine evolutionary finance and inclusive growth analytics into this framework. We contend that the interaction between the different levels can be summarized as spontaneous adjustments and the alignment of financial elements with the indicators.Actors who attempt to achieve their goals based on past performance evaluations and other forms of bounded rationality strive to cope with adjustments and further trigger a reorientation of the existing regime. We also developed a new configuration tool called the three-axis description to describe the evolution of financial transitions at different stages. These methods allow us to analyze the evolution of financial transition and efficiency, and we argue that market efficiency evolves in stages with the finan-cial transition. Finally,to demonstrate the capability of SFA to identify diverse financial transition pathways,we examined an example case:the establishment of the Bretton Woods System. | Xifeng Wu Yue Shen Jin Chen Yu Chen | 2023 | Financial Innovation2023,9,1: | 0
Superplastic Tension Behavior of Dissimilar TC4/SP700 Laminate through Diffusion Bonding显示文摘Superplastic forming is a practical method to manufacture complex-shaped parts of titanium alloys with large deformation.Laminated parts of dissimilar titanium alloys fabricated by superplastic forming can achieve excellent performance by combining the advantages of components. This work displays the superplastic tension behavior and microstructural evolution of dissimilar TC4/SP700 laminate prepared by the diffusion bonding process. Two titanium alloys can achieve metallurgical bonding at parameters of 800℃/1 h/5 MPa.Except for dynamic recrystallization and grain growth behaviors upon superplastic tension,stress-induced phase transformation plays an important role inαtoβphase transformation apart from the elevated temperature. The superplastic deformation can be attributed to the grain boundary sliding accommodated multiplex motion of dislocations. In addition, the retained strengths of all dissimilar TC4/SP700 laminates after superplastic deformation with different strain rates and temperatures range from 807 to 890 MPa. | Qianwen Zhang Tianle Li Yanbin Han Wei Zheng Xifeng Li Jianjun Wu | 2024 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2024,37,2: | 0
Body mass index and survival after cancer diagnosis:A pan-cancer cohort study of 114430 patients with cancer显示文摘The recommendation encouraging patients with cancer to keep a normal body mass index(BMI)is largely extrapolated from data on risk of developing cancer. We tested the prospective association between peri-diagnostic(within 1 year post-diagnosis)BMI and all-cause mortality in patients with incident cancers.During 7.2 years of follow-up,42%(48,340)of the 114430 patients with cancer died.Spline analysis revealed that compared with a BMI of 22.5,a BMI lower than 22.5 was associated with increased risk of all-cause mortality across 24 cancer types.A BMI higher than 22.5 was associated with reduced all-cause mortality, while a non-linear association was observed;the lowest risk was found at a BMI of 29.6–34.2,and the risk started to return to and above unity at very high BMI values. The reduced mortality risk of high BMI was observed in 23 of 24 cancer types and maintained after attempts to remove potential selection bias, confounding by smoking and comorbidities, and reserve causality. | Huakang Tu Jennifer LMcQuade Michael ADavies Maosheng Huang Kunlin Xie Yuanqing Ye Wong-Ho Chow Alma Rodriguez Xifeng Wu | 2022 | The Innovation2022,3,6: | 0
Smoking, smoking cessation, and survival after cancer diagnosis in 128,423 patients across cancer types显示文摘Dear Editor,Given the systemic and substantial health consequences of smoking and the significant cancer risk from smoking[1,2],it is expected that cancer patients would quit smoking after cancer diagnosis. However, the smoking rate among cancer survivors is only slightly lower than that among the general population[3,4],and 64%of smokers diagnosed with cancer continued to smoke even after they learned they had cancer[5].In addition, some former smokers may resume smoking after surviving cancer[6].A number of previous studies have investigated the association between smoking and clinical outcomes in cancer patients[1,7–10].Nevertheless,most studies were conducted in smoking-related cancers, and evidence for non-smoking-related cancers is limited. There is an urgent need for more convincing evidence showing the harms of smoking and the benefits of smoking cessation to promote smoking cessation in cancer patients and survivors. We systematically studied the associations of smoking status, smoking intensity, age at initiation, and smoking cessation at cancer diagnosis with all-cause mortality in a prospective cohort of 128,423 cancer patients across 23 cancer types from the MD Anderson Cancer Patients and Survivors Cohort. | Huakang Tu Yuanqing Ye Maosheng Huang Kunlin Xie Wong-Ho Chow Hua Zhao Xifeng Wu | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,12: | 0
