1Enhanced secondary pollution offset reduction of primary emissions during COVID-19 lockdown in China显示文摘To control the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus(COVID-19),China imposed nationwide restrictions on the movement of its population(lockdown)after the Chinese New Year of 2020,leading to large reductions in economic activities and associated emissions.Despite such large decreases in primary pollution,there were nonetheless several periods of heavy haze pollution in eastern China,raising questions about the well-established relationship between human activities and air quality.Here,using comprehensive measurements and modeling,we show that the haze during the COVID lockdown was driven by enhancements of secondary pollution.In particular,large decreases in NOx emissions from transportation increased ozone and nighttime NO_(3)radical formation,and these increases in atmospheric oxidizing capacity in turn facilitated the formation of secondary particulate matter.Our results,afforded by the tragic natural experiment of the COVID-19 pandemic,indicate that haze mitigation depends upon a coordinated and balanced strategy for controlling multiple pollutants.Xin Huang Aijun Ding Jian Gao Bo Zheng Derong Zhou Ximeng Qi Rong Tang Jiaping Wang Chuanhua Ren Wei Nie Xuguang Chi Zheng Xu Liangduo Chen Yuanyuan Li Fei Che Nini Pang Haikun Wang Dan Tong Wei Qin Wei Cheng Weijing Liu Qingyan Fu Baoxian Liu Fahe Chai Steven JDavis Qiang Zhang Kebin He 2021National Science Review2021,8,2:47
2Effects of aeration method and aeration rate on greenhouse gas emissions during composting of pig feces in pilot scale显示文摘The aim of this study was to uncover ways to mitigate greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions and reduce energy consumption during the composting process. We assessed the effects of different aeration rates(0, 0.18, 0.36, and 0.54 L/(kg dry matter(dm)·min)) and methods(continuous and intermittent) on GHG emissions. Pig feces and corn stalks were mixed at a ratio of 7:1. The composting process lasted for 10 weeks, and the compost was turned approximately every 2 weeks. Results showed that both aeration rate and method significantly affected GHG emissions. Higher aeration rates increased NH3 and N2O losses,but reduced CH4 emissions. The exception is that the CH4 emission of the passive aeration treatment was lower than that of the low aeration rate treatment. Without forced aeration,the CH4 diffusion rates in the center of the piles were very low and part of the CH4 was oxidized in the surface layer. Intermittent aeration reduced NH3 and CH4 losses, but significantly increased N2 O production during the maturing periods. Intermittent aeration increased the nitrification/denitrification alternation and thus enhanced the N2 O production. Forced aeration treatments had higher GHG emission rates than the passive aeration treatment. Forced aeration accelerated the maturing process, but could not improve the quality of the end product. 5Curative effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on insomnia: a randomized clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on insomnia and explore its mechanism. METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients were randomly divided into an experiment group and a control group. Sixty patients in the experiment group were treated once a day with acupuncture at Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Shenmai (BL 62), and Zhaohai (KI 6) and with moxibustion at Baihui (GV 20) and Sishencong (EX-HN 1). Sixty patients in the control group were acupunctured once a day at Shenmen (HT 7), Neiguan (PC 6), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6).The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to compare sleep improvement between the two groups. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 87.7% in the experiment group and 76.3% in the control group. The PSQI scores and the total score were lower after treatment than before treatment in bothgroups. However, the reduction in the experiment group was greater than that in the control group in sleeping quality, time to fall asleep, sleeping disorder, and daytime function (P<0.05). 6二仙汤治疗脊髓损伤后骨质疏松的实验研究显示文摘目的研究二仙汤对脊髓损伤后骨质疏松的治疗作用。方法采用改良Allen’s法制作SCI(脊髓损伤)模型,建模成功后将其随机分为SCI模型组、SCI二仙汤组及SCI福善美组。给予相应药物治疗8 w,记录不同时期大鼠体重变化及BBB评分,并于实验第4、8周,取血清进行ALP、血钙含量检测,实验结束后计算各脏器系数。结果本实验建立的SCI模型,BBB评分均为0或1分,二仙汤能改善SCI大鼠后肢运动、调整肝脏、睾丸系数,但效果弱于福善美。术后第4周SCI大鼠仍存在ALP水平降低、血Ca含量升高现象,第8周则已恢复至接近正常水平,而经二仙汤治疗后大鼠血钙含量明显降低。结论二仙汤对脊髓损伤后骨质疏松有一定的治疗作用。周兴茂 吴俊哲 王伟群 吴美音 施旭光 SHI Xuguang 2015中国骨质疏松杂志2015,21,2:14

8Effect of TiO_2 on Crystallization of the Glass Ceramics Prepared from Granite Tailings显示文摘The effect of TiO2 on the crystallization behaviors of the glass ceramics prepared from granite tailings was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), X-ray diffraction(XRD), and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM). The results showed that the crystallization peak temperature decreased firstly, and then increased with the increase of TiO2 content. The optimum addition amount of TiO2 was 8 wt%. With a single-step heat treatment at 924 ℃ for 1 h, augite precipitated as the only crystalline phase both on the surface and in the interior. The avrami parameter of the sample was 3.25, suggesting a twodimensional crystallization mechanism. 9Characteristics of dissolved organic matter in lakes with different eutrophic levels in southeastern Hubei Province,China显示文摘Dissolved organic matter(DOM)plays a crucial role in both the carbon cycle and geochemical cycles of other nutrient elements,which is of importance to the management and protection of the aquatic environments.To achieve a more comprehensive understanding the characteristics of DOM in the Changjiang(Yangtze)River basin,water samples from four natural lakes(Xiandao,Baoan,Daye,and Qingshan)in southeastern Hubei Province in China with different eutrophication levels were collected and analyzed.The optical characteristics were analyzed using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry and excitation-emission matrix spectroscopy coupled with parallel factor analysis.The results show that:(1)two humic-like components(C1 and C2)and two protein-like substances(C3 and C4)of DOM were identified in all waterbodies;(2)C3 originated primarily from the degradation of microalgae and contributed substantially to humic-like components during transformation.C4 was widely present in the Changjiang River basin and its formation was related to microbial activity,rather than algal blooms or seasons.Influenced by the water mixing,the protein-like components were more likely to be transformed by microorganism,whereas humic-like components were more easily to be photobleached;(3)the concentration of DOM and the fluorescence intensity of humic-like components gradually increased with rising lake eutrophication levels.With respect to protein-like components,only C3 showed changes along the eutrophication gradients;(4)DOM showed a high affinity with permanganate index(COD Mn)and chlorophyll a(chl a)while the relationship was variable with phosphorus.This study helps us systematically understand the DOM characteristics,microbial activities,and pollutant transformation in the Changjiang River basin and provides reference to the ecological restoration of aquatic environments.Weixiang REN Xiaodong WU Xuguang GE Guiying LIN Mengdie ZHOU Zijie LONG Xinhui YU Wei TIAN 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,4:8
10Purification of Aminopeptidase N Protein and Differences in cDNAs Encoding APN1 Between Susceptible and Resistant Helicoverpa armigera Strains to Bacillus thuringiensis Toxins显示文摘The brush border membrane vesicles (BBMVs) in midgut of Helicoverpa armigera weresuccessfully separated, and most of the Aminopeptidase N (APN) activities in BBMV werepreserved. The 3-[(3-chlor-amidopropyl) dimethylammonio]-1-propane-sulphonate (CHAPS)can enhance the dissolution of BBMV, and phosphatidylinositol-specific phosopholipase C(PI-PLC) can cleave the APN from midgut membrane. The APN was primarily purified usinga Mono-Q column. The results of immunoblotting showed that the 120 and 170kDa proteinsin the BBMV could bind Cry1Ac, and 120kDa APN was a glycosylphosphalidylinositol(GPI)-anchored protein. Two Bt-resistant strains (Bt-P, Bt-M) were obtained after beingselected for more than five years in laboratory using Bt insecticides and Bt transgeniccotton incorporated into diet separately. The resistance of Bt-P and Bt-M were 1083.3and 48.7 times that of susceptible strain. The genes encoding APN1 in midgut ofsusceptible and resistant H.armigera were cloned by PCR and RACE techniques. Theinferred amino acid sequences of APN1 possessed the common character of APN family ininsects. 11Induced migration of endothelial cells into 3D scaffolds by chemoattractants secreted by pro-inflammatory macrophages in situ显示文摘Cell migration in scaffolds plays a crucial role in tissue regeneration,which can better mimic cell behaviors in vivo.In this study,a novel model has been proposed on controlling 3D cell migration in porous collagen-chitosan scaffolds with various pore structures under the stimulation of inflammatory cells to mimic the angiogenesis process.Endothelial cells(ECs)cultured atop the scaffolds in the Transwell molds which were placed into a well of a 24-well culture plate were promoted to migrate into the scaffolds by chemoattractants such as vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)secreted by the pro-inflammatory macrophages incubated in the well culture plate.The phenotype of macrophages was mediated by 50 ng/ml interferongamma(IFN-c)and different concentrations of lipopolysaccharide(LPS,150–300 ng/ml).The cell migration depth had a positive correlation with LPS concentration,and thereby the TNF-a concentration.The ECs migrated easier to a deeper zone of the scaffolds prepared at10C(187 lm in pore diameter)than that at20C(108 lm in pore diameter)as well.The method provides a useful strategy to study the 3D cell migration,and is helpful to reveal the vascularization process during wound healing in the long run.Xuguang Li Yuankun Dai Tao Shen Changyou Gao 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,3:7

13Removal of PCDD/Fs and PCBs from flue gas using a pilot gas cleaning system显示文摘A 100 Nm3 /hr capacity pilot scale dual bag filter (DBF) system was tested on the flue gas from an actual hazardous waste incinerator (HWI), the removal efficiency of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) was also studied. The first filter collected most of the fly ash and associated chlorinated organic; then activated carbon (AC) was injected and used to collect phase chlorinated organic from the gas. Concentrations of PCDD/Fs and PCBs after the DBF system were 0.07 and 0.01 ng TEQ/Nm3 , respectively, which were both far below the national emission standard. Comparing with the original single bag filter system, the PCDD/Fs concentration dropped a lot from 0.36 to 0.07 ng TEQ/Nm3 . Increasing AC feeding rate enhanced their collection efficiency, yet reduced the AC utilization efficiency, and it still needs further study to select an appropriate feeding rate in the system. 14Analysis of IGF2 mRNA expression and its methylation status between cattle yaks and their parents显示文摘Cattle yaks are an F1 hybrid between cattle and yaks and exhibit significant hybrid vigor. However, cattle yaks are sterile males. To study the epigenetic aspects of this reproductive isolation, IGF2 mRNA expression in cattle yaks and their parents and the patterns of the IGF2 differentially methylated regions (DMR) were examined in blood and testes. The results showed that IGF2 expression in cattle yaks' testes was lower than in their parents (P < 0.01). The IGF2 DMR was highly methylated (above 90%) in blood and testes of cattle yaks, yaks and cattle, with the highest level in cattle yaks (P > 0.05). Our study showed that IGF2 plays an important role in bovine spermato-genesis and might be involved in cattle-yak male sterility. 15Influence of an emulsifier on the pressure desensitization of emulsion explosives显示文摘The desensitization degree of emulsion explosives (EE) was calculated with the peak pressure of explosion shock wavestested in water. To an explosive, the less the desensitization degree, the better the compression resistance, so the compression resistanceof an explosive can be compared and analyzed quantificationally with the desensitization degree. The influence of an emulsifier on thepressure desensitization of EE was studied, including the content and category of emulsifiers. Three kinds of emulsifiers (Span-80,compound emulsifier, and T-152) were used in the tests. The experimental results show that both the content and category of emulsifi-ers make a great effect on the pressure desensitization of EE. The desensitization degree of EE reduces with the emulsifier content beingincreased, but there is an optimal content of an emulsifier for the compression resistance of EE. While the content of Span-80 reaches4wt%, the desensitization degree of EE becomes a minimal value, and augments somewhat if the emulsifier content is increased more.That is to say, the compression resistance of EE becomes the highest while the content of Span-80 is 4wt%, and the compression resis-tance will decline if the content of Span-80 is increased more. 16Study the effects of divalent metallic ions on the combination of DNA and histones with fluorescence anisotropy assays显示文摘The effects of divalent ions(Mn2+,Mg2+,Ca2+) on the interaction between DNA and histone are studied using a fluorescence anisotropy assay. Fluorescence anisotropies of DNA and DNA-histone in the presence of divalent ions(Mn2+,Mg2+,Ca2+) are measured. The results indicate that histone reduces the fluorescence anisotropy of lambda DNA while the divalent ions(Mn2+,Mg2+,Ca2+) significantly enhance the fluorescence anisotropy. Compared to the case of DNA incubated with histone alone,there are more histones binding to DNA when divalent ion,histone and DNA are incubated together. 17Hazardous waste incineration in a rotary kiln:a review显示文摘Hazardous waste output in the world is increasing every year.To achieve higher efficiency and lower pollution,the incin-eration technology for hazardous waste needs to be studied further.This study mainly reviews the research progress in incineration,slagging,and pollutant emission in the rotary kiln in China and abroad in the last 10 years,and conducts a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the research.Considering that there are many variables involved in the incineration process,the incineration law cannot be validated in a limited timeframe by experiments.Researchers often use computer simulations to predict and verify the incineration process through experiments and to provide reference opinions for com-mercial operations.Through the analysis of the research progress in rotary kilns,it is observed that the basic research in rotary kilns is becoming mature.The latest research trend in rotary kilns is interdisciplinary and mixed research.From a new perspective,further research should be focused on a comparative analysis of the rotary kiln and the cement kiln,full life cycle assessment of the impact factors of rotary kiln on the environment,the impact of the factory treatment process on the workers’health,etc.The research direction of rotary kiln in China and abroad for the future has been predicted reasonably.Xuguang Jiang Yanhui Li Jianhua Yan 2019Waste Disposal and Sustainable Energy2019,1,1:4
18Metasurfaces for manipulating terahertz waves显示文摘Terahertz(THz)science and technology have attracted significant attention based on their unique applications in non-destructive imaging,communications,spectroscopic detection,and sensing.However,traditional THz devices must be sufficiently thick to realise the desired wave-manipulating functions,which has hindered the development of THz integrated systems and applications.Metasurfaces,which are two-dimensional metamaterials consisting of predesigned meta-atoms,can accurately tailor the amplitudes,phases,and polarisations of electromagnetic waves at subwavelength resolutions,meaning they can provide a flexible platform for designing ultra-compact and high-performance THz components.This review focuses on recent advancements in metasurfaces for the wavefront manipulation of THz waves,including the planar metalens,holograms,arbitrary polarisation control,special beam generation,and active metasurface devices.Such ultra-compact devices with unique functionality make metasurface devices very attractive for applications such as imaging,encryption,information modulation,and THz communications.This progress report aims to highlight some novel approaches for designing ultra-compact THz devices and broaden the applications of metasurfaces in THz science.Xiaofei Zang Bingshuang Yao Lin Chen Jingya Xie Xuguang Guo Alexei VBalakin Alexander P.Shkurinov Songlin Zhuang 2021Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2021,2,2:4
19Current research into the use of supercritical CO2 technology in shale gas exploitation显示文摘The use of supercritical CO2 for shale gas extraction is a promising new technology.This paper explores current research into this process,looking at analysis of the mechanism of CH4 displacement in nanoporous shale,the positive and negative effects accompanying its use for sequestration as well as organic extraction,the migration of elements and the swelling process,and the macro and micro control mechanisms involved in permeability enhancement in reservoirs.Fruitful directions for future research are also considered through comparison with hydraulic fracturing.The research findings indicate that ScCO2 fluid replacement can be used to increase gas production and seal up greenhouse gases as an effective,clean and safe method of shale gas exploitation.It is particularly effective for promoting the desorption of CH4 in shale reservoirs that have developed fine neck-wide body pores,and the subtle structural changes effected by ScCO2 fluid in sensitive minerals in reservoirs with a high brittle mineral content also have a positive effect on permeability and storage capacity.The adsorption process has been characterized as consisting of three stages:short-term shrinkage,slow swelling,and stability;an expansion equation has been proposed for CO2/CH4 that incorporates competitive adsorption,collision desorption,and impingement re-adsorption.ScCO2 fracturing has been found to be more effective than hydraulic fracturing for dense reservoirs and more effective at linking up pore-micro-fissure-fracture systems.Wang Meng Huang Kai Xie Weidong Dai Xuguang 2019International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,5:4
