1Microcystis aeruginosa/Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes interaction effects on off-flavors in algae/bacteria co-culture system under different temperatures显示文摘We conducted an experiment to study the interaction effects of Microcystis aeruginosa and Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes on off-flavors in an algae/bacteria co-culture system at three temperatures(24, 28 and 32℃). Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry was applied to measure off-flavor compounds dimethyl sulfide(DMS), dimethyl trisulfide(DMTS),2-methylisoborneol, geosmin(GEO) and β-cyclocitral. During the lag phase of co-cultured M. aeruginosa(first 15 days), P. pseudoalcaligenes significantly increased the production of DMS, DMTS and β-cyclocitral at all three temperatures. In the exponential phase of co-cultured M. aeruginosa(after 15 days), M. aeruginosa became the main factor on off-flavors in the co-culture system, and β-cyclocitral turned to the highest off-flavor compound. These results also indicated that DMS, DMTS and β-cyclocitral were the main off-flavor compounds in our M. aeruginosa/P. pseudoalcaligenes co-culture system. Univariate analysis was applied to investigate the effects of M. aeruginosa and P. pseudoalcaligenes on the production of off-flavors. The results demonstrated that both M. aeruginosa and P. pseudoalcaligenes could increase the production of DMS and DMTS, while β-cyclocitral was mainly determined by M. aeruginosa. 2OVERVIEW OF SEVERE TYPHOON FITOW AND ITS OPERATIONAL FORECASTS显示文摘Severe typhoon Fitow(1323)brought persistent and heavy rainfall to Zhejiang and the Shanghai area after it made landfall at Fujian Province of China in October 2013,breaking the rainfall records of several counties and districts in Zhejiang.In this paper,we provide an overview of the characteristics of Fitow’s landfall,including its track,intensity,structural evolution,heavy rainfall,and wind.We also describe some of the associated disastrous impacts.Finally,we provide verifications of operational forecasts of its track,intensity and rainfall.Though the track and intensity is well predicted,the rainfall persistence and enhancement in the second stage in Shanghai and north Zhejiang areas are not predicted out at all.The analysis presented in this paper provides forecasters and researchers with some valuable information on Fitow,which could form a useful basis for further studies.ZIFENG YU YANDIE CHEN DAN WU GUOMIN CHEN XUWEI BAO QIUZHEN YANG RUNLING YU LEI ZHANG JIE TANG MING XU ZHIHUA ZENG 2014Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2014,3,1:2
3Multi-physics analysis and optimisation of high-speed train pantograph-catenary systems allowing for velocity skin effect显示文摘A pantograph-catenary system (PCS) - an essential component to supply a high-speed train (HST) - faces a variety of new challenges due to the continuously increasing train speeds. The HST traction system receives power via an electrical contact between the pantograph strip and the high-voltage contact wire. This electrical contact is subject to serious mechanical shocks and significant electrochemical corrosion, making the modelling of the dynamic processes complicated, especially under high-speed and heavy-load conditions. The damage to the PCS - which is particularly noticeable at the edges of the pantograph strip - may become severe as the speed of the train rises. Moreover, as the speed increases, the distribution of the electrical current in the strip becomes uneven due to the velocity skin effect (VSE). To assess the impact of the VSE on the performance of PCSs, a multi-physics model has been created and is reported in this study. The model has been validated through experiments and the main aspects of its functionality - such as the VSE, friction, and air convection - have been identified and analysed at different speeds. The impact of speed on the traction current and the behaviour of thermal sources have been explored. With the increasing speed, the phenomenon of current clustering at the trailing edge of the strip becomes quite dramatic, resulting in a thermal surge in the region of the strip with high current density. To mitigate the negative impact caused by VSE in the PCSs, an improved kriging optimisation methodology has been utilised to optimise the parameters of the PCS. 4Real-time hand tracking based on YOLOv4 model and Kalman filter显示文摘Aiming at the shortcomings of current gesture tracking methods in accuracy and speed, based on deep learning You Only Look Once version 4(YOLOv4) model, a new YOLOv4 model combined with Kalman filter real-time hand tracking method was proposed. The new algorithm can address some problems existing in hand tracking technology such as detection speed, accuracy and stability. The convolutional neural network(CNN) model YOLOv4 is used to detect the target of current frame tracking and Kalman filter is applied to predict the next position and bounding box size of the target according to its current position. The detected target is tracked by comparing the estimated result with the detected target in the next frame and, finally, the real-time hand movement track is displayed. 6Functional identification of lncRNAs in sweet cherry(Prunus avium)pollen tubes via transcriptome analysis using single-molecule long-read sequencing显示文摘Sweet cherry(Prunus avium)is a popular fruit with high nutritional value and excellent flavor.Although pollen plays an important role in the double fertilization and subsequent fruit production of this species,little is known about its pollen tube transcriptome.In this study,we identified 16,409 transcripts using single-molecule sequencing.After filtering 292 transposable elements,we conducted further analyses including mRNA classification,gene function prediction,alternative splicing(AS)analysis,and long noncoding RNA(lncRNA)identification to gain insight into the pollen transcriptome.The filtered transcripts could be matched with 3,438 coding region sequences from the sweet cherry genome.GO and KEGG analyses revealed complex biological processes during pollen tube elongation.A total of 2043 AS events were predicted,7 of which were identified in different organs,such as the leaf,pistil and pollen tube.Using BLASTnt and the Coding-Potential Assessment Tool(CPAT),we distinguished a total of 284 lncRNAs,among which 154 qualified as natural antisense transcripts(NATs).As the NATs could be the reverse complements of coding mRNA sequences,they might bind to coding sequences.Antisense transfection assays showed that the NATs could regulate the expression levels of their complementary sequences and even affect the growth conditions of pollen tubes.In summary,this research characterizes the transcripts of P.avium pollen and lays the foundation for elucidating the physiological and biochemical mechanisms underlying sexual reproduction in the male gametes of this species.Yang Li Chuanbao Wu Chunsheng Liu Jie Yu Xuwei Duan Wenqi Fan Jing Wang Xiaoming Zhang Guohua Yan Tianzhong Li Kaichun Zhang 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:1

12Bats as the main prey of wintering long-eared owl(Asio otus)in Beijing:Integrating biodiversity protection and urban management显示文摘The loss of biodiversity from urbanized areas is a major environmental problem challenging policy-makers throughout the world.Solutions to this problem are urgently required in China.We carried out a case study of wintering long-eared owls(Asio otus)and their main prey to illustrate the negative effects of urbanization combined with ineffective conservation of biodiversity in Beijing.Field monitoring of owl numbers at two roosting sites from 2004 to 2012 showed that the owl population had fallen rapidly in metropolitan Beijing.Analysis of pellet contents identified only seven individuals of two species of shrew.The majority of mammalian prey comprised four bat and seven rodent species,making up 29.3%and 29.5%of the prey items,respectively.Prey composition varied significantly among years at the two sample sites.At the urban site the consumption of bats and rodents declined gradually over time,while predation on birds increased.In contrast,at the suburban site the prey composition showed an overall decrease in the number of bats,a sharp increase and a subsequent decrease in bird prey,and the number of rodent prey fell to a low point.Rapid development of real estate and inadequate greenfield management in city parks resulted in negative effects on the bird and small mammal habitat of urban areas in Beijing.We suggest that measures to conserve biodiversity should be integrated into future urban planning to maintain China’s rich biodiversity while also achieving sustainable economic development.Long TIAN Xuwei ZHOU Yang SHI Yumin GUO Weidong BAO 2015Integrative Zoology2015,10,2:1

14Bio-clickable mussel-inspired peptides improve titanium-based material osseointegration synergistically with immunopolarization-regulation显示文摘Upon the osteoporotic condition,sluggish osteogenesis,excessive bone resorption,and chronic inflammation make the osseointegration of bioinert titanium(Ti)implants with surrounding bone tissues difficult,often lead to prosthesis loosening,bone collapse,and implant failure.In this study,we firstly designed clickable mussel-inspired peptides(DOPA-N3)and grafted them onto the surfaces of Ti materials through robust catechol-TiO2 coordinative interactions.Then,two dibenzylcyclooctyne(DBCO)-capped bioactive peptides RGD and BMP-2 bioactive domain(BMP-2)were clicked onto the DOPA-N3-coated Ti material surfaces via bio-orthogonal reaction.We characterized the surface morphology and biocompatibility of the Ti substrates and optimized the osteogenic capacity of Ti surfaces through adjusting the ideal ratios of BMP-2/RGD at 3:1.In vitro,the dual-functionalized Ti substrates exhibited excellent promotion on adhesion and osteogenesis of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),and conspicuous immunopolarization-regulation to shift macrophages to alternative(M2)phenotypes and inhibit inflammation,as well as enhancement of osseointegration and mechanical stability in osteoporotic rats.In summary,our biomimetic surface modification strategy by bio-orthogonal reaction provided a convenient and feasible method to resolve the bioinertia and clinical complications of Ti-based implants,which was conducive to the long-term success of Ti implants,especially in the osteoporotic or inflammatory conditions.Jie Sun Yingkang Huang Huan Zhao Junjie Niu Xuwei Ling Can Zhu Lin Wang Huilin Yang Zhilu Yang Guoqing Pan Qin Shi 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,3:0

16Rapid and sensitive detection of urinary KIM-1 using fully printed photonic crystal microarrays显示文摘Urinary kidney injury molecule 1(uKIM-1)serves as a reliable marker for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury(AKI).The rapid and facile detection of changes in uKIM-1 is essential for early AKI diagnosis,ultimately improving the prognosis of patients.In this study,we developed a fully printed photonic crystal-integrated microarray with photonic crystal-enhanced fluorescence properties,which can detect uKIM-1 levels at the point-of-care.We confirmed its efficacy in the early diagnosis of AKI using clinical urine specimens.Direct quantitative detection of uKIM-1 was achieved within 10 min.The lowest limit of detection is 8.75 pg·mL^(-1) with an accuracy of 94.2%.The diagnostic efficacy was validated using 86 clinical urine samples,highlighting the high sensitivity and stability of the photonic crystal microarray.Consequently,a facile and reliable immunoassay was designed and prepared for the rapid quantitative detection of uKIM-1,which is crucial for the early identification and convenient detection of AKI in hospital or community settings.Rapid,convenient,cost-effective,and long-term monitoring of changes in uKIM-1 levels can assist clinicians in making timely adjustments to treatment regimens,preventing the transition from AKI to chronic kidney disease(CKD),improving the quality of life of patients with AKI,and reducing healthcare costs.It highlights the advantages of utilizing urine samples as a noninvasive and easily accessible medium for early detection and monitoring of kidney-related conditions.Yang Liu Xuwei He Zewei Lian Qian Guo Jimei Chi Xiaoxue Lin Liyue Zhang Zheng Liu Yingyuan Liu Meng Su Keyu Wang Qiangguo Ao Qingli Cheng 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
