| 3 | Re-Os Dating of Galena and Sphalerite from Lead-Zinc Sulfide Deposits in Yunnan Province, SW China显示文摘Dating of lead-zinc deposits is of critical importance for better understanding of ore genesis, but has long been a big challenge due to the lack of suitable minerals that can be unequivocally linked to the ore genesis and that can be used for tradition radiometric methods. This kind of deposits have simple mineralogy dominated by galena and sphalerite commonly associated with calcite and other gangue minerals. Both galena and sphalerite have low and high variable Re concentrations and thus Re-Os dating of these minerals have been less promising. In addition, the recovery of Re is extremely low for galena when conventional method was applied, lending additional difficulty in precisely dating galena. In this study, we investigate the recovery of Re using different media for anion exchange separation and reporte a revised preparation method for Re-Os dating of galena and sphalerite. | 4 | Myeloid-specific targeting of Notch ameliorates murine renal fibrosis via reduced infiltration and activation of bone marrowderived macrophage显示文摘Macrophages play critical roles in renal fibrosis.However,macrophages exhibit ontogenic and functional heterogeneities,and which population of macrophages contributes to renal fibrosis and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.In this study,we genetically targeted Notch signaling by disrupting the transcription factor recombination signal binding protein-JK(RBP-J),to reveal its role in regulation of macrophages during the unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO)-induced murine renal fibrosis.Myeloid-specific disruption of RBP-J attenuated renal fibrosis with reduced extracellular matrix deposition and myofibroblast activation,as well as attenuated epithelial-mesenchymal transition,likely owing to the reduced expression of TGF-β.Mean while,RBP-J deletion significantly hampered macrophage infiltration and activation in fibrotic kidney,although their proliferation appeared unaltered.By using macrophage clearance experiment,we found that kidney resident macrophages made negligible contribution,but bone marrow(BM)-derived macrophages played a major role in renal fibrogenesis.Further mechanistic analyses showed that Notch blockade reduced monocyte emigration from BM by down-regulating CCR2 expression.Finally,we found that myeloid-specific Notch activation aggravated renal fibrosis,which was mediated by CCR2^+macrophages infiltration.In summary,our data have unveiled that myeloid-specific targeting of Notch could ameliorate renal fibrosis by regulating BM-derived macrophages recruitment and activation,providing a novel strategy for intervention of this disease. | Yali Jiang Yuanyuan Wang Pengfei Ma Dongjie An Junlong Zhao Shiqian Liang Yuchen Ye Yingying Lu Peng Zhang Xiaowei Liu Hua Han Hongyan Qin | 2019 | Protein & Cell2019,10,3: | 10 |

| 6 | Relationship between the parent charge transfer gap and maximum transition temperature in cuprates显示文摘One of the biggest puzzles concerning the cuprate high temperature superconductors is what determines the maximum transition temperature(Tc,max), which varies from less than 30 to above 130 K in different compounds.Despite this dramatic variation, a robust trend is that within each family, the double-layer compound always has higher Tc,maxthan the single-layer counterpart. Here we use scanning tunneling microscopy to investigate the electronic structure of four cuprate parent compounds belonging to two different families. We find that within each family, the double layer compound has a much smaller charge transfer gap size(DCT), indicating a clear anticorrelation between DCTand Tc,max. | 7 | Identification of banana fusarium wilt using supervised classification algorithms with UAV-based multi-spectral imagery显示文摘The disease of banana Fusarium wilt currently threatens banana production areas all over the world.Rapid and large-area monitoring of Fusarium wilt disease is very important for the disease treatment and crop planting adjustments.The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of supervised classification algorithms such as support vector machine(SVM),random forest(RF),and artificial neural network(ANN)algorithms to identify locations that were infested or not infested with Fusarium wilt.An unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)equipped with a five-band multi-spectral sensor(blue,green,red,red-edge and near-infrared bands)was used to capture the multi-spectral imagery.A total of 139 ground sample-sites were surveyed to assess the occurrence of banana Fusarium wilt.The results showed that the SVM,RF,and ANN algorithms exhibited good performance for identifying and mapping banana Fusarium wilt disease in UAV-based multi-spectral imagery.The overall accuracies of the SVM,RF,and ANN were 91.4%,90.0%,and 91.1%,respectively for the pixel-based approach.The RF algorithm required significantly less training time than the SVM and ANN algorithms.The maps generated by the SVM,RF,and ANN algorithms showed the areas of occurrence of Fusarium wilt disease were in the range of 5.21-5.75 hm2,accounting for 36.3%-40.1%of the total planting area of bananas in the study area.The results also showed that the inclusion of the red-edge band resulted in an increase in the overall accuracy of 2.9%-3.0%.A simulation of the resolutions of satellite-based imagery(i.e.,0.5 m,1 m,2 m,and 5 m resolutions)showed that imagery with a spatial resolution higher than 2 m resulted in good identification accuracy of Fusarium wilt.The results of this study demonstrate that the RF classifier is well suited for the identification and mapping of banana Fusarium wilt disease from UAV-based remote sensing imagery.The results provide guidance for disease treatment and crop planting adjustments. | Huichun Ye Wenjiang Huang Shanyu Huang Bei Cui Yingying Dong Anting Guo Yu Ren Yu Jin | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,3: | 3 |
| 8 | A microfluidic all-vanadium photoelectrochemical cell with a full-spectrum-responsive Ti2O3 photoanode for efficient solar energy storage显示文摘The all-vanadium photoelectrochemical cell is one of the promising solar energy storage technologies. However, conventional photoanodes surfer from low solar energy utilization efficiency as a result of narrow spectrum response and poor mass transfer.Hence, in this study, a microfluidic all-vanadium photoelectrochemical cell with a full-spectrum-responsive Ti2O3 photoanode was proposed for efficient solar energy storage. Experimental results indicated that the Ti2O3 photoanode responded to almost the full spectrum of sunlight and exhibited excellent photoresponse and operation stability, which facilitated efficient solar energy utilization. Additionally, the effects of the light intensity, vanadium ion concentration, and electrolyte flow rate were studied. It was found that increasing the light intensity and vanadium ion concentration and reducing the electrolyte flow rate promoted photoelectrochemical reactions and thus improved the solar energy storage performance. | 9 | Structural basis for the different states of the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 in complex with ACE2显示文摘Dear Editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has become a severe threat to global health.1 The spike(S)protein on the surface of SARS-CoV-2 exploits angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)as cellular receptor and mediates the fusion of the viral and the host cell membrane during infection.1,2 The activation of the S protein requires the receptor-binding domain(RBD)binding to the peptidase domain(PD)of ACE2 and the cleavage by host proteases into the N-terminal S1 subunit and the C-terminal S2 subunit.2,3,4 An additional furin cleavage site“RRAR”present in the S1/S2 cleavage region of SARS-CoV-2,which is absent in SARS-CoV that shares about 80%sequence identity with SARS-CoV-2 and caused an epidemic in 2002–2003,might help accelerate the activation of the S protein.S1 consists of the N-terminal domain(NTD),the RBD,subdomain 1 and 2(SD1 and SD2).The RBD adopts two distinct conformations:“up”and“down”.Only the“up”RBD exposes the receptor-binding site.S2,containing the hydrophobic fusion peptide,is responsible for the viral and cell membrane fusion.The molecular mechanism underlying the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 represents a critical clue for therapeutic development.Here we report the cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structures of trimeric extracellular domain of the S protein(hereinafter referred to as S)at multiple states and conformations,including the all RBD-locked,activated,S1/S2 trypsin-cleaved,PD of ACE2-bound,and the full-length ACE2-bound states.PD binds to the trimeric S protein with consistent interface,inducing conformational change at adjacent region.The trypsin-digested S protein tends to accommodate more PD molecules.Furthermore,the structure of the S–ACE2–B0AT1 ternary complex indicates that one ACE2 dimer binds two trimeric S proteins simultaneously.These results provide clues for the mechanism of the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2. | Renhong Yan Yuanyuan Zhang Yaning Li Fangfei Ye Yingying Guo Lu Xia Xinyue Zhong Ximin Chi Qiang Zhou | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,6: | 2 |

| 11 | Integrated Fertilization Regimes Boost Heavy Metals Accumulation and Biomass of Sedum alfredii Hance显示文摘The hyperaccumulator Sedum alfredii Hance(S.alfredii)may be employed for zinc(Zn)and cadmium(Cd)-polluted soil remediation.However,the low phytoremediation efficiency,related to the low biomass production,limits its use with that purpose.In this experiment,nitrogen(N),phosphorus(P),and potassium(K)fertilizers,and organic manure were applied to investigate the phytoremediation ability of S.alfredii.Hydroponic and pot experiments were conducted using Zn-Cd polluted soil.The hydroponic experiment indicated that appropriate fertilizer application could increase(p<0.05)the amount of accumulated Zn and Cd in S.alfredii.When N supply ranged from 0.5 to 2.5 mmol L^(−1),it could improve growth and accumulation of Zn and Cd in whole plants of S.alfredii.The 1 mmol L^(−1) N was an optimal N dosage for shoot biomass production and Cd accumulation in shoots,while the 2.5 mmol L^(−1) was an optimal N dosage for Zn accumulation in shoots.Both low(<0.05 mmol L^(−1))and high(>0.8 mmol L^(−1))P supply decreased growth,and Zn/Cd accumulation in whole plants of the studied species.The 0.1 mmol L^(−1) P was an optimal dosage for S.alfredii biomass production and Zn/Cd accumulation in shoots.The supply levels within the range from 0.3 to 1 mmol L^(−1) K could significantly improve the biomass production of S.alfredii and its capability to accumulate Zn and Cd in the biomass.The 0.5 mmol L^(−1) K was an optimal dosage for the whole biomass production and Zn accumulation in shoots,while the 1 mmol L^(−1) was an optimal K dosage for Zn accumulation in shoots,which was 17.2%higher than the control.Moreover,the soil pot experiment showed that the combination of organic(fermented manure)and inorganic fertilizers made significant effects on the Zn and Cd-polluted soil remediation by S.alfredii.These effects varied,however,with the application of different proportions of N,P,K and organic matter.The Zn accumulation by S.alfredii reached the highest efficiency ability under the highest fertilizer mixing rate(N:50 mg kg^(−1),P:40 mg kg^(−1),K:100 mg kg^(−1),organic matter:1%).Even more,S.alfredii showed the strongest ability to accumulate Cd with a lower fertilizer mixing rate(N:25mg kg^(−1),P:20mg kg^(−1),K:50 mg kg^(−1),organic matter:0.5%). | Kangning Zhou Yingying Zhang Jiasen Wu Chunying Dou Zihao Ye Zhengqian Ye Weijun Fu | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,4: | 2 |
