| 1 | High-resolution 3D crustal S-wave velocity structure of the MiddleLower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt and implications for its deep geodynamic setting显示文摘The Middle-Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt(MLYMB) is an important mineral resource region in China.High-resolution crustal models can provide crucial constraints to understand the ore-forming processes and geodynamic setting in this region. Using ambient seismic noise from 107 permanent and 82 portable stations in the MLYMB and the adjacent area,we present a new high-resolution 3D S-wave velocity model of this region. We first extract 5–50 s Rayleigh wave phase velocity dispersion data by calculating ambient noise cross-correlation functions(CFs) and then use the surface wave direct inversion method to invert the mixed path travel times for the 3D S-wave velocity structure. Checkerboard tests show that the horizontal resolution of the 3D S-wave velocity model is approximately 0.5°–1.0° and that the vertical resolution decreases with increasing noise and depth. Our high-resolution 3D S-wave velocity model reveals:(1) AV-shaped high-velocity zone(HVZ) is located in the lower crust and the uppermost mantle in the study region. The western branch of the HVZ passes through the Jianghan Basin,the Qinling-Dabie orogenic belt and the Nanxiang Basin. The eastern branch, which almost completely covers the main body of the MLYMB, is located near the Tanlu Fault. The low-velocity anomalies between the western and eastern branches are located in the area of the Qinling-Dabie orogenic belt.(2) High-velocity uplifts(HVUs) are common in the crust of the MLYMB,especially in the areas near the Tanlu Fault, the Changjiang Fault and the Yangxin-Changzhou Fault. The intensities of the HVUs gradually weaken from west to east. The V-shaped HVZ in the lower crust and uppermost mantle and the HVUs in the middle and lower crust likely represent cooled mantle intrusive rocks. During the Yanshanian period, fault systems formed in the MLYMB due to the convergence between the South China Plate and the North China Plate, the multiple-direction drifting of the PaleoPacific Plate and its subduction beneath the Eurasian Plate. The dehydration of the cold oceanic crust led to partial melting in the upper mantle. Temperature differences caused strong convection of the upper mantle material that underplated the lower crust and rose to near the surface along the deep fault systems. | 2 | Spatio-Temporal Impact of Rural Livelihood Capital on Labor Migra- tion in Panxi, Southwestern Mountainous Region of China显示文摘Labor migration to urban centers is a common phenomenon in the Panxi region of the southwestern mountainous region of China, mainly owing to inadequate livelihood capital in rural areas. Numerous studies have been conducted to explore the relationship between labor migration and its causes, such as individual and family characteristics, but few studies have focused on livelihood capital. This paper examines the impact factors on labor migration employment location selection and duration from a household livelihood capital perspective. A case study of 279 households from 10 villages in the area was carried out in February 2016. We used both qualitative and quantitative methods to analyze the data. On the basis of the 279 questionnaires, the proportion of households with non-labor migration is 48.4%, whereas households with labor migration within a local city and migration across regions account for 28.7% and 22.9%, respectively. Social, financial, and human capitals are the primary factors that influence migrants' employment location choice positively. Among them, social capital has a significant impact on both migration within a local city and across regions; each of the regression coefficients is 1.111 and 1.183. Social, human, and financial capitals also have a positive impact on the duration of labor migration, and similarly, social capital is the highest coefficient with 2.489. However, physical capital only partly impacts labor migration across regions, whereas the impact of labor migration within a local city, and the duration, are not significant. Furthermore, the impact of household natural capital on migration space and time are all negative relationships, especially for labor migration across the regions and duration, with coefficient scores of 4.836 and 3.450, respectively. That is to say, a laborer is inclined to migrate within a local city for a short term, or not migrate at all, if natural capital is abundant. | 3 | Quantitative analysis of the tribological properties of phosphate glass at the nano- and macro-scales显示文摘Processing(grinding,polishing)of phosphate laser(PL)glass involves material removal at two vastly different(spatial)scales.In this study,the nano‐and macro‐tribological properties of PL glass are investigated by rubbing the glass against a SiO_(2) counter‐surface in both dry and humid conditions.The results indicate that the friction of the PL glass/SiO_(2) pair has opposing trends at the nano‐and macroscales.At the nanoscale,the friction coefficient(COF)in humid air is much higher than in dry air,which is attributed to the capillary effect of the absorbed water‐film at the interface.At the macroscale,on the other hand,the COF in humid air is lower than in dry air,because the water‐related mechanochemical wear makes the worn surface less susceptible to cracking.Material removal for PL glass is better facilitated by humid air than by dry air at both scales,because the stress‐enhanced hydrolysis accelerates the material‐removal process in glass.Moreover,the material‐removal is more sensitive to contact pressure at the macroscale,because stronger mechanical‐interaction occurs during material removal at the macroscale with the multi asperity contact mode.At the macroscale,the material removal is more sensitive to contact pressure in humid air compared to dry air.Because almost all mechanical energy is used to remove material in humid air,and most of the mechanical energy is used to produce cracks in PL glass in dry air.The results of this study can help optimize the multi‐scale surface processing of optical glasses. | Huimin QI Wen HU Hongtu HE Yafeng ZHANG Chenfei SONG Jiaxin YU | 2021 | Friction2021,9,5: | 1 |
| 4 | Regeneration and utilization of nutrients during collapse of a Mesodinium rubrum red tide and its influence on phytoplankton species composition显示文摘High-biomass red tides occur frequently in some semi-enclosed bays of Hong Kong where ambient nutrients are not high enough to support such a high phytoplankton biomass. These high-biomass red tides release massive inorganic nutrients into local waters during their collapse. We hypothesized that the massive inorganic nutrients released from the collapse of red tides would fuel growth of other phytoplankton species. This could influence phytoplankton species composition. We tested the hypothesis using a red tide event caused by Mesodinium rubrum(M. rubrum) in a semi-enclosed bay, Port Shelter. The red tide patch had a cell density as high as 5.0×10~5 cells L^(-1), and high chlorophyll a(63.71 μg L^(-1)). Ambient inorganic nutrients(nitrate:NO_3^-, ammonium: NH_4^+, phosphate: PO_4^(3-), silicate: SiO_4^(3-)) were low both in the red tide patch and the non-red-tide patch(clear waters outside the red tide patch). Nutrient addition experiments were conducted by adding all the inorganic nutrients to water samples from the two patches followed by incubation for 9 days. The results showed that the addition of inorganic nutrients did not sustain high M. rubrum cell density, which collapsed after day 1, and did not drive M. rubrum in the non-red-tide patch sample to the same high-cell density in the red tide patch sample. This confirmed that nutrients were not the driving factor for the formation of this red tide event, or for its collapse. The death of M. rubrum after day 1 released high concentrations of NO_3^-,PO_4^(3-), SiO_4^(3-), NH_4^+, and urea. Bacterial abundance and heterotrophic activity increased, reaching the highest on day 3 or 4, and decreased as cell density of M. rubrum declined. The released nutrients stimulated growth of diatoms, such as Chaetoceros affinis var. circinalis, Thalassiothrix frauenfeldii, and Nitzschia sp., particularly with additions of SiO_4^(3-) treatments, and other species. | 7 | Development of the NWPU20 Micro Air Vehicle显示文摘This paper reports the design, construction, and operation of NWPU20 Micro Air Vehicle (MAV), which is the smallest that has, up to now, been developed in PR China. The miniaturization level in PR China makes smaller MAV, in our opinion, not possible to implement. The NWPU20 is a 20-centimeter span, battery powered, fixed-wing aircraft with an off-the-shelf color video camera that can transmit live video back to the ground station. The on-board electronic subsystems are smallest and lightest among the commercial products, including an 8-gram wireless video camera, an 8-gram receiver, a 5-gram electronic speed controller (ESC), two 4.5-gram fully proportional radio frequency control servos, and the total mass of NWPU20 is less than 80 grams. An experimental model was fabricated and tested in the Low Turbulent Flow Wind Tunnel (LTFWT) at Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) to research low Reynolds number flow characteristics of the NWPU20. The result of the wind tunnel test shows that stall angle of attack of NWPU20 can reach 30°, which is higher than that of the general aircrafts, and the maximum lift-to-drag ratio of NWPU20 can nearly reach 6 at the angle of attack of 10°, which can satisfy design requirements of the NWPU20. A small-sized propulsion/torque testing system was developed to measure and analyze the propulsion and torque performances of the motor-propeller combination used in the NWPU20. A center of gravity (c.g.) testing apparatus was developed and used to adjust the c.g. of the NWPU20 so that it has good longitudinal static stability and control. The NWPU20 prototype has undergone successfully flight tests many times; it flies at 32 kilometers per hour, with an endurance of 15 minutes, and a maximum communications range of 300 meters. With the color video camera, NWPU20 successfully transmits real-time video back to the ground station. | 10 | Urbanization and Its Impact on Rural Livelihoods:A Study of Xichang City Administration,Sichuan Province,China显示文摘This study examines urbanization in Xichang city administration(XCA)and its implications on rural livelihoods.Time series data on population size and land use(1990-2010)of Xichang city administration were gathered from population censuses and revenue records.The data were analyzed to observe changes in population size and land use/cover during the recorded period.Along with this,a case study of seven villages that are highly influenced by urban expansion in close proximity to Xichang city was carried out.We surveyed 110 households of selected villages using purposive-random sampling method and framed a structured questionnaire on urbanization implications for them.Descriptive statistics,correlation and regression model was employed to analyze the data.From 1990 to 2010,the authors observed an enormous transformation in urban landscapes as the urban area has increased by 14.02 km^(2)(111%)and about 20.65 km^(2)(16 times)increase in public transit construction land.On the other hand,paddy fields and grasslands of the selected villages have decreased by 16.6 km^(2)(4.9%)and 35.43 km^(2)(8.4%),respectively.Along with urbanization,out-migration as well as medical and educational facilities has increased while agriculture and livestock activities have decreased.The study suggested that to lessen the impact of urbanization in rural areas,agricultural and its allied practices should be intensified so as to augment employment and reduce out-migration from the rural areas. | Vishwambhar Prasad SATI DENG Wei LU Yafeng ZHANG Shaoyao WAN Jiangjun SONG Xueqian | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Urban and Environmental Studies2017,5,4: | 0 |

| 14 | Utilizing the capacity below 0 V to maximize lithium storage of hard carbon anodes显示文摘Compared with conventional graphite anode,hard carbons have the potential to make reversible lithium storage below 0 V accessible due to the formation of dendrites is slow.However,under certain conditions of high currents and lithiation depths,the irreversible plated lithium occurs and then results in the capacity losses.Herein,we systematically explore the true reversibility of hard carbon anodes below 0 V.We identify the lithiation boundary parameters that control the reversible capacity of hard carbon anodes.When the boundary capacity is controlled below 400 mAh g−1 with current density below 50 mA g−1,no lithium dendrites are observed during the lithiation process.Compared with the discharge cut-off voltage to 0 V,this boundary provides a nearly twice reversible capacity with the capacity retention of 80%after 172 cycles.The results of characterization and finite element model reveal that the large reversible capacity below 0 V of hard carbon anodes is mainly benefited from the dual effect of lithium intercalation and reversible lithium film.After the lithium intercalation,the over-lithiation induces the quick growth of lithium dendrites,worsening the electrochemical irreversibility.This work enables insights of the potentially low-voltage performance of hard carbons in lithium-ion batteries. | Qianlei Liu Liqin Dai Lijing Xie Zonglin Yi Mingxin Song Yafeng Fan Guohua Sun Fangyuan Su Cheng-Meng Chen | 2023 | Particuology2023,,12: | 0 |
