| 2 | Protective effect of periplaneta americana extract on intestinal mucosal barrier function in patients with sepsis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of the periplaneta americana extract on the intestinal mucosal barrier and prognostic implications in patients with sepsis. METHODS: Sixty and six patients with sepsis were assigned randomly to treatment group (32 cases) and control group (32 cases). The extractfrom periplaneta americana plus conventional medication for sepsis was administered to the treatment group, while the control group only received conventional treatment. The gastrointestinal function scores and acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II (APACHEⅡ) scores of all subjects were documented at baseline, at days 1, 3 and 7 after treatment respectively and their blood endotoxin was tested at the same time points as well.The incidence of death was recorded for both groups throughout the trial. RESULTS: At days 3 and 7 after treatment, gastroin-testinal function score, APACHE II, and endotoxin level in treatment group wasbetter than that in control group and the difference between them was significant (both P<0.05). Although the incidence of death in treatment group was less than that in control group, the difference between the two groups was not significant (P> 0.05). Application of BSA-Seq based on construction of reduced-representation libraries and allele frequency analysis permitted anchoring the barley pale-green(pg) gene on chromosome 3 HL. With further marker-assisted validation, pg was mapped to a 3.9 Mb physical-map interval. In the pg mutant a complete deletion of chlorophyllide a oxygenase(HvCAO) gene was identified.Because the product of this gene converts Chl a to Chl b, the pg mutant is deficient in Chl b.An independent Chl b-less mutant line M4437_2 carried a nonsynonymous substitution(F263 L) in the C domain of HvCAO. | 10 | Efficacy and safety of Liangxue Jiedu decoction for the treatment of progressive psoriasis vulgaris: a multicenter, randomized, controlled study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the clinical efficacy and safety of Liangxue Jiedu decoction(LJD) for the treatment of progressive psoriasis vulgaris and to provide the basis for the development of a standardized treatment protocol for psoriasis vulgaris.METHODS: In this multicenter, randomized, controlled study, patients with blood-heat type psoriasis were randomly assigned to receive either Chinese herbal medicine(LJD;treatment group) or Western Medicine(cetirizine hydrochloride, vitamin C, and vitamin B complex;control group). Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI) scores were calculated in addition to the number of patients who achieved ≥ 50% or ≥ 75% improvement in PASI score from baseline. The change in symptoms of Chinese medicine(color of rash, burning sensation,itchiness, severity of irritation, and anger) was evaluated and safety was assessed as adverse events and laboratory analysis. t test, independent sample non-parametric test and χ2 test were used to analyze the results.RESULTS: A total of 238 participants were included in the study [treatment group, n = 122(PP analysis117);control group, n = 116(PP analysis 104)]. LJD treatment was associated with a significant improvement in skin lesions and symptoms com-pared with Western Medicine treatment. At the end of the 8-week treatment period, 23.77%(PP analysis 24.79%) of patients in the treatment group had achieved PASI75 and 57.38%(PP analysis 58.97%)had achieved PASI50;the corresponding figures in the control group were 9.48%(9.62%) and 25.00%(25.00%), respectively. | 15 | Expression of S100A10 gene and its regulation by sex hormones in mouse uterus显示文摘S100A10 belongs to the S100 calcium binding protein superfamily, and functions as one of the mediators of calcium-dependent signaling pathway. Recently, S100A10 gene was proved to be significantly up-regulated at the implantation site. In the present study, semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction and in situ hybridization are used to investigate the tissue-specificity of S100A10 expression and the expression pattern of S100A10 in the uteri during the estrous cycle and pregnancy. Meanwhile, the regulation of S100A10 expression by sex steroid hormones is studied in ovariectomized mice. The results show that S100A10 could be detected in various kinds of tissues, with relatively high expression in reproductive tracts including ovary, uterus, testis and epididymis.During pregnancy, the expression of S100A10 in the uteri is significantly up-regulated on the 4th day. The transcript is strongly detected in endometrial stromal cells and weakly in luminal epithelium cells at the implantation site, but almost not at the inter-implantation site.From gestational day 5 till labor, S100A10 mRNA maintains a certain level in both uteri and placentae. During the estrous cycle, expression of S100A10 is up-regulated in the uteri at proestrus and estrus. Estradiol significantly induces the expression of S100A10, while progesterone can abolish the effect of estradiol. | 20 | Effectiveness of herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture on polycystic ovary syndrome in patients with symptom pattern of kidney deficiency and phlegm-dampness显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture on polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)in patients with symptom pattern of kidney deficiency and phlegm-dampness.METHODS:Totally 62 PCOS patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into intervention group and control group.In the intervention group,acupoints were subjected to(43±1)℃herb-partitioned moxibustion and electroacupuncture treatment.In the control group,acupoints were subjected to(37±1)℃herb-partitioned moxibustion and sham electroacupuncture treatment.Treatment was provided 3 times per week for 12 weeks,and the treatment was stopped during menstruation.After the treatment,the clinical efficacy,the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptom pattern score,basal body temperature(BBT)levels,menstrual cycle,and related sex hormone levels of the two groups were evaluated.RESULTS:Sixty patients were eventually included in the study(30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group).There were not obvious between-group differences in the baseline efficacy parameters(all P>0.05).(a)After treatment,the two groups have improved in terms of clinical efficacy,TCM symptom pattern score,menstrual cycle and,BBT(P<0.01,<0.05),and the intervention group was better than the control group(P<0.01,<0.05).(b)In the intervention group,the estradiol(E2)and P450 aromatase(P450 arom)levels were increased(all P<0.05),the testosterone(T)level was decreased(P<0.05),and the luteotropic hormone(LH)and anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH)levels were significantly decreased(P<0.01).In the control group,E2 level was increased(P<0.05),and LH level was decreased(P<0.05).After treatment,the T,LH,and AMH levels of the intervention group were decreased compared with those of the control group(all P<0.05),and the P450 arom level was increased(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture can effectively improve the related clinical symptoms of PCOS patients with kidney deficiency and phlegm-dampness.Herb-partitioned moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture may inhibit the overexpression of AMH to increase the expression level of P450 arom in ovarian granulosa cells,thereby reconstructing the dependence of follicular development on FSH,and finally improving abnormal follicular development and hyperandrogenism in PCOS patients with kidney deficiency and phlegmdampness. | ZHAO Qingyi SUN Yi ZHOU Jing GAO Yanling MA Guizhi HU Zhihai WANG Yi SHI Yin | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,6: | 1 |
