2Control of aliphatic halogenated DBP precursors with multiple drinking water treatment processes: Formation potential and integrated toxicity显示文摘The comprehensive control efficiency for the formation potentials(FPs) of a range of regulated and unregulated halogenated disinfection by-products(DBPs)(including carbonaceous DBPs(C-DBPs), nitrogenous DBPs(N-DBPs), and iodinated DBPs(I-DBPs)) with the multiple drinking water treatment processes, including pre-ozonation, conventional treatment(coagulation–sedimentation, pre-sand filtration), ozone-biological activated carbon(O_3-BAC) advanced treatment, and post-sand filtration, was investigated. The potential toxic risks of DBPs by combing their FPs and toxicity values were also evaluated.The results showed that the multiple drinking water treatment processes had superior performance in removing organic/inorganic precursors and reducing the formation of a range of halogenated DBPs. Therein, ozonation significantly removed bromide and iodide,and thus reduced the formation of brominated and iodinated DBPs. The removal of organic carbon and nitrogen precursors by the conventional treatment processes was substantially improved by O_3-BAC advanced treatment, and thus prevented the formation of chlorinated C-DBPs and N-DBPs. However, BAC filtration leads to the increased formation of brominated C-DBPs and N-DBPs due to the increase of bromide/DOC and bromide/DON.After the whole multiple treatment processes, the rank order for integrated toxic risk values caused by these halogenated DBPs was haloacetonitriles(HANs)》haloacetamides(HAMs) >haloacetic acids(HAAs) > trihalomethanes(THMs) > halonitromethanes(HNMs) 》I-DBPs(I-HAMs and I-THMs). I-DBPs failed to cause high integrated toxic risk because of their very low FPs. 3A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. 4The use of phase-change cooling strategy in proton exchange membrane fuel cells:A numerical study显示文摘Thermal management is considered a critical issue in proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs),since it not only influences the cell performance but also impacts PEMFC’s reliability and durability.With the ever-increasing power density of PEMFC,traditional cooling approaches including air cooling and water cooling become difficult to meet the demand for highpower heat dissipation.Therefore,phase-change cooling is proposed for fuel cell application in this work,and the potential advantages are discussed and demonstrated via a mathematical model incorporating phase-change heat transfer.The thermal management performance is evaluated by temperature uniformity,maximum temperature difference,and the cooling capacity to compare the difference between phase-change cooling and traditional methods,which demonstrates that phase-change cooling owns a greatly improved thermal management performance.In addition,a simple method to broaden the operating temperature of phase-change cooling based on one certain coolant is offered,which is pressurizing in the coolant channel to regulate the boiling temperature that could further improve the application feasibility of phase-change cooling strategy in fuel cells.YAN XiaoHui PENG YiMeng SHEN YuanTing SHEN ShuiYun WEI GuangHua YIN JieWei ZHANG JunLiang 2021Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,12:4
5Adaptive image enhancement algorithm based on fuzzy entropy and human visual characteristics显示文摘To overcome the shortcomings of the Lee image enhancement algorithm and its improvement based on the logarithmic image processing(LIP) model, this paper proposes what we believe to be an effective image enhancement algorithm. This algorithm introduces fuzzy entropy, makes full use of neighborhood information, fuzzy information and human visual characteristics.To enhance an image, this paper first carries out the reasonable fuzzy-3 partition of its histogram into the dark region, intermediate region and bright region. It then extracts the statistical characteristics of the three regions and adaptively selects the parameter αaccording to the statistical characteristics of the image's gray-scale values. It also adds a useful nonlinear transform, thus increasing the ubiquity of the algorithm. 6Optimization of the thermoelectric properties of poly(nickel-ethylenetetrathiolate) synthesized via potentiostatic deposition显示文摘The coordination polymer poly(nickel-ethylenetetrathiolate)(poly(Ni-ett)), formed by nickel(II) and 1,1,2,2-ethenetetrathiolate(ett), is the most promising N-type organic thermoelectric material ever reported; it is synthesized via potentiostatic deposition,and the effect of different applied potentials on the optimal performance of the polymers is investigated. The optimal thermoelectric property of poly(Ni-ett) synthesized at 0.6 V is remarkably greater than that of the polymers synthesized at 1 and 1.6 V, exhibiting a maximum power factor of up to 131.6 μW/mK^2 at 360 K. Furthermore, the structure-property correlation of poly(Ni-ett) is also extensively investigated. 7Objective assessment of bradykinesia in Parkinson’s disease using evolutionary algorithms:clinical validation显示文摘Background:There is an urgent need for developing objective,effective and convenient measurements to help clinicians accurately identify bradykinesia.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of an objective approach assessing bradykinesia in finger tapping(FT)that uses evolutionary algorithms(EAs)and explore whether it can be used to identify early stage Parkinson’s disease(PD).Methods:One hundred and seven PD,41 essential tremor(ET)patients and 49 normal controls(NC)were recruited.Participants performed a standard FT task with two electromagnetic tracking sensors attached to the thumb and index finger.Readings from the sensors were transmitted to a tablet computer and subsequently analyzed by using EAs.The output from the device(referred to as'PD-Monitor')scaled from−1 to+1(where higher scores indicate greater severity of bradykinesia).Meanwhile,the bradykinesia was rated clinically using the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale(MDS-UPDRS)FT item.Results:With an increasing MDS-UPDRS FT score,the PD-Monitor score from the same hand side increased correspondingly.PD-Monitor score correlated well with MDS-UPDRS FT score(right side:r=0.819,P=0.000;left side:r=0.783,P=0.000).Moreover,PD-Monitor scores in 97 PD patients with MDS-UPDRS FT bradykinesia and each PD subgroup(FT bradykinesia scored from 1 to 3)were all higher than that in NC.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves revealed that PD-Monitor FT scores could detect different severity of bradykinesia with high accuracy(≥89.7%)in the right dominant hand.Furthermore,PD-Monitor scores could discriminate early stage PD from NC,with area under the ROC curve greater than or equal to 0.899.Additionally,ET without bradykinesia could be differentiated from PD by PD-Monitor scores.A positive correlation of PD-Monitor scores with modified Hoehn and Yahr stage was found in the left hand sides.Conclusions:Our study demonstrated that a simple to use device employing classifiers derived from EAs could not only be used to accurately measure different severity of bradykinesia in PD,but also had the potential to differentiate early stage PD from normality.Chao Gao Stephen Smith Michael Lones Stuart Jamieson Jane Alty Jeremy Cosgrove Pingchen Zhang Jin Liu Yimeng Chen Juanjuan Du Shishuang Cui Haiyan Zhou Shengdi Chen 2018Translational Neurodegeneration2018,7,1:3
8Pattern transition and sluggish cracking of colloidal droplet deposition with polymer additives显示文摘Drying of colloidal droplets often develops versatile depositions.We study the drying deposition of both colloidal droplets containing silica nanoparticles and the silica colloidal droplets with polyethylene oxide(PEO) additives.We focus on the effect of polymer additives on the deposition formation and the cracking dynamics by using in-situ microscope observation.With PEO additives,a transition from ring-like deposition to uniform deposition is observed,and the cracking dynamics is greatly reduced.The PEO additives enhance the adsorption of particles at the air-water interface,thus forming the network structure at the interface which blocks the outward capillary flow.This contributes to the uniform deposition.Meanwhile,the multi-distribution of the aggregates size enhances the non-homogeneity of the drying film and consequently results in multi-nucleation of cracks.This reduces the stress accumulation that drives the crack propagation and may be responsible for the sluggish cracking dynamics.ZHANG YongJian LIU ZhengTang ZANG DuYang QIAN YiMeng LIN KeJun 2013Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2013,56,9:2

10Musk secretion in muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.):association with lipid and cholesterol metabolism-related pathways显示文摘Male muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.)secrete musk from their scent glands during musk secretion season.Musk plays an important role as a communication pheromone during the breeding season.In this study,gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS)was used to analyze the main components of musk.The GC–MS results after methyl esterification showed that 71.55%of the musk is composed of fatty acids.The other components of muskrat musk include cholesterol(9.31%)and other organics.Transcriptome comparison between musk secretion and non-secretion seasons showed significant changes in the scent glands for 53 genes involved in fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis and metabolism regulatory pathways,which include fatty acid biosynthesis,elongation,and metabolism;steroid biosynthesis;steroid hormone biosynthesis pathways.A reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction analysis confirmed these detected changes.Overall,our results indicated that lipid synthesis and metabolism play important roles in musk compound synthesis by providing energy for musk production,and the produced musk provides a mechanism for male muskrats to communicate with females during the breeding season.TIANXIANG ZHANG MEISHAN ZHANG MINGHUI SHI WEIJIANG JIN SHUMIAO ZHANG MENGYUAN FAN YIMENG LI YUPING MENG XUELIN TIAN SHUQIANG LIU DEFU HU 2021BIOCELL2021,45,2:2
11Influence of the Axial Position of the Guide Vane on the Fluctuations of Pressure in a Nuclear Pump显示文摘The influence of the axial mount position of the guide vane on the pressure fluctuation in a nuclear pump(AP1000)is investigated.The characteristics of the three-dimensional flow inside the nuclear pump are analyzed by means of numerical simulation.Results indicate that when the axial relative distance between the guide vane and the pumping chamber is reduced,in conditions of“small flow,”the efficiency of the pump increases,the pressure inside the pumping chamber decreases,while the losses related to the guide vane grow.Under large flow conditions,as the efficiency of the pump decreases,the losses for the guide vane and the pumping chamber increase.The pressure fluctuation in the annular pumping chamber is basically determined by the rotation frequency and the blade passing frequency.The magnitude of these fluctuations is affected by the guide vane axial position.In particular,the smallest possible amplitude is obtained when the outlet central plane of the guide vane coincides with the outlet axis of the pumping chamber.Xiaorui Cheng Yimeng Jiang Min Li Shuyan Zhang 2020Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2020,16,5:2

13High-efficiency green micro-LEDs with GaN tunnel junctions grown hybrid by PA-MBE and MOCVD显示文摘We fabricated p-i-n tunnel junction(TJ)contacts for hole injection on c-plane green micro-light-emitting diodes(micro-LEDs)by a hybrid growth approach using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PA-MBE)and metal–organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD).The TJ was formed by an MBE-grown ultra-thin unintentionally doped In Ga N polarization layer and an n^(++)∕n^(+)-GaN layer on the activated p^(++)-Ga N layer prepared by MOCVD.This hybrid growth approach allowed for the realization of a steep doping interface and ultrathin depletion width for efficient inter-band tunneling.Compared to standard micro-LEDs,the TJ micro-LEDs showed a reduced device resistance,enhanced electroluminescence intensity,and a reduced efficiency droop.The size-independent J-V characteristics indicate that TJ could serve as an excellent current spreading layer.All these results demonstrated that hybrid TJ contacts contributed to the realization of high-performance micro-LEDs with long emission wavelengths.YAOZHENG WU BIN LIU FEIFAN XU YIMENG SANG TAO TAO ZILI XIE KE WANG XIANGQIAN XIU PENG CHEN DUNJUN CHEN HAI LU RONG ZHANG YOUDOU ZHENG 2021Photonics Research2021,9,9:2

16Fabrication of a monolithic 4H-SiC junction barrier schottky diode with the capability of high current显示文摘There is a great interest in monolithic 4H-Si C Junction Barrier Schottky(JBS) diodes with the capability of a high forward current for industrial power applications.In this paper,we report large-area monolithic 4H-Si C JBS diodes fabricated on a 10 μm 4H-Si C epitaxial layer doped to 6×1015 cm3.JBS diodes with an active area of 30 mm2 had a forward current of up to 330 A at a forward voltage of 5 V,which corresponds to a current density of 1100 A/cm2.A near ideal breakdown voltage of 1.6 k V was also achieved for a reverse current of up to 100 A through the use of an optimum multiple floating guard rings(MFGR) termination,which is about 87.2% of the theoretical value.The differential specific-on resistance(RSP-ON) was measured to be 3.3 m cm2,leading to a FOM(VB2/RSP-ON) value of 0.78 GW/cm2,which is very close to the theoretical limit of the tradeoff between the specific-on resistance and breakdown voltage for 4H-Si C unipolar devices.SONG QingWen YUAN Hao HAN Chao ZHANG YuMing TANG XiaoYan ZHANG YiMeng GUO Hui ZHANG YiMen JIA RenXu WANG YueHu 2015Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,8:2
17Effects of proton radiation on field limiting ring edge terminations in 4H–SiC junction barrier Schottky diodes显示文摘In this study, the effects of high-energy proton radiation on the effectiveness of edge terminations using field limiting rings(FLRs) in 4 H–SiC junction barrier Schottky(JBS) diodes were examined in detail. The devices were irradiated using 5-MeV protons at fluences ranging from 5×10^12 cm^-2 to 5×10^14 cm^-2. Further, the reverse breakdown performances of the investigated devices were measured both before and after irradiation. Proton irradiation initially decreased the breakdown voltage(BV);subsequently, the BV was increased as the proton fluence increased. At a fluence of 5×10^13 cm^-2, the BV was reduced by approximately 18%, whereas it was reduced by approximately 5% at a higher proton fluence of 5×10^14 cm^-2. The related degradation mechanism that was associated with this phenomenon was also investigated using the numerical simulations of the current-voltage(I-V) and capacitance-voltage(C-V) characteristics of the device. The main contribution to the radiation-induced changes in BV originates from the variations of charge distribution at the SiO2/4 H–SiC interface and the reduction of the net carrier density in the drift region. 20Balancing benefits of strength,plasticity and glass-forming ability in Co-based metallic glasses显示文摘Development of advanced metals materials with ultrahigh strength,large plasticity and high thermostability is one of the most attractive aims for materials researchers.Co-based bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)with the highest strength(up to 6 GPa)and special strength(up to 650 Nm/g)among all of metals materials so far we known have received extensive attentions.In this paper,a family of Co-Ta-B-Si BMGs with high glass-transition temperature(above 870 K),large compressive plasticity(up to 6.4%)and high strength(above 5.5 GPa),and high glass-forming ability(the critical diameter,Dc:up to 4 mm)was developed by accurately tuning metalloid element contents of Si and B in the parental alloy of Co_(55)Ta_(10)B_(35).The changes of glass formation and plasticity caused by the adjustment of the constituent metalloid elements were evaluated by the combination of experimental and calculated results.The reason for the significant improvement of plastic deformation is revealed by the analysis of the self-organization behaviors of high-density shear bands.Yimeng Zhao Xuan Li Xiaobin Liu Jiazi Bi Yang Wu Ruijuan Xiao Ran Li Tao Zhang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,27:1
