2Typing of biliary tumor thrombus influences the prognoses of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Objective:To establish a new classification of biliary tumor thrombus(BTT).Methods:Overall survival of patients with BTT was first used to determine whether it correlated with current hepatocellular carcinoma staging systems.Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to determine factors affecting the overall survival(OS)to form the basis of our new classification for BTT.Results:All 6 international staging systems showed overlapping survival curves.Univariate followed by multivariate analyses showed that total bilirubin and intrahepatic/extrahepatic BTT were significant risk factors of OS.Based on these data,a new BTT classification was defined as:TypeⅠ:intrahepatic BTT;and TypeⅡ:extrahepatic BTT involving a common bile duct or common hepatic duct.TypeⅠwas further subdivided into type Ia:BTT involving a second-order intrahepatic duct or above,and type Ib:BTT involving a first-order intrahepatic duct.TypeⅡwas further subdivided into typeⅡa and typeⅡb using a cut-off total bilirubin(TB)>300μmol/L.The numbers(percentages)of patients with typesⅠandⅡBTT were 69(34.2%)and 133(65.8%),respectively.The median OS of typeⅠpatients was significantly higher than that of typeⅡpatients(37.5 months vs.23.2 months;P=0.002).Using subgroup analyses,OS outcomes were significantly different between the subgroups of typeⅡb and type IIa,although there was no significant difference between the type Ia and type Ib subgroups(P=0.07).Conclusions:A new BTT classification was established to predict prognoses of HCC patients with BTT who underwent liver resection.Juxian Sun Jiayi Wu Chang Liu Jie Shi Yonggang Wei Jianyin Zhou Zhibo Zhang Wan Yee Lau Maolin Yan Shuqun Cheng 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3:3
3Numerical study on dynamic mechanism of brain volume and shear deformation under blast loading显示文摘Blast-induced traumatic brain injury(b-TBI)is a kind of significant injury to soldiers in the current military conflicts.However,the mechanism of b-TBI has not been well understood,and even there are some contradictory conclusions.It is crucial to reveal the dynamic mechanism of brain volume and shear deformations under blast loading for better understanding of b-TBI.In this paper,the numerical simulation method is adopted to carry out comprehensive and in-depth researches on this issue for the first time.Based on the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method,the fluid-structure coupling model of the blast wave and human head is developed to simulate two situations,namely the head subjected to the frontal and lateral impacts.The simulation results are analyzed to obtain the underlying dynamic mechanisms of brain deformation.The brain volume deformation is dominated by the local bending vibration of the skull,and the corresponding frequency for the forehead skull under the frontal impact and the lateral skull faced to the lateral impact is as high as 8 kHz and 5 kHz,respectively.This leads to the high-frequency fluctuation of brain pressure and the large pressure gradient along the skull,totally different from the dynamic response of brain under head collisions.While the brain shear deformation mainly depends on the relative tangential displacement between the skull and brain and the anatomical structure of inner skull,being not related to the brain pressure and its gradient.By further comparing the medical statistics,it is inferred that diffuse axonal injury and brain contusion,the two most common types of b-TBI,are mainly attributed to brain shear deformations.And the von Mises stress can be adopted as the indicator for these two brain injuries.This study can provide theoretical guidance for the diagnosis of b-TBI and the development of protective equipment.Zhijie Li Zhibo Du Xiaochuan You Zhanli Liu Jian Cheng Chengcheng Luo Dongyang Chu Shaowu Ning Yue Kang Ce Yang Zhuo Zhuang 2019Acta Mechanica Sinica2019,35,5:3
4RNA-Seq Study Reveals AP2-Domain-Containing Signalling Regulators Involved in Initial Imbibition of Seed Germination in Rice显示文摘A number of internal signals are required for seed germination.However,the precise signalling responses in the initial imbibition of seed germination are not yet fully understood in rice.In this study,the RNA sequencing(RNA-Seq)approach was conducted in 8 h imbibed seeds to understand the signalling responses in the initial imbibition of rice seed germination.A total of 563 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)with at least 4-fold change were identified in 8 h imbibed seeds compared to dry seeds.MapMan analysis revealed that the majority of signalling response-related DEGs were hormone-and transcription factor-related genes,in which the largest number of DEGs belong to the AP2-domain-containing regulators,and their expressions were significantly induced in the initial imbibition of seed germination in rice.Moreover,at least five AP2-domain-containing transcription factor OsDREBs were identified in the initial imbibition of rice seed germination,and the expressions of 251 DEGs were putatively regulated by OsDREBs through the dehydration-responsive element(DRE)cis-element assay.It suggested that the OsDREBs might play important roles in the regulation of initial seed imbibition in rice.The identified genes provide a valuable resource to study the signalling regulation of seed germination in the future.HE Yongqi ZHAO Jia FENG Defeng HUANG Zhibo LIANG Jiaming ZHENG Yufei CHENG Jinping YING Jifeng WANG Zhoufei 2020Rice science2020,27,4:2
5Soil aggregation and aggregate-associated organic carbon under typical natural halophyte communities in arid saline areas of Northwest China显示文摘Information on the effects of halophyte communities on soil organic carbon(SOC)is useful for sequestrating C in arid regions.In this study,we identified four typical natural halophyte communities in the Manasi River Basin in Xinjiang Province,Northeast China,namely,Karelinia caspia(Pall.)Less.,Bassia dasyphylla(Fisch.et C.A.Mey.)Kuntze,Haloxylon ammodendron(C.A.Mey.)Bunge,and Tamarix ramosissima Lour.We compared soil aggregation and aggregated-associated SOC under these communities.The aggregate fraction of 0.053–0.25 mm accounted for 47%–75%of the total soil mass,significantly more than the>0.25 and<0.053 mm fractions,under all the halophyte communities.Significant differences in soil aggregate size distribution were observed among the plant communities,with the H.ammodendron and B.dasyphylla communities showing the highest proportions of>0.25 mm aggregates(13.3%–43.8%)and T.ramosissima community having more<0.053 mm aggregates(14.1%–27.2%).Aggregate-associated SOC concentrations were generally the highest in the>0.25 mm fraction,followed by the<0.053 mm fraction,and were the lowest in the 0.053–0.25 mm fraction;however,because of their large mass,0.25–0.053 mm aggregates contributed significantly more to the total SOC.Total SOC concentrations(0–60 cm depth)decreased in the order of H.ammodendron(5.7 g kg^-1)>T.ramosissima(4.9 g kg^-1)>K.caspia(4.2 g kg^-1)>B.dasyphylla(3.4 g kg^-1).The H.ammodendron community had the highest total SOC and aggregate-associated SOC,which was primarily because aggregate-associated SOC content at the 0–10 and 10–20 cm depths under this community were higher than those under other plant communities.The H.ammodendron community could be beneficial for increasing SOC in saline soils in the arid region.Zhibo CHENG Jingya WANG William JGALE Haichang YANG Fenghua ZHANG 2020Pedosphere2020,30,2:1

9Compensation method for performance degradation of optically addressed spatial light modulator induced by CW laser显示文摘In this paper,we propose an effective method to compensate for the performance degradation of optically addressed spatial light modulators(OASLMs).The thermal deposition problem usually leads to the on-off ratio reduction of amplitude OASLM,so it is difficult to achieve better results in high-power laser systems.Through the analysis of the laser-induced temperature rise model and the liquid crystal layer voltage model,it is found that reducing the driving voltage of the liquid crystal light valve and increasing the driving current of the optical writing module can compensate for the decrease of on-off ratio caused by temperature rise.This is the result of effectively utilizing the photoconductive effect of Bi_(12)SiO_(20)(BSO)crystal.The experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method and increase the laser withstand power of amplitude-only OASLM by about a factor of 2.5.Tongyao Du Dajie Huang He Cheng Wei Fan Zhibo Xing Xuechun Li Jianqiang Zhu 2022High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,1:1
10Defects boost graphitization for highly conductive graphene films显示文摘Fabricating highly crystalline macroscopic films with extraordinary electrical and thermal conductivities from graphene sheets is essential for applications in electronics,telecommunications and thermal management.High-temperature graphitization is the only method known to date for the crystallization of all types of carbon materials,where defects are gradually removed with increasing temperature.However,when using graphene materials as precursors,including graphene oxide,reduced graphene oxide and pristine graphene,even lengthy graphitization at 3000℃can only produce graphene films with small grain sizes and abundant structural disorders,which limit their conductivities.Here,we show that high-temperature defects substantially accelerate the grain growth and ordering of graphene films during graphitization,enabling ideal AB stacking as well as a 100-fold,64-fold and 28-fold improvement in grain size,electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity,respectively,between 2000℃and 3000℃.This process is realized by nitrogen doping,which retards the lattice restoration of defective graphene,retaining abundant defects such as vacancies,dislocations and grain boundaries in graphene films at a high temperature.With this approach,a highly ordered crystalline graphene film similar to highly oriented pyrolytic graphite is fabricated,with electrical and thermal conductivities(~2.0×10~4 S cm~(-1);~1.7×10~3 W m~(-1)K~(-1))that are improved by about 6-and 2-fold,respectively,compared to those of the graphene films fabricated by graphene oxide.Such graphene film also exhibits a superhigh electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness of~90 dB at a thickness of 10μm,outperforming all the synthetic materials of comparable thickness including MXene films.This work not only paves the way for the te chnological application of highly conductive graphene films but also provides a general strategy to efficiently improve the synthesis and properties of other carbon materials such as graphene fibers,carbon nanotube fibers,carbon fibers,polymer-derived graphite and highly oriented pyrolytic graphite.Qing Zhang Qinwei Wei Kun Huang Zhibo Liu WeiMa Zehui Zhang Yanfeng Zhang Hui-Ming Cheng Wencai Ren 2023National Science Review2023,10,7:1

12Facile hydrothermal and sol-gel synthesis of novel Sn-Co/C composite as superior anodes for Li-ion batteries显示文摘As an anode material in lithium ion battery,the Sn-Co/C composite electrode materials have been successfully synthesized by hydrothermal and sol-gel methods,respectively.The resultant composites were mainly composed of Sn-based oxides,nanometer Sn-Co alloy and carbon.Carbon and Co,acting as buffer materials,can accommodate to the large volume change of active Sn during the discharge-charge process,thus improving the cycling stability.Although charge/discharge curves revealed the excellent cycle performance for samples synthesized by both methods,composites obtained by the sol-gel showed a better dispersion effect of nanoparticles on the carbon matrix and possessed much more improved stable capacity with*624.9 mAh g-1over 100 cycles and that by hydrothermal method only exhibited*299.3 mAh g-1.Therefore,the Sn-Co/C composites obtained by sol-gel synthesis method could be a perfect candidate for anode material of Li-ion storage battery.Xiaoli Zou Xianhua Hou Zhibo Cheng Yanling Huang Min Yue Shejun Hu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,23:1
13Defective graphene as a high-efficiency Raman enhancement substrate显示文摘Pristine graphene (PG) has been demonstrated to be an excellent substrate for Raman enhancement, which is called graphene-enhanced Raman scattering. However, the chemically inert and hydrophobic surface of PG hinders the adsorption of molecules especially in aqueous solutions, and consequently limits the Raman enhanced efficiency. Here, we synthesized defective graphene (DG) films by chemical vapor deposition on Au, which has a defect density of ~2.0 ×10^11 cm^-2. The DG shows a much better wettability than PG towards dye solution. Combining with the strong adsorption ability of defects to molecules, DG shows greatly enhanced efficiency than PG with perfect lattice. For example, the detection limit for rhodamine B can reach 2×10^9 M for DG while it is on the order of 10^-7 M for PG. In addition, DG has high enhancement uniformity and the Au substrate can be reused after electrochemical bubbling transfer. 14Two-dimensional superconducting MoSi_(2)N_(4)(MoN)_(4n)homologous compounds显示文摘The number and stacking order of layers are two important degrees of freedom that can modulate the properties of 2D van der Waals(vdW)materials.However,the layers'structures are essentially limited to the known layered 3D vdW materials.Recently,a new 2D vdW material,MoSi_(2)N_(4),without known 3D counterparts,was synthesized by passivating the surface dangling bonds of non-layered 2D molybdenum nitride with elemental silicon,whose monolayer can be viewed as a monolayer MoN(-N-Mo-N-)sandwiched between two Si-N layers.This unique sandwich structure endows the MoSi_(2)N_(4)monolayer with many fascinating properties and intriguing applications,and the surface-passivating growth method creates the possibility of tuning the layer's structure of 2D vdW materials.Here we synthesized a series of MoSi_(2)N_(4)(MoN)_(4n)structures confined in the matrix of multilayer MoSi_(2)N_(4).These super-thick monolayers are the homologous compounds of MoSi_(2)N_(4),which can be viewed as multilayer MoN(Mo_(4n+1)N_(4n+2))sandwiched between two Si-N layers.First-principles calculations show that MoSi_(2)N_(4)(MoN)_(4)monolayers have much higher Young's modulus than Mo N,which is atributed to the strong Si-N bonds on the surface.Importantly,different from the semiconducting nature of the Mo Si_(2)N_(4)monolayer,the MoSi_(2)N_(4)(MoN)_(4)monolayer is identified as a superconductor with a transition temperature of 9.02 K.The discovery of MoSi_(2)N_(4)(MoN)_(4n)structures not only expands the family of 2D materials but also brings a new degree of freedom to tailor the structure of 2D vd W materials,which may lead to unexpected novel properties and applications.Zhibo Liu Lei Wang Yi-Lun Hong Xing-Qiu Chen Hui-Ming Cheng Wencai Ren 2023National Science Review2023,10,4:0

16EVs-mediated delivery of CB2 receptor agonist for Alzheimer’s disease therapy显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a typical neurodegenerative disease that leads to irreversible neuronal degeneration,and effective treatment remains elusive due to the unclear mechanism.We utilized biocompatible mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles as carriers loaded with the CB2 target medicine AM1241(EVs-AM1241)to protect against neurodegenerative progression and neuronal function in AD model mice.According to the results,EVs-AM1241 were successfully constructed and exhibited better bioavailability and therapeutic effects than bare AM1241.The Morris water maze(MWM)and fear conditioning tests revealed that the learning and memory of EVs-AM1241-treated model mice were significantly improved.In vivo electrophysiological recording of CA1 neurons indicated enhanced response to an auditory conditioned stimulus following fear learning.Immunostaining and Western blot analysis showed that amyloid plaque deposition and amyloidβ(Aβ)-induced neuronal apoptosis were significantly suppressed by EVs-AM1241.Moreover,EVs-AM1241 increased the number of neurons and restored the neuronal cytoskeleton,indicating that they enhanced neuronal regeneration.RNA sequencing revealed that EVs-AM1241 facilitated Aβphagocytosis,promoted neurogenesis and ultimately improved learning and memory through the calcium-Erk signaling pathway.Our study showed that EVs-AM1241 efficiently reversed neurodegenerative pathology and enhanced neurogenesis in modelmice,indicating that they are very promising particles for treating AD.Yanjing Zhu Ruiqi Huang Deheng Wang Liqun Yu Yuchen Liu Runzhi Huang Shuai Yin Xiaolie He Bairu Chen Zhibo Liu Liming Cheng Rongrong Zhu 2023Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2023,18,4:0

18Pancreatic cancer with ovarian metastasis: cases report and literature review显示文摘Background: Pancreatic cancer with ovarian metastases is rare and easily misdiagnosed. Patients with ovarian metastases are first diagnosed with ovarian cancer and may miss the opportunity to receive surgical operation. We report 7 rare cases of ovarian metastases secondary to pancreatic adenocarcinoma and review the literature to analyze clinical characteristics, diagnostic methods, and potential therapeutic strategies for the rare malignancy.Cases Summary: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 7 female patients with ovarian metastases of primary pancreatic cancer who were admitted to our hospital from January 01, 1985, to April 1, 2020. These 7 patients were diagnosed with ovarian metastasis at an average age of 52.28 (38-69) years. The reason for the patient’s visit was generally a mass in the lower abdomen and/or abdominal pain. Six of them had significantly higher serum Carbohydrate antigen19-9 (CA19-9) levels, 6 patients had pancreatic tumors located in the body or tail, and 1 patient had one in the head of the pancreas. All patients underwent excision of ovarian tumors and resection or biopsy of pancreatic tumors. Five patients had pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), and 2 had pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma (PCC), all of which were revealed by the pathological results. Ovarian tumors were assessed by pathology and were consistent with pancreatic metastasis. Currently, all 7 patients have died (follow-up to January 2, 2021). The median survival time for all patients was 13.7 months (2.9-27 months).Conclusions: For this rare tumor, elevated serum CA19-9 may indicate that the primary lesion is in the pancreas. Enhanced pancreatic Computed Tomography (CT) can facilitate diagnostic localization.
