| 11 | Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Cross-Laminated Timber with Different Lay-ups Using Japanese Larch显示文摘Japanese larch is one of the main plantation tree species in China.A lack of engineered wood products made by Japanese larch,however,limits its application in wood stnuctures.In this study,based on optimum process parameters,such as pressure(12 MPa),adhesive spread rate(200 g/m^(2))and adhesive(one-component polyurethane),the mechanical properties of Japanese larch-made cross-laminated timber(CLT)with different lay-ups were evaluated by means of the static method.Results of this study showed that variations in lay-ups significantly affected the mechanical properties of CLT.The strength and modulus of bending and parallel compression for CLT increased with the thickness of lumber,while that of bending,parallel compression and rolling shear all decreased with the number of layers.Thickness,layup orientation and the number of layers all had an impact on the strength of CLT.Failure modes obtained from numerical simulation were basically the same as those of experimental tests.There was also strong alignment between theoretical value and test value for effective bending stifness and shear stifness.Thus,the shear analogy method can be used to predict the mechanical properties of CLT effectively.This study proved great potential in using Japanese larch wood for manufacturing CLT due to its good mechanical properties. | Yingchun Gong Fenglu Liu Zhaopeng Tian Guofang Wu Haiqing Ren Cheng Guan | 2019 | Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,10: | 1 |

| 13 | Efficient solar cells based on cosensitizing porphyrin dyes containing a wrapped donor, a wrapped π-framework and a substituted benzothiadiazole unit显示文摘Three new porphyrin dyes XW45-XW47 have been synthesized employing a dialkoxy-wrapped phenothiazine donor, a tetraalkoxy-wrapped porphyrin π-framework, a benzothiadiazole(BTD)-based auxiliary acceptor, and an anchoring benzoic acid group. On the basis of our previously reported dye XW36, XW45 was synthesized by introducing a BTD unit to broaden the absorption spectrum, further introducing a hexyl-substituent into the BTD unit afforded XW46, and an additional fluorine atom was introduced to the carboxyphenyl acceptor to afford XW47. As expected, the BTD unit obviously broadens and red-shifts the absorption threshold of XW45-XW47 to ca.750 nm. Dye-sensitized solar cells(DSSCs) were fabricated based on a cobalt electrolyte using chenodeoxycholic acid(CDCA) as the coadsorbent. Under full sun illumination, XW45 exhibits an efficiency of 9.73%, which is slightly lower than that of 10.19% obtained for the reference dye SM315. By contrast, XW46 and XW47 show higher efficiencies than SM315 owing to the improved anti-aggregation ability associated with the hexyl group on the BTD unit and better ICT effect induced by the fluorine atom on the carboxyphenyl unit. Thus, XW47 exhibits the highest efficiency of 10.41% among the porphyrin dyes. Furthermore, PT-C6 was used as the cosensitizer to improve the light harvesting ability and efficiencies of the cells due to its broad absorption within 350–560 nm. Thus, high efficiencies of 10.32%, 11.38% and 10.90% were achieved for the cosensitized solar cells based on XW45–XW47, respectively, owing to the obviously enhanced photocurrent density(JSC). In addition, under 30% full sun illumination, XW46+PT-C6 exhibits a high efficiency of 13.08%. | 18 | Effect of vortex dynamics and instability characteristics on the induced drag of trailing vortices显示文摘In this paper, trailing vortices generated by three wingtip configurations, namely the M6wing and the M6 wing with a blended or split winglet, are experimentally investigated using the Stereo Particle Image Velocimetry(SPIV) technology. Then, linear stability analysis is performed to investigate instability characteristics. Three corresponding trailing vortex patterns, including the isolated trailing vortex without wake(pattern v) and with wake(pattern v-w), co-rotating vortex pair(pattern v-v), are observed in experiments. The strength of trailing vortices, characterized by circulation, is reduced after installing winglets as expected, and the strength of pattern v-v can be further suppressed compared with pattern v-w. Moreover, instability characteristics, such as the eigenvalue spectrum and perturbation mode, are distinctive among these three vortex patterns.The distribution of eigenvalue spectrums indicates that pattern v and pattern v-w are temporally“marginally stable”, while pattern v-v is temporally “unstable.” The primary perturbation mode of pattern v and pattern v-w is the m =-1 helical mode, while |m|>1 for the case of pattern v-v.The effect of vortex dynamics and instability characteristics can be concluded in two aspects.Firstly, the value of induced drag is polluted by about 3% from vortex wandering since vortex wandering affects the tangential velocity and streamwise vorticity of trailing vortices. Secondly, the growth rate and penetration depth perturbation mode affect trailing vortex evolution and further affect induced drag. Specifically, the larger the growth rate and penetration depth are, the more turbulence injects inside the vortex core, thus leading to a quicker and more intense attenuation of trailing vortex, as well as a smaller induced drag.
