| 1 | Long-term follow-up of the effects of fecal microbiota transplantation in combination with soluble dietary fiber as a therapeutic regimen in slow transit constipation显示文摘As some studies have reported that strategies targeting the gut microbiota such as fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT) with or without other microecological therapy might have efficacy in treating slow transit constipation(STC), we conducted a singlecenter, open-label trial to study the long-term effect of FMT combined with soluble dietary fiber(pectin) on STC. Thirty-one adult patients with STC were enrolled into the trial. Patients received 6-day FMT procedures repeatedly for the first 3 months and soluble dietary fiber(pectin) daily during the follow-up. The rate of clinical remission and improvement, stool consistency, the Wexner constipation scale, and assessment of constipation-related symptoms were evaluated at week 4 and 1 year later. The clinical remission and improvement rates at week 4 were 69.0%(20/29) and 75.9%(22/29), respectively. At the end of the study,48.3%(14/29) of patients continued to have at least three complete spontaneous bowel movements per week and 58.6%(17/29)of patients showed clinical improvements. Stool consistency, the Wexner constipation scale, and constipation symptoms improved both at short-term and long-term follow-up. | 4 | Association of Fusobacterium nucleatum infection with colorectal cancer in Chinese patients显示文摘AIM: To investigate Fusobacterium nucleatum(F. nucleatum) abundance in colorectal cancer(CRC) tissues and its association with CRC invasiveness in Chinese patients.METHODS: The resected cancer and adjacent normal tissues(10 cm beyond cancer margins) from 101 consecutive patients with CRC were collected. Fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction(FQ-PCR) was applied to detect F. nucleatum in CRC and normal tissues. The difference of F. nucleatum abundance between cancer and normal tissues and the relationship of F. nucleatum abundance with clinical variables were evaluated. Fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) analysis was performed on 22 CRC tissues with the highest F. nucleatum abundance by FQ-PCR testing to confirm FQ-PCR results.RESULTS: The median abundance of F. nucleatum in CRC tissues [0.242(0.178-0.276)] was significantly higher than that in normal controls [0.050(0.023-0.067)](P < 0.001). F. nucleatum was over-represented in 88/101(87.1%) CRC samples. The abundance of F. nucleatum determined by 2^(-ΔCT) was significantly greater in tumor samples [0.242(0.178, 0.276)] than in normal controls [0.050(0.023, 0.067)](P < 0.001). The frequency of patients with lymph node metastases was higher in the over-abundance group [52/88(59.1%)] than in the under-abundance group [0/13(0%)](P < 0.005). No significant association of F. nucleatum with other clinico-pathological variables was observed(P > 0.05). | 6 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 7 | Bioactive biodegradable polycitrate nanoclusters enhances the myoblast differentiation and in vivo skeletal muscle regeneration via p38 MAPK signaling pathway显示文摘Complete skeletal muscle repair and regeneration due to severe large injury or disease is still a challenge.Biochemical cues are critical to control myoblast cell function and can be utilized to develop smart biomaterials for skeletal muscle engineering.Citric acid-based biodegradable polymers have received much attention on tissue engineering,however,their regulation on myoblast cell differentiation and mechanism was few investigated.Here,we find that citrate-based polycitrate-polyethylene glycol-polyethylenimine(POCG-PEI600)nanoclusters can significantly enhance the in vitro myoblast proliferation by probably reinforcing the mitochondrial number,promote the myotube formation and full-thickness skeletal muscle regeneration in vivo by activating the myogenic biomarker genes expression of Myod and Mhc.POCG-PEI600 nanoclusters could also promote the phosphorylation of p38 in MAP kinases(MAPK)signaling pathway,which led to the promotion of the myoblast differentiation.The in vivo skeletal muscle loss rat model also confirmed that POCG-PEI600 nanoclusters could significantly improve the angiogenesis,myofibers formation and complete skeletal muscle regeneration.POCG-PEI600 nanocluster could be also biodegraded into small molecules and eliminated in vivo,suggesting their high biocompatibility and biosafety.This study could provide a bioactive biomaterial-based strategy to repair and regenerate skeletal muscle tissue. | Yi Guo Min Wang Juan Ge Wen Niu Mi Chen Wei Cheng Bo Lei | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 12 |
| 8 | The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. | 10 | Design and Implementation of a 3D Ocean Virtual Reality and Visualization Engine显示文摘In this study,a 3D virtual reality and visualization engine for rendering the ocean,named VV-Ocean,is designed for marine applications.The design goals of VV-Ocean aim at high fidelity simulation of ocean environment,visualization of massive and multidimensional marine data,and imitation of marine lives.VV-Ocean is composed of five modules,i.e.memory management module,resources management module,scene management module,rendering process management module and interaction management module.There are three core functions in VV-Ocean:reconstructing vivid virtual ocean scenes,visualizing real data dynamically in real time,imitating and simulating marine lives intuitively.Based on VV-Ocean,we establish a sea-land integration platform which can reproduce drifting and diffusion processes of oil spilling from sea bottom to surface.Environment factors such as ocean current and wind field have been considered in this simulation.On this platform oil spilling process can be abstracted as movements of abundant oil particles.The result shows that oil particles blend with water well and the platform meets the requirement for real-time and interactive rendering.VV-Ocean can be widely used in ocean applications such as demonstrating marine operations,facilitating maritime communications,developing ocean games,reducing marine hazards,forecasting the weather over oceans,serving marine tourism,and so on.Finally,further technological improvements of VV-Ocean are discussed. | CHEN Ge LI Bo TIAN Fenglin JI Pengbo LI Wenqing | 2012 | Journal of Ocean University of China2012,11,4: | 10 |

| 12 | Anti-scourability of purple soil on hillslopes with different land uses显示文摘A large-scale flume (40 cm×10 cm×10 cm) was used to determine soil anti-scourability of 4 different land uses of purple soil in hilly areas of Sichuan, China under artificial removal of vegetation to examine the effects of land uses on sediment production by runoff. The results showed that soil anti-scourability declined with the increase of slope gradients in the form of power function, but there was a significant difference in the effects of slope gradients on anti-scourability between different land uses. The ratio of the mean values of soil anti-scourability was 1︰2.2︰2.5︰3.6 for forest land, new waste pasture, old waste pasture, crop land respectively, indicating that forest and grass use can significantly improve soil anti-scourability. Compared with the observations from the runoff plots located at the same sites in this region, an inconsistent result was found between anti-scourability and anti-erodibility in hilly areas of Sichuan. | 13 | Isotope Chronology and Geochemistry of the Lower Carboniferous Granite in Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘Geochronological and geochemical analyses were performed on K-feldspar granites and monzonitic granites from the Xilinhot area, Inner Mongolia, China. Zircon U/Pb ages indicate that the two types granites were emplaced during the Lower Carboniferous. The K-feldspar granites(332 Ma) have the typical A-type granite characteristics of a post-collision setting. The monzonitic granites have an emplacement age of 323 Ma. Zircon εHf values of the former range from +12.8 to +14.2, with an average T_(DM2) of 453 Ma. The latter have lower zircon ε_(Hf) values, ranging from +5.4 to +10.7, with an average T_(DM2) of 798 Ma. The strong, positive ε_(Hf) values of the zircon indicate that both sets of samples are from a juvenile crust formed in an oceanic crust subduction stage, although the monzonitic granite may have undergone a hybridization of crustal materials. These results indicate a younger post orogenic event. | 15 | Microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V components fabricated by laser micro cladding deposition显示文摘Laser micro cladding deposition manufacturing(Ll CDM) is a newly developed rapid manufacturing method for metals.The Ll CDM technology adopts a novel powder feeding method based on alternating friction and inertia force, and this powder feeding method can effectively improve the accuracy and orientation of the powder injection, resulting in a smaller molten pool size and a higher cooling rate of liquid metal.Therefore, the components fabricated by Ll CDM could obtain the finer microstructures and the improved mechanical properties.It is found that the components fabricated by Ll CDM are fully dense free of cracks or pores and exhibit columnar prior b grains with a finer acicular a0 phase microstructure.The microhardness(HV0.2) of the thin-wall component is HV 400–HV 500 in the majority part of the cross section and can reach about HV 850 in the top region.The ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and elongation show insignificant dependence on the testing directions of the tensilespecimens.The UTS is between 1,002 and 1,100 MPa, and the elongation is between 10.0 % and 14.7 %. | Bo Yao Xu-Long Ma Feng Lin Wen-Jun Ge | 2015 | Rare Metals2015,34,7: | 8 |
| 16 | Transvaginal cholecystectomy vs conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallbladder disease:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To compare the results of transvaginal cholecystectomy(TVC) and conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy(CLC) for gallbladder disease.METHODS:We performed a literature search of Pub Med,EMBASE,Ovid,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Google Scholar,Meta Register of Controlled Trials,Chinese Medical Journal database and Wanfang Data for trials comparing outcomes between TVC and CLC.Data were extracted by two authors.Mean difference (MD), standardized mean difference(SMD),odds ratios and risk rate with 95%CIs were calculated using fixed- or random-effects models.Statistical heterogeneity was evaluated with the χ2 test.The fixed-effects model was used in the absence of statistically significant heterogeneity.The randomeffects model was chosen when heterogeneity was found.RESULTS:There were 730 patients in nine controlled clinical trials.No significant difference was found regarding demographic characteristics(P > 0.5),including anesthetic risk score,age,body mass index,and abdominal surgical history between the TVC and CLC groups.Both groups had similar mortality,morbidity,and return to work after surgery.Patients in the TVC group had a lower pain score on postoperative day 1(SMD:-0.957,95%CI:-1.488 to-0.426,P < 0.001),needed less postoperative analgesic medication(SMD:-0.574,95%CI:-0.807 to-0.341,P < 0.001) and stayed for a shorter time in hospital(MD:-1.004 d,95%CI:-1.779 to 0.228,P = 0.011),but had longer operative time(MD:17.307 min,95%CI:6.789 to 27.826,P = 0.001).TVC had no significant influence on postoperative sexual function and quality of life.Better cosmetic results and satisfaction were achieved in the TVC group.CONCLUSION:TVC is safe and effective for gallbladder disease.However,vaginal injury might occur,and further trials are needed to compare TVC with CLC. | Bin Xu Bo Xu Wen-Yan Zheng Hai-Yan Ge Li-Wei Wang Zhen-Sun Song Bin He | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,17: | 7 |
