| 2 | Features analysis of five-element theory and its basal effects on construction of visceral manifestation theory显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the Chinese ancient five-element theory,one of the philosophical foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)theory construction,from the perspective of comtemporary cognitive science,and to reveal the important functions of five-element theory in the construction of TCM theory.METHODS:The basic effects of five-element theory in the construction of TCM theory are intensively expounded and proved from the following aspects:embodiment of five-element theory in cognizing the world,quasi axiom of five-element theory in essence,classification thery of family resemblance and deductive inference pattern of five-element theory,and the openness and expansibility of five-element theory.RESULTS:If five-element theory is considered acognitive pattern or cognitive system related to culture,then there should be features of cognitive embodiment in the cognitive system.If five-element theory is regarded as a symbolic system,however,then there should be a quasi-axiom for the system,and inferential deduction.If,however,five-element theory is taken as a theoretical constructive metaphor,then there should be features of opening and expansibility for the metaphor.CONCLUSION:Based on five-element theory,this study provides a cognitive frame for the construction of TCM(a medicine that originated in China,and is characterized by holism and treatment based on pattern identification differentiation)theory with the function of constructing a concept base,thereby implying further research strategies.Useful information may be produced from the creative inferences obtained from the incorporation of five-element theory. | Zimi Ma Chunhua Jia Jin Guo Haorong Gu Yanhuan Miao | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,1: | 3 |

| 10 | The Establishment and Application of Mobile Electronic Surveillance System for Infectious Diseases with the Help of China—Sierra Leone,2016-Present显示文摘Introduction:Infectious disease surveillance has long been a challenge for low-income countries like Sierra Leone.Traditional approaches based on paper and Short Message Service(SMS)were subject to severe delays in obtaining,transmitting,and analyzing information.Methods:During the China aid operation for fighting Ebola since the end of 2014,a mobile electronic surveillance system for infectious diseases(MESSID)was developed in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces(RSLAF),which comprised an Android-based reporting system and a complementary web-based program designed by Active Server Page.NET(ASP.NET)with the main functions including surveillance,real-time reporting,and risk assessment of infectious diseases.Results:MESSID was successfully registered in June 2016 and had been used by all medical and health institutions in RSLAF.From June 1,2016 to July 5,2021,34,419 cases were diagnosed with 47 infectious diseases of 5 categories,with a total of 42 clinical symptoms.Compared to traditional approaches based on paper and SMS,the MESSID showed flexibility,high efficiency,convenience,and acceptability.Discussion:MESSID is an accessible tool for surveillance of infectious diseases in Sierra Leone and possibly in other African countries with similar needs,capable of improving timeliness of disease reporting,thus rendering a timely outbreak detection and response. | Guangyu Zhao Haorong Chen Yanfeng Yan Jiafu Jiang Lei Lin Baogui Jiang Foday Sahr Stephen Sevalie Qiang Xu Jinjin Chen Henry Saidu Bangura Kandeh Bassie Kargbo Yajun Song Wei Liu Liqun Fang Yansong Sun | 2021 | China CDC weekly2021,3,36: | 1 |

| 17 | Appropriate Metabolic Energy, Crude Protein, Calciumand Available Phosphorus Levels of Diet for BlackMuscovy Duck at 43-91 Days of Age显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to study the effects of diet formulation with different nutrition levels on growth and slaughter performance of black muscovy duck at the age of 43-91 days. [Method] Totally 288 individuals of 43-day-old black muscovy duck were randomly divided into nine treatments, four repeats each treatment and eight ducks each repeat. Using L9(34) orthogonal experiment design(four factors and three levels),three metabolic energy levels(12.32, 12.72, 13.12 MJ/kg), three crude protein levels(14%, 16%, 18%), three calcium levels(0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%)and three available phosphorus levels(0.30%, 0.45%, 0.6%) were designed, and a total of nine feeding groups(C1-C9) were designed according to different nutritional levels. Through combination of feeding test(49 d) and metabolic test(pre-test 4 d and formal test 3 d), the growth performance,meat performance and apparent nutrient digestibility of ducks were determined. [Result] The ducks in experimental group C2 had the highest average daily gain, the lowest feed gain ratio, the largest body oblique length, chest width, chest depth and tibia length, which had significant or ex-tremely significant differences with other groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01). The slaughter rate, semi-eviscerated rate, eviscerated rate and meat quality of ducks in C2 group were higher(P<0.05). The apparent digestibility of crude protein and dietary metabolic energy in C2 group were 88.68% and63.07%, respectively, both were significantly or extremely significantly higher than the other groups( P<0.05 or P<0.01), while the interaction effect of calcium and phosphorus level on apparent digestibility was not obvious. | 18 | miRNA sequencing analysis of healthy and atretic follicles of chickens revealed that miR-30a-5p inhibits granulosa cell death via targeting Beclin1显示文摘Background:The egg production performance of chickens is affected by many factors,including genetics,nutrition and environmental conditions.These factors all play a role in egg production by affecting the development of follicles.MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are important non-coding RNAs that regulate biological processes by targeting genes or other non-coding RNAs after transcription.In the animal reproduction process,miRNA is known to affect the development and atresia of follicles by regulating apoptosis and autophagy of granulosa cells(GCs).Results:In this study,we identified potential miRNAs in the atretic follicles of broody chickens and unatretic follicles of healthy chickens.We identified gga-miR-30a-5p in 50 differentially expressed miRNAs and found that gga-miR-30a-5p played a regulatory role in the development of chicken follicles.The function of miR-30a-5p was explored through the transfection test of miR-30a-5p inhibitor and miR-30a-5p mimics.In the study,we used qPCR,western blot and flow cytometry to detect granulosa cell apoptosis,autophagy and steroid hormone synthesis.Confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy are used for the observation of autophagolysosomes.The levels of estradiol(E2),progesterone(P4),malondialdehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)were detected by ELISA.The results showed that miR-30a-5p showed a negative effect on autophagy and apoptosis of granulosa cells,and also contributed in steroid hormones and reactive oxygen species(ROS)production.In addition,the results obtained from the biosynthesis and dual luciferase experiments showed that Beclin1 was the target gene of miR-30a-5p.The rescue experiment conducted further confirmed that Beclin1 belongs to the miR-30a-5p regulatory pathway.Conclusions:In summary,after deep miRNA sequencing on healthy and atretic follicles,the results indicated that miR-30a-5p inhibits granulosa cell death by inhibiting Beclin1. | Haorong He Dongmei Li Yongtong Tian Qinyao Wei Felix Kwame Amevor Congjiao Sun Chunlin Yu Chaowu Yang Huarui Du Xiaosong Jiang Menggen Ma Can Cui Zhichao Zhang Kai Tian Yao Zhang Qing Zhu Huadong Yin | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,5: | 0 |

[Results] The results showed that the average hatching rate of fertilized eggs was 85. 33%; the average healthy chick rate was 91. 77 %; the average primary body mass was 31. 21 g. Hatching rate of eggs in group 2 was the highest,which reached 90. 52%,the average egg mass was 43. 25 g and the average egg shape index was 1. 32. Hatching rate of eggs in group 2 was 13. 11% and 2. 47% higher than that in group 1 and group 3 respectively,which was 5. 19% higher than the average value. Hatching rate and healthy chick rate of eggs in group 2 also showed the same trend. | 20 | Correlation of aquaporin-4 expression to blood-brain barrier permeability in rats with focal cerebral ischemia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Ischemic cerebrovascular disease causes injury to the blood-brain barrier. The occurrence of brain edema is associated with aquaporin expression following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the correlation of aquaporin-4 expression to brain edema and blood-brain barrier permeability in brain tissues of rat models of ischemia/reperfusion. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The randomized control experiment was performed at the Jiangsu Province Key Laboratory of Anesthesiology, Xuzhou Medical College, China from December 2006 to October 2007. MATERIALS: A total of 112 adult, male, Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 220-250 g, were used to establish rat models of middle cerebral artery occlusion and reperfusion by the suture method. Rabbit anti-aquaporin-4 (Santa Cruz, USA) and Evans blue (Sigma, USA) were used to analyze the tissue. METHODS: The rats were randomized into sham-operated (n = 16) and ischemia/reperfusion (n = 96) groups. There were 6 time points in the ischemia/reperfusion group, comprising 4, 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after reperfusion, with 16 rats for each time point. Rat models in the sham-operated group at 4 hours after surgery and rat models in the ischemia/reperfusion group at different time points were equally and randomly assigned into 4 different subgroups. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Brain water content on the ischemic side and the control side was measured using the dry-wet weight method. Blood-brain barrier function was determined by Evans Blue. Aquaporin-4 expression surrounding the ischemic focus, as well as the correlation of aquaporin-4 expression with brain water content and Evans blue staining, were measured using immunohistochemistry and Western blot analysis. RESULTS: Brain water content on the ischemic side significantly increased at 12 hours after reperfusion, reached a peak at 48 hours, and was still high at 72 hours. Brain water content was greater on the ischemic hemispheres, compared with the control hemispheres at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after reperfusion, as well as both hemispheres in the sham-operated group (P < 0.05). Evans blue content significantly increased on the ischemic side at 4 hours after ischemia/reperfusion, and reached a peak at 48 hours. Evans blue content was greater on the ischemic hemispheres, compared with the control hemispheres at various time points, as well as both hemispheres in the sham-operated group (P < 0.05). Aquaporin-4-positive cells were detected in the cortex and hippocampus, surrounding the ischemic penumbra focus, at 4-6 hours after ischemia/reperfusion. The number of positive cells significantly increased at 12 hours and reached a peak at 48-72 hours. Aquaporin-4 was, however, weakly expressed in the control hemispheres and the sham-operated group. The absorbance ratio of aquaporin-4 to β-actin was greater at 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, compared with the sham-operated group (P < 0.05). Aquaporin-4 expression positively correlated to brain water content and Evans blue staining following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (r1 = 0.68, r2 = 0.81, P < 0.05).
