1Effects of combined drip irrigation and sub-surface pipe drainage on water and salt transport of saline-alkali soil in Xinjiang, China显示文摘Developing effective irrigation and drainage strategies to improve the quality of saline-alkali soil is vital for enhancing agricultural production and increasing economic returns. In this study, we explored how irrigation and drainage modes (flood irrigation, drip irrigation, and sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation) improve the saline-alkali soil in Xinjiang, China. We aimed to study the transport characteristics of soil water and salt under different irrigation and drainage modes, and analyze the effects of the combination of irrigation and drainage on soil salt leaching, as well as its impacts on the growth of oil sunflower. Our results show that sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation significantly reduced the soil salt content and soil water content at the 0–200 cm soil depth. Under sub-surface pipe drainage combined with drip irrigation, the mean soil salt content was reduced to below 10 g/kg after the second irrigation, and the soil salt content decreased as sub-surface pipe distance decreased. The mean soil salt content of flood irrigation exceeded 25 g/kg, and the mean soil desalination efficiency was 3.28%, which was lower than that of drip irrigation. The mean soil desalination rate under drip irrigation and sub-surface pipe drainage under drip irrigation was 19.30% and 58.12%, respectively. After sub-surface drainage regulation under drip irrigation, the germination percentage of oil sunflower seedlings was increased to more than 50%, which further confirmed that combined drip irrigation and sub-surface pipe drainage is very effective in improving the quality of saline-alkali soil and increasing the productivity of agricultural crops.HENG Tong LIAO Renkuan WANG Zhenhua WU Wenyong LI Wenhao ZHANG Jinzhu 2018Journal of Arid Land2018,10,6:12
2Identification and characterization of rice blast resistance gene Pid4 by a combination of transcriptomic profiling and genome analysis显示文摘Map-based cloning of plant disease resistance (R) genes is time-consuming. Here, we reported the isolation of blast R gene Pid4 using comparative transcriptomic profiling and genome-wide sequence analysis. Pid4 encodes a coiled-coil nucleotide-binding site leucine-rich repeat(CC-NBS-LRR) protein and is constitutively expressed at diverse developmental stages in the rice variety Digu. The Pid4 protein is localized in both the nucleus and cytoplasm. Introduction of Pid4 into susceptible rice cultivars confers race-specific resistance to leaf and neck blast. Amino acid sequence comparison and blast resistance spectrum tests showed that Pid4 is a novel R gene, different from the previously reported R genes located in the same gene cluster. A Pid4 Indel marker was developed to facilitate the identification of Pid4 in different rice varieties. 3Clinical characteristics and risk factors for liver injury in COVID-19 patients in Wuhan显示文摘BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has become a worldwide pandemic.We investigated the clinical characteristics and risk factors for liver injury in COVID-19 patients in Wuhan by retrospectively analyzing the epidemiological,clinical,and laboratory data for 218 COVID-19 patients and identifying the risk factors for liver injury by multivariate analysis.AIM To investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors for liver injury in COVID-19 patients in Wuhan.METHODS The 218 patients included 94 males(43.1%),aged 22 to 94(50.1±18.4)years.Elevated aspartate aminotransferase(AST)and alanine aminotransferase(ALT)were present in 42(53.2%)and 36(45.6%)cases,respectively,and 79(36.2%)patients had abnormally elevated transaminase levels at admission.Patients with liver injury were older than those with normal liver function by a median of 12 years,with a significantly higher frequency of males(68.4%vs 28.8%,P<0.001)and more coexisting illnesses(48.1%vs 27.3%,P=0.002).Significantly more patients had fever and shortness of breath(87.3%vs 69.8%and 29.1%vs 14.4%,respectively)in the liver injury group.Only 12(15.2%)patients had elevated total bilirubin.ALT and AST levels were mildly elevated[1-3×upper limit of normal(ULN)]in 86.1%and 92.9%of cases,respectively.Only two(2.5%)patients had an ALT or AST level>5×ULN.Elevatedγ-glutamyl transpeptidase was present in 45(57.0%)patients,and 86.7%of these had aγ-glutamyl-transpeptidase level<135 U/L(3×ULN).Serum alkaline phosphatase levels were almost normal in all patients.Patients with severe liver injury had a significantly higher frequency of abnormal transaminases than non-severe patients,but only one case had very high levels of aminotransferases.RESULTS Multivariate analysis revealed that male sex,high D-dimer level,and high neutrophil percentage were linked to a higher risk of liver injury.The early stage of COVID-19 may be associated with mildly elevated aminotransferase levels in patients in Wuhan.Male sex and high D-dimer level and neutrophil percentage may be important predictors of liver injury in patients with COVID-19.CONCLUSION Male sex and high D-dimer level and neutrophil percentage may be important predictors of liver injury in patients with COVID-19.Hu Zhang Yu-Sheng Liao Jing Gong Jing Liu Heng Zhang 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,31:6
4A comparative study of the characteristics of two Coxsackie A virus type 16 strains (genotype B)显示文摘Coxsackie A virus is one of the major pathogens associated with hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD). The etiological characteristics of Coxsackie A virus type 16 (CA16) are thought to correlate with the pathological process of its infection. Two CA16 strains that were isolated from a severe HFMD patient presented with different plaque forms. This observation, along with biological analysis, indicated that the differences in the strains' biological characteristics, such as proliferation kinetics and immunogenicity, correlate with differences in their pathogenicity toward neonatal mice. Furthermore, these differences are thought to be associated with the sequence of the 5′ non-coding region of the viral genome and the VP1 structural region sequence. 7A Sub-Nanostructural Transformable Nanozyme for Tumor Photocatalytic Therapy显示文摘The structural change-mediated catalytic activity regulation plays a significant role in the biological functions of natural enzymes.However,there is virtually no artificial nanozyme reported that can achieve natural enzyme-like stringent spatiotemporal structure-based catalytic activity regulation.Here,we report a subnanostructural transformable gold@ceria(STGC-PEG)nanozyme that performs tunable catalytic activities via near-infrared(NIR)light-mediated sub-nanostructural transformation.The gold core in STGC-PEG can generate energetic hot electrons upon NIR irradiation,wherein an internal sub-nanostructural transformation is initiated by the conversion between CeO;and electron-rich state of CeO;-x,and active oxygen vacancies generation via the hot-electron injection.Interestingly,the sub-nanostructural transformation of STGC-PEG enhances peroxidase-like activity and unprecedentedly activates plasmon-promoted oxidase-like activity,allowing highly efficient low-power NIR light(50 m W cm;)-activated photocatalytic therapy of tumors.Our atomic-level design and fabrication provide a platform to precisely regulate the catalytic activities of nanozymes via a light-mediated sub-nanostructural transformation,approaching natural enzyme-like activity control in complex living systems.Xi Hu Nan Wang Xia Guo Zeyu Liang Heng Sun Hongwei Liao Fan Xia Yunan Guan Jiyoung Lee Daishun Ling Fangyuan Li 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,6:4

9Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Ethylene Oligomerization of Pyridine-imine Palladium Complexes显示文摘Two neutral five-membered pyridine-imine palladium complexes with the bulky dibenzhydryl(CH(Ph)_2) substituted aniline were synthesized and fully characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and X-ray crystal diffraction. Well-defined cationic palladium complexes were further obtained by treatment of chloromethylpalladium complexes with sodium tetrakis(3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)borate(NaBArF) in CH_3CN. Cationic palladium complexes were capable of catalyzing ethylene oligomerization without any cocatalysts. The influences of catalyst structure, reaction temperature, and ethylene pressure on ethylene oligomerization were studied in detail. The introduction of bulky benzhydryl(CH(Ph)_2) on the ortho position of the aniline moiety enhanced catalytic activity, thermal stability of the catalyst, and molecular weight of the obtained products. 10Regioselective Polymerizations of α-Olefins with an α-Diamine Nickel Catalyst显示文摘Polymerizations of linear α-olefins(CnH2n, CH2=CH―R, R = Cn-2) catalyzed by early transition metals typically afford amorphous polymers with alkyl chains(Cn-2), while chain-straightening polymerizations of α-olefins with nickel-based catalysts produce semicrystalline polyolefins. Polymerizations of various α-olefins were carried out using an α-diamine nickel catalyst with a significantly distorted chelating ring. The influences of temperature, monomer concentration, and chain length of α-olefins on polyolefin microstructure were examined in detail. The α-diamine nickel catalyst realized highly regioselective 2,1-insertion of α-olefins regardless of reaction temperature and monomer concentration. 11The characterization of auditory brainstem response(ABR) waveforms: A study in tree shrews(Tupaia belangeri)显示文摘To characterize the patterns of ABR waves in tree shrews, we must understand the hearing sensitivity and auditory function of healthy adult tree shrews. Fifteen tree shrews(30 ears) were stimulated with clicks and tone-pips at 11 different frequencies from 1 to 60 kHz. The ABR waves were recorded and analyzed. The ABR consisted of five to seven positive waves in the first 10 ms after a click stimulus, and the average hearing threshold of component III was 27.86 ± 3.78 dB SPL. Wave III was the largest and most clear. The ABR threshold was related to the tone-pip sitmulus by a 'U' shaped curve. The sensitive frequency was approximately 8 kHz in tree shrews. The latencies systematically decreased with increasing stimulus frequencies. The ABR amplitudes of wave III increased as the sound pressure level increased. 12Ultra-strong and thermally stable nanocrystalline CrCoNi alloy显示文摘Grain refinement to the nanocrystalline regime is the most effective way to strengthen materials but this often deteriorates the grain-size thermal stability and plasticity. Here we manufactured a nanocrystalline face centred cubic Cr Co Ni medium entropy alloy with columnar grains via magnetron sputtering. Compression of CrCoNi pillars with diameters of ~1 μm revealed a record high yield strength of ~5 GPa for pillars with face centred cubic structures and engineering plastic strain of > 30%. The alloy possessed an outstanding grain-size thermal stability even at 1073 K. Both nanocrystalline grain size and a high density of nanotwins/stacking faults are critical to the exceptional yield strength. Deformation twinning, grains refinement during deformation, grain boundary sliding and random grain orientation all contribute to the large plasticity. 13An explicit method for numerical simulation of wave equations显示文摘In this paper, a method to develop a hierarchy of explicit recursion formulas for numerical simulation in an irregular grid for scalar wave equations is presented and its accuracy is illustrated via 2-D and 1-D models. 14Effect of Electroacupuncture on Anxiety and Craving in Heroin Addicts During Detoxification显示文摘Objective:To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points for anxiety and craving in heroin addicts during detoxification. Methods:A total of 60 cases were randomized into an electro-acupuncture group and a control group, 30 in each group. Cases in the electroacupuncture group were treated with electroacupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) points, whereas cases in the control group were treated with Methadone and Doxepin. Then scores were graded using Zung self-rating anxiety score (SAS) and self-made visual analogue scale (VAS). The assessment was conducted once a day to record the adverse reactions. Results:After treatment, the SAS and VAS scores in the electro-acupuncture group were significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.01). 17Corynoxine B targets at HMGB1/2 to enhance autophagy forα-synuclein clearance in fly and rodent models of Parkinson's disease显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD)is the most common neurodegenerative movement disease.It is featured by abnormal alphα-synuclein(α-syn)aggregation in dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra.Macroautophagy(autophagy)is an evolutionarily conserved cellular process for degradation of cellular contents,including protein aggregates,to maintain cellular homeostasis.Corynoxine B(Cory B),a natural alkaloid isolated from Uncaria rhynchophylla(Miq.)Jacks.,has been reported to promote the clearance ofα-syn in cell models by inducing autophagy.However,the molecular mechanism by which Cory B induces autophagy is not known,and theα-syn-lowering activity of Cory B has not been verified in animal models.Here,we report that Cory B enhanced the activity of Beclin 1/VPS34 complex and increased autophagy by promoting the interaction between Beclin 1 and HMGB1/2.Depletion of HMGB1/2 impaired Cory B-induced autophagy.We showed for the first time that,similar to HMGB1,HMGB2 is also required for autophagy and depletion of HMGB2 decreased autophagy levels and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinaseⅢactivity both under basal and stimulated conditions.By applying cellular thermal shift assay,surface plasmon resonance,and molecular docking,we confirmed that Cory B directly binds to HMGB1/2 near the C106 site.Furthermore,in vivo studies with a wild-typeα-syn transgenic drosophila model of PD and an A53Tα-syn transgenic mouse model of PD,Cory B enhanced autophagy,promotedα-syn clearance and improved behavioral abnormalities.Taken together,the results of this study reveal that Cory B enhances phosphatidylinositol 3-kinaseⅢactivity/autophagy by binding to HMGB1/2 and that this enhancement is neuroprotective against PD.Qi Zhu Juxian Song Jia-Yue Chen Zhenwei Yuan Liangfeng Liu Li-Ming Xie Qiwen Liao Richard D.Ye Xiu Chen Yepiao Yan Jieqiong Tan Chris Soon Heng Tan Min Li Jia-Hong Lu 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,6:2

20Validation of different personalized risk models of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting:results of a randomized,double-blind,phase III trial of fosaprepitant for cancer patients treated with high-dose cisplatin显示文摘Background:Highly emetogenic chemotherapy induces emesis in cancer patients without prophylaxis.The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a fosaprepitant-based triple antiemetic regimen for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting(CINV)in patients with solid malignant tumors,determine risk factors and externally validate different personalized risk models for CINV.Methods:This phase III trial was designed to test the non-inferiority of fosaprepitant toward aprepitant in cancer patients who were to receive the first cycle of single-day cisplatin chemotherapy.The primary endpoint was complete response(CR)during the overall phase(OP)with a non-inferiority margin of 10.0%.Logistic regression modelswere used to assess the risk factors ofCRand no nausea.To validate the personalized risk models,the accuracy of the risk scoring systems was determined by measuring the specificity,sensitivity and area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC),while the predictive accuracy of the nomogram was measured using concordance index(C-index).Results:A total of 720 patients were randomly assigned.CR during the OP in the fosaprepitant group was not inferior to that in the aprepitant group(78.1%vs.77.7%,P=0.765)with a between-group difference of 0.4%(95%CI,-5.7%to 6.6%).Female sex,higher cisplatin dose(≥70 mg/m2),no history of drinking and larger body surface area(BSA)were significantly associated with nausea.The AUC for the acute and delayed CINV risk indexes was 0.68(95%CI:0.66-0.71)and 0.66(95%CI:0.61-0.70),respectively,and the C-index for nomogram CINV prediction was 0.59(95%CI,0.54-0.64).Using appropriate cutoff points,the three models could stratify patients with high-or low-risk CINV.No nausea and CR rate were significantly higher in the low-risk group than in the high-risk group(P<0.001).Conclusions:Fosaprepitant-based triple prophylaxis demonstrated non-inferior control for preventing CINV in patients treated with cisplatin-base chemotherapy.Female cancer patients without a history of alcohol consumption,with larger BSA and received high-dose cisplatin might be more vulnerable to CINV.Three personalized prediction models were well-validated and could be used to optimize antiemetic therapy for individual patients.Yuanyuan Zhao Bing Zhao Gang Chen Yinlan Chen Zijun Liao Haiming Zhang Weineng Feng Yinyin Li Heng Weng Weidong Li Yuefen Zhou Biyong Ren Yanda Lu Jianhua Chen Zhenteng Liu Zhenzhong Su Wenliang Wang Li Zhang 2023Cancer Communications2023,43,2:2
