Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Therefore the observation of Insight-HXMT constitutes an important chapter in the full context of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observation of this historical GW event. | TiPei Li ShaoLin Xiong ShuangNan Zhang FangJun Lu LiMing Song XueLei Cao Zhi Chang Gang Chen Li Chen TianXiang Chen Yong Chen YiBao Chen YuPeng Chen Wei Cui WeiWei Cui JingKang Deng YongWei Dong YuanYuan Du MinXue Fu GuanHua Gao He Gao Min Gao MingYu Ge YuDong Gu Ju Guan ChengCheng Guo DaWei Han Wei Hu Yue Huang Jia Huo ShuMei Jia LuHua Jiang WeiChun Jiang Jing Jin YongJie Jin Bing Li ChengKui Li Gang Li MaoShun Li Wei Li Xian Li XiaoBo Li XuFang Li YanGuo Li ZiJian Li ZhengWei Li XiaoHua Liang JinYuan Liao CongZhan Liu GuoQing Liu HongWei Liu ShaoZhen Liu XiaoJing Liu Yuan Liu YiNong Liu Bo Lu XueFeng Lu Tao Luo Xiang Ma Bin Meng Yi Nang JianYin Nie Ge OU JinLu Qu Na Sai Liang Sun Yin Tan Lian Tao WenHui Tao YouLi Tuo GuoFeng Wang HuanYu Wang Juan Wang WenShuai Wang YuSa Wang XiangYang Wen BoBing WU Mei Wu GuangCheng Xiao He Xu YuPeng Xu LinLi Yan JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang AiMei Zhang ChunLei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang HongMei Zhang Juan Zhang Qiang Zhang Shu Zhang Tong Zhang Wei Zhang WanChang Zhang WenZhao Zhang Yi Zhang Yue Zhang YiFei Zhang YongJie Zhang Zhao Zhang ZiLiang Zhang HaiSheng Zhao JianLing Zhao XiaoFan Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yue Zhu YuXuan Zhu ChangLin Zou | 2018 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,3: | 12

The chromosome-level reference genome assembly for Panax notoginseng and insights into ginsenoside biosynthesis显示文摘Panax notoginseng,a perennial herb of the genus Panax in the family Araliaceae, has played an important role in clinical treatment in China for thousands of years because of its extensive pharmacological effects. Here,we report a high-quality reference genome of P.notoginseng, with a genome size up to 2.66 Gb and a contig N50 of 1.12 Mb,produced with third-generation PacBio sequencing technology. This is the first chromosome-level genome assembly for the genus Panax.Through genome evolution analysis,we explored phylogenetic and whole-genome duplication events and examined their impact on saponin biosynthesis. We performed a detailed transcriptional analysis of P.notoginseng and explored genelevel mechanisms that regulate the formation of characteristic tubercles.Next,we studied the biosynthesis and regulation of saponins at temporal and spatial levels. We combined multi-omics data to identify genes that encode key enzymes in the P.notoginseng terpenoid biosynthetic pathway. Finally,we identified five glycosyltransferase genes whose products catalyzed the formation of different ginsenosides in P.notoginseng.The genetic information obtained in this study provides a resource for further exploration of the growth characteristics, cultivation, breeding, and saponin biosynthesis of P.notoginseng. | Zhouqian Jiang Lichan Tu Weifei Yang Yifeng Zhang Tianyuan Hu Baowei Ma Yun Lu Xiuming Cui Jie Gao Xiaoyi Wu Yuru Tong Jiawei Zhou Yadi Song Yuan Liu Nan Liu Luqi Huang Wei Gao | 2021 | Plant Communications2021,2,1: | 11
Overexpression of micro RNA_(40)8 enhances photosynthesis, growth, and seed yield in diverse plants显示文摘The ability of a plant to produce grain, fruit, or forage depends ultimately on photosynthesis. There have been few attempts, however, to study micro RNAs, which are a class of endogenous small RNAs post-transcriptionally programming gene expression, in relation to photosynthetic traits. We focused on miR_(40)8, one of the most conserved plant miRNAs, and overexpressed it in parallel in Arabidopsis, tobacco, and rice. The transgenic plants all exhibited increased copper content in the chloroplast, elevated abundance of plastocyanin, and an induction of photosynthetic genes. By means of gas exchange and optical spectroscopy analyses, we showed that higher expression of miR_(40)8 leads to enhanced photosynthesis through improving efficiency of irradiation utilization and the capacity for carbon dioxide fixation. Consequently, miR_(40)8 hyper-accumulating plants exhibited higher rate of vegetative growth. An enlargement of seed size was also observed in all three species overproducing miR_(40)8. Moreover, we conducted a 2-year-two-location field trial and observed miR_(40)8 overexpression in rice significantly increased yield, which was primarily attributed to an elevation in grain weight. Taken together, these results demonstrate that miR_(40)8 is a positive regulator of photosynthesis and that its genetic engineering is a promising route for enhancing photosynthetic performance and yield in diverse plants. | Jiawei Pan Dahui Huang Zhonglong Guo Zheng Kuang He Zhang Xinyu Xie Zengfeng Ma Shaopei Gao Manuel T.Lerdau Chengcai Chu Lei Li | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,4: | 8
Inorganic Colloidal Electrolyte for Highly Robust Zinc‑Ion Batteries显示文摘Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)is a promising electrical energy storage candidate due to its eco-friendliness,low cost, and intrinsic safety, but on the cathode the element dissolution and the formation of irreversible products, and on the anode the growth of dendrite as well as irreversible products hinder its practical application.Herein,we propose a new type of the inorganic highly concentrated colloidal electrolytes(HCCE)for ZIBs promoting simultaneous robust protection of both cathode/anode leading to an effective suppression of element dissolution, dendrite, and irreversible products growth. The new HCCE has high Zn^(2+)ion transference number(0.64)endowed by the limitation of SO4^(2−),the competitive ion conductivity(1.1×10^(–2) S cm^(−1))and Zn2+ion diffusion enabled by the uniform pore distribution(3.6 nm)and the limited free water. The Zn/HCCE/α-MnO2 cells exhibit high durability under both high and low current densities, which is almost 100%capacity retention at 200 mA g^(−1) after 400 cycles(290 mAh g^(−1))and 89%capacity retention under 500 mA g^(−1) after 1000 cycles(212 mAh g^(−1)).Considering material sustainability and batteries’high performances, the colloidal electrolyte may provide a feasible substitute beyond the liquid and all-solid-state electrolyte of ZIBs. | Jiawei Gao Xuesong Xie Shuquan Liang Bingan Lu Jiang Zhou | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,4: | 6
The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components. The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. | 7 | Meteorin-β/Meteorin like/IL-41 attenuates airway inflammation in house dust mite-induced allergic asthma显示文摘We sought to examine the regulatory effect of Meteorin-β(Metrnβ)/Meteorin like(Metrnl)/IL-41 on lung inflammation in allergic asthma. We found that Metrnβwas elevated significantly in asthmatic patients and in mice with allergic asthma induced by house dust mite(HDM)extract.Upon exposure to HDM,Metrnβwas secreted predominantly by airway epithelial cells and inflammatory cells, including macrophages and eosinophils. The increased Metrnβeffectively blocked the development of airway hyperreactivity(AHR)and decreased inflammatory cell airway infiltration and type 2 cytokine production, which was associated with downregulated DC-mediated adaptive immune responses. Moreover,Metrnβimpaired the maturation and function of bone marrow-derived dendritic cells in vitro.Asthmatic mice adoptively transferred with dendritic cells isolated from Metrnβ-treated allergic mice displayed decreased AHR,airway inflammation, and lung injury.Metrnβalso displayed anti-inflammatory properties in immunodeficient SCID mice with allergic asthma and in in vitro 3D ALI airway models. Moreover, blockade of Metrnβby anti-Metrnβantibody treatment promoted the development of allergic asthma. These results revealed the unappreciated protective roles of Metrnβin alleviating DC-mediated Th2 inflammation in allergic asthma, providing the novel treatment strategy of therapeutic targeting of Metrnβin allergic asthma. | Xun Gao Ting-Fan Leung Gary Wing-Kin Wong Wing-Hung Ko Mengyun Cai Ellie Jiayi He Ida Miu-Ting Chu Miranda Sin-Man Tsang Ben Chung-Lap Chan Jiawei Ling Xiao Fan Liwei Lu Christopher Wai-Kei Lam Chun-Kwok Wong | 2022 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,2: | 5

Transcriptomics and metabolomics analyses provide insights into postharvest ripening and senescence of tomato fruit under low temperature显示文摘Tomato is one of the most important vegetable crops in the world and is a model plant used to study the ripening of climacteric fleshy fruit.During the ripening process of tomato fruit, flavor and aroma metabolites, color, texture and plant hormones undergo significant changes. However, low temperatures delayed the ripening process of tomato fruit, inhibiting flavor compounds and ethylene production.Metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses of tomato fruit stored under low temperature(LT,5°C)and room temperature(RT,25°C)were carried out to investigate the effects of storage temperature on the physiological changes in tomato fruit after harvest. The results of transcriptomics changes revealed that the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)involved in tomato fruit ripening, including several kinds of transcription factors(TFs)(TCP,WRKY,MYB and bZIP),enzymes involved in cell wall metabolism[beta-galactosidase(β-GAL),pectinesterase(PE)and pectate lyase(PL),cellulose and cellulose synthase(CESA)],enzymes associated with fruit flavor and aroma[acetyltransferase(AT),malic enzyme(ME),lipoxygenase(LOX),aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH),alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH)and hexokinase(HK)],genes associated with heat stress protein 70 and genes involved in the production of plant hormones such as Ethylene responsive factor 1(ERF1),Auxin/indoleacetic acids protein(AUX/IAA),gibberellin regulated protein.Based on the above results,we constructed a regulatory network model of the effects of different temperatures during the fruit ripening process.According to the analysis of the metabolomics results,it was found that the contents of many metabolites in tomato fruit were greatly affected by storage temperature, including, organic acids(L-tartaric acid,a-hydroxyisobutyric acid and 4-acetamidobutyric acid),sugars(melezitose,beta-Dlactose,D-sedoheptulose 7-phosphate,2-deoxyribose 1-phosphate and raffinose)and phenols(coniferin, curcumin and feruloylputrescine). This study revealed the effects of storage temperature on postharvest tomato fruit and provided a basis for further understanding of the molecular biology and biochemistry of fruit ripening. | Chunmei Bai Caie Wu Lili Ma Anzhen Fu Yanyan Zheng Jiawei Han Changbao Li Shuzhi Yuan Shufang Zheng Lipu Gao Xinhua Zhang Qing Wang Demei Meng Jinhua Zuo | 2023 | Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1: | 3

Study on the Physiological,Cellular, and Morphological Aspects of the Postharvest Development of Cut Lily Flowers显示文摘It is of great practical significance to study the development process of cut lily for regulating flowering and preservation. In this study, the developmental process of lily cut flower was explored from cellular, morphological, and physiological aspects.Froma morphological aspect, the tepal edge grows faster than the midrib. The midrib groove of the flowering stage is wider than that of bud stage. The fast-growing edge of the petals results in the midrib bending outward. Moreover, the rapid growth of the stamens and stigmas also contributes to bud cracking. From the cellular aspect,in the bud stage there were more wrinkles in the outer epidermal cell wall of the tepal than those in the inner epidermal cell wall, indicating that asymmetric structural differences exist from the beginning of lily development. From a physiological aspect, from the bud cracking stage to the senescence stage,a variety of substances in the tepal cells gradually decreased, including total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium, total calcium, starch, soluble sugar, and soluble protein, but not malondialdehyde. These results indicate that the asymmetric growth caused by this structural difference is responsible for flowering. The wrinkles in the cell wall can be regarded as indicators of senescent cells and are caused by the degradation of the cell wall and the loss of intracellular turgor pressure. The differences in the epidermal cells between the inner and outer tepal indicated ultrastructural changes in the tepal cells. The bud and flowering stages are maintained by the tepals acting as a sink. After flowering, the tepals gradually change from a sink to a source organ.Senescence of the cut lily flowers was caused by the decomposition of intracellular compounds in the tepals and the remobilization of nutrients from the tepals to the developing organs. | Yushan Zhang Dexin Zhong Zhanfei Liu Jiawei Gao | 2021 | Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,2: | 2
