| 1 | Relative Contributions of Boundary-Layer Meteorological Factors to the Explosive Growth of PM2.5 during the Red-Alert Heavy Pollution Episodes in Beijing in December 2016显示文摘Based on observations of urban mass concentration of fine particulate matter smaller than 2.5 μm in diameter(PM_(2.5)), ground meteorological data, vertical measurements of winds, temperature, and relative humidity(RH), and ECMWF reanalysis data, the major changes in the vertical structures of meteorological factors in the boundary layer(BL) during the heavy aerosol pollution episodes(HPEs) that occurred in winter 2016 in the urban Beijing area were analyzed. The HPEs are divided into two stages: the transport of pollutants under prevailing southerly winds, known as the transport stage(TS), and the PM_(2.5) explosive growth and pollution accumulation period characterized by a temperature inversion with low winds and high RH in the lower BL, known as the cumulative stage(CS). During the TS, a surface high lies south of Beijing, and pollutants are transported northwards. During the CS, a stable BL forms and is characterized by weak winds, temperature inversion, and moisture accumulation. Stable atmospheric stratification featured with light/calm winds and accumulated moisture(RH > 80%) below 250 m at the beginning of the CS is closely associated with the inversion, which is strengthened by the considerable decrease in near-surface air temperature due to the interaction between aerosols and radiation after the aerosol pollution occurs. A significant increase in the PLAM(Parameter Linking Aerosol Pollution and Meteorological Elements) index is found, which is linearly related to PM mass change. During the first 10 h of the CS, the more stable BL contributes approximately 84% of the explosive growth of PM_(2.5) mass. Additional accumulated near-surface moisture caused by the ground temperature decrease, weak turbulent diffusion, low BL height, and inhibited vertical mixing of water vapor is conducive to the secondary aerosol formation through chemical reactions, including liquid phase and heterogeneous reactions, which further increases the PM_(2.5) concentration levels. | 2 | Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome-related herbal prescriptions in treatment of malignant tumors显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the distribution characteristics of TCM syndromes and the related herbal prescriptions for malignant tumors (MT). METHODS: A clinical database of the TCM syndromes and the herbal prescriptions in treatment of 136 MT patients were established. The data were then analyzed using cluster and frequency analysis. RESULTS: According to the cluster analysis, the TCM syndromes in MT patients mainly included two patterns: deficiency of both Qi and Yin and internal accumulation of toxic heat. The commonly-prescribed herbs were Huangqi (Astraglus), Nüzhen-zi (Fructus Ligustri Lucidi), Lingzhi (Ganoderma Lucidum), Huaishan (Dioscorea Opposita), Xiakucao (Prunella Vulgaris), and Baihuasheshecao (Herba Hedyotidis). CONCLUSION: Deficiency of Qi and Yin is the primary syndrome of MT, and internal accumulation of toxic heat is the secondary syndrome. | 3 | ENPP1/PC-1 Gene K121Q Polymorphism Is Associated with Obesity in European Adult Populations: Evidence from A Meta-Analysis Involving 24 324 Subjects显示文摘Objective Findings from the previous studies have suggested a relationship between ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase /phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP‐1) or plasma cell membrane glycoprotein 1 (PC‐1) gene single nucleotide polymorphism (K121Q, rs1044498) and genetic susceptibility to obesity. However, such relationship is not reproduced by some currently available studies. In this context, the present study is aimed to quantitatively analyze the association of K121Q variant with obesity in all published case‐control studies in European adult populations. Methods Published literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and ISI web of science databases were retrieved. The studies evaluating the association of ENPP1/PC1 gene K121Q polymorphism with obesity were included, in which sufficient data were presented to calculate the odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results Ten case‐control studies meeting the inclusion criteria identified a total of 24,324 subjects including 11,372 obese and 12,952 control subjects. The meta‐analysis results showed a statistically significant association of K121Q with obesity [OR (95%CI): 1.25 (1.04‐1.52) P=0.021] under a recessive model of inheritance (QQ vs. KK+KQ) without heterogeneity or publication bias. | 4 | Preparation and characterization of spherical mesoporous ZrO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3) composites with high thermal stability显示文摘Spherical mesoporous ZrO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3) composites containing different zirconia content have been synthesized by an oil-column sol-gel method.A mixed alumina-zirconia hydrosol and hexamethylenetetramine solution were mixed together and added dropwise into a hot oil column.Due to the surface tension,spherical gel particles were formed in the oil column.The spherical gel particles were then aged and washed by deionized water and dried at 120 ℃ for 12 h and then calcined at 600 ℃ for 8 h,960 ℃ for 8 h or 1200 ℃ for 12 h.X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurements indicated that the presence of zirconia prevents the sintering of alumina and the obtained ZrO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3) composites have much larger surface areas than pure alumina.Temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia results illustrated that the addition of zirconia leads to an increase in the number of strong acid sites and the total number of acid sites compared with pure alumina.Thus,the spherical mesoporous ZrO_(2)-Al_(2)O_(3) composites prepared in this way were shown to be suitable for high temperature catalytic processes as a catalyst support. | LI Yang FENG JunTing LI DianQing | 2011 | Science China Chemistry2011,54,7: | 2 |
| 5 | Nonlinear optical absorption properties of InP nanowires and applications as a saturable absorber显示文摘Indium phosphide(InP)nanowires(NWs)have attracted significant attention due to their exotic properties that are different from the bulk counterparts,and have been widely used for light generation,amplification,detection,modulation,and switching,etc.Here,high-quality InP NWs were directly grown on a quartz substrate by the Au-nanoparticle assisted vapor-liquid-solid method.We thoroughly studied their nonlinear optical absorption properties at 1.06μm by the open-aperture Z-scan method.Interestingly,a transition phenomenon from satu-rable absorption(SA)to reverse saturable absorption(RSA)was observed with the increase of the incident laser intensity.In the analysis,we found that the effective nonlinear absorption cofficient(βeff-10^2 cm/MW)under the SA process was 3 orders of magnitude larger than that during the RSA processes.Furthermore,the SA proper-ties of InP NWs were experimentally verified by using them as a saturable absorber for a passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 solid-state laser at 1.06μm,where the shortest pulse width of 462 ns and largest single pulse energy of 1.32μJ were obtained.Moreover,the ultrafast carrier relaxation dynamics were basically studied,and the intraband and inter-band ultrafast carrier relaxation times of 8.1 and 63.8 ps,respectively,were measured by a degenerate pump-probe method with the probe laser of 800 nm.These results well demonstrate the nonlinear optical absorption properties,which show the excellent light manipulating capabilities of InP NWs and pave a way for their applications in ultrafast nanophotonic devices. | JUNTING LIU HONGKUN NIE BINGZHENG YAN KEJIAN YANG HE YANG VLADISLAV KHAYRUDINOV HARRI LIPSANEN BAITAO ZHANG JINGLIANG HE | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,6: | 2 |

| 14 | Semi-quantitative design of synergetic surficial/interfacial sites for the semi-continuous oxidation of glycerol显示文摘Qualitatively identifying the dominant catalytic site for each step of a semi-continuous reaction and semi-quantitatively correlating such different sites to the catalytic performance is of great significance toward the integration of multiple well-optimized sites on a heterogeneous catalyst.Herein,a series of structurally defined TiO_(x)-based catalysts were synthesized to provide a feasible approach to investigate the aforementioned issues using the semi-continuous oxidation of glycerol as a model reaction.Detailed investigations have verified the simultaneous presence of two kinds of Pt active sites:1)Negatively charged Pt bound to the oxygen vacancies of modified TiO_(x)in the form of Pt^(δ−)-O_(v)-Ti^(3+) sites and 2)metallic Pt(Pt_(0)site)located away from the inter-face.Meanwhile,the proportion of surficial and interfacial sites varies over this series of catalysts.Combined in situ FTIR experiments revealed that the reaction network was well-tuned via a site cooperation mechanism:The surficial Pt_(0)sites dissociatively adsorb the OH group of glycerol with a monodentate bonding geometry and the Pt^(δ−)-O_(v)-Ti^(3+) sites dissociate the C=O bond of the aldehyde group in a bidentate form.Furthermore,CO-FTIR spectroscopy confirmed a correlation between the reaction rate/product selectivity and the fraction of surficial/interfacial sites.A rational proportion of surficial and interfacial sites is key to enabling a high yield of glyceric acid.The most active catalyst with 32%surface sites and 68%interfacial sites exhibited 90.0%glycerol conversion and 68.5%GLYA selectivity.These findings provide a deeper understanding of the structure-activity relationships using qualitative identification and semi-quantitative analysis. | Mingyu Gao Pengfei Yang Xinyi Zhang Yani Zhang Dianqing Li Junting Feng | 2022 | Fundamental Research2022,2,3: | 0 |
