1Potassium Channels: A Potential Therapeutic Target for Parkinson's Disease显示文摘The pathogenesis of the second major neurodegenerative disorder, Parkinson's disease(PD), is closely associated with the dysfunction of potassium(K^+ ) channels. Therefore, PD is also considered to be an ion channel disease or neuronal channelopathy. Mounting evidence has shown that K^+ channels play crucial roles in the regulations of neurotransmitter release, neuronal excitability, and cell volume. Inhibition of K^+ channels enhances the spontaneous firing frequency of nigral dopamine(DA)neurons, induces a transition from tonic firing to burst discharge, and promotes the release of DA in the striatum.Recently, three K^+ channels have been identified to protect DA neurons and to improve the motor and non-motor symptoms in PD animal models: small conductance(SK)channels, A-type K^+ channels, and KV7/KCNQ channels.In this review, we summarize the physiological and pharmacological effects of the three K^+ channels. 2Characteristics and formation mechanism of regional haze episodes in the Pearl River Delta of China显示文摘To investigate the characteristics and the specific mechanism of continuous haze,comprehensive measurements were conducted from 15 October to 19 November in the Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Super-Station in Heshan of Guangdong province.Five haze episodes occurred in October and November 2014 in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region. The meteorological parameters, gas data, chemical compositions, and optical parameters of the aerosols were obtained. Among these events, the second haze episode,with the highest concentration of PM2.5 of 187.51 μg/m^3, was the most severe. NO^3-was always higher than SO_4^(2-), which indicated that motor vehicles played an important role in the haze, even though the oxidation rate from SO_2 to SO_4^(2-)was faster than that of NOXto NO_3^-. The difference between the hourly averages of Na+and K+during the haze episode and clean days was small, implying that straw combustion and sea salt had no significant effect on the occurrence of haze, and the backward trajectories of the air masses also conformed with this result. The air pollutants were difficult to disperse because of the significant decrease in the planetary boundary layer(PBL) height. 4Modifi cation of wheat bran insoluble and soluble dietary fibers with snail enzyme显示文摘Insoluble dietary fiber(IDF)and soluble dietary fiber(SDF)extracted from wheat bran were modifi ed by snail enzyme and their physicochemical properties(water retention capacity and oil retention capacity),functional properties(cholesterol adsorption capacity,glucose adsorption capacity and antioxidant activity)and structural characterizations were evaluated.The results showed that snail enzyme modification led to the significant increase in oil retention capacity of IDF,glucose adsorption capacity and cholesterol adsorption capacity of IDF and SDF.Enzymatic modification also markedly improved the DPPH radical scavenging capacity and reducing power of IDF and SDF.Meanwhile,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis indicated the microstructures of IDF and SDF powders were signifi cantly changed.Fourier transfer-infrared spectrometry(FT-IR)showed that snail enzyme modifi cation could degrade the part of cellulose and hemicellulose of IDF and SDF.All these improved physicochemical and functional properties of IDF and SDF might depend on their structural changes.It suggested that snail enzyme modifi cation could effectively improve physicochemical and functional properties of IDF and SDF from wheat bran.Xin Liu Keke Suo Pei Wang Xue Li Limin Hao Jiaqing Zhu Juanjuan Yi Qiaozhen Kang Jinyong Huang Jike Lu 2021Food Science and Human Wellness2021,10,3:10

6Perturbative countersurveillance metaoptics with compound nanosieves显示文摘The progress of metaoptics relies on identifying photonic materials and geometries,the combination of which represents a promising approach to complex and desired optical functionalities.Material candidate options are primarily limited by natural availability.Thus,the search for meta-atom geometries,by either forward or inverse means,plays a pivotal role in achieving more sophisticated phenomena.Past efforts mainly focused on building the geometric library of individual meta-atoms and synthesizing various ones into a design.However,those efforts neglected the powerfulness of perturbative metaoptics due to the perception that perturbations are usually regarded as adverse and in need of being suppressed.Here,we report a perturbation-induced countersurveillance strategy using compound nanosieves mediated by structural and thermal perturbations.Private information can be almost perfectly concealed and camouflaged by the induced thermal-spectral drifts,enabling information storage and exchange in a covert way.This perturbative metaoptics can self-indicate whether the hidden information has been attacked during delivery.Our results establish a perturbative paradigm of securing a safer world of information and internet of things.Jiancai Xue Zhang-Kai Zhou Limin Lin Chao Guo Shang Sun Dangyuan Lei Cheng-Wei Qiu Xue-Hua Wang 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:4
7Influence of external electric field on piezotronic effect in ZnO nanowires显示文摘In this work, the piezotronic effect is investigated for the first time in external electric fields ranging from 0 V·cm-I to 2,000 V·cm-1 by using n-type ZnO nanowires supported by a flexible substrate. In the presence of an external electric field, the Schottky barrier height (SBH) is lowered by the image force, allowing more free carriers to pass through the metal-semiconductor junction and enhancing the screening effect on positive piezoelectric polarization charges. As the strength of the external electric field increases, the piezotronic effect is significantly suppressed and the metal-semiconductor contact finally exhibits Ohmic behavior. The experimental results show that devices can be classified into three groups, corresponding to low, moderate, and high carrier densities of the nanowires used. 8Up-regulation of glycolipid transfer protein by bicyclol causes spontaneous restriction of hepatitis C virus replication显示文摘Bicyclol is a synthetic drug for hepatoprotection in clinic since 2004. Preliminary clinical observations suggest that bicyclol might be active against hepatitis C virus(HCV) with unknown mechanism. Here, we showed that bicyclol significantly inhibited HCV replication in vitro and in hepatitis C patients. Using bicyclol as a probe, we identified glycolipid transfer protein(GLTP) to be a novel restrictive factor for HCV replication. The GLTP preferentially bound host vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein-A(VAP-A) in competition with the HCV NS5 A, causing an interruption of the complex formation between VAP-A and HCV NS5 A. As the formation of VAP-A/NS5 A complex is essential for viral RNA replication, up-regulation of GLTP by bicyclol reduced the level of VAP-A/NS5 A complex and thus inhibited HCV replication. Bicyclol also exhibited an inhibition on HCV variants resistant to direct-acting antiviral agents(DAAs) with an efficacy identical to that on wild type HCV. In combination with bicyclol, DAAs inhibited HCV replication in a synergistic fashion. 13A high-quality genome provides insights into the new taxonomic status and genomic characteristics of Cladopus chinensis(Podostemaceae)显示文摘The Podostemaceae are ecologically and morphologically unusual aquatic angiosperms that survive only in rivers with pristine hydrology and high water quality and are at a relatively high risk of extinction.The taxonomic status of Podostemaceae has always been controversial.Here,we report the first high-quality genome assembly for Cladopus chinensis of Podostemaceae,obtained by incorporating Hi-C,Illumina and PacBio sequencing.We generated an 827.92 Mb genome with a contig N50 of 1.42 Mb and 27,370 annotated protein-coding genes.The assembled genome size was close to the estimated size,and 659.42 Mb of the assembly was assigned to 29 superscaffolds(scaffold N5021.22 Mb).A total of 59.20%repetitive sequences were identified,among which long terminal repeats(LTRs)were the most abundant class(28.97%of the genome).Genome evolution analysis suggested that the divergence time of Cladopus chinensis(106 Mya)was earlier than that of Malpighiales(82 Mya)and that this taxon diverged into an independent branch of Podestemales.A recent whole-genome duplication(WGD)event occurred 4.43 million years ago.Comparative genomic analysis revealed that the expansion and contraction of oxidative phosphorylation,photosynthesis and isoflavonoid metabolism genes in Cladopus chinensis are probably related to the genomic characteristics of this growing submerged species.Transcriptome analysis revealed that upregulated genes in the shoot group compared to the root group were enriched in the NAC gene family and transcription factors associated with shoot development and defense responses,including WUSCHEL(WUS),ASYMMETRIC LEAVES(ASL),SHOOT MERISTEMLESS(STM),NAC2,NAC8,NAC29,NAC47,NAC73,NAC83 and NAC102.These findings provide new insights into the genomic diversity of unusual aquatic angiosperms and serve as a valuable reference for the taxonomic status and unusual shoot apical meristem of Podostemaceae.Ting Xue Xuehai Zheng Duo Chen Limin Liang Nan Chen Zhen Huang Wenfang Fan Jiannan Chen Wan Cen Shuai Chen Jinmao Zhu Binghua Chen Xingtan Zhang Youqiang Chen 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:1

15Porphyry Cu deposits linked to episodic growth of an underlying parental magma chamber显示文摘Saindak is one of the typical porphyry Cu deposits(PCDs)in the Chagai magmatic arc in Pakistan.Ore-forming porphyries at Saindak PCD are mainly composed of tonalite.Here,we use geochemistry of apatite enclosed in plagioclase phenocrysts from the ore-forming tonalite to constrain the releasing and recharging processes of S and Cl in the underlying parental magma chamber during PCD mineralization.Although apatite inclusions have homogeneous intra-grain S and Cl compositions,there is significant inter-grain S and Cl variations in apatite inclusions located from core to rim in the hosting plagioclase.Such inter-grain S and Cl variation in apatites are coupled with the core-to-rim trends of An,FeO and Mg contents of the hosting plagioclase phenocryst.It indicates that the Saindak PCD likely formed by episodic injection of primitive magmas during the growth of an underlying magma chamber,rather than by one major injection or by addition of mafic melt derived from different source region.Each primitive melt injection introduced essential ore-forming materials such as S and Cl,which were rapidly and effectively released to the coexisting fluids,causing mineralization.Once primitive melt injection stops,signaling the end of growth of underlying magma chamber,mineralization will cease quickly although the hydrothermal system can still survive for a long time.However,the later released fluids are relatively depleted in ore-forming materials,and thus have lower capability to generate mineralization.Accordingly,predominant porphyry-type mineralizations occurred during the growth rather than waning stage of a magmatic system.Yuanchuan ZHENG Lu WANG Chuandong XUE Bo XU Abdul GHAFFAR Zhusen YANG Yongjun LU Limin ZHOU William L.GRIFFIN Zengqian HOU 2020Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,11:1
16A joint call for actions to advance taxonomy in China显示文摘Taxonomy plays an important role in understanding the origin, evolution, and ecological functionality of biodiversity. There are large number of unknown species yet to be described by taxonomists, which together with their ecosystem services cannot be effectively protected prior to description. Despite this, taxonomy has been increasingly underrated insufficient funds and permanent positions to retain young talents. Further, the impact factordriven evaluation systems in China exacerbate this downward trend, so alternative evaluation metrics are urgently necessary. When the current generation of outstanding taxonomists retires,there will be too few remaining taxonomists left to train the next generation. 18Effects of Plant Spacing,Row Spacing and Seedling Number Allocation on the Growth Dynamics of Different Populations of Two Types of Rice Varieties显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to construct high-yielding,high-quality,and high-light-efficiency population structures of different types of rice varieties.[Methods]The effects of plant spacing,row spacing and seedling number allocation on stems and tillers,leaf area and dynamic traits of high-yielding rice populations(more than 9750 kg/hm^(2))and low-yielding populations(less than 9750 kg/hm^(2))were studied by two kinds of representative rice varieties with different tiller ability and panicle sizes in cold regions.[Results]Decreasing the plant and row spacing and increasing the number of planted seedlings per hole advanced the heading date and made the number of stems and tillers in the population increase.The impact on the super rice variety with fewer tillers and heavier panicles was greater than that of conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles.The stems and tillers of the high-yielding high-quality populations grew steadily in the early stage of development,until an appropriate number of panicles was reached at the critical leaf age for productive tillers(June 25),and the peak seedlings should appear in the jointing stage(July 9)with a small number(that value of Longjing 21,the super rice variety with fewer tillers and heavier panicles,was about 1.2 times the expected panicle number,and that of the conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles,Kongyu 131,was about 1.1 times the expected panicle number).The populations gradually declined since then,until reaching an appropriate number of panicles at the heading stage.The high-yielding high-quality populations had a higher leaf area index at the heading stage.The value of Longjing 21,the super rice variety with fewer tiller and heavier panicles,reached about 6.0,and that of Kongyu 131,the conventional variety with more tillers and lighter panicles,reached about 4.5.The values decreased thereafter.At the maturation stage,the leaf area index of Longjing 21 remained above 2.5,and that of Kongyu 131 remained above 2.0.[Conclusions]This study has an important guiding role and significance for their high-yielding and high-quality supporting cultivation in cold regions.Jingfang XUE Guangshan ZHAO Shuqiang CHEN Xiaodong DU Limin YANG Haixin ZHAO Yongsheng CAI Tong ZHOU Linan WANG Mingxu ZHOU 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,2:1

20Changes in the root system of the herbaceous peony and soil properties under different years of continuous planting and replanting显示文摘The herbaceous peony(Paeonia lactiflora Pall.)has high ornamental value.Replanting problems occur when seedlings are replanted into previous holes.We studied the root system and soil environment of the'Dongjingnvlang'variety under a continuous planting regime of one,four,and seven years,and a replanting regime of one and four years.Under the condition of continuous planting,with the increase of number of years,pH,ammonium nitrogen,and nitrate nitrogen decreased in the rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils,whereas organic matter,available phosphorus and potassium,enzyme activities,and the number of bacteria,fungi,and actinomycetes increased.Under the condition of replanting,with the increase of number of years,fungi and actinomycetes in both soils increased,while pH,organic matter,nutrients,enzyme activities,and bacterial number decreased.pH,organic matter,nutrient content,enzyme activity and the number of bacterial were lower in soil replanted for four years,whereas the abundance of fungi and actinomycetes was higher,altering the soil from“bacterial high-fertility”to“fungal low-fertility”with increasing years of replanting.The activity of antioxidant enzymes and MDA content in roots of peony in replanting were higher than those in continuous planting,while the content of osmotic regulatory substances in replanting was lower than that in continuous planting.The results showed that there were no obvious adverse factors in soil during seven years of continuous planting,and herbaceous peony could maintain normal growth and development.However,soils after four years of replanting were not suitable for herbaceous peony growth.Benzoic acid increased with years of replanting,which potentially caused replanting problems.This study provides a theoretical basis for understanding the mechanism of replanting problems in the herbaceous peony.Anqi Xie Limin Sun Dongliang Zhang Yang Li Zemiao Liu Xue Li Xia Sun 2023Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,4:1
