1Outline of the Report on Cardiovascular Disease in China,2010显示文摘Major and profound changes have taken place in China over the past 30 years.Rapid socioeconomic progress has exerted a great impact on lifestyle,ranging from food,clothing,working and living conditions,and means of transportation to leisure activities and entertainment.At the same time,new health problems have emerged,and health services are facing new challenges.Presently,cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are among the top health problems of the Chinese people,and pose a serious challenge to all engaged in the prevention and control of these diseases.An epidemic of CVD in China is emerging as a result of lifestyle changes,urbanization and longevity.Both national policy decision-making and medical practice urgently need an authoritative report which comprehensively reflects the trends in the epidemic of CVD and current preventive measures.Since 2005,guided by the Bureau of Disease Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China and the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases of China,nationwide experts in the fields of epidemiology,clinical medicine and health economics in the realms of CVD,cerebrovascular disease,diabetes and chronic kidney disease,completed the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China every year.The report aims to provide a timely review of the trend of the epidemic and to assess the progress of prevention and control of CVD.In addition,as the report is authoritative,representative and readable,it will become an information platform in the CVD field and an important reference book for government,academic institutes,medical organizations and clinical physicians.This publication is expected to play a positive role in the prevention and control of CVD in China.We present an abstract from the Report on Cardiovascular Diseases in China (2010),including trends in CVD,morbidity and mortality of major CVDs,up-to-date assessment of risk factors,as well as health resources for CVD,and a profile of medical expenditure,with the aim of providing evidence for decision-making in CVD prevention and control programs in China,and of delivering the most authoritative information on CVD prevention and control for all citizens.HUSheng Shou KONG Ling Zhi GAO Run Lin ZHU Man Lu WANG Wen WANG Yong Jun WU Zhao Su CHEN Wei Wei LIU Ming Bo For the editorial board 2012Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3:93

4Mitochondrial Oxidative Stress Enhances Vasoconstriction by Altering Calcium Homeostasis in Cerebrovascular Smooth Muscle Cells under Simulated Microgravity显示文摘Objective Exposure to microgravity results in postflight cardiovascular deconditioning in astronauts.Vascular oxidative stress injury and mitochondrial dysfunction have been reported during this process.To elucidate the mechanism for this condition,we investigated whether mitochondrial oxidative stress regulates calcium homeostasis and vasoconstriction in hindlimb unweighted(HU)rat cerebral arteries.Methods Three-week HU was used to simulate microgravity in rats.The contractile responses to vasoconstrictors,mitochondrial fission/fusion,Ca^(2+) distribution,inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor(IP3 R)abundance,and the activities of voltage-gated K+channels(KV)and Ca^(2+)-activated K+channels(BKCa)were examined in rat cerebral vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs).Results An increase of cytoplasmic Ca^(2+) and a decrease of mitochondrial/sarcoplasmic reticulum(SR)Ca^(2+) were observed in HU rat cerebral VSMCs.The abundance of fusion proteins(mitofusin 1/2[MFN1/2])and fission proteins(dynamin-related protein 1[DRP1]and fission-mitochondrial 1[FIS1])was significantly downregulated and upregulated,respectively in HU rat cerebral VSMCs.The cerebrovascular contractile responses to vasoconstrictors were enhanced in HU rats compared to control rats,and IP3 R protein/mRNA levels were significantly upregulated.The current densities and open probabilities of KV and BKCa decreased and increased,respectively.Treatment with the mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant mitoTEMPO attenuated mitochondrial fission by upregulating MFN1/2 and downregulating DRP1/FIS1.It also decreased IP3 R expression levels and restored the activities of the KV and BKCa channels.MitoTEMPO restored the Ca^(2+) distribution in VSMCs and attenuated the enhanced vasoconstriction in HU rat cerebral arteries.Conclusion The present results suggest that mitochondrial oxidative stress enhances cerebral vasoconstriction by regulating calcium homeostasis during simulated microgravity.LIU Zi Fan WANG Hai Ming JIANG Min WANG Lin LIN Le Jian ZHAO Yun Zhang SHAO Jun Jie ZHOU Jing Jing XIE Man Jiang LI Xin ZHANG Ran 2021Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,3:3
5Enhancing the stability of astaxanthin by encapsulation in poly (1-lactic acid) microspheres using a supercritical anti-solvent process显示文摘To improve the physicochemical properties of astaxanthin, it was encapsulated in poly (1-lactic acid)(PLLA) using a supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) process with dichloromethane/acetone mixture as the solvent, and supercritical CO2 as the anti-solvent. The effects of altering five SAS operating cond让ions, solvent ratio, temperature, pressure, concentration of carrier, and flow rate, on the microstructure of particles were investigated using an orthogonal experimental design. Under the optimal conditions, astaxanthin/PLLA particles were produced with an encapsulation efficiency of 91.5% and a mean particle size of 954.6 nm. SEM images showed that most astaxanthin/PLLA particles were uniform microspheres. FT-IR spectra showed that the chemical structure of astaxanthin was unchanged by the SAS process. The results of chromatic difference, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric, and differential scanning calorimetry analyses showed that astaxanthin had been encapsulated in the PLLA matrix in an amorphous state. Overall, astaxanthin/PLLA microspheres greatly enhanced the stability of astaxanthin during storage, and the levels of residual solvents were far lower than the ICH lim让s. 10Either transepidermal water loss rates or stratum corneum hydration levels can predict quality of life in children with atopic dermatitis显示文摘Importance:Patients with atopic dermatitis(AD)display compromised epidermal barrier and suffer from poor quality of life.We hypothesized that quality of life could reflect in the changes in the epidermal barrier function.Objective:To determine whether the epidermal barrier function correlates with the severity of pruritus and/or life quality in children with AD.Methods:A total of 120 children,aged 0-12 years,with moderate AD were enrolled.Children were topically treated with topical corticosteroids(TCS)and an emollient for 2 weeks.The Eczema Area and Severity Index(EASI),visual analogue scale(VAS)for pruritus severity,the Infant’s Dermatitis Quality of Life Index(IDQOL)and the Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index(CDLQI)were evaluated.Transepidermal water loss(TEWL)rates,stratum corneum(SC)hydration,and skin surface pH were measured.Correlations of epidermal barrier function with pruritus,life quality,and EASI were determined.Results:Following 2-week treatments,significant improvements were observed in EASI,TEWL,SC hydration,the VAS of pruritus,as well as DQOL(P<0.001 for all).TEWL positively,while SC hydration negatively correlated with VAS pruritus,DQOL,and EASI(P<0.001).Interpretation:Both TEWL and SC hydration levels can serve as indicators of the severity of pruritus and quality of life in children with AD.Shan Wang Chunping Shen Mutong Zhao Lei Jiao Jing Tian Yang Wang Lin Ma Mao-Qiang Mao-Qiang Man 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,4:1
112-(2-Benzofuranyl)-2-imidazoline treatment within 5 hours after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion protects the brain显示文摘We previously demonstrated that administering 2-(2-benzofuranyl)-2-imidazolin(2-BFI), an imidazoline I2 receptor agonist, immediately after ischemia onset can protect the brain from ischemic insult. However, immediate administration after stroke is difficult to realize in the clinic. Thus, the therapeutic time window of 2-BFI should be determined. Sprague-Dawley rats provided by Wenzhou Medical University in China received right middle cerebral artery occlusion for 120 minutes, and were treated with 2-BFI(3 mg/kg) through the caudal vein at 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 hours after reperfusion. Neurological function was assessed using the Longa's method. Infarct volume was measured by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride assay. Morphological changes in the cortical penumbra were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining under transmission electron microscopy. The apoptosis levels in the ipsilateral cortex were examined with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling(TUNEL) assay. The protein expression of Bcl-2 and BAX was detected using immunohistochemistry. We found the following: Treatment with 2-BFI within 5 hours after reperfusion obviously improved neurological function. Administering 2-BFI within 9 hours after ischemia/reperfusion decreased infarct volume and alleviated apoptosis. 2-BFI administration at different time points after reperfusion alleviated the pathological damage of the ischemic penumbra and reduced the number of apoptotic neurons, but the protective effect was more obvious when administered within 5 hours. Administration of 2-BFI within 5 hours after reperfusion remarkably increased Bcl-2 expression and decreased BAX expression. To conclude, 2-BFI shows potent neuroprotective effects when administered within 5 hours after reperfusion, seemingly by up-regulating Bcl-2 and down-regulating BAX expression. 14Tissue expression,association analysis between three novel SNPs of the RXRαgene and growth traits in Chinese indigenous cattle显示文摘Retinoid X receptor(RXR) α is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily that mediates the biological effects on several hormones,vitamins,and regulates lipid,glucose and energy metabolism.In this study,the tissue expression profiles of the bovine RXRαgene and association analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) with growth traits were carried out in 413 Chinese native cattle.The expression profile was analysed in ten Jiaxian cattle tissues by real-time PCR,and the results showed that RXRαgene was abundantly expressed in adipose tissue and spleen,moderately expressed in heart,liver,lung,kidney,muscle and testis.Meanwhile,three SNPs(T27919A,T28139C and G28142A) and five haplotypes were identified.Haplotype with TTG was dominant with frequency of 69.1%.Chi-square test showed all populations were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P>0.05) at the three sites except Jiaxian cattle at G28142A site and Qinchuan cattle at T27919A site.Statistical analysis of combined sites showed that the individuals with TTGA genotype had significantly higher heart girth than those with TAGG genotype(P<0.05) and the animals with AAGA genotype had higher body weight than those with TAGG genotype(P<0.05) in T27919A-G28142A site.Heart girth,abdominal circumference and body weight of individuals with TCAG genotype were exceedingly higher than those with TTGG(P<0.01),TTGA and TCGG(P<0.05) in T28139C-G28142A site.For T27919A-T28139C site,the individuals of TCTA and TCTT genotype had significantly higher heart girth and lower height at hip cross than those with TTTA(P<0.05),and the body weight of TCAA and TCTT genotype individuals was higher than those with TTTA(P<0.05).In conclusion,these results provided evidence that the polymorphisms of RXRαgene were associated with growth traits and might apply to Chinese indigenous yellow cattle breeding program as a possible candidate for marker-assisted selection(MAS).MA Yun GAO HanTing LIN Feng CHEN NingBo XU YongJie JIANG JinHang LI Fen LU FangRu ZHAO Man SHI KuiLin CHENG Ni LI JunYa 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,18:1

17Clinical Effect of an Improved Post-Operative Feeding Protocol“in Transition”Infants of Congenital Heart Disease with Pulmonary Hypertension显示文摘Background:To achieve successful management of infants with congenital heart disease(CHD)together with pulmonary hypertension(PH),postoperative care,especially feeding care is vital in addition to surgery.Postoperative feeding is comprised of three stages:feeding in the intensive care unit,feeding in the general ward and family feeding,in which the general ward is considered as the“transitional stage”.At present,there is little research on the optimal mode of feeding care for the transitional stage,and there is no universally recognized and accepted protocol.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 114 CHD infants with PH who underwent family-centered(FC)feeding care from July 2017 to December 2018,and prospectively studied 122 CHD infants with the same baseline level who adopted the improved mode,nurse-parent-driven(NPD)feeding mode from January 2019 to June 2020.The feasibility and efficacy of NPD as a“transitional”feeding nursing mode in CHD infants with PH were compared with the FC cohort by observing and analyzing the stress of family caregivers,feedingrelated complications,the proportion of breastfeeding,improvement of nutritional status,acquisition of knowledge and skills of feeding care,inpatient’s satisfaction rating and prognosis.Results:When compared with the FC feeding care,the NPD mode significantly reduced the burden of family caregivers,improved the rate of feeding care knowledge and skills and inpatient’s satisfaction rating,reduced the incidence of improper feeding-related complications,and enhanced the proportion of breastfeeding and nutritional status of infants at the“transitional stage”(all P<0.05).The self-assessment score of care ability of family caregivers and weight gain of children in the NPD group were significantly higher than those in the FC group(all P<0.05)during the follow-up.Conclusions:As a transitional mode of feeding in CHD infants with PH,NPD feeding care is superior to the conventional FC mode,which therefore can be adopted as a standard protocol in clinical practice.Huaying He Zhiyong Lin Yuelan Weng Jianjie Zhou Man Ye Xiaowei Luo Qifeng Zhao 2021Congenital Heart Disease2021,16,6:0
18Assessment of the potential toxicity of insecticidal compounds to Peristenus spretus,a parasitoid of mirid bugs显示文摘With the increased cultivation of Bt crops in China,Apolygus lucorum and other mirid bugs have emerged as important agricultural pests because they are insensitive to the Bt proteins.In addition,the reduction of pesticide applications after planting Bt crops also increases the severity of mirid bug outbreaks.Peristenus spretus is a parasitoid of mirid nymphs,but its sensitivity to Bt proteins is not known.In the current study,we developed a dietary exposure assay to assess the effects of Bt proteins(Cry1Ab,Cry1Ac,Cry1F,Cry2Aa,and Cry2Ab)on P.spretus adults using a diet consisting of a 10% honey solution with or without Bt proteins at 400μg g^(-1) diet.The results showed that the survival and reproduction of P.spretus adults were reduced by the cysteine protease inhibitor E-64(a positive control)but were not affected by any of the five Bt proteins.The activities of digestive,detoxifying,and antioxidant enzymes in P.spretus were also unaffected by diets containing the Cry proteins,but they were significantly affected by the diet containing E-64.We then developed a tritrophic bioassay to determine the effects of the five Bt proteins on P.spretus larvae and pupae.In this assay,A.lucorum nymphs fed an artificial diet containing Cry proteins were used as the hosts for P.spretus.The results of the tri-trophic assay indicated that neither the pupation rate nor the eclosion rate of the P.spretus parasitoids were significantly affected by the presence of high concentrations of Bt proteins in the parasitized A.lucorum nymphs.The overall results indicate that these two assays can be used to evaluate the toxicity of insecticidal compounds to P.spretus and that the tested Cry proteins are not toxic to P.spretus.ZHAO Man LI Yun-he NIU Lin-lin CHEN Lin LIANG Ge-mei 2022Journal of Integrative Agriculture2022,21,5:0
