4Simultaneous adsorption of lead and cadmium on MnO_2-loaded resin显示文摘MnO2-loaded D301 weak basic anion exchange resin has been used as adsorbent to simultaneously remove lead and cadmium ions from aqueous solution.The effects of adsorbent dosage,solution pH and the coexistent ions on the adsorption were investigated.Experimental results showed that with the adsorbent dosage more than 0.6 g/L,both Pb 2+ and Cd2+ were simultaneously removed at pH range 5-6.Except for HPO 42+ ,the high concentration coexistent ions such as Na + ,K + ,Cl+ ,NO3-,SO42+ and HCO3-,showed no significant effect on the removal efficiency of both Pb2+ and Cd2+ under the experimental conditions.The coexistence of Mg2+ ,Ca2+ caused the reduction of Cd2+ removal,but not for Pb2+ .The adsorption equilibrium for Pb2+ and Cd 2+ could be excellently described by the Langmuir isotherm model with R2 > 0.99.The maximum adsorption capacity was calculated as 80.64 mg/g for Pb2+ and 21.45 mg/g for Cd2+ .The adsorption processes followed the pseudo first-order kinetics model.MnO2-loaded D301 resin has been shown to have a potential to be used as an effective adsorbent for simultaneous removal of lead and cadmium ions from aqueous solution.Lijing Dong,Zhiliang Zhu,Hongmei Ma,Yanling Qiu,Jianfu ZhaoState Key Laboratory of Pollution Control and Resource Reuse,Tongji University,Shanghai 200092,China 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2:16
5Single-cell transcriptomic atlas of primate cardiopulmonary aging显示文摘Aging is a major risk factor for many diseases,especially in highly prevalent cardiopulmonary comorbidities and infectious diseases including Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19).Resolving cellular and molecular mechanisms associated with aging in higher mammals is therefore urgently needed.Here,we created young and old non-human primate single-nucleus/cell transcriptomic atlases of lung,heart and artery,the top tissues targeted by SARS-CoV-2.Analysis of cell type-specific aging-associated transcriptional changes revealed increased systemic inflammation and compromised virus defense as a hallmark of cardiopulmonary aging.With age,expression of the SARS-CoV-2 receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)was increased in the pulmonary alveolar epithelial barrier,cardiomyocytes,and vascular endothelial cells.We found that interleukin 7(IL7)accumulated in aged cardiopulmonary tissues and induced ACE2 expression in human vascular endothelial cells in an NF-κB-dependent manner.Furthermore,treatment with vitamin C blocked IL7-induced ACE2 expression.Altogether,our findings depict the first transcriptomic atlas of the aged primate cardiopulmonary system and provide vital insights into age-linked susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2,suggesting that geroprotective strategies may reduce COVID-19 severity in the elderly.Shuai Ma Shuhui Sun Jiaming Li Yanling Fan Jing Qu Liang Sun Si Wang Yiyuan Zhang Shanshan Yang Zunpeng Liu Zeming Wu Sheng Zhang Qiaoran Wang Aihua Zheng Shuguang Duo Yang Yu Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte Piu Chan Qi Zhou Moshi Song Weiqi Zhang Guang-Hui Liu 2021Cell Research2021,31,4:10
6Preparation,characterization and photocatalytic properties of BiOBr/ZnO composites显示文摘BiOBr/ZnO composite photocatalysts were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM), UV–Vis diffusion reflectance spectroscopy(DRS) and photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy, respectively. The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the degradation of methyl blue(MB) under the simulated sunlight irradiation. Among all the samples, the BiOBr/ZnO composite with a mole ratio of 3:1(Bi:Zn) exhibited the best photocatalytic activity. The improvement of photocatalytic activity was mainly attributed to the low recombination ratio of photo-induced electron-hole pairs. 7Warming moxibustion attenuates inflammation and cartilage degradation in experimental rabbit knee osteoarthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the molecular mechanism of warming moxibustion(WM)in knee osteoarthritis(KOA).METHODS:The knee joints of 40 New Zealand rabbits were placed in a plaster cast in an extended position to establish a KOA model.The animals were randomly divided into four groups:the control group,model group,WM group,and diclofenac(DF)group.Hematoxylin-eosin staining and the modified Mankin score were applied to evaluate the histopathological changes.Chondrocyte apoptosis was determined by the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling(TUNEL)assay.Western blotting and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction were performed to measure the expression of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),prostaglandin E receptor 3(PTGER3),a disintegrin-like and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin type-1 motifs-5(ADAMTS-5),matrix metalloproteinase-13(MMP-13),and C-terminal telopeptides of collagen typeⅡ(CTX-Ⅱ)in cartilage tissues of the different groups.The concentrations of IL-1β,PTGER3,and CTX-Ⅱin serum were detected by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Rabbits with KOA in the WM and DF groups showed significantly reduced cartilage erosion and Mankin scores,compared with the untreated rabbits.The number of TUNEL-positive cells observed in the WM group was much fewer than that in the model group.The expression of PTGER3,MMP-13,CTX-Ⅱ,IL-1β,and ADAMTS-5 in cartilage tissues was remarkably downregulated following therapy with WM and DF.Moreover,a marked reduction was observed in the serum levels of IL-1β,PTGER3,and CTX-Ⅱin the WM and DF groups.CONCLUSION:WM exerts favorable therapeutic effects on articular injuries of KOA by regulating the expression of inflammatory and cartilage degradation-related cytokines.LIU Di WU Yongli LI Chun WANG Minglei MA Xiaoxiu LIU Junwei ZHANG Yanling YANG Lei 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,6:9

9Identification of the lower limit of high-quality source rocks and its relation to hydrocarbon accumulation——Taking the Beier Sag in the Hailaer Basin as an example显示文摘The theory of 'source rock control' has evolved from source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, to effective source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation, and to high-quality source-rock-control hydrocarbon accumulation. However, there are problems, such as whether high-quality source rocks exist or not? What high-quality source rocks are, and how to identify them, are yet to be agreed upon. Aimed at this issue of concern to explorationists, and taking the Beier Sag in the Hailaer Basin as an example, this paper defines the high-quality source rocks and the lower limit for evaluation of high-quality source rocks, by using the inflection point on the relationship curve of hydrocarbon (oil) expulsion, which is calculated by the material balance principle, versus total organic carbon (TOC). The results show that when TOC is low, all source rocks have limited hydrocarbon expulsion and slow growth rate, thus they cannot be high-quality source rocks. However, when TOC rises to some threshold, hydrocarbon expulsion increases significantly with TOC. This inflection point should be the lower limit of high-quality source rocks: those with TOC greater than the inflection-point value are high-quality source rocks. In addition, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks is also related to the type and maturity of organic matters in the source rocks, as well as the mineral components of the source rocks affecting the residual hydrocarbons. Theoretically, the lower limit of high-quality source rocks depends on geological conditions rather than being a constant value. However, for the sake of simplicity and practicability, in this paper TOC=2.0% is regarded as the lower limit of high-quality source rocks. The examination of such standard in the work area indicates that the high-quality source rocks in members K 1 n 2 and K 1 n 1 of the Nantun formation contribute 76% and 82% to oil generation, and 96% and 91% to oil expulsion , respectively. 10Stable isotope fractionation of chlorine during evaporation of brine from a saline lake显示文摘Brine from the saline Qarhan Lake was evaporated at 28±2°C in a clean environment.Two groups of experiments were conducted;one with complete separation of precipitate and brine at different stages of evaporation,and the other with continuous precipitation during the evaporation.Seventy-nine precipitate and brine samples were collected during the experiments,and the δ37 Cl values were determined using an improved thermal ionization mass spectrometry procedure for precise measurement of chlorine isotopes based on Cs2Cl+ ions.Based on the concentrations of Na+,K+,and Mg2+,evaporation was divided into three main precipitation stages as follows:halite dominant,carnallite dominant,and bischofite dominant.The δ37 Clsolid and δ37 Clliquid values of the precipitate and coexisting brine samples at different stages showed the following characteristics.The precipitates were enriched with 37 Cl relative to the coexisting brine samples,and the δ37 Cl of both the precipitate and brine samples decreased gradually during evaporation.The fractionation factors(αh) between halite and brine were the highest,followed by that(αc) between carnallite and brine,and then that(αb) between bischofite and brine.The αc and αb values of less than one,which indicate the precipitate is enriched in 35 Cl,were found when the evaporation process entered a new stage.However,the δ37 Cl values of carnallite,bischofite,and the coexisting brine samples decreased during evaporation.The residual brine is a 35 Cl reservoir.The experimental phenomena were consistent with the δ37 Cl values in saline deposits in the literature.δ37 Cl can be used as an indicator of brine evaporation processes,which is important in the exploration of sylvinite deposits.LUO ChongGuang XIAO YingKai MA HaiZhou MA YunQi ZHANG YanLing HE MaoYong 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,15:6
11A Utility-Based Buffer Management Policy for Improving Data Dissemination in Opportunistic Networks显示文摘In opportunistic networks, most existing buffer management policies including scheduling and passive dropping policies are mainly for routing protocols. In this paper, we proposed a Utility-based Buffer Management strategy(UBM) for data dissemination in opportunistic networks. In UBM, we first design a method of computing the utility values of caching messages according to the interest of nodes and the delivery probability of messages, and then propose an overall buffer management policy based on the utility. UBM driven by receivers completely implements not only caching policies, passive and proactive dropping policies, but also scheduling policies of senders. 13Prospects of Carboniferous Shale Gas Exploitation in the Eastern Qaidam Basin显示文摘Shale gas is a resource of emerging importance in the energy field. Many countries in the world have been making big financial investments in this area. Carboniferous shale in the eastern Qaidam Basin shows good exploration prospects, but limited research and exploration work for shale oil and gas resources has been undertaken. Geochemical analyses were performed on shale derived from the Upper Carboniferous Hurleg Formation in the eastern Qaidam Basin, Qinghai Province, and secondary electron imaging capability of a Field Emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM) was used to characterize the microstructure of the shale. The reservoir and exploitation potential of the studied shale was assessed by comparison with research results obtained from the Barnett Formation shale in Fort Worth Basin, North America and the Basin shale of Sichuan province. The results indicate that the eastern Qaidam Basin Carboniferous shale is high-quality source rock. There are four major microstructural types in the study area: matrix intergranular pores, dissolution pores, intergranular pores, and micro-fractures. The size of the micropores varies from 6–633 nm, the majority of which is between 39–200 nm, with a relatively small number of micro-scale pores ranging from 0.13–1 μm. The pore characteristics of the studied shales are similar to the North American and Sichuanese shales, indicating that they have good reservoir potential. No micropores are present in the organic matter, which is induced by its composition; instead we found an important lamellar structure in the organic matter. These micropores and microfractures are abundant, and are connected to natural visible cracks that form the network pore system, which controls the storage and migration of shale gas. 19Thrombin is a therapeutic target for non-small-cell lung cancer to inhibit vasculogenic mimicry formation显示文摘Tumor cells transform into endothelial cells by epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition,which is characterized by vasculogenic mimicry(VM).VM not only accelerates tumor progression but also increases drug-induced resistance.However,very little is currently known about the molecular determinants that enable VM.Targeting VM might bring a new breakthrough in cancer treatment.Thrombin is the key enzyme of the blood coagulation system and could contribute to tumor progression.Nevertheless,the association between thrombin and VM formation remains largely unknown.We found that VM was associated with the overall survival of non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients,and that thrombin expression was closely related to VM formation.This research revealed that thrombin induced VM formation via PAR-1-mediated NF-κB signaling cascades.The novel thrombin inhibitors r-hirudin and DTIP inhibited VM formation and spontaneous metastases in subcutaneous tumors.Clinical pathological analysis confirmed that NSCLC patients with thrombin-positive/PAR-1-high expression had the poorest prognosis and were the most likely to form VM.The promotional activity of thrombin in VM formation and tumor metastasis was abolished in PAR-1-deficient NSCLC cells.The EGFR inhibitor gefitinib had no effect on VM and increased VEGF expression in tumors.The combination therapy of DTIP and gefitinib achieved a better therapeutic effect than either agent alone.This study is the first to illustrate that thrombin substantially contributes,together with PAR-1,to VM formation and to illustrate that VM might be a target of r-hirudin and DTIP to suppress tumor progression.The anticoagulants r-hirudin and DTIP could be employed for antitumor therapy.Combination therapy with DTIP with an EGFR inhibitor might achieve superior therapeutic effects.Bing Zhao Mengfang Wu Zhihuang Hu Yixin Ma Wang Qi Yanling Zhang Yaran Li Min Yu Huijie Wang Wei Mo 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:2
20Effects of third-order dispersion on temporal soliton compression in dispersion-engineered silicon photonic crystal waveguides显示文摘High-order temporal soliton compression in dispersion-engineered silicon photonic crystal waveguides will play an important role in future integrated photonic circuits compatible with complementary metal–oxide–semiconductors.Here,we report the physical mechanisms of high-order temporal soliton compression affected by third-order dispersion(TOD)combined with free carrier dispersion(FCD)in a dispersion engineered silicon photonic crystal waveguide with wideband low anomalous dispersion.Through numerical temporal soliton evolution analysis,we report what we believe is the first demonstration of the dual opposite effects of TOD on temporal soliton compression,which are strengthening or weakening through two different physical mechanisms,not only depending on the sign of TOD but also the relative magnitude of TOD-induced equivalent group velocity dispersion(GVD)β2,equto the original GVDβ2.We further find that FCD counteracts the effects of negative TOD on the soliton compression,while it reinforces the effects of positive TOD on the soliton compression.These results will help to design suitable dispersion-engineered silicon waveguides for superior on-chip temporal pulse compression in optical communications and processing application fields.JIALI LIAO YANG GAO YANLING SUN LIN MA ZHENZHONG LU XIUJIAN LI 2020Photonics Research2020,8,5:2
