| 1 | Whole-genome sequencing provides insights into the genetic diversity and domestication of bitter gourd(Momordica spp.)显示文摘Bitter gourd(Momordica charantia)is a popular cultivated vegetable in Asian and African countries.To reveal the characteristics of the genomic structure,evolutionary trajectory,and genetic basis underlying the domestication of bitter gourd,we performed whole-genome sequencing of the cultivar Dali-11 and the wild small-fruited line TR and resequencing of 187 bitter gourd germplasms from 16 countries.The major gene clusters(Bi clusters)for the biosynthesis of cucurbitane triterpenoids,which confer a bitter taste,are highly conserved in cucumber,melon,and watermelon.Comparative analysis among cucurbit genomes revealed that the Bi cluster involved in cucurbitane triterpenoid biosynthesis is absent in bitter gourd.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the TR group,including 21 bitter gourd germplasms,may belong to a new species or subspecies independent from M.charantia.Furthermore,we found that the remaining 166 M.charantia germplasms are geographically differentiated,and we identified 710,412,and 290 candidate domestication genes in the South Asia,Southeast Asia,and China populations,respectively.This study provides new insights into bitter gourd genetic diversity and domestication and will facilitate the future genomics-enabled improvement of bitter gourd. | Junjie Cui Yan Yang Shaobo Luo Le Wang Rukui Huang Qingfang Wen Xiaoxia Han Nansheng Miao Jiaowen Cheng Ziji Liu Changyuan Zhang Chengcheng Feng Haisheng Zhu Jianwen Su Xinjian Wan Fang Hu Yu Niu Xiaoming Zheng Yulan Yang Dai Shan Zhensheng Dong Weiming He Narinder P.S.Dhillon Kailin Hu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 7 |
| 2 | Establishment and evaluation of a peanut association panel and analysis of key nutritional traits显示文摘Breeding programs aim to improve the yield and quality of peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.); using association mapping to identify genetic markers linked to these quantitative traits could facilitate selection efficiency. A peanut association panel was established consisting of 268 lines with extensive phenotypic and genetic variation, meeting the requirements for association analysis. These lines were grown over 3 years and the key agronomic traits, including protein and oil content were examined. Population structure(Q) analysis showed two subpopulations and clustering analysis was consistent with Q-based membership assignment and closely related to botanical type. Relative Kinship(K) indicated that most of the panel members have no or weak familial relatedness, with 52.78% of lines showing K ? 0. Linkagedisequilibrium(LD) analysis showed a high level of LD occurs in the panel. Model comparisons indicated false positives can be effectively controlled by taking Q and K into consideration and more false positives were generated by K than Q. A preliminary association analysis using a Q t K model found markers significantly associated with oil, protein, oleic acid, and linoleic acid, and identified a set of alleles with positive and negative effects. | 3 | The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. | 4 | Face Detection Detection, Alignment Alignment, Quality Assessment and Attribute Analysis with Multi-Task Hybrid Convolutional Neural Networks显示文摘This paper proposes a universal framework,termed as Multi-Task Hybrid Convolutional Neural Network(MHCNN),for joint face detection,facial landmark detection,facial quality,and facial attribute analysis.MHCNN consists of a high-accuracy single stage detector(SSD)and an efficient tiny convolutional neural network(T-CNN)for joint face detection refinement,alignment and attribute analysis.Though the SSD face detectors achieve promising results,we find that applying a tiny CNN on detections further boosts the detected face scores and bounding boxes.By multi-task training,our T-CNN aims to provide five facial landmarks,facial quality scores,and facial attributes like wearing sunglasses and wearing masks.Since there is no public facial quality data and facial attribute data as we need,we contribute two datasets,namely FaceQ and FaceA,which are collected from the Internet.Experiments show that our MHCNN achieves face detection performance comparable to the state of the art in face detection data set and benchmark(FDDB),and gets reasonable results on AFLW,FaceQ and FaceA. | GUO Da ZHENG Qingfang PENG Xiaojiang LIU Ming | 2019 | ZTE Communications2019,17,3: | 5 |
| 5 | Regulatory effect of salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate supplementation on ergosterol production in Hericium erinaceus mycelia显示文摘We evaluated the biomass and ergosterol content of Hericium erinaceus mycelium, and extracellular enzyme activities in H. erinaceus liquid culture following salicylic acid(SA) and methyl jasmonic acid(Me JA)supplementation. The optimal SA concentration was100 lmoláL-1, where the highest ergosterol content of 2.33 mgág-1was obtained following 6-day cultivation with100 lmoláL-1SA supplementation, and which was significantly higher than the unsupplemented control(p \ 0.01). Following 4-day supplementation with50 lmoláL-1Me JA, the highest ergosterol content obtained was 1.988 mgág-1, which was 25.8 % higher than the unsupplemented control. | 6 | Effect of nitrogen limitation on antioxidant qualities is highly associated with genotypes of lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)显示文摘Antioxidants are highly beneficial to human health, and their accumulation in lettuce, one of the most popular leafy vegetables, depends on both genetic and environmental factors. Nitrogen(N) availability plays an essential role in regulating antioxidant accumulation, but the influence of genotype × N interactions on the antioxidant qualities of lettuce is poorly understood. Therefore, the present study investigated the variation of growth and antioxidant qualities of 20 lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.) genotypes(10 green lettuce genotypes and 10 red lettuce genotypes) under limited N(low N, LN) conditions and standard N(high N, HN) conditions. For all 20 genotypes, LN conditions reduced shoot(i.e., leaf) growth, but increased plant concentrations of vitamin C,glutathione, and phenolic compounds, with the exception of carotenoids, compared with HN conditions. Because of reduced biomass under LN conditions, not all lettuce genotypes exhibited increased antioxidant yields or total antioxidant capacity yield. The variation in antioxidant quality was primarily genetically determined. Generally, the green lettuce genotypes exhibited more pronounced increases in antioxidant yields and total antioxidant capacity yield than the red lettuce genotypes under LN conditions. These results suggest that even though LN conditions generally tend to improve the antioxidant qualities of lettuce, the extent of this effect is highly dependent on genotype. | 8 | Efficient CO_2 capture on low-cost silica gel modified by polyethyleneimine显示文摘In this work,a series of polyethyleneimine(PEI) functionalized commercial silica gel were prepared by wet impregnation method and used as CO 2 sorbent.The as-prepared sorbents were characterized by N 2 adsorption,FT-IR and SEM techniques.CO 2 capture was tested in a fixed bed reactor using a simulated flue gas containing 15.1% CO 2 in a temperature range of 25-100 C.The effects of sorption temperature and amine content on CO 2 uptake of the adsorbents were investigated.The silica gel with a 30 wt% PEI loading manifested the largest CO 2 uptake of 93.4 mg CO 2 /g adsorbent(equal to 311.3 mg CO 2 /g PEI) among the tested sorbents under the conditions of 15.1%(v/v) CO 2 in N 2 at 75 C and atmospheric pressure.Moreover,it was rather low-cost.In addition,the PEI-impregnated silica gel exhibited stable adsorption-desorption behavior during 5 consecutive test cycles.These results suggest that the PEI-impregnated silica gel is a promising and cost-effective sorbent for CO 2 capture from flue gas and other stationary sources with low CO 2 concentration. | Ke Wang Hongyan Shang Lin Li Xinlong Yan Zifeng Yan Chenguang Liu Qingfang Zha | 2012 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2012,21,3: | 4 |
| 9 | Generation and antitumor effects of an engineered and energized fusion protein VL-LDP-AE composed of single-domain antibody and lidamycin显示文摘Type IV collagenase plays a pivotal role in invasion, metastasis and angiogenesis of tumor. Single domain antibodies are attractive as tumor-targeting vehicle because of their much smaller size com-pared with antibody molecules produced by conventional methods. Lidamycin (LDM) is a potent enediyne-containing antitumor antibiotic. In this study an engineered and energized fusion protein VL-LDP-AE composed of lidamycin and VL domain of mAb 3G11 directed against type IV collagenase was prepared using a novel two-step method. First a VL-LDP fusion protein was constructed by DNA recombination. Secondly VL-LDP-AE was obtained by molecular reconstitution. In MTT assay, VL-LDP-AE showed potent cytotoxicity to HT-1080 cells and KB cells with IC50 values of 8.55×10-12 and 1.70×10-11 mol/L, respectively. VL-LDP-AE showed antiangiogenic activity in chick chrorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay and tube formation assay. In in vivo experiments, VL-LDP-AE was proved to be more effective than free LDM against the growth of subcutaneously transplanted hepatoma 22 in mice. Drugs were given intravenously on day 3 and 10 after tumor transplantation. Compared in terms of maximal tolerated doses, VL-LDP-AE at 0.25 mg/kg suppressed the tumor growth by 89.5%, LDM at 0.05 mg/kg by 69.9%, and mitomycin at 1 mg/kg by 35%. Having a molecular weight of 25.2 kDa, VL-LDP-AE was much smaller than other reported antibody-based drugs. The results suggested that VL-LDP-AE would be a promising candidate for tumor targeting therapy. | 13 | An Experimental and Analytical Study on Cross-Laminated Bamboo Rocking Walls with Friction Dampers显示文摘Cross-laminated bamboo(CLB)have a high strength to weight ratio and stable bidirectional mechanical properties.Inspired by the investigation on cross-laminated timber(CLT)rocking walls,CLB rocking walls with conventional friction dampers(CFDs)are studied in this paper.To investigate the mechanical properties of the CLB rocking wall,seven tests are conducted under a cyclic loading scheme,and different test parameters,including the existence of the CFDs,the moment ratio,and the loading times,are discussed.The test results show a bilinear behavior of the CLB rocking wall.The small residual displacements of the CLB rocking wall demonstrate an idealized self-centering capacity.The cumulative energy dissipation curves indicate that the energy dissipation capacity of the CLB rocking wall can be greatly improved with CFDs.The limit states of the CLB rocking wall under a lateral force are proposed based on the strains,stress,and damage level of the CLB material and posttensioned rebar.In addition,an analytical model of the CLB rocking wall is developed based on the proposed limit states of the CLB rocking wall to evaluate the hysteretic response of the CLB rocking wall,and the model is validated by the experimental data.The comparison results show the potential value of the analytical model for engineering design. | Qingfang Lv Tongchen Han Ye Liu Yi Ding Yujie Lu | 2021 | Journal of Renewable Materials2021,9,10: | 2 |
