| 1 | One-year clinical study of NeuroR egen scaffold implantation following scar resection in complete chronic spinal cord injury patients显示文摘The objective of this clinical study was to assess the safety and feasibility of the collagen scaffold, Neuro Regen scaffold, one year after scar tissue resection and implantation. Scar tissue is a physical and chemical barrier that prevents neural regeneration. However, identification of scar tissue is still a major challenge. In this study, the nerve electrophysiology method was used to distinguish scar tissue from normal neural tissue, and then different lengths of scars ranging from 0.5–4.5 cm were surgically resected in five complete chronic spinal cord injury(SCI) patients. The NeuroR egen scaffold along with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMMCs), which have been proven to promote neural regeneration and SCI recovery in animal models, were transplanted into the gap in the spinal cord following scar tissue resection. No obvious adverse effects related to scar resection or Neuro Regen scaffold transplantation were observed immediately after surgery or at the 12-month follow-up. In addition, patients showed partially autonomic nervous function improvement, and the recovery of somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEP) from the lower limbs was also detected. | 2 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 5 | MOFs derived magnetic porous carbon microspheres constructed by core-shell Ni@C with high-performance microwave absorption显示文摘Lightweight and high-performance are two determining factors for metal-organic-frameworks(MOFs)derived microwave absorbers.However,most of the reported MOFs derived absorbers usually possess high filler loading.Herein,a series of MOFs derived magnetic porous carbon microspheres with tunable diameter and high specific surface area have been synthesized via a pyrolysis process.The synthesized magnetic porous carbon microspheres,constructed by uniformly distributed core-shell Ni@C,exhibit high-performance microwave absorption with a low filler loading of 10 wt%.Considering the mciro-mesoporous structures,matched impedance,strong conductive loss,enhanced dipolar/interfacial polarization as well as strong magnetic coupling network,a minimum reflection loss of-60 dB and an absorption bandwidth of 7.0 GHz can be achieved at 2.6 mm.Moreover,the bandwidth reaches as wide as 10.2 GHz when the thickness is 4 mm.In addition,compared with other MOFs derived absorbers,this work provides us a simple strategy for the synthesis of porous carbon microspheres with lightweight and high-performance microwave absorption for practical applications. | Sai Gao Guozheng Zhang Yi Wang Xiaopeng Han Ying Huang Panbo Liu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,29: | 4 |

| 7 | Soil freezing process and different expressions for the soil-freezing characteristic curve显示文摘The soil-freezing characteristic curve(SFCC),which represents the relationship between unfrozen water content and subfreezing temperature(or suction at ice-water interface)in a freezing soil,can be used for understanding the transportation of heat,water,and solute in frozen soils.In this paper,the soil freezing process and the similarity between the SFCC of saturated frozen soil and soil-water characteristic curve(SWCC)of unfrozen unsaturated soil are reviewed.Based on similar characteristics between SWCC and SFCC,a conceptual SFCC is drawn for illustrating the main features of soil freezing and thawing processes.Various SFCC expressions from the literature are summarized.Four widely used expressions(i.e.,power relationship,exponential relationship,van Genuchten 1980 equation and Fredlund and Xing 1994 equation)are evaluated using published experimental data on four different soils(i.e.,sandy loam,silt,clay,and saline silt).Results show that the exponential relationship and van Genuchten(1980)equation are more suitable for sandy soils.The simple power relationship can be used to reasonably best-fit the SFCC for soils with different particle sizes;however,it exhibits limitations when fitting the saline silt data.The Fredlund and Xing(1994)equation is suitable for fitting the SFCCs for all soils studied in this paper. | Jun Ping Ren Sai K.Vanapalli Zhong Han | 2017 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2017,9,3: | 3 |
| 8 | Analysis of gene expression patterns with cDNA microarray during late stage of spermatogenesis in mice显示文摘The differentiation process of round spermat-ids to spermatozoa during the late stage of spermatogenesis is called spermiogenesis. To explore spermiogenesis-related genes, cDNA microarray was used to study expression patterns of 1176 genes in pachytene spermatocytes, round spermatids and elongating spermatids of Balb/c mice. The results showed that 208 genes were detected in all the three cell types. Most of them were down-regulated from pachytene spermatocytes to round spermatids and elongating spermatids. However, up-regulation of 7 genes expression in round spermatids and 3 genes in elongating spermatids were found. Expression of 7 differentially expressed genes in cDNA arrays was further confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR study. The RT-PCR results indicated that the expression of 6 genes was consistent with that in cDNA arrays, only one gene did not show differential expression by RT-PCR. | 12 | Improved MPEG-4 High-Efficiency AAC With Variable-Length Soft-Decision Decoding of the Quantized Spectral Coefficients显示文摘MPEG-4 High-Efficiency Advanced Audio Coding (HE-AAC) is designed for low bit rate applications, such as audio streaming in mobile communications. The HE-AAC audio codec offers a better coding efficiency since variable-length codes (VLCs) are adopted. However, HE-AAC has originally been designed for storage and error-free transmission conditions. For the transmission over bit error-prone channels, error propagation is a serious problem for the VLCs. Therefore, a robust HE-AAC decoder is desired, especially for mobile communications. In contrast to traditional hard-decision decoding, utilizing bit-wise channel reliability information, softdecision (SD) decoding has been known to offer better audio quality. In HE-AAC, the global gain parameter is coded with fixedlength codes (FLCs), while the scale factors and quantized spectral coefficients are coded with VLCs. In this work, we apply FL/SD decoding to the global gain parameter, VL/SD decoding to the parameters scale factors and quantized spectral coefficients. Especially, in order to apply VL/SD decoding to the quantized spectral coefficients, a new modified trellis representation in VL/SD decoding is proposed. | 15 | Involvement of NLRP3-inflammasome pathway in noise-induced hearing loss显示文摘The inflammasome is a multiprotein oligomer in the cell cytoplasm and is part of the innate immune system.It plays a crucial role in the pathological process of noise-induced hearing loss(NIHL).However,the mechanisms of NLR family pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome activation in NIHL have not been clearly demonstrated.In this study,miniature pigs were exposed to white noise at 120 dB(A)and auditory brainstem response measurements were used to measure their hearing function.Immunofluorescence staining,confocal laser scanning microscopy,western blot assay,and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction were used to analyze inflammasome-related protein distribution and expression.NLRP3,interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,and cleaved-caspase-1 were highly expressed in the cochlea after 120 dB(A)white noise exposure.Our findings suggest that NLRP3-inflammasomes in the cochlea may be activated after acoustic trauma,which may be an important mechanism of noise-induced hearing loss. | Na Sai Yuan-Yuan Yang Long Ma Da Liu Qing-Qing Jiang Wei-Wei Guo Wei-Ju Han | 2022 | Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,12: | 2 |

| 19 | Distribution,characteristics and influencing factors of fresh groundwater resources in the Loess Plateau,China显示文摘The fresh groundwater in the Loess Plateau serves as a major source of water required for the production and livelihood of local residents and is greatly significant for regional economic and social development and ecological protection.This paper analyzes the hydrogeological conditions and groundwater characteristics in the Loess Plateau,expatiates on the types and distribution characteristics of the fresh groundwater in the plateau,and analyzes the influencing factors and mechanisms in the formation of the fresh groundwater in the plateau as a priority.Based on this,it summarizes the impacts of human activities and climatic change on the regional fresh groundwater.The groundwater in Loess Plateau features uneven temporal-spatial distribution,with the distribution space of the fresh groundwater closely relating to precipitation.The groundwater shows a distinct zoning pattern of hydrochemical types.It is fresh water in shallow parts and is salt water in deep parts overall,while the fresh water of exploration value is distributed only in a small range.The storage space and migration pathways of fresh groundwater in the loess area feature dual voids,vertical multilayers,variable structure,poor renewability,complex recharge processes,and distinct spatial differences.In general,the total dissolved solids(TDS)of the same type of groundwater tends to gradually increase from recharge areas to discharge areas.Conditions favorable for the formation of fresh groundwater in loess tablelands include the low content of soluble salts in strata,weak evaporation,and special hydrodynamic conditions.Owing to climate change and human activities,the resource quantity of regional fresh water tends to decrease overall,and the groundwater dynamic field and the recharge-discharge relationships between groundwater and surface water have changed in local areas.Human activities have a small impact on the water quality but slightly affect the water quantity of the groundwater in loess. | Hai-xue Li Shuang-bao Han Xi Wu Sai Wang Wei-po Liu Tao Ma Meng-nan Zhang Yu-tao Wei Fu-qiang Yuan Lei Yuan Fu-cheng Li Bin Wu Yu-shan Wang Min-min Zhaoa Han-wen Yang Shi-bo Wei | 2021 | China Geology2021,4,3: | 1 |
| 20 | Abnormal expression of cen-trosome protein (centrin) in spermatozoa of male human infertility显示文摘To study the relations between male infertility and centrosome protein (centrin) and the functions of centrin in spermatogenesis, the matured spermatozoa of 10 normal male people and 18 male infertility patients were stained by immunofluorescence labeling antibody against centrin. The results showed that two fluorescence signal dots appeared in the normal male spermatozoa and were located at the base of flagellum. They are proximal centriole and distal centriole. However, in some spermatozoa of the male infertility, centrin protein was located abnormally at the base of flagellum and its staining signals were spread, the normal proximal and distal centrioles were confused and could not be recognized separately. These results suggest that abnormality of centrosome protein may be related to male infertility.
