| 1 | Aptamer-quantum dots and teicoplanin-gold nanoparticles constructed FRET sensor for sensitive detection of Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘The detection of bacterial pathogen such as Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus) is essential for the regulation of food hygiene and disease diagnosis.Herein,we developed a simple one-step fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET)-based sensor for specific and sensitive detection of S.aureus in food and serum samples,in which aptamer-modified quantum dots(aptamer-QDs) was employed as the energy donor and antibiotic of teicoplanin functionalized-gold nanoparticles(Teico-AuNPs) was chosen as the energy acceptor.Within 1 h,the FRET-based sensor showed a linear range of from 10 cfu/mL to 5 × 10^(8) cfu/mL,with the low limit of detection(LOD,2 cfu/mL) for S.aureus in buffer.When further applied to assay S.aureus in real samples,the FRET-based sensor showed good recoveries ranging from 84.5% to 110.0%,with relative standard derivations(RSDs) of 0.01%-0.44% and a LOD of 100 cfu/mL in milk,orange juice and human serum. | Xiaoqi Tao Ziyi Liao Yaqing Zhang Fei Fu Mengqi Hao Yang Song Erqun Song | 2021 | Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,2: | 5 |
| 2 | Higher dietary protein increases growth performance,anti-oxidative enzymes activity and transcription of heat shock protein 70 in the juvenile sea urchin(Strongylocentrotus intermedius)under a heat stress显示文摘This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary protein concentration(12%,18%,24%,30% and 36%)on the growth performance,activity of anti-oxidative enzymes and heat shock protein 70(HSP70)transcription in the sea urchin(Strongylocentrotus intermedius)under a heat stress.After 112 days of feeding trial the sea urchins were heat stressed(26C)and the coelomic fluid and intestine sampled at time 0 and 15 min,2 h and 6 h.The results showed that an increase in dietary protein(12%-24%),significantly increased(p<0.05)the sea urchin weight gain rate(WGR).As dietary protein increased(from 18% to 36%),the gonadosomatic index(GI)of juvenile sea urchins also significantly increased(p<0.05)from 18.0%to 22.6%.Superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity increased with dietary protein increase(12%-30%)and the enzyme activity was significantly higher(p<0.05)in the coelomic fluid of sea urchins that were fed with 30% diets when compared to 12% and 36% protein diets at all time points after the heat stress.Catalase(CAT)activity showed a similar tendency with the increase in dietary protein concentration at time 0 and 15 min after the heat stress(p<0.05).Transcription of HSP70 in the intestine also showed a similar trend to SOD and was highest in the animals that were fed with 30% protein diets(p<0.05).Our results suggest that 24% protein diets could meet the requirements for growth performance but a 30% protein diet resulted in improved gonad development and anti-heat stress capacity in this sea urchin species. | Rantao Zuo Shouquan Hou Fanxiu Wu Jian Song Weijie Zhang Chong Zhao Yaqing Chang | 2017 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2017,2,1: | 2 |

| 4 | Relationships between body weight and other morphological traits in young sea cucumbers Apostichopus japonicas显示文摘Correlation, multiple regression, and path analyses were used to investigate the relationships between body weight and three other morphological traits in juvenile Japanese sea cucumbers Apostichopus japonicus . We measured live body weight (BW), body length (BL), numbers of papillae (NP), and numbers of tube feet (NF) at 60, 80, 100, and 130 days post-hatching (dph). We calculated path correlation coefficients, correlation indices ( R 2 ), and coefficients of determination with BW as the dependent variable and the other morphological traits as independent variables. The coefficient of variation for BW was high across all age groups, and all measured morphological traits were significantly correlated ( P < 0.01). BL had the greatest direct eff ect on BW across all age groups (60 dph, 0.526;80 dph, 0.404;100 dph, 0.620;and 130 dph, 0.681), while NF had the greatest indirect eff ect on BW across all age groups (60 dph, 0.528;80 dph, 0.452;100 dph, 0.666;and 130 dph, 0.603). Regression analyses between morphological traits and BW indicated that R 2 was greater than 0.85 only in the 100-dph specimens. The indirect eff ects of the other measured morphological traits on BW were age-dependent. | 6 | Tall gastrodis tuber combined with antiepileptic drugs repairs abnormal perfusion foci in focal epilepsy显示文摘One hundred patients with focal epilepsy were recruited for the present study and their seizures controlled with antiepileptic drugs. The patients then orally received a capsule of tall gastrodis tuber powder, a traditional Chinese drug, and underwent single photon emission computed tomography, long-term electroencephalogram, and CT/MRI. Blood drug levels were monitored throughout the study. Before treatment with tall gastrodis tuber, 35 of the 100 cases had abnormal CT/MRI scans; 79 cases had abnormal single photon emission computed tomography images; 86 cases had abnormal electroencephalogram; and a total of 146 abnormal perfusion foci were observed across the 100 subjects. After treatment, the number of patients with normal single photon emission computed tomography images increased by 12; normal electroencephalogram was observed in an additional 27 cases and the number of patients with epileptiform discharge decreased by 29 (34% of 86); the total number of abnormal perfusion foci decreased by 52 (36%) and changes in abnormal foci were visible in 65 patients. These changes indicate that the administration of tall gastrodis tuber in combination with antiepileptic drugs repairs abnormal perfusion foci in patients with focal epilepsy. | 8 | Dissipation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in crop soils amended with oily sludge显示文摘Oil fields present a potential ecological risk to nearby farmland soil. Here we present a new method designed to evaluate the ability of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum) to contribute to the dissipation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), which are priority pollutants in soils contaminated by oily sludge. The influence of different doses of oily sludge on the dissipation of PAHs was studied along with individual PAH profiles in soils after different periods of plant growth. Five soil samples were artificially contaminated with different percentages of oily sludge(0 %, 5 %, 10 %, 15 % and 20 %). Winter wheat grew in the oily sludge–amended soils for 265 days.PAH content in the soils was monitored over the course of the study. The rate of PAH dissipation is related to the properties of different PAHs, period of winter wheat growth, and oily sludge application dose. Analysis for treated soils indicates that the dissipation of PAHs increased significantly over the first 212 days, followed by minimal changes over the final 53 days of treatment. In contrast, PAH dissipation slowed with increasing oily sludge application. For each PAH, the experimental results showed a significant compound-dependent trend.
