| 1 | Protective effects of electroacupuncture on acetylsalicylic acid-induced acute gastritis in rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate the protective effects of electroacupuncture (EA) pretreatment on acetylsalicylic acid (ASA)-induced ulceration in rats. METHODS: We randomly divided 72 rats into three groups including control (administered with distilled water), ASA group (administered 100 mg/kg ASA) and EA group (administered EA + 100 mg/kg ASA). Each rat was fasted for 18 to 24 h before experimentation, and lesion scores, gastric acidity, cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and -2 mRNA levels, and total nitric oxide (NO) concentration were measured. RESULTS: The lesion scores of the EA group were significantly lower than those of the ASA group. Gastric acidity of the ASA and EA groups was reduced compared to the control group. COX-1 and -2 mRNA levels were significantly increased in the EA group as compared to the control and ASA groups, and NO levels were also significantly increased in the EA group as compared to the ASA group. | 9 | Effects of the Syzygium aromaticum L. extract on antioxidation and inhibition of matrix metalloproteinase in human dermal fibroblast显示文摘Objective: To investigate cosmetic potential of Syzygium aromaticum L.(S. aromaticum L.) and to determine its antioxidant and anti-wrinkling effects. Methods: Using highperformance liquid chromatography, eugenol component was quantitated. The antioxidant activity of S. aromaticum L. was analyzed by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging and superoxide dismutase like activities. To determine cell viability, elastase and matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) activity, human dermal fibroblasts(HS68) were treated with S. aromaticum L. The inhibitory effect of S. aromaticum L. on tumor necrosis factor alpha induced MMPs expression in HS68 was analyzed by realtime-PCR. Results: The eugenol content was confirmed in S. aromaticum L. S. aromaticum L. was observed to have high 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging activity and superoxide dismutase like activity. S. aromaticum L. had no cytotoxicity against the HS68 and dose-dependently increased elastase inhibition. Moreover, S. aromaticum L. significantly decreased MMP-1 content and inhibited gene levels of MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3 and MMP-9. | 19 | Assessment of pathogens and risk factors associated with bloodstream infection in the year after pediatric liver transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND Bloodstream infection(BSI)is one of the most significantly adverse events that can occur after liver transplantation(LT)in children.AIM To analyze the profile of BSI according to the postoperative periods and assess the risk factors after pediatric LT.METHODS Clinical data,collected from medical charts of children(n=378)who underwent primary LT,were retrospectively reviewed.The primary outcome considered was BSI in the first year after LT.Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors for BSI and respective odds ratios(ORs).RESULTS Of the examined patients,106(28%)experienced 162 episodes of pathogen-confirmed BSI during the first year after LT.There were 1.53±0.95 episodes per children(mean±SD)among BSIcomplicated patients with a median onset of 0.4 mo post-LT.The most common pathogenic organisms identified were Coagulase-negative staphylococci,followed by Enterococcus spp.and Streptococcus spp.About half(53%)of the BSIs were of unknown origin.Multivariate analysis demonstrated that young age(≤1.3 year;OR=2.1,P=0.011),growth failure(OR=2.1,P=0.045),liver support system(OR=4.2,P=0.008),and hospital stay of>44 d(OR=2.3,P=0.002)were independently associated with BSI in the year after LT.CONCLUSION BSI was frequently observed in patients after pediatric LT,affecting survival outcomes.The profile of BSI may inform clinical treatment and management in high-risk children after LT. | Yeong Eun Kim Ho Jung Choi Hye-Jin Lee Hyun Ju Oh Mi Kyoung Ahn Seak Hee Oh Jung-Man Namgoong Dae Yeon Kim Won Kyoung Jhang Seong Jong Park Dong-Hwan Jung Deok Bog Moon Gi-Won Song Gil-Chun Park Tae-Yong Ha Chul-Soo Ahn Ki-Hun Kim Shin Hwang Sung Gyu Lee Kyung Mo Kim | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022，28，11： | 0 |
