| 1 | Identification of a senescence-related protease in coriander leaves显示文摘Senescence-related protease may play an important role in leaf senescence. By improved SDS-Gela-tin-PAGE assay, a 63 ku senescence-related protease (63 SRP) in coriander leaves was identified. Activity of 63 SRP was increased in parallel to the advance of coriander leaf senescence, and inhibited by treating the leaf with gibberellic acid, and enhanced by ethylene treatment. The 63 SRP was suggested to be a serine protease based on the fact that its activity was inhibited by the protease inhibitor PMSF. The optimal temperature for the activity of the 70 ku protease was 50°C. The maximal activity was observed at pH 6-9, some activity could be observed on the gel slices incubated at pH 5 or 11. | 2 | Clinical and genetic findings in a Chinese family with VDR-associated hereditary vitamin D-resistant rickets显示文摘Hereditary vitamin D-resistant rickets(HVDRR) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by severe rickets,hypocalcemia,hypophosphatemia,secondary hyperparathyroidism,and elevated alkaline phosphatase.This disorder is caused by homogeneous or heterogeneous mutations affecting the function of the vitamin D receptor(VDR),which lead to complete or partial target organ resistance to the action of 1,25-dihydroxy vitamin D.A non-consanguineous family of Chinese Han origin with one affected individual demonstrating HVDRR was recruited,with the proband evaluated clinically,biochemically and radiographically.To identify the presence of mutations in the VDR gene,all the exons and exon–intron junctions of the VDR gene from all family members were amplified using PCR and sequenced.The proband showed rickets,progressive alopecia,hypocalcemia,hypophosphatemia,secondary hyperparathyroidism,and elevated alkaline phosphatase.She also suffered from epilepsy,which is rarely seen in patients with HVDRR.Direct sequencing analysis revealed a homozygous missense mutation c.122G4A(p.C41Y) in the VDR gene of the proband,which is located in the first zinc finger of the DNA-binding domain.Both parents had a normal phenotype and were found to be heterozygous for this mutation.We report a Chinese Han family with one individual affected with HVDRR.A homozygous missense mutation c.122G4A(p.C41Y) in the VDR gene was found to be responsible for the patient's syndrome.In contrast to the results of treatment of HVDRR in other patients,our patient responded well to a supplement of oral calcium and a low dose of calcitriol. | Qianqian Pang Xuan Qi Yan Jiang Ou Wang Mei Li Xiaoping Xing Jin Dong Weibo Xia | 2016 | Bone Research2016,4,1: | 9 |

| 7 | Effects of methylphenidate on resting-state brain activity in normal adults: an fMRI study显示文摘Methylphenidate (MPH) is one of the most commonly used stimulants for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Although several studies have evaluated the effects of MPH on human brain activation during specific cognitive tasks using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), few studies have focused on spontaneous brain activity. In the current study, we investigated the effect of MPH on the intra-regional synchronization of spontaneous brain activity during the resting state in 18 normal adult males. A handedness questionnaire and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale were applied before medication, and a resting-state fMRI scan was obtained 1 h after medication (20 mg MPH or placebo, order counterbalanced between participants). We demonstrated that: (1) there were no significant differences in the performance of behavioral tasks between the MPH and placebo groups; (2) the left middle and superior temporal gyri had stronger MPH-related regional homogeneity (ReHo); and (3) the left lingual gyrus had weaker MPH-related ReHo. Our findings showed that the ReHo in some brain areas changes with MPH compared to placebo in normal adults, even though there are no behavioral differences. | 11 | Changes in Extractable and Non-extractable Polyphenols and Their Antioxidant Properties during Fruit On-tree Ripening in Five Peach Cultivars显示文摘To evaluate the changes of total phenolic content and antioxidant capacities of five peach cultivars, this work measured them separately in extractable polyphenols and non-extractable polyphenols during the last month of ripening. Total phenolic content was detected using the Folin-Ciocalteau reagent, while total antioxidant activity was detected by DPPH and FRAP assay. In addition, the contribution of extractable polyphenols and non-extractable polyphenols to the total antioxidant activity of peaches was investigated. It is noted that ripening caused a decrease of total phenolic content associated to extractable polyphenols and non-extractable polyphenols by 45.1%–74.6%, 20.7%–41.7%, respectively. Additionally, total antioxidant activity decreased over the ripening period with a high correlation with total phenolic content. | 20 | Quasi-Solid-State Ion-Conducting Arrays Composite Electrolytes with Fast Ion Transport Vertical-Aligned Interfaces for All-Weather Practical Lithium-Metal Batteries显示文摘The rapid improvement in the gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs)with high ionic conductivity brought it closer to practical applications in solid-state Li-metal batteries.The combination of solvent and polymer enables quasi-liquid fast ion transport in the GPEs.However,different ion transport capacity between solvent and polymer will cause local nonuniform Li+distribution,leading to severe dendrite growth.In addition,the poor thermal stability of the solvent also limits the operating-temperature window of the electrolytes.Optimizing the ion transport environment and enhancing the thermal stability are two major challenges that hinder the application of GPEs.Here,a strategy by introducing ion-conducting arrays(ICA)is created by vertical-aligned montmorillonite into GPE.Rapid ion transport on the ICA was demonstrated by 6Li solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance and synchrotron X-ray diffraction,combined with computer simulations to visualize the transport process.Compared with conventional randomly dispersed fillers,ICA provides continuous interfaces to regulate the ion transport environment and enhances the tolerance of GPEs to extreme temperatures.Therefore,GPE/ICA exhibits high room-temperature ionic conductivity(1.08 mS cm^(−1))and long-term stable Li deposition/stripping cycles(>1000 h).As a final proof,Li||GPE/ICA||LiFePO_(4) cells exhibit excellent cycle performance at wide temperature range(from 0 to 60°C),which shows a promising path toward all-weather practical solid-state batteries. | Xinyang Li Yong Wang Kai Xi Wei Yu Jie Feng Guoxin Gao Hu Wu Qiu Jiang Amr Abdelkader Weibo Hua Guiming Zhong Shujiang Ding | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,12: | 1 |
