3Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 4The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 5Pressure balance and imbalance in the optic nerve chamber: The Beijing Intracranial and Intraocular Pressure (iCOP) Study显示文摘To determine the interdependence of intracranial pressure(ICP) and intraocular pressure(IOP) and how it affects optic nerve pressures, eight normal dogs were examined using pressure-sensing probes implanted into the left ventricle, lumbar cistern, optic nerve subarachnoid space in the left eye, and anterior chamber in the left eye. This allowed ICP, lumbar cistern pressure(LCP), optic nerve subarachnoid space pressure(ONSP) and IOP to be simultaneously recorded. After establishing baseline pressure levels, pressure changes that resulted from lowering ICP(via shunting cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) from the ventricle) were recorded. At baseline, all examined pressures were different(ICP>LCP>ONSP), but correlated(P<0.001). As ICP was lowered during CSF shunting, IOP also dropped in a parallel time course so that the trans-lamina cribrosa gradient(TLPG) remained stable(ICP-IOP dependent zone). However, once ICP fell below a critical breakpoint, ICP and IOP became uncoupled and TLPG changed as ICP declined(ICP-IOP independent zone). The optic nerve pressure gradient(ONPG) and trans-optic nerve pressure gradient(TOPG) increased linearly as ICP decreased through both the ICP-IOP dependent and independent zones. We conclude that ICP and IOP are coupled in a specific pressure range, but when ICP drops below a critical point, IOP and ICP become uncoupled and TLPG increases. When ICP drops, a rise in the ONPG and TOPG creates more pressure and reduces CSF flow around the optic nerve. 6Global cultivated land mapping at 30 m spatial resolution显示文摘Cultivated land is one of the most important types of land cover in the global mapping of land cover, and its variation influences economic development, food security, and ecological environment protection. Existing products of global cultivated land mapping have a low resolution, and high spatial resolution products are in demand. This study uses global remote sensing image datasets in 2000/2010 with a spatial resolution of 30 m(Landsat TM/ETM+, HJ-1), MODIS 250 m NDVI time-serial data, and many types of reference data. An three-layer extraction method based on pixels, objects, and knowledge(POK) was adopted to ease cultivated land extraction in global-scale 30 m images, i.e., cultivated land classification based on pixel-scale multi-feature optimization, cultivated land automatic identification based on objects, and interactive object processing based on information service and priori knowledge. Global 30 m cultivated land mapping was accomplished for the two reference years(2000 and 2010), and statistical analysis was conducted on the data. Results showed that the total cultivated land area was 1.903 billion ha and 1.960 billion ha, respectively. Accuracy assessments showed that overall accuracy of global cultivated land mapping are higher than 92% for both the two reference years. The global cultivated land products in 2000/2010 developed in this research are superior to their international counterparts in terms of spatial resolution and classification accuracy. 7Detection of infrared photons with a superconductor显示文摘A superconductor single photon detector based on NbN nanowire was fabricated using electron beam lithography (EBL) and reactive ion etching (RIE) for infrared photon detection. When biased well below its critical current at 4.2 K, NbN nanowire is very sensitive to the incident photons. Typical telecommunication photons with a wavelength of 1550 nm were detected by this detector. 10Design and fabrication of superconducting HEB mixer显示文摘This paper describes the design and fabrication of superconducting hot electron bolometer (HEB) mixer based on ultra-thin superconducting NbN films. The high quality films were epitaxially grown on high resistance Si substrates. The device was fabricated by magnetron sputtering, electron beam lithography (EBL), reactive ion etching (RIE), lithography, and so on. The device's resistance-tempera-ture (R-T) curves and current-voltage (I-V) curves were studied. The results of THz response of the device are presented. Y-factor technique was used to measure the device's noise temperature. 11Character and fabrication of Al/Al_2O_3/Al tunnel junctions for qubit application显示文摘The superconductive Josephson junction is the key device for superconducting quantum computation. We have fabricated Al/Al2O3/Al tunnel junctions using a double angle evaporation method based on a suspended shadow mask. The Al2O3 junction barrier has been formed by introducing pure oxygen into the chamber during the fabrication process. We have adjusted exposure conditions by changing either the oxygen pressure or the oxidizing time during the formation of tunnel barriers to control the critical current density Jc and the junction specific resistance Rc. 13Application of isotopic and hydro-geochemical methods in identifying sources of mine inrushing water显示文摘Isotopic and hydro-geochemical surveys were carried out to identify the source of mine inrushing water at the #73003 face in the Laohutai Mine. Based on the analysis of isotopes and hydro-chemical features of surface water, groundwater from different levels and the inrushing water, a special relationship between water at the #73003 face and cretaceous water has been found. The results show that the isotopic and hydro-chemical features of the inrushing water are completely different from those of other groundwater bodies, except for the cretaceous water. The isotopic and hydrochemical characteristics of cretaceous water are similar to the inrushing water of the #73003 face, which aided with obtaining the evidence for the possible source of the inrushing water at the #73003 face. The isotope calculations show that the inrushing water at the #73003 face is a mixture of cretaceous water and Quaternary water. Water from the cretaceous conglomerate is the main source, accounting for 67% of the inrushing water, while the Quaternary water accounts for 33%. 17Global mapping of artificial surfaces at 30-m resolution显示文摘Urbanization is expected to accelerate with population growth and economic development at the global scale. The artificial surface is the main land cover form of urbanization. On the one hand, urbanization provides spaces for industry, economic activities and residence. On the other hand, artificial surfaces change the earth surface to a large extent, thus significantly affecting natural processes such as the heat exchange, hydrological processes and ecological balance. Therefore, the global mapping of artificial surfaces is valuable for both natural science and social science. This study produced the global artificial surface maps at 30-m resolution for two base-years using the satellite images acquired around 2000 and 2010. First, we proposed a new definition of 'artificial surface' based on patch level with consideration of its geographic meaning and image features at 30-m resolution. Second, pixel-based and object-based image processing techniques were combined for the extraction of artificial surface patches. Finally, human editing and a quality control system were employed to guarantee the quality of global mapping. Independent accuracy assessments show that the user's accuracy of this product is higher than 80%. It can be concluded that the product is the most reliable one among all the available global datasets of artificial surfaces(or related types). 19Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 20Resveratrol inhibits angiotensin II-induced ERK1/2 activation by downregulating quinone reductase 2 in rat vascular smooth muscle cells显示文摘Our previous studies showed that resveratrol could inhibit the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and repress mRNA and protein expression of quinone reductase 2 (NQO2).This study further explored the potential mechanisms whereby resveratrol inhibits the proliferation of rat VSMCs.Lentiviral vectors that incorporated NQO2 small interfering RNA (siRNA) were constructed and transduced into rat VSMCs.The cell proliferation was detected using the bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) assay.Cultured rat VSMCs were stimulated with angiotensin II and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) was measured using a ROS assay kit.A realtime quantitative PCR was used to detect NQO2 mRNA levels.Extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2) and NQO2 protein expression were determined by Western blotting analysis.The inhibitory effect of resveratrol (10 and 50 μmol/L) on the proliferation of rat VSMCs in the NQO2 siRNA group was significantly weaker than that in the normal and scrambled siRNA group (P < 0.01).The ROS level in the NQO2 siRNA and resveratrol (50 μmol/L) treatment groups were lower than that in the normal and scrambled siRNA groups (P < 0.01 in both).Compared with the normal and scrambled siRNA group,the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 was significantly decreased in the NQO2 siRNA and resveratrol (50 μmol/L) treatment group (P < 0.01 in both).In conclusion,high concentration of resveratrol inhibits angiotensin II-induced ERK1/2 phosphorylation and subsequent proliferation by down-regulation of NQO2 in cultured rat VSMCs.Xiwen Zhang Yao Wang Weiwei Yang Xiaofeng Hou Jiangang Zou Kejiang Cao 2012The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,2:2
