| 1 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 3 | Development and effectiveness of pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system as determined by neutralizing efficiency and entry inhibition test in vitro显示文摘With the development of the COVID-19 epidemic,there is an urgent need to establish a system for determining the effectiveness and neutralizing activity of vaccine candidates in biosafety level 2(BSL-2)facilities.Previously,researchers had developed a pseudotyped virus systemfor SARS-CoV andMERS-CoV,based onHIV-1 core,bearing virus spike protein.During the development of a pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system,a eukaryotic expression plasmid expressing SARSCoV-2 spike(S)protein was constructed and then co-transfectedwith HIV-1 based plasmid which containing the firefly luciferase reporter gene,into HEK293T cells to prepare the pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 virus(ppSARS-2).We have successfully established the pseudotyped SARS-CoV-2 system for neutralization and entry inhibition assays.Huh7.5 cell line was found to be the most susceptible to our pseudotyped virus model.Different levels of neutralizing antibodies were detected in convalescent serum samples of COVID-19 patients using ppSARS-2.The recombinant,soluble,angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 protein was found to inhibit the entry of ppSARS-2 in Huh7.5 cells effectively.Furthermore,the neutralization results for ppSARS-2 were consistent with those of live SARS-CoV-2 and determined using the serum samples fromconvalescent patients.In conclusion,we have developed an easily accessible and reliable tool for studying the neutralizing efficiency of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and the entry process of the virus in a BSL-2 laboratory. | Ren Yang Baoying Huang Ruhan A Wenhui Li Wenling Wang Yao Deng Wenjie Tan | 2020 | Biosafety and Health2020,2,4: | 5 |

| 8 | The Extra-Area Effect in 71 Cloud Seeding Operations during Winters of 2008–14 over Jiangxi Province, East China显示文摘Effects of weather modification operations on precipitation in target areas have been widely reported, but little is specifically known about the downwind (extra-area) effects in China. We estimated the extra-area effect of an operational winter (November-February) aircraft cloud-seeding project in northern Jiangxi Province in eastern China by using a revised historical target/control regression analysis method based on the precipitation data in winter. The results showed that the overall seasonal average rainfall at the downwind stations increased by 21.67%(p=0.0013). This enhancement effect was detected as far as 120 km away from the target area. Physical testing was used to compare the cloud characteristics before and after seeding on 29 November 2014. A posteriori analysis with respect to the characteristics of cloud units derived from operational weather radar data in Jiangxi was performed by tracking cloud units. Radar features in the target unit were enhanced relative to the control unit for more than two hours after the operational cloud seeding, which is indicative of the extra-area seeding effect. A fuzzy point estimate method was proposed by Dodagoudar, that is, considering the effect of fuzzy-random factors, the fuzzy-random limit state function of slopes is changed to random interval limit state function by the λ level cutting, then the moments of the function can be obtained by the Rosenblueth' s method, and the stability state of slopes can be evaluated by synthesizing a group of moments. But in Dodagoudar's method, Rosenblueth's state function is composed of only two kinds of combinations of parameters rather than 2n kinds of combinations.
