1Enhanced and irreversible sorption of pesticide pyrimethanil by soil amended with biochars显示文摘Biochar derived from partial combustion of vegetation is ubiquitous and potentially effective in sequestration of environmental contaminants.Biochars were prepared by burning of red gum(Eucalyptus spp.) woodchips at 450 and 850°C(labeled as BC450 and BC850).These two biochars were found to possess markedly different properties in terms of surface area and porosity.Short-term equilibration tests(24 hr) were conducted to assess the sorption-desorption behavior of pyrimethanil in the soil amended with various amounts of biochar of each type,with a special focus on the desorption behavior of the sorbed pesticide through four times successive desorption by dilution.Sorption coefficient and isotherm nonlinearity of the amended soils progressively increased with the content of biochar in the soil.Biochar BC850 with higher surface area and microporosity showed a stronger effect on the reversibility of sorption pesticide.The soils amended with 5% BC450 and 1% BC850 had nearly the same sorption capacity for pyrimethanil;however,their desorption processes were very different with 13.65% and 1.49% of the sorbed pesticide being released,respectively.This study suggested that biochar in soil could be an important factor for immobilization of a pesticide and thus affecting its environment fate in soil.Xiangyang Yu Ligang Pan Guangguo Ying Rai S. 2Wnt and BMP signaling crosstalk in regulating dental stem cells:Implications in dental tissue engineering显示文摘Tooth is a complex hard tissue organ and consists of multiple cell types that are regulated by important signaling pathways such as Wnt and BMP signaling.Serious injuries and/or loss of tooth or periodontal tissues may significantly impact aesthetic appearance,essential oral functions and the quality of life.Regenerative dentistry holds great promise in treating oral/dental disorders.The past decade has witnessed a rapid expansion of our understanding of the biological features of dental stem cells,along with the signaling mechanisms governing stem cell self-renewal and differentiation.In this review,we first summarize the biological characteristics of seven types of dental stem cells,including dental pulp stem cells,stem cells from apical papilla,stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth,dental follicle precursor cells,periodontal ligament stem cells,alveolar bone-derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),and MSCs from gingiva.We then focus on how these stem cells are regulated by bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)and/or Wnt signaling by examining the interplays between these pathways.Lastly,we analyze the current status of dental tissue engineering strategies that utilize oral/dental stem cells by harnessing the interplays between BMP and Wnt pathways.We also highlight the challenges that must be addressed before the dental stem cells may reach any clinical applications.Thus,we can expect to witness significant progresses to be made in regenerative dentistry in the coming decade.Fugui Zhang Jinlin Song Hongmei Zhang Enyi Huang Dongzhe Song Viktor Tollemar Jing Wang Jinhua Wang Maryam Mohammed Qiang Wei Jiaming Fan Junyi Liao Yulong Zou Feng Liu Xue Hu Xiangyang Qu Liqun Chen Xinyi Yu Hue H.Luu Michael J.Lee Tong-Chuan He Ping Ji 2016Genes & Diseases2016,3,4:16
3The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 4Rapid growth and sterility of growth hormone gene transgenic triploid carp显示文摘Triploid carp(100%)with 150(3n=150)chromosomes were obtained by crossing the females of improved tetraploid hybrids(♀, 4n=200)of red crucian carp(♀)×common carp(♂)with the males of diploid yellow river carp(♂,2n=100).The crosses yielded transgenic triploid carp(positive triploid fish,44.2%of the progeny)and non-transgenic triploid carp(negative triploid fish). Histological examination of the gonads of 24-month-old positive triploid fish suggested they were sterile and the fish were not able to produce mature gametes during the breeding season.Morphologically,both the positive and negative triploid fish were similar.They had a spindle-shaped,laterally compressed,steel grey body with two pairs of barbells.Most of the quantifiable traits of the triploid carp were intermediate between those of the two parents.The positive and negative triploid fish were raised in the same pond for 2 years.The mean body weight of the positive triploid fish was 2.3 times higher than the negative triploid fish.The weight of the largest positive triploid fish was 2.91 times higher than that of the largest negative triploid fish.Thus,we produced fast-growing transgenic triploid carp that have a reduced ecological risk because of their inability to mate and produce progeny.YU Fan XIAO Jun LIANG XiangYang LIU ShaoJun ZHOU GongJian LUO KaiKun LIU Yun HU Wei WANG YaPing ZHU ZuoYan 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16:11
5LncRNA-MALAT1 mediates cisplatin resistance via miR-101-3p/VEGF-C pathway in bladder cancer显示文摘The mitotically associated lncRNA(MANCR)participates in breast cancer cell proliferation,while its involvement in other cancers is still unknown.In this study,we therefore studied the role of MANCR in mantle cell lymphoma(MCL).We found that serum MANCR and Runt-related transcription factor 2(RUNX2)were upregulated in MCL patients when compared with those in healthy controls.A positive correlation between serum MANCR and RUNX2 was found in MCL patients but not in controls.Upregulation of serum MANCR distinguished MCL patients from controls.MANCR overexpression promoted RUNX2 expression in MCL cells,while RUNX2 overexpression failed to significantly change the expression levels of MANCR.MANCR overexpression promoted the proliferation of MCL cells,while MANCR silencing inhibited the proliferation of MCL cells.In addition,RUNX2 overexpression attenuated the inhibitory effects of MANCR silencing on cell proliferation.However,MANCR overexpression and silencing had no significant effects on cell migration and invasion.Further bioinformatics analysis showed that MANCR may sponge miR-218 to upregulate RUNX2.Therefore,we conclude that downregulation of MANCR may inhibit cancer cell proliferation in MCL possibly by interacting with RUNX2.Peihua Liu Xiaozhou Li Yu Cui Jinbo Chen Chao Li Qiaqia Li Huihuang Li Xiangyang Zhang Xiongbing Zu 2019Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,11:6
6First-generation EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy in 106 patients with compound EGFR-mutated lung cancer: a single institution’s clinical practice experience显示文摘Background:The antitumour efficacy of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs)in lung cancer patients with compound epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutations has not been resolved.Our study summarizes a single institutional experience of first-generation TKI therapy for lung cancers with compound EGFR mutations.Methods:A total of 106 consecutive patients with tumours bearing compound EGFR mutations were identified between January 2012 and May 2016;all patients received first-generation TKI therapy.Deletions in exon 19 and the L858R point mutation in exon 21 were considered common mutations;T790M was considered separately because of its association with TKIs resistances.Any other mutation was defined as a rare mutation.Patients were divided as follows:double common mutations(group A);common plus T790M mutations(group B);common plus rare muta-tions(group C);double rare mutations(group D);and rare plus T790M mutations(group E).A separate group of 115 consecutive patients with a single common mutation was created for comparative analysis(group F).Results:The frequency of patients with compound EGFR was 2.9%(114/3925)and their response rate to first-genera-tion TKIs was 50.9%,which was not significantly different from group F(67.0%,P=0.088).The progression-free survival(PFS)of the 106 patients receiving TKI therapy was worse than that of group F(median,9.1 vs.13.0 months,respec-tively;P<0.001).The PFS of the compound mutation group was shorter than that of the single common mutation group(median,10.1 months in group A,P=0.240;9.1 months in group B,P<0.001;9.6 months in group C,P=0.010;6.5 months in group D,P=0.048;5.4 months in group E,P=0.017).Patients with a co-occurring mutation in exon 20(excluding T790M)exhibited significantly worse PFS than the patients with other compound mutations or with a single common mutation(median,6.5 vs.9.1 vs.13.0 months,respectively,P=0.002).Conclusions:There was significant heterogeneity among the compound EGFR mutations and their response to first-generation TKIs.Individualized treatment in clinical practice should be considered for each case.Xiangyang Yu Xuewen Zhang Zichen Zhang Yongbin Lin Yingsheng Wen Yongqiang Chen Weidong Wang Lanjun Zhang 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:5
7Development of a Low-cost Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation System as a Test Bench for Anti-lock Braking System显示文摘Nowadays validation of anti-lock braking systems(ABS) relies mainly on a large amount of road tests.An alternative means with higher efficiency is employing the hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) system to substitute part of road tests for designing,testing,and tuning electronic control units(ECUs) of ABS.Most HILS systems for ABS use expensive digital signal processor hardware and special purpose software,and some fail-safe functions with regard to wheel speeds cannot be evaluated since artificial wheel speed signals are usually provided.In this paper,a low-cost ABS HILS test bench is developed and used for validating the anti-lock braking performance and tuning control parameters of ABS controllers.Another important merit of the proposed test bench is that it can comprehensively evaluate the fail-safe functions with regard to wheel speed signals since real tone rings and sensors are integrated in the bench.A 5-DOF vehicle model with consideration of longitudinal load transfer is used to calculate tire forces,wheel speeds and vehicle speed.Each of the four real-time wheel speed signal generators consists of a servo motor plus a ring gear,which has sufficient dynamic response ability to emulate the rapid changes of the wheel speeds under strict braking conditions of very slippery roads.The simulation of braking tests under different road adhesion coefficients using the HILS test bench is run,and results show that it can evaluate the anti-lock braking performance of ABS and partly the fail-safe functions.This HILS system can also be used in such applications as durability test,benchmarking and comparison between different ECUs.The test bench developed not only has a relatively low cost,but also can be used to validate the wheel speed-related ECU design and all its fail-safe functions,and a rapid testing and proving platform with a high efficiency for research and development of the automotive ABS is therefore provided.ZHANG Wei DING Nenggen CHEN Moran YU Guizhen XU Xiangyang 2011Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2011,24,1:5

9Three-dimensional temperature reconstruction of diffusion flame from the light-field convolution imaging by the focused plenoptic camera显示文摘The plenoptic imaging technique provides a promising approach to the non-invasive three-dimensional measurement, especially for the high-temperature combustion diagnosis. We establish a light-field convolution imaging model for diffusion flame in this work, considering the radiation transfer process inside the diffusion flame and the light transfer process inside the focused plenoptic camera together. The radiation transfer process is described by the radiation transfer equation and solved by the generalized source multi-flux method. Wave optics theory is adopted to describe the light transfer process, combining Fresnel diffraction and the phase conversion of the lens. The flame light-field image is obtained by the light-field convolution imaging model and adopted as the measurement signal to reconstruct three-dimensional temperature field. The inverse problem of temperature reconstruction is solved by the least square QR decomposition method. The simulative temperature reconstruction work is conducted, including the inverse analysis, the uncertainty analysis, and the measurement noise influence. All the results show that the proposed measurement method is available to reconstruct three-dimensional temperature with satisfactory accuracy and acceptable uncertainty. 10Codebook Design and Beam Training for Extremely Large-Scale RIS:Far-Field or Near-Field?显示文摘Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)is more likely to develop into extremely large-scale RIS(XL-RIS)to efficiently boost the system capacity for future 6 G communications.Beam training is an effective way to acquire channel state information(CSI)for XL-RIS.Existing beam training schemes rely on the far-field codebook.However,due to the large aperture of XL-RIS,the scatters are more likely to be in the near-field region of XL-RIS.The far-field codebook mismatches the near-field channel model.Thus,the existing far-field beam training scheme will cause severe performance loss in the XL-RIS assisted nearfield communications.To solve this problem,we propose the efficient near-field beam training schemes by designing the near-field codebook to match the nearfield channel model.Specifically,we firstly design the near-field codebook by considering the near-field cascaded array steering vector of XL-RIS.Then,the optimal codeword for XL-RIS is obtained by the exhausted training procedure.To reduce the beam training overhead,we further design a hierarchical nearfield codebook and propose the corresponding hierarchical near-field beam training scheme,where different levels of sub-codebooks are searched in turn with reduced codebook size.Simulation results show the proposed near-field beam training schemes outperform the existing far-field beam training scheme.Xiuhong Wei Linglong Dai Yajun Zhao Guanghui Yu Xiangyang Duan 2022China Communications2022,19,6:3
11The application of three-dimensional seismic spectral decomposition and semblance attribute to characterizing the deepwater channel depositional elements in the Taranaki Basin of New Zealand显示文摘In the past few years, three-dimensional(3-D) seismogram has become an essential tool for the interpretation of subsurface stratigraphy and depositional systems. Seismic stratigraphy in conjunction with seismic geomorphology has elevated the degree to which seismic data can facilitate geological interpretation, especially in a deepwater environment. Technologies such as time slicing and interval attribute analysis can enhance geomorphological interpretations, and, when integrated with stratigraphic analyses, can yield insights regarding distribution of seal and reservoir facies. Multiple attributes corendering can further bring out features of geological interest that other technologies may overlook. This method involves corender spectral decomposition components(SDC) with semblance attributes to describe the distribution of deepwater channel elements and the boundaries of deepwater sinuous channel. Applying this technology to four elements is observed:(1) point-bars,(2) migration of channel meander loops,(3) channel erosion/cut, and(4) avulsion. The planview expression of the deepwater channel ranges from low sinuosity to high sinuosity. Furthermore, this technology has enabled interpreters to visualize details of complex depositional elements and can be used to predict net-to-gross ratio in channel systems, which can be incorporated into borehole planning for exploration as well as development needs to improve risk management significantly. 14Ultrasound-enhanced fluorescence imaging and chemotherapy of multidrugresistant tumors using multifunctional dendrimer/carbon dot nanohybrids显示文摘Development of innovative nanomedicine enabling enhanced theranostics of multidrug-resistant(MDR)tumors remains to be challenging.Herein,we report the development of a newly designed multifunctional yellowfluorescent carbon dot(y-CD)/dendrimer nanohybrids as a platform for ultrasound(US)-enhanced fluorescence imaging and chemotherapy of MDR tumors.Generation 5(G5)poly(amidoamine)dendrimers covalently modified with efflux inhibitor of D-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate(G5-TPGS)were complexed with one-step hydrothermally synthesized y-CDs via electrostatic interaction.The formed G5-TPGS@y-CDs complexes were then physically loaded with anticancer drug doxorubicin(DOX)to generate(G5-TPGS@y-CDs)-DOX complexes.The developed nanohybrids display a high drug loading efficiency(40.7%),strong y-CD-induced fluorescence emission,and tumor microenvironment pH-preferred DOX release profile.Attributing to the DOX/TPGS dual drug design,the(G5-TPGS@y-CDs)-DOX complexes can overcome the multidrug resistance(MDR)of cancer cells and effectively inhibit the growth of cancer cells and tumors.Furthermore,the introduction of US-targeted microbubble destruction technology was proven to render the complexes with enhanced intracellular uptake and anticancer efficacy in vitro and improved chemotherapeutic efficacy and fluorescence imaging of tumors in vivo due to the produced sonoporation effect.The developed multifunctional dendrimer/CD nanohybrids may represent an advanced design of nanomedicine for US-enhanced theranostics of different types of MDR tumors.Dan Li Lizhou Lin Yu Fan Long Liu Mingwu Shen Rong Wu Lianfang Du Xiangyang Shi 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,3:3

19Two-dimensional LDH nanodisks modified with hyaluronidase enable enhanced tumor penetration and augmented chemotherapy显示文摘The condensed tumor extracellular matrix(ECM)consisting of cross-linked hyaluronic acid(HA)is one of the key factors that result in the aberrant tumor microenvironment and severely impair drug delivery and tumor penetration.Herein,we report a simple design of a hyaluronidase(HAase)-modified layered double hydroxide(LDH)nanoplatform loaded with anticancer drug doxorubicin(DOX)for enhanced tumor penetration and augmented chemotherapy.In our approach,LDH nanodisks were synthesized via a co-precipitation method,modified with HAase by electrostatic attraction,and finally physically loaded with DOX.The formulated DOX/LDH-HAase complexes show a high DOX loading percentage of 34.2%with good colloidal stability,retain 86.1%of the enzyme activity,and release DOX in a pH-responsive manner having a faster release rate under slightly acidic tumor microenvironment than that under a physiological condition.With the catalytic activity of HAase to digest the HA nearby the cancer cells,the developed DOX/LDH-HAase complexes enable more significant uptake by cancer cells and penetration in 3-dimensional tumor spheroids than enzyme-free DOX/LDH complexes,thus displaying much better antitumor efficacy in vitro than the latter.The more significant tumor penetration and inhibition of the DOX/LDH-HAase complexes than that of the DOX/LDH complexes was further demonstrated by in vivo tumor imaging and therapeutic activity assessments.Our study suggests a unique nanomedicine platform combined with both anticancer drug and enzyme for improved tumor penetration and chemotherapy,which is promising for effective chemotherapy of different types of stroma-rich tumors.Gaoming Li Yu Fan Lizhou Lin Rong Wu Mingwu Shen Xiangyang Shi 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,5:2
