| 1 | Startup and operation of anaerobic EGSB reactor treating palm oil mill effluent显示文摘A bench-scale expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB) reactor was applied to the treatment of palm oil mill effuent (POME). The reactor had been operated continuously at 35°C for 514 d, with organic loading rate (OLR) increased from 1.45 to 17.5 kg COD/(m3·d). The results showed that the EGSB reactor had good performance in terms of COD removal on the one hand, high COD removal of 91% was obtained at two days’ of hydraulic retention time (HRT), and the highest OLR of 17.5 kg COD/(m3·d). On the other hand, only 46% COD in raw POME was transformed into biogas in which the methane content was about 70% (V/V). A 30-d intermittent experiment indicated that the maximum transformation potential of organic matter in raw POME into methane was 56%. Volatile fatty acid (VFA) accumulation was observed in the later operation stage, and this was settled by supplementing trace metal elements. On the whole, the system exhibited good stability in terms of acidity and alkalinity. | 2 | JWA,a novel microtubule-associated protein,regulates homeostasis of intracellular amino acids in PC12 cells显示文摘Our previous studies demonstrated that JWA, a novel retinoic acids responsive and cytoskeleton related gene, is associated with cell differentiation and apoptosis. In the present study, to elucidate if the JWA is a novel kind of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) and functionally link to microtubule, we first successfully identified JWA from the physically purified MAPs complex of rat brain tissues. The results of co-immunoprecipitation, gene trans-fection and immunofluorescence microscopy assays from HBE and NIH3T3 cells provide strong evidence for a linkage between JWA and b-tubulin. In general, JWA is stably binding to b-tubulin whenever microtubule is polymerized or not, and it may be critical to the mitosis process. In addi-tion, by use of the antisense oligonucleotides technique, we also showed that JWA is a negative modulator on intracellu-lar amino acids in PC12 cells. Further analysis indicated that JWA selectively regulates both taurine, an inhibitory amino acid, and glutamate, an excitatory amino acid. | 4 | Precipitation of Calcite Veins in Serpentinized Harzburgite at Tianxiu Hydrothermal Field on Carlsberg Ridge(3.67°N),Northwest Indian Ocean:Implications for Fluid Circulation显示文摘Serpentinization and calcite precipitation of mantle peridotites exhumed along detachment faults at the slow-to ultraslow-spreading centers can provide important clues to the hydrothermal alteration processes.The Tianxiu hydrothermal field is a new-found active and ultramafichosted hydrothermal vent site along the Carlsberg Ridge,Northwest Indian Ocean.Two types of calcite veins are recognized in serpentinized harzburgite samples collected from the seafloor at the water depth of 3 500 m(3.67°N/63.83°E) and 400 m north of Tianxiu hydrothermal field.Calcite veins Ⅰ occur in the fractures that cut through mesh texture in the highly serpentinized harzburgite,while calcite veins Ⅱ precipitate within the mesh texture in the relatively weaker serpentinized harzburgite.Both veins show similar δ13CPDB(+0.54‰ and +0.58‰) but different δ18OPDB(-16.67‰ and +4.46‰) values,suggesting that they were derived from the same carbon source but precipitated at different temperatures.Taking the deep seawater temperature of 2℃as the precipitation temperature of the calcite veins I,the equilibrium δ18OV-SMOW of calcite-precipitating fluid was calculated to be 1.78‰,which is close to the average δ18OV-SMOW value(1.74‰) of vent fluid samples from the ultramafic-hosted hydrothermal systems worldwide.The formation temperature of calcite veins Ⅱ is inferred to be approximately 134℃,based on the calculated δ18OV-SMOW above.The temperature differences of calcite precipitation probably resulted from the fluid cooling conductively and mixing with seawater along the presumed fractures during slow upflow.The low-temperature calcite postdates the mesh texture,while the high-temperature calcite may precipitate under relatively low water/rock ratios,alkaline and reduced conditions among the mesh texture,which is revealed by the geochemical models.Therefore,it is suggested that they both have been influenced by hydrothermal fluids and the sampling site is near the discharge zone of hydrothermal circulation. | Yang Chen Xiqiu Han Yejian Wang Jianggu Lu | 2020 | Journal of Earth Science2020,31,1: | 5 |

| 8 | Tephra records from abyssal sediments off western Sumatra in recent 135 ka: evidence from Core IR-GC1显示文摘Three volcanic ash layers were identified in a deep-sea Core IR-GC1 from the north-eastern Indian Ocean, adjacent to western Indonesian arc. They were dominated by glass shards with minor mineral crystals, such as plagioclase, biotite, and hornblende. According to the morphology and major element compositions of the representative glass shards, combined with the δ18O-based age, it is suggested that ash Layer A is correlated to the youngest Toba tuff(YTT), Layer B is supposed to be associated with a new eruption of Toba caldera in an age of 98 to 100 ka. | 12 | Source and nature of ore-forming fluids of the Edmond hydrothermal field,Central Indian Ridge:evidence from He-Ar isotope composition and fluid inclusion study显示文摘To understand the source and nature of the ore-forming fluids of the Edmond hydrothermal field on the Central Indian Ridge, we studied the He-Ar isotope composition and fluid inclusions of the hydrothermal precipitates.Our results show that the sulfide samples contain noble gases He, Ne, Kr, and Xe with their abundances in between those of air-saturated water(ASW) and mid-ocean ridge basalt(MORB). The ~3He/~4He ratio varies from1.3 to 8.7 R_a(n=10, average: 5.1 R_a), whereas the ^(40)Ar/^(36) Ar ratio is from 285.3 to 314.7(n=10, average: 294.8). These results suggest that the He was derived from a mixture of MORB with variable amounts of seawater, but the Ar in the ore-forming fluids trapped in the sulfides is predominantly derived from seawater. The fluid inclusions of barite have a wide range of homogenization temperatures and salinities varying from 163°C to 260°C and 2.6 wt%to 8.5 wt% Na Cl equiv., respectively. | 18 | Fractional crystallization processes of magma beneath the Carlsberg Ridge(57°–65°E)显示文摘Fractional crystallization of basaltic magma at variable depths influences strongly the geochemical compositions of mid-ocean ridge basalts(MORBs),especially at slow-spreading mid-ocean ridges.The Carlsberg Ridge is a typical slow-spreading ridge located in the northwestern Indian Ocean.In this study,we conducted petrological,geochemical and modelling studies of MORBs collected along the Carlsberg Ridge from 57°-65°E to understand the fractional crystallization processes of magma and the controls on variations in MORB geochemistry.Our results show that the mantle sources beneath the Carlsberg Ridge are heterogeneous even on the local scale of a segment;such heterogeneity may be ubiquitous beneath the Carlsberg Ridge.Mantle heterogeneity may be caused by the enriched components resulting in the'DUPAL'anomaly,whereas the effect of pyroxenite on mantle heterogeneity is negligible.The parental melts experienced crystallization of olivine,plagioclase and clinopyroxene prior to eruption,which played a significant role in the major and trace element variations in MORBs from the Carlsberg Ridge.The liquid lines of descent(LLDs),deduced from the forward modelling of three parental magma compositions using the Petrolog3 program at pressures between 1 atm and 10 kbar,demonstrate that clinopyroxene joined the olivine and plagioclase cotectic.The over-enrichment in highly incompatible elements relative to LLDs may be caused by the processes of replenishment-tapping-crystallization in magma chambers.The calculated crystallization pressures suggest that parental magmas beneath the Carlsberg Ridge experienced moderateto high-pressure crystallization and that crystallization beneath the slow-spreading Carlsberg Ridge may start at upper mantle depths. | ZONG Tong HAN Xiqiu LIU Jiqiang WANG Yejian QIU Zhongyan YU Xing | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,1: | 1 |
| 19 | Long-Range VNA-Based Channel Sounder: Design and Measurement Validation at MmWave and Sub-THz Frequency Bands显示文摘With the increasing demand for high bandwidth wireless communication systems,and with a congested spectrum in the sub-6 GHz frequency bands,researchers have been looking into exploration of millimeter wave(mmWave)and sub-terahertz(subTHz)frequency bands.Channel modeling is essential for system design and performance evaluation of new wireless communication systems.Accurate channel modeling relies on reliable measured channel data,which is collected by high-fidelity channel sounders.Furthermore,it is of importance to understand to which extent channel parameters are frequency dependent in typical deployment scenario(including both indoor short-range and outdoor long-range scenarios).To achieve this purpose,this paper presents a stateof-art long-range 28 GHz and 300 GHz VNA-based channel sounder using optical cable solutions,which can support a measurement range up to 300 m and 600 m in principle,respectively.The design,development and validation of the long-range channel sounders at mmWave and sub-THz bands are reported,with a focus on their system principle,link budget,and backto-back measurements.Furthermore,a measurement campaign in an indoor corridor is performed using the developed 300 GHz system and 28 GHz channel sounding systems.Both measured channels at the 28 GHz and 300 GHz channels are shown to be highly sparse and specular.A higher number of Multi Path Components(MPC)are observed for the 28 GHz system,while the same main MPC are observed for both systems. | Mikkel Bengtson Yejian Lyu Wei Fan | 2022 | China Communications2022,19,11: | 0 |
| 20 | Evaluating a satellite-based sea surface temperature by shipboard survey in the Northwest Indian Ocean显示文摘A summer-time shipboard meteorological survey is described in the Northwest Indian Ocean. Shipboard observations are used to evaluate a satellite-based sea surface temperature(SST), and then find the main factors that are highly correlated with errors. Two satellite data, the first is remote sensing product of a microwave, which is a Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Microwave Imager(TMI), and the second is merged data from the microwave and infrared satellite as well as drifter observations, which is Operational Sea Surface Temperature and Sea Ice Analysis(OSTIA). The results reveal that the daily mean SST of merged data has much lower bias and root mean square error as compared with that from microwave products. Therefore the results support the necessary of the merging infrared and drifter SST with a microwave satellite for improving the quality of the SST. Furthermore, the correlation coefficient between an SST error and meteorological parameters, which include a wind speed, an air temperature, a relative humidity, an air pressure, and a visibility. The results show that the wind speed has the largest correlation coefficient with the TMI SST error. However, the air temperature is the most important factor to the OSTIA SST error.
