Volumetric-modulated arc therapy vs c-IMRT in esophageal cancer:A treatment planning comparison显示文摘AIM:To compare the volumetric-modulated arc therapy AT plans ith conventional sliding indo intensity-modulated radiotherapy c-I RT plans in esophageal cancer EC . METHODS:Tenty patients ith EC ere selected, including 5 cases located in the cervical, the upper, the middle and the lo er thorax, respectively. Five plans ere generated ith the eclipse planning system:three using c-IMRT with 5 fields (5F), 7 fields (7F) and 9 fields (9F), and two using VMAT with a single arc 1A and double arcs 2A . The treatment plans ere designed to deliver a dose of 60 Gy to the plan-ning target volume Tith the same constrains in a 2.0 Gy daily fraction, 5 d a eek. lans ere normalized to 95% of the T that received 100% of the prescribed dose. We examined the dose-volume histogram parameters of T and the organs at risk OAR such as lungs, spinal cord and heart. onitor units U and normal tissue complication probability NTC of OAR ere also reported. RESULTS:Both c-I RT and AT plans resulted in abundant dose coverage of T for EC of different locations. The dose conformity to T as improved as the number of field in c-IMRT or rotating arc in VMAT as increased. The doses to T and OAR in AT plans ere not statistically different in comparison ith c-I RT plans, ith the follo ing exceptions:in cervical and upper thoracic EC, the conformity index CI as higher in VMAT (1A 0.78 and 2A 0.8) than in c-IMRT (5F 0.62, 7F 0.66 and 9F 0.73) and homogeneity was slightly better in c-IMRT (7F 1.09 and 9F 1.07) than in VMAT (1A 1.1 and 2A 1.09). Lung V30 was lower in VMAT (1A 12.52 and 2A 12.29) than in c-IMRT (7F 14.35 and 9F 14.81). The humeral head doses were significantly increased in AT as against c-I RT. In the middle and lower thoracic EC, CI in VMAT (1A 0.76 and 2A 0.74) was higher than in c-IMRT (5F 0.63 Gy and 7F 0.67 Gy), and homogeneity was almost similar bet een AT and c-I RT. 20 2A 21.49 Gy vs 7F 24.59 Gy and 9F 24.16 Gy) and V30 (2A 9.73 Gy vs 5F 12.61 Gy, 7F 11.5 Gy and 9F 11.37 Gy) of lungs in AT ere lo er than in c-I RT, but lo doses to lungs (V5 and V10) were increased. V30 (1A 48.12 Gy vs 5F 59.2 Gy, 7F 58.59 Gy and 9F 57.2 Gy), V40 and 50 of heart in AT as lo er than in c-I RT. Us in AT plans ere significantly reduced in comparison ith c-I RT, maximum doses to the spinal cord and mean doses of lungs ere similar bet een the t o techniques. NTC of spinal cord as 0 for all cases. NTC of lungs and heart in AT ere lo er than inc-I RT. The advantage of AT plan as enhanced by doubling the arc. CONCLUSION:Compared ith c-I RT, AT, especially the 2A, slightly improves the OAR dose sparing, such as lungs and heart, and reduces NTC and U ith a better T coverage. | Li Yin Hao Wu Jian Gong Jian-Hao Geng Fan Jiang An-Hui Shi Rong Yu Yong-Heng Li Shu-Kui Han Bo Xu Guang-Ying Zhu | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,37: | 34
Single-cell transcriptomic analysis defines the interplay between tumor cells, viral infection, and the microenvironment in nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)is an Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)-associated malignancy with a complex tumor ecosystem. How the interplay between tumor cells,EBV,and the microenvironment contributes to NPC progression and immune evasion remains unclear. Here we performed single-cell RNA sequencing on^104,000 cells from 19 EBV^+NPCs and 7 nonmalignant nasopharyngeal biopsies, simultaneously profiling the transcriptomes of malignant cells,EBV,stromal and immune cells.Overall,we identified global upregulation of interferon responses in the multicellular ecosystem of NPC.Notably,an epithelial–immune dual feature of malignant cells was discovered and associated with poor prognosis.Functional experiments revealed that tumor cells with this dual feature exhibited a higher capacity for tumorigenesis.Further characterization of the cellular components of the tumor microenvironment(TME)and their interactions with tumor cells revealed that the dual feature of tumor cells was positively correlated with the expression of co-inhibitory receptors on CD8^+tumor-infiltrating T cells. In addition, tumor cells with the dual feature were found to repress IFN-γproduction by T cells, demonstrating their capacity for immune suppression. Our results provide new insights into the multicellular ecosystem of NPC and offer important clinical implications. | Shanzhao Jin Ruoyan Li Ming-Yuan Chen Chao Yu Lin-Quan Tang Yan-Min Liu Jiang-Ping Li Yi-Na Liu Yi-Ling Luo Yifan Zhao Yu Zhang Tian-Liang Xia Shang-Xin Liu Qi Liu Guan-Nan Wang Rui You Jing-Yun Peng Jiang Li Feng Han Jianwei Wang Qiu-Yan Chen Li Zhang Hai-Qiang Mai Benjamin E.Gewurz Bo Zhao Lawrence S.Young Qian Zhong Fan Bai Mu-Sheng Zeng | 2020 | Cell Research2020,30,11: | 16

An in vitro and finite element study of load redistribution in the midfoot显示文摘A good knowledge of midfoot biomechanics is important in understanding the biomechanics of the entire foot, but it has never been investigated thoroughly in the literature. This study carried out in vitro experiments and finite element analysis to investigate the midfoot biomechanics.A foot-ankle finite element model simulating the mid-stance phase of the normal gait was developed and the model validated in in vitro experimental tests.Experiments used seven in vitro samples of fresh human cadavers. The simulation found that the first principal stress peaks of all midfoot bones occurred at the navicular bone and that the tensile force of the spring ligament was greater than that of any other ligament. The experiments showed that the longitudinal strain acting on the medial cuneiform bone was-26.2±10.8μ-strain,and the navicular strain was-240.0±169.1μ-strain along the longitudinal direction and 65.1±25.8μ-strain along the transverse direction. The anatomical position and the spring ligament both result in higher shear stress in the navicular bone. The load from the ankle joint to five branches of the forefoot is redistributed among the cuneiforms and cuboid bones.Further studies on the mechanism of loading redistribution will be helpful in understanding the biomechanics of the entire foot. | NIU Wen Xin TANG Ting Ting ZHANG Ming JIANG Cheng Hua FAN Yu Bo | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,12: | 8
Hydrodynamics of a Newly China-Made Jiuling Bileaflet Heart Valve Prostheses显示文摘Jiuling bileaflet prosthetic heart valve is manufactured in compliance with the national standard of P.R.C. GB12279 90. This mechanical heart valve substitute is constructed entirely of solid low temperature pyrolytic carbon. There is no graphite substrate within the leaflets or orifice. This prosthesis presents with satisfactory histocompatibility and induces little hemocoagulation around it. Objective: This study aimed to assess the hydrodynamic function of the newly China made Jiuling bileaflet heart valve prostheses. Methods: Jiuling valve has been tested in a pulsatile flow simulator in the aortic position. The testing condition was set at the pulsatile frequency of 55, 75, and 100 beats/min and a constant cardiac output of 4 L/min. The mean pressure differences, leakage volumes and closing volumes across each valve, and the effective orifice areas have been analyzed. Results: The Jiuling heart valves prosthesis had the lowest pressure difference at any given tissue annulus diameter. The mean pressure difference of all the Jiuling valves decreases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter or pulse frequency, and is in the range of below 10 mmHg. CarboMedics (CarboMedics, Inc., Austin, Tex.) is similar to that of the 21 mm and 23 mm Jiuling heart valves at the given pulse rate under 4 L/min. C L tilting disc valve (Lanzhou CarboMedics Inc., China) is similar to that of the 23 mm Jiuling heart valve. The effective orifice area of the Jiuling mechanical valve increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter or pulse frequency. CarboMedics and C L tilting disc valve is similar to that of the 21 mm and 23 mm Jiuling heart valves. The Closing volume of the Jiuling prosthetic cardiac valves increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter, but decreases with increasing the pulse frequency, and is in the range of below 11% (normalized by stroke volume). CarboMedics is below 16.5% of stroke volume; and C L tilting disc valve is below 7.5%. The leakage volume of the Jiuling prosthetic cardiac valves increases with increasing the tissue annulus diameter, but decreases with increasing the pulse frequency, and are in the range of below 28.9% (normalized by stroke volume). The leakage volume of CarboMedics is higher than that of the same sized 25 mm Jiuling valve, and the C L tilting disc valve is also higher than that of Jiuling valve at 4 L/min. Conclusion: For a given tissue diameter, the Jiuling valve showed significantly better hemodynamic characteristics. The material used in the construction is biocompatible, durable, and thromboresistant. The design permits light weight, low profile, and high ratio of flow area to tissue annulus diameter. | CHU Yin ping 1,CHEN Ru kun 2,FAN Yu bo 3 , PU Fang 31 Department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery Second Hospital Affiliated Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan 030001,China 2 Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical | 2000 | Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering(English Edition)2000,9,4: | 8
Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes. | MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 无 | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12: | 8
Proteomic profiling of fetal esophageal epithelium, esophageal cancer, and tumor-adjacent esophageal epithelium and immunohistochemical characterization of a representative differential protein, PRX6显示文摘AIM To understand the molecular mechanism of esophageal cancer development and provide molecular markers for screening high-risk populations and early diagnosis. METHODS Two-dimensional electrophoresis combined with mass spectrometry were adopted to screen differentially expressed proteins in nine cases of fetal esophageal epithelium, eight cases of esophageal cancer, and eight cases of tumor-adjacent normal esophageal epithelium collected from fetuses of different gestational age, or esophageal cancer patients from a high-risk area of esophageal cancer in China. Immunohistochemistry(avidin-biotin-horseradish peroxidase complex method) was used to detect the expression of peroxiredoxin(PRX)6 in 91 cases of esophageal cancer, tumoradjacent normal esophageal tissue, basal cell hyperplasia, dysplasia, and carcinoma in situ, as well as 65 cases of esophageal epithelium from fetuses at a gestational age of 3-9 mo.RESULTS After peptide mass fingerprint analysis and search of protein databases, 21 differential proteins were identified; some of which represent a protein isoform. Varying degrees of expression of PRX6 protein, which was localized mainly in the cytoplasm, were detected in adult and fetal normal esophageal tissues, precancerous lesions, and esophageal cancer. With the progression of esophageal lesions, PRX6 protein expression showed a declining trend(P < 0.05). In fetal epithelium from fetuses at gestational age 3-6 mo, PRX6 protein expression showed a declining trend with age(P < 0.05). PRX6 protein expression was significantly higher in well-differentiated esophageal cancer tissues than in poorly differentiated esophageal cancer tissues(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION Development and progression of esophageal cancer result from interactions of genetic changes(accumulation or superposition). PRX6 protein is associated with fetal esophageal development and cancer differentiation. | Jun-Hui Guo Guo-Lan Xing Xin-Hui Fang Hui-Fang Wu Bo Zhang Jin-Zhong Yu Zong-Min Fan Li-Dong Wang | 2017 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,8: | 7

Optimal Coordination Control Strategy of Hybrid Energy Storage Systems for Tie-line Smoothing Services in Integrated Community Energy Systems显示文摘Increasing renewable energy penetration into integrated community energy systems(ICESs)requires more efficient methods to prevent power fluctuations of the tie–line(connection of the ICESs to the main grid). In this paper,centrally-controlled air conditioners are considered as a virtual energy storage system(VESS).The optimal thermostat regulation is used to manage the charging/discharging power of the VESS within the customer comfort level range and the virtual state of charge(VSOC)is used to describe the charging/discharging power of the VESS.On this basis, the model of the hybrid energy storage system is built with a VESS and a battery storage system(BSS).Then,an optimal coordination control strategy(OCCS)for a hybrid energy storage system is developed considering the state-space equation to describe the OCCS,the constraints of the OCCS,and the objective function to express the optimal coordination control performance. Finally, the influence of the outdoor temperature and the deadband of air conditioners on the results of the OCCS is analyzed. Results show that the OCCS can realize optimal allocation of the storage response amount to trace the reference target accurately and guarantee both the state of charge(SOC)of the batteries in a reasonable range to prolong the battery life and ensure the level of comfort experienced by users. | Dan Wang Yunqiang Zhi Bo Yu Zhaoyu Chen Qingsong An Ling Cheng Menghua Fan | 2018 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2018,4,4: | 5
120 mm Single-crystalline perovskite and wafers: towards viable applications显示文摘As the large single-crystalline silicon wafers have revolutionized many industries including electronics and solar cells, it is envisioned that the availability of large single-crystalline perovskite crystals and wafers will revolutionize its broad applications in photovoltaics, optoelectronics, lasers, photodetectors, light emitting diodes(LEDs), etc. Here we report a method to grow large single-crystalline perovskites including single-halide crystals: CH3NH3PbX3(X=I, Br, Cl), and dual-halide ones:CH3NH3Pb(ClxBr1.x)3 and CH3NH3Pb(BrxI1.x)3, with the largest crystal being 120 mm in length. Meanwhile, we have advanced a process to slice the large perovskite crystals into thin wafers. It is found that the wafers exhibit remarkable features:(1)its trap-state density is a million times smaller than that in the microcrystalline perovskite thin films(MPTF);(2) its carrier mobility is 410 times higher than its most popular organic counterpart P3HT;(3) its optical absorption is expanded to as high as910 nm comparing to 797 nm for the MPTF;(4) while MPTF decomposes at 150 °C, the wafer is stable at high temperature up to270 °C;(5) when exposed to high humidity(75% RH), MPTF decomposes in 5 h while the wafer shows no change for overnight;(6) its photocurrent response is 250 times higher than its MPTF counterpart. A few electronic devices have been fabricated using the crystalline wafers. Among them, the Hall test gives low carrier concentration with high mobility. The trap-state density is measured much lower than common semiconductors. Moreover, the large SC-wafer is found particularly useful for mass production of integrated circuits. By adjusting the halide composition, both the optical absorption and the light emission can be fine-tuned across the entire visible spectrum from 400 nm to 800 nm. It is envisioned that a range of visible lasers and LEDs may be developed using the dual-halide perovskites. With fewer trap states, high mobility, broader absorption, and humidity resistance, it is expected that solar cells with high stable efficiency maybe attainable using the crystalline wafers. | Yucheng Liu Xiaodong Ren Jing Zhang Zhou Yang Dong Yang Fengyang Yu Jiankun Sun Changming Zhao Zhun Yao Bo Wang Qingbo Wei Fengwei Xiao Haibo Fan Hao Deng Liangping Deng Shengzhong (Frank) Liu | 2017 | Science China Chemistry2017,60,10: | 5
Eigen microstates and their evolutions in complex systems显示文摘Emergence refers to the existence or formation of collective behaviors in complex systems. Here,we develop a theoretical framework based on the eigen microstate theory to analyze the emerging phenomena and dynamic evolution of complex system. In this framework, the statistical ensemble composed of M microstates of a complex system with N agents is defined by the normalized N×M matrix A,whose columns represent microstates and order of row is consist with the time. The ensemble matrix A can be decomposed as■,where r=min(N,M),eigenvalueσIbehaves as the probability amplitude of the eigen microstate U_I so that■and U_I evolves following V_I.In a disorder complex system, there is no dominant eigenvalue and eigen microstate. When a probability amplitudeσIbecomes finite in the thermodynamic limit, there is a condensation of the eigen microstate UIin analogy to the Bose–Einstein condensation of Bose gases. This indicates the emergence of U_I and a phase transition in complex system. Our framework has been applied successfully to equilibrium threedimensional Ising model, climate system and stock markets. We anticipate that our eigen microstate method can be used to study non-equilibrium complex systems with unknown orderparameters, such as phase transitions of collective motion and tipping points in climate systems and ecosystems. | Yu Sun Gaoke Hu Yongwen Zhang Bo Lu Zhenghui Lu Jingfang Fan Xiaoteng Li Qimin Deng Xiaosong Chen | 2021 | Communications in Theoretical Physics2021,73,6: | 5
Back-n white neutron source at CSNS and its applications显示文摘Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility(the so-called Back-n white neutron source),which was completed in March 2018.The Back-n neutron beam is very intense,at approximately 29107 n/cm2/s at 55 m from the target, and has a nominal proton beam with a power of 100 kW in the CSNS-I phase and a kinetic energy of 1.6 GeV and a thick tungsten target in multiple slices with modest moderation from the cooling water through the slices. In addition, the excellent energy spectrum spanning from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV,and a good time resolution related tothe time-of-flight measurements make it a typical white neutron source for nuclear data measurements;its overall performance is among that of the best white neutron sources in the world.Equipped with advanced spectrometers, detectors, and application utilities, the Back-n facility can serve wide applications, with a focus on neutron-induced cross-sectional measurements. This article presents an overview of the neutron beam characteristics, the experimental setups, and the ongoing applications at Backn. | Jing-Yu Tang Qi An Jiang-Bo Bai Jie Bao Yu Bao Ping Cao Hao-Lei Chen Qi-Ping Chen Yong-Hao Chen Zhen Chen Zeng-Qi Cui Rui-Rui Fan Chang-Qing Feng Ke-Qing Gao Xiao-Long Gao Min-Hao Gu Chang-Cai Han Zi-Jie Han Guo-Zhu He Yong-Cheng He Yang Hong Yi-Wei Hu Han-Xiong Huang Xi-Ru Huang Hao-Yu Jiang Wei Jiang Zhi-Jie Jiang Han-Tao Jing Ling Kang Bo Li Chao Li Jia-Wen Li Qiang Li Xiao Li Yang Li Jie Liu Rong Liu Shu-Bin Liu Xing-Yan Liu Ze Long Guang-Yuan Luan Chang-Jun Ning Meng-Chen Niu Bin-Bin Qi Jie Ren Zhi-Zhou Ren Xi-Chao Ruan Zhao-Hui Song Kang Sun Zhi-Jia Sun Zhi-Xin Tan Xin-Yi Tang Bin-Bin Tian Li-Jiao Wang Peng-Cheng Wang Zhao-Hui Wang Zhong-Wei Wen Xiao-Guang Wu Xuan Wu Li-Kun Xie Xiao-Yun Yang Yi-Wei Yang Han Yi Li Yu Tao Yu Yong-Ji Yu Guo-Hui Zhang Lin-Hao Zhang Qi-Wei Zhang Xian-Peng Zhang Yu-Liang Zhang Zhi-Yong Zhang Lu-Ping Zhou Zhi-Hao Zhou Ke-Jun Zhu 无 | 2021 | Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,1: | 4
