Long Non-coding RNAs and Their Biological Roles in Plants显示文摘With the development of genomics and bioinformatics, especially the extensive applications of high-throughput sequencing technology, more transcriptional units with little or no protein-coding potential have been discovered. Such RNA molecules are called nonprotein-coding RNAs(npc RNAs or nc RNAs). Among them, long npc RNAs or nc RNAs(lnpc RNAs or lnc RNAs) represent diverse classes of transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides. In recent years, the lnc RNAs have been considered as important regulators in many essential biological processes. In plants, although a large number of lnc RNA transcripts have been predicted and identified in few species, our current knowledge of their biological functions is still limited. Here, we have summarized recent studies on their identification, characteristics, classification, bioinformatics, resources, and current exploration of their biological functions in plants. | Xue Liu Lili Hao Dayong Li Lihuang Zhu Songnian Hu | 2015 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2015,13,3: | 9
Coupling and propagating of mesoscale sea level variability between the western Pacific and the South China Sea显示文摘The coupling and propagating features of mesoscale sea level variability between the western Pacific (WP) and the South China Sea (SCS) were studied based on time series analyses of satellite altimeter measured, along-track sea surface height anomalies (SSHA) along 21°N and the slope of the northern SCS. The analyses show that mesoscale sea level fluctuations in the WP have rather limited coherent effects on the SCS, and no statistically significant propagation of mesoscale variability through the Luzon Strait was observed except in the 45-day band. Evidence suggests that the 45-day fluctuation is very much likely a character of the Kuroshio originating from its low-latitude beginning. It is also sug- gested that the westward propagating Rossby waves will deform when they encounter the dynamical barrier of the Kuroshio. The Kuroshio will then acts on the SCS in its own way. The SCS is a relatively isolated system in the sense of coupling and propagating of oceanic mesoscale waves. | LI Li JING ChunSheng ZHU DaYong | 2007 | Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,12: | 8
Seasonal variation of surface currents in the southwestern Taiwan Strait observed with HF radar显示文摘Long-term measurements from a pair of High-Frequency radar systems deployed near the coast of southern Fujian Province showed that surface currents in the southwestern Taiwan Strait were com-posed mainly of the monsoon-driven, seasonal fluctuation of longshore current and a persistent northeastward background flow with speeds around 10 cm/s. Measurements from bottom-moored ADCPs further indicated that below the surface Ekman layer longshore currents also directed to the north all year round. | ZHU DaYong LI Li LI Yan GUO XiaoGang | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,15: | 7
Product/metal ratio (PMR):A novel criterion for the evaluation of electrolytes on micro-arc oxidation (MAO) of Mg and its alloys显示文摘Product/metal ratio (PMR) was introduced as a novel criterion for the evaluation of electrolytes on micro-arc oxidation (MAO) of Mg and its alloys. The criterion initially sprang from Pilling-Bedworth ratio (PBR), focused on the roles of electrolytes for the compactness of the fabricated coatings, and took attention on properties of reactants/products during MAO. Meanwhile, based on our experiments as well as the results from literatures, the effects of electrolyte additives on morphologies and com-positions of the fabricated MAO coatings of Mg alloys were exploited for verification and supplement of the initial criterion. In combination of the initial PMR criterion and experimental verification, PMR could be represented by special mode (PMRs=Voxide products/Valloy substrates) and general mode (PMRg= PMRs+ PMRd). The ideal PMRs should be between 1 and 2, while PMRd is related to the coating deposition during MAO. PMRd is a supplement to PMRs when the effect of the overlaying prop-erty (O) of the coatings and the effective deposition (D) of electrolyte composites are considered (PMRd=f(O, D). O is related to the melting point (MP) and boiling point (BP) of the MAO products. D is related to the effective reactions between alloy substrates and electrolytes during MAO. | SONG LaiWen SONG YingWei SHAN DaYong ZHU GuoYi HAN EnHou | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,10: | 6
Mesenchymal stem cell treatment improves outcome of COVID-19 patients via multiple immunomodulatory mechanisms显示文摘The infusion of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)potentially improves clinical symptoms, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We conducted a randomized,single-blind,placebo-controlled(29 patients/group)phase II clinical trial to validate previous findings and explore the potential mechanisms.Patients treated with umbilical cord-derived MSCs exhibited a shorter hospital stay(P=0.0198)and less time required for symptoms remission(P=0.0194)than those who received placebo.Based on chest images, both severe and critical patients treated with MSCs showed improvement by day 7(P=0.0099)and day 21(P=0.0084).MSC-treated patients had fewer adverse events.MSC infusion reduced the levels of C-reactive protein, proinflammatory cytokines, and neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)and promoted the maintenance of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies. To explore how MSCs modulate the immune system,we employed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis on peripheral blood. Our analysis identified a novel subpopulation of VNN2+hematopoietic stem/progenitorlike(HSPC-like)cells expressing CSF3R and PTPRE that were mobilized following MSC infusion.Genes encoding chemotaxis factors—CX3CR1 and L-selectin—were upregulated in various immune cells.MSC treatment also regulated B cell subsets and increased the expression of costimulatory CD28 in T cells in vivo and in vitro. In addition,an in vivo mouse study confirmed that MSCs suppressed NET release and reduced venous thrombosis by upregulating kindlin-3 signaling.Together, our results underscore the role of MSCs in improving COVID-19 patient outcomes via maintenance of immune homeostasis. | Rongjia Zhu Tingdong Yan Yingmei Feng Yan Liu Hongcui Cao Gongxin Peng Yanlei Yang Zhen Xu Jingqi Liu Wei Hou Xiaoyue Wang Zhe Li Luchan Deng Shihua Wang Jing Li Qin Han Hongling Li Guangliang Shan Yinghao Cao Xingyan An Jianshe Yan Zhonghui Zhang Huafei Li Xuebin Qu Jiaqi Zhu Shumin Zhou Jiao Wang Fengchun Zhang Jinming Gao Ronghua Jin Dayong Xu Yan-Qing Ma Tao Huang Shuang Peng Zhi Zheng Ilia Stambler Eric Gilson Lee Wei Lim Alexey Moskalev Antonio Cano Sasanka Chakrabarti Brun Ulfhake Huanxing Su Haoying Xu Sihuan Xu Feng Wei Holly MBrown-Borg Kyung-Jin Min Georgina Ellison-Hughes Calogero Caruso Kunlin Jin Robert Chunhua Zhao | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,12: | 5
Electric-field-controlled superconductor–ferromagnetic insulator transition显示文摘Superconductivity beyond electron-phonon mechanism is always twisted with magnetism. Based on a new field-effect transistor with solid ion conductor as the gate dielectric(SIC-FET), we successfully achieve an electric-field-controlled phase transition between superconductor and ferromagnetic insulator in(Li,Fe)OHFeSe. A dome-shaped superconducting phase with optimal T_c of 43K is continuously tuned into a ferromagnetic insulating phase, which exhibits an electric-field-controlled quantum critical behavior. The origin of the ferromagnetism is ascribed to the order of the interstitial Fe ions expelled from the(Li,Fe)OH layers by gating-controlled Li injection. These surprising findings offer a unique platform to study the relationship between superconductivity and ferromagnetism in Fe-based superconductors. This work also demonstrates the superior performance of the SIC-FET in regulating physical properties of layered unconventional superconductors. | Likuan Ma Bin Lei Naizhou Wang Kaishuai Yang Dayong Liu Fanbao Meng Chao Shang Zeliang Sun Jianhua Cui Changsheng Zhu Tao Wu Zhe Sun Liangjian Zou Xianhui Chen | 2019 | Science Bulletin2019,64,10: | 4
Upconversion nanoparticles for super-resolution quantification of single small extracellular vesicles显示文摘Although small EVs(sEVs)have been used widely as biomarkers in disease diagnosis, their heterogeneity at single EV level has rarely been revealed. This is because high-resolution characterization of sEV presents a major challenge,as their sizes are below the optical diffraction limit. Here,we report that upconversion nanoparticles(UCNPs)can be used for super-resolution profiling the molecular heterogeneity of sEVs.We show that Er3+-doped UCNPs has better brightness and Tm3+-doped UCNPs resulting in better resolution beyond diffraction limit.Through an orthogonal experimental design, the specific targeting of UCNPs to the tumour epitope on single EV has been cross validated, resulting in the Pearson’s R-value of 0.83 for large EVs and~65%co-localization double-positive spots for sEVs.Furthermore,super-resolution nanoscopy can distinguish adjacent UCNPs on single sEV with a resolution of as high as 41.9 nm.When decreasing the size of UCNPs from 40 to 27 nm and 18 nm,we observed that the maximum UCNPs number on single sEV increased from 3 to 9 and 21,respectively.This work suggests the great potentials of UCNPs approach“digitally”quantify the surface antigens on single EVs,therefore providing a solution to monitor the EV heterogeneity changes along with the tumour progression progress. | Guan Huang Yongtao Liu Dejiang Wang Ying Zhu Shihui Wen Juanfang Ruan Dayong Jin | 2022 | eLight2022,2,1: | 2
Radiation-hardened property of single-walled carbon nanotube film-based field-effect transistors under low-energy proton irradiation显示文摘Strong C-C bonds, nanoscale cross-section and low atomic number make single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)a potential candidate material for integrated circuits(ICs)applied in outer space. However, very little work combines the simulation calculations with the electrical measurements of SWCNT field-effect transistors(FETs),which limits further understanding on the mechanisms of radiation effects. Here,SWCNT film-based FETs were fabricated to explore the total ionizing dose(TID)and displacement damage effect on the electrical performance under low-energy proton irradiation with different fluences up to 1×1015 p/cm2.Large negative shift of the threshold voltage and obvious decrease of the on-state current verified the TID effect caused in the oxide layer. The stability of the subthreshold swing and the off-state current reveals that the displacement damage caused in the CNT layer is not serious, which proves that the CNT film is radiation-hardened.Specially,according to the simulation,we found the displacement damage caused by protons is different in the source/drain contact area and channel area, leading to varying degrees of change for the contact resistance and sheet resistance.Having analyzed the simulation results and electrical measurements,we explained the low-energy proton irradiation mechanism of the CNT FETs,which is essential for the construction of radiation-hardened CNT film-based ICs for aircrafts. | Xiaorui Zhang Huiping Zhu Song’ang Peng Guodong Xiong Chaoyi Zhu Xinnan Huang Shurui Cao Junjun Zhang Yunpeng Yan Yao Yao Dayong Zhang Jingyuan Shi Lei Wang Bo Li Zhi Jin | 2021 | Journal of Semiconductors2021,42,11: | 2

Seasonal and interannual variations of surface current in the southern Taiwan Strait to the west of Taiwan Shoals显示文摘Seasonal and interannual variations of surface currents in the southern Taiwan Strait to the west of Taiwan Shoals were investigated by using measurements of high frequency(HF)ground wave radars from January 2006 to April 2009.The results demonstrate that surface currents in the water channel to the west of Taiwan Shoals are composed of a significant, seasonally fluctuating component and a relatively stable northward component.Forced by the East Asia monsoon, the annual variation of the surface longshore current is linearly correlated with the longshore wind.Behind the seasonal signal is a stable northward flow with speeds of O(10 cm/s).The observations also show that surface currents in the area are subject to distinct interannual variation, and the southward surface flow was more profound in winter 2007/2008 than in other winters.Observations from bottom-mounted ADCP also indicated that,in that winter, longshore currents in the west side of the Taiwan Strait are very different from the previous winter. The northward flow appeared much weaker, the currents were southward in most layers, and the interannual differences were observed throughout the water column.Hydrographic observations in the same period suggest that the large-scale southward intrusion of the Zhe-Min coastal water is the direct cause of the interannual difference. The enhancement of the East Asian monsoon during the 2007/2008 La Ni a event is considered as the main reason for the winter current anomalies in the study area. | ZHU DaYong LI Li GUO XiaoGang | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,33: | 1
Multi-path based secure communication in wireless mesh networks显示文摘Communication security is a critical aspect of QoS provisioning in wireless mesh network (WMN). Because of the inherent characteristics of WMN, conventional security mechanisms cannot be applied. In order to guarantee the communication security, a novel communication security mechanism is proposed. The mechanism uses a communication encryption scheme to encrypt data packets and employs a risk avoidance scheme to avoid the malicious nodes during communications. Simulation results indicate that the mechanism is able to provide secure communication effectively and reduce the damage of attacks through multiple paths. | Ding Xuyang Fan Mingyu Lu Xiaojun Zhu Dayong Wang Jiahao | 2007 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2007,18,4: | 1
A Differentially Private Auction Mechanism in Online Social Networks显示文摘The growing popularity of users in online social network gives a big opportunity for online auction. The famous Information Diffusion Mechanism(IDM)is an excellent method even meet the incentive compatibility and individual rationality.Although the existing auction in online social network has considered the buyers’information which is not known by the seller, current mechanism still can not preserve the privacy information of users in online social network. In this paper,we propose a novel mechanism based on the IDM and differential privacy. Our mechanism can successfully process the auction and at the same time preserve clients’price information from neighbours. We achieved these by adding virtual nodes to each node and Laplace noise for its price in the auction process. We also formulate this mechanism on the real network and the random network,scale-free network to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed mechanism. The evaluation shows that the result of our methods only depend on the noise added to the agents. It is independent from the agents’original price. | Xiangyu Hu Dayong Ye Tianqing Zhu Huan Huo | 2021 | Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering2021,30,4: | 1

The rhizosphere effect on soil gross nitrogen mineralization: A meta-analysis显示文摘Rhizosphere effects play crucial roles in determining soil carbon(C)and nitrogen(N)cycling. However, the rhizosphere effect on soil gross nitrogen(N)mineralization(Nmin)has not been quantitatively assessed on the global scale. Here we performed a meta-analysis of compiled data from 24 publications and 37 species to synthesize the rhizosphere effect on soil gross Nmin and its influencing factors. We found that the rhizosphere effect significantly enhanced soil gross Nmin by 81%on average.Such rhizosphere effect was significantly higher in woody species than in nonwoody species, and higher in ECM(ectomycorrhizal)associated species than in AM(arbuscular mycorrhizal)associated species. Moreover, the variations of the rhizosphere effect on soil gross Nmin were correlated with those on soil C mineralization, phenol oxidase activity and root biomass rather than with other plant(growth form and mycorrhizal association)and climatic(mean annual temperature and precipitation)factors. These results support the‘microbial activation’and‘microbial N mining’hypotheses of rhizosphere effects and indicate the coupling of soil C and gross N mineralization in the rhizosphere.Overall, these findings provide novel insights into the rhizosphere effect on soil gross Nmin among plant growth forms and mycorrhizal associations, and improve our mechanistic understanding of soil N dynamics in the rhizosphere. | Dayong Gan Hui Zeng Biao Zhu | 2022 | Soil Ecology Letters2022,4,2: | 1

Mu-Net:Multi-Path Upsampling Convolution Network for Medical Image Segmentation显示文摘Medical image segmentation plays an important role in clinical diagnosis, quantitative analysis, and treatment process.Since 2015,U-Net-based approaches have been widely used formedical image segmentation. The purpose of the U-Net expansive path is to map low-resolution encoder feature maps to full input resolution feature maps. However, the consecutive deconvolution and convolutional operations in the expansive path lead to the loss of some high-level information.More high-level information can make the segmentationmore accurate. In this paper,we propose MU-Net,a novel,multi-path upsampling convolution network to retain more high-level information. The MU-Net mainly consists of three parts:contracting path, skip connection, and multi-expansive paths. The proposed MU-Net architecture is evaluated based on three different medical imaging datasets. Our experiments show that MU-Net improves the segmentation performance of U-Net-based methods on different datasets. At the same time, the computational efficiency is significantly improved by reducing the number of parameters by more than half. | Jia Chen Zhiqiang He Dayong Zhu Bei Hui Rita Yi Man Li Xiao-Guang Yue | 2022 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2022,,4: | 1
