1辽西医巫闾山地区瓦子峪变质核杂岩的厘定(英文)显示文摘以前未被发现的辽西医巫闾山地区瓦子峪变质核杂岩主要由一条向西倾的低角度正断层———瓦子峪拆离断层组成 ,它将由早白垩世沉积岩和火山岩组成的上盘与糜棱岩化和未变形的下盘分开。瓦子峪拆离断层 (以前称之为孙家湾—稍户营子断裂 )位于变质核杂岩的西侧 ,倾角 10~ 4 0°,构造标志指示向北西方向 (约 2 90°)剪切。与早白垩世地壳伸展相伴生的下盘糜棱岩剪切方向也是北西向 ,这与瓦子峪拆离断层运动相关。已经发表的和未发表的锆石U Pb年龄、40 Ar/3 9Ar热年代学和上盘阜新盆地中生物地层的时代研究表明 ,地壳伸展和变质核杂岩形成时代为早白垩世 (约 12 7~ 116Ma)。我们未发现以前文献报道的医巫闾山是一对称的变质核杂岩的任何证据。瓦子峪变质核杂岩以及WNW侧的拆离断层的厘定会加深我们对华北克拉通早白垩世伸展作用的理解和认识 ,下一步的研究重点包括野外构造研究以确定拆离断层和下盘糜棱岩的空间展布 ,进一步采集样品以研究变质核杂岩的地质 /热年代学和变质核杂岩范围内的岩体成因。我们认为瓦子峪变质核杂岩的形成是太平洋板块边界重组、早白垩世岩浆作用致使地壳升温 ,从而导致经造山作用而加厚的地壳垮塌的结果。Brian J. 2LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (LEGUE)——The survey's science plan显示文摘We describe the current plans for a spectroscopic survey of millions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy using the Guo Shou Jing Telescope (GSJT, formerly called the Large sky Area Multi-Object fiber Spectroscopic Telescope - LAMOST). The survey will obtain spectra for 2.5 million stars brighter than r < 19 during dark/grey time, and 5 million stars brighter than r < 17 or J < 16 on nights that are moonlit or have low transparency. The survey will begin in the fall of 2012, and will run for at least four years. The telescope's design constrains the optimal declination range for observations to 10 < δ < 50 , and site conditions lead to an emphasis on stars in the direction of the Galactic anticenter. The survey is divided into three parts with different target selection strategies: disk, anticenter, and spheroid. The resulting dataset will be used to study the merger history of the Milky Way, the substructure and evolution of the disks, the nature of the first generation of stars through identification of the lowest metallicity stars, and star formation through study of open clusters and OB associations. 3DAPT Enhances the Apoptosis of Human Tongue Carcinoma Cells显示文摘Aim To investigate the effect of DAPT(γ-secretase inhibitor) on the growth of human tongue carcinoma cells and to determine the molecular mechanism to enable the potential application of DAPT to the treatment of tongue carcinoma. Methodology Human tongue carcinoma Tca8113 cells were cultured with DAPT.Cell growth was determined using Indigotic Reduction method.The cell cycle and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry.Real-time PCR and Immuno-Fluorescence(IF) were employed to determine the intracellular expression levels. Results DAPT inhibited the growth of human tongue carcinoma Tca8113 cells by inducing G_0-G_1 cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.The mRNA levels of Hairy/Enhancer of Split-1(Hes-1),a target of Notch activation,were reduced by DAPT in a dose-dependent manner.Coincident with this observation,DAPT induced a dose-dependent promotion of constitutive Caspase-3 in Tca8113 cells. Conclusion DAPT may have a therapeutic value for human tongue carcinoma.Moreover,the effects of DAPT in tumor inhibition may arise partly via the modulation of Notch-1 and Caspase-3.Brian E. 4Comparison of Effects of Mechanical Stretching on Osteogenic Potential of ASCs and BMSCs显示文摘Mechanical forces play critical roles in the development and remodeling processes of bone.As an alternative cell source for bone engineering,adipose-derived stem cells(ASCs)should be fully investigated for their responses to mechanical stress.Similarly,the osteogenic potential,stimulated by mechanical stress,should be compared with bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs),which have been clinically used for bone tissue engineering.In this study,ASCs and BMSCs were osteogenic-induced for 48 hours,and then subjected to uniaxial mechanical stretching for 2 or 6 hours.Cell orientation,osteogenic regulatory genes,osteogenic genes and ALP activities were measured and compared between ASCs and BMSCs.ASCs could align in a perpendicular way to the direction of stretching stress,while BMSCs did not present a specific alignment.Both 2 and 6 hours mechanical stretching could enhance the mRNA expression of Osx and Runx2 in BMSCs and ASCs,while OCN mRNA only increased in ASCs after 6 hours mechanical loading.Mechanical stretching enhanced the BMP-2 mRNA expression in ASCs,while only after 6 hours of mechanical loading significantly increased the BMP-2 gene expression in BMSCs.Significant differences only exist between ASCs and BMSCs loaded at 2 hours of mechanical stretching.It is concluded that ASCs are more rapid responders to mechanical stress,and have greater potential than BMSCs in osteogenesis when stimulated by mechanical stretching,indicating their usefulness for bone study in a rat model.Brian E. 5Resistance to Aspergillus flavus in maize and peanut:Molecular biology, breeding, environmental stress,and future perspectives显示文摘The colonization of maize(Zea mays L.) and peanut(Arachis hypogaea L.) by the fungal pathogen Aspergillus flavus results in the contamination of kernels with carcinogenic mycotoxins known as aflatoxins leading to economic losses and potential health threats to humans. The regulation of aflatoxin biosynthesis in various Aspergillus spp. has been extensively studied, and has been shown to be related to oxidative stress responses. Given that environmental stresses such as drought and heat stress result in the accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS) within host plant tissues, host-derived ROS may play an important role in cross-kingdom communication between host plants and A. flavus. Recent technological advances in plant breeding have provided the tools necessary to study and apply knowledge derived from metabolomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic studies in the context of productive breeding populations. Here, we review the current understanding of the potential roles of environmental stress, ROS, and aflatoxin in the interaction between A.flavus and its host plants, and the current status in molecular breeding and marker discovery for resistance to A. flavus colonization and aflatoxin contamination in maize and peanut. 7Acoustofluidic separation enables early diagnosis of traumatic brain injury based on circulating exosomes显示文摘Traumatic brain injury(TBI)is a global cause of morbidity and mortality.Initial management and risk stratification of patients with TBI is made difficult by the relative insensitivity of screening radiographic studies as well as by the absence of a widely available,noninvasive diagnostic biomarker.In particular,a blood-based biomarker assay could provide a quick and minimally invasive process to stratify risk and guide early management strategies in patients with mild TBI(mTBI).Analysis of circulating exosomes allows the potential for rapid and specific identification of tissue injury.By applying acoustofluidic exosome separation—which uses a combination of microfluidics and acoustics to separate bioparticles based on differences in size and acoustic properties—we successfully isolated exosomes from plasma samples obtained from mice after TBI.Acoustofluidic isolation eliminated interference from other blood components,making it possible to detect exosomal biomarkers for TBI via flow cytometry.Flow cytometry analysis indicated that exosomal biomarkers for TBI increase in the first 24 h following head trauma,indicating the potential of using circulating exosomes for the rapid diagnosis of TBI.Elevated levels of TBI biomarkers were only detected in the samples separated via acoustofluidics;no changes were observed in the analysis of the raw plasma sample.This finding demonstrated the necessity of sample purification prior to exosomal biomarker analysis.Since acoustofluidic exosome separation can easily be integrated with downstream analysis methods,it shows great potential for improving early diagnosis and treatment decisions associated with TBI.Zeyu Wang Haichen Wang Ryan Becker Joseph Rufo Shujie Yang Brian E.Mace Mengxi Wu Jun Zou Daniel T.Laskowitz Tony Jun Huang 2021Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,2:3

11Control of autoimmune arthritis by herbal extracts and their bioactive components显示文摘Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) cause significant morbidity and loss of productivity. Many potent conventionally used drugs are available for these diseases, but their prolonged use is accompanied by severe adverse effects besides a high cost.Therefore, there is an unmet need for effective but less expensive medications for RA and other autoimmune diseases. Natural plant products belonging to the traditional systems of medicine, such as the traditional Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurvedic medicine, offer a vast and promising resource in this regard. However, herbal medicinal products are often poorly characterized for their composition as well as mechanisms of action. We review here the results of our systematically performed studies aimed at defining the anti-arthritic activity of three herbal extracts, namely, modified Huo-luo-xiao-ling dan (HLXL), Celastrus aculeatus Merr., and polyphenolic fraction of green tea (Camellia sinensis), as well as a purifiedcompound Celastrol, a bioactive component of Celastrus. Specifically, we examined the effects of these herbal products on the immunological, biochemical and molecular biological effector pathways in autoimmune arthritis. We have also reviewed here related studies on these herbal products by other investigators. 14Bioinformatic analysis of chromatin organization and biased expression of duplicated genes between two poplars with a common whole-genome duplication显示文摘The nonrandom three-dimensional organization of chromatin plays an important role in the regulation of gene expression.However,it remains unclear whether this organization is conserved and whether it is involved in regulating gene expression during speciation after whole-genome duplication(WGD)in plants.In this study,high-resolution interaction maps were generated using high-throughput chromatin conformation capture(Hi-C)techniques for two poplar species,Populus euphratica and Populus alba var.pyramidalis,which diverged~14 Mya after a common WGD.We examined the similarities and differences in the hierarchical chromatin organization between the two species,including A/B compartment regions and topologically associating domains(TADs),as well as in their DNA methylation and gene expression patterns.We found that chromatin status was strongly associated with epigenetic modifications and gene transcriptional activity,yet the conservation of hierarchical chromatin organization across the two species was low.The divergence of gene expression between WGD-derived paralogs was associated with the strength of chromatin interactions,and colocalized paralogs exhibited strong similarities in epigenetic modifications and expression levels.Thus,the spatial localization of duplicated genes is highly correlated with biased expression during the diploidization process.This study provides new insights into the evolution of chromatin organization and transcriptional regulation during the speciation process of poplars after WGD.Le Zhang Jingtian Zhao Hao Bi Xiangyu Yang Zhiyang Zhang Yutao Su Zhenghao Li Lei Zhang Brian J.Sanderson Jianquan Liu Tao Ma 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:2
15Modelling low carbon transition and economic impacts under SSPs and RCPs based on GTIMES显示文摘The simulation of global and regional energy system transition and its potential mitigation cost could intuitively reflect the need for earlier climate mitigation actions. To explore the possible transitions of global and regional energy system, this study applied a 14-region energy system model (GTIMES) with scenarios designed using Shared Socio-economic Pathways (SSPs) with Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs), and detailed depicts the quantification of SSPs trajectories into GTIMES model. Modeling results show that: 1) Global energy-related CO_(2) emissions will reach 37–74 Gt by 2050 under reference scenarios, while they will decrease to 12–14 Gt under higher possibility pathways to reach 2 ℃ target, with ratios of non-fossil fuel round to 42%–46%. 2) Electrification level has to increase noticeably in regional transition with a global average level of about 44% to achieve significant emission reduction. 3) Higher level of mitigation cost would happen with the constraint mitigation target, as well as social and economic trajectories chosen.
