| 2 | Duct-to-duct biliary reconstruction after radical resection of Bismuth Ⅲ a hilar cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘At present, radical resection remains the only effective treatment for patients with hilar cholangiocarcinoma. The surgical approach for R0 resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma is complex and diverse, but for the biliary reconstruction after resection, almost all surgeons use Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. A viable alternative to Roux-en-Y reconstruction after radical resection of hilar cholangiocarcinoma has not yet been proposed. We report a case of performing duct-to-duct biliary reconstruction after radical resection of Bismuth Ⅲa hilar cholangiocarcinoma. End-to-end anastomosis between the left hepatic duct and the distal common bile duct was used for the biliary reconstruction, and a singlelayer continuous suture was performed along the bile duct using 5-0 prolene. The patient was discharged favorably without biliary fistula 2 wk later. Evidence for tumor recurrence was not found after an 18 mo follow- up. | 3 | Aloin Protects Against Blood-Brain Barrier Damage After Traumatic Brain Injury in Mice显示文摘Aloin is a small-molecule drug well known for its protective actions in various models of damage.Traumatic brain injury(TBI)-induced cerebral edema from secondary damage caused by disruption of the blood-brain barrier(BBB) often leads to an adverse prognosis.Since the role of aloin in maintaining the integrity of the BBB after TBI remains unclear,we explored the protective effects of aloin on the BBB using in vivo and in vitro TBI models.Adult male C57 BL/6 mice underwent controlled cortical impact injury,and mouse brain capillary endothelial bEnd.3 cells underwent biaxial stretch injury,then both received aloin treatment.In the animal experiments,we found 20 mg/kg aloin to be the optimum concentration to decrease cerebral edema,decrease disruption of the BBB,and improve neurobehavioral performance after cortical impact injury.In the cellular studies,the optimum concentration of 40 μg/mL aloin reduced apoptosis and reversed the loss of tight junctions by reducing the reactive oxygen species levels and changes in mitochondrial membrane potential after stretch injury.The mechanisms may be that aloin downregulates the phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase,the activation of p65 nuclear factor-kappa B,and the ratios of B cell lymphoma(Bcl)-2-associated X protein/Bcl-2 and cleaved caspase-3/caspase-3.We conclude that aloin exhibits these protective effects on the BBB after TBI through its anti-oxidative stress and anti-apoptotic properties in mouse brain capillary endothelial cells.Aloin may thus be a promising therapeutic drug for TBI. | Yao Jing Dian-Xu Yang Wei Wang Fang Yuan Hao Chen Jun Ding Zhi Geng Heng-Li Tian | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,6: | 9 |

| 10 | Surgical management of patients with bowel obstructions secondary to gastric cancer显示文摘AIM: To assess whole-body fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in the management of small bowel obstructions (SBOs) secondary to gastric cancer and its role in treatment strategies. METHODS: The medical records of all of the patients who were admitted for an intestinal obstruction after curative resection for gastric cancer were retrospectively reviewed. PET/CT was performed before a clinical treatment strategy was established for each patient. The patients were divided into 2 groups: patients with no evidence of a tumor recurrence and patients with evidence of a tumor recurrence. Tumor recurrences included a local recurrence, peritoneal carcinomatosis or distant metastases. The primary endpoint was the 1-year survival rate, and other variables included patient demographics, the length of hospital stay, complications, and mortality. RESULTS: The median time between a diagnosis of gastric cancer and the detection of a SBO was 1.4 years. Overall, 31 of 65 patients (47.7%) had evidence of a tumor recurrence on the PET/CT scan, which was the only factor that was associated with poor survival. Open and close surgery was the main type of surgical procedure reported for the patients with tumor recurrences. R0 resections were performed in 2 patients, including 1 who underwent combined adjacent organ resection. In the group with no evidence of a tumor recurrence on PET/CT, bowel resections were performed in 7 patients, adhesiolysis was performed in 7 patients, and a bypass was performed in 1 patient. The 1-year survival curves according to PET/CT evidence of a tumor recurrence vs no PET/CT evidence of a tumor recurrence were significantly different, and the 1-year survival rates were 8.8% vs 93.5%, respectively. There were no significant differences (P = 0.71) in the 1-year survival rates based on surgical vs nonsurgical management (0% with nonoperative treatment vs 20% after exploratory laparotomy). | 11 | Effects of annealing temperature and time on microstructure and magnetic properties of Pr-Co thin films显示文摘A series of Pr-Co thin films were deposited on the Si (100) substrates with Cr underlayer by magnetron sputtering. The effects of both the post-annealing temperature and the annealing time on the microstructure and magnetic properties for the Pr-Co films were studied systemati- cally. The as-deposited Pr-Co thin films are mostly amorphous and tend to crystallize after annealing at temperatures above 600 C. When the annealing time is increased, the films show a complicated structure with various phases coexisting. Accordingly, the as-deposited film and low temperature annealed films are soft magnets and films annealed at temperatures beyond 600 C tend to be hard magnets. When the annealing time is increased from 5 min to 2 h, the films transfer from hard magnets to soft again.
